Robert Randolph & the Family Band know how to rock the roof off a joint -- and this time was no exception. Their sold out show at the new venue Aura in Portland, Maine, did not disappoint. Aura was amazingly beautiful, the sound and acoustics were superb, and the band was on top of their game from the moment they came out around 10:15 p.m. right up until they finished their last song at 12:30 a.m.. A most excellent night!!!

I came primarily for Otis Taylor as I had never heard of Robert prior. He's a great and enthusiastic performer though. I liked their set and would recommend them again, but come on....38 minutes of OT?

I usually get to about 20 plus shows a year and this one was amazing. Robert Randolph and the family were so fun, the group was tight and on spot. I love the energy and interaction they all had with the fans. If you get the chance to see these guys do it.

Blew me away. The amount of talent in this band is much greater than the sum of it's parts. They kept swapping instruments and it was clear that each member of the band was equally accomplished on any instrument he played. It was a jaw dropping, foot tapping, soal shaking night of wonderful music.

Seeing Robert Randolph and the Family Band at the new club Aura in Portland, ME was unforgettable! The Family Band is what a "Jam" band can and should be. Unequaled musicianship, soul and funk. What a generous performer, a 2.5 hr. set!

Aura was beautiful. It was kind of chaotic, but it was only the 2nd show there. The late start time was a real bummer. Maybe I'm just older than most, but I was only able to stay for the first 3-4 songs with Randolph, because we were exhausted, and annoyed that we couldn't get a view at all, because people kept moving and yelling at each other because they're just LOUD, and the constant traffic... The opening band was really good, too. But 45 minutes in between bands is ridiculous.

Great music - not as funky as I remember them - packed club - diverse group of fans - overall fun night at The Stone Pony and a heads up with their help finding a place for my husband who cannot stand. Band I liked better last time I saw them in a different venue.

I first saw & heard the Randolph family band on the "Keepin' the Blues Alive II" cruise in 2016. There were many acts that I had never seen before and I got a great education in blues and blues/rock music on the trip. Rolling Stone correctly lists Robert on the list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. His mastery of the pedal steel guitar is legendary. The other band members are tightly-knit in every piece they play. One terrific surprise (to me) was the opening act: the Matt O'ree Band! Matt, I was informed, is the new guitar player for Bon Jovi, and I can see why -- he's absolutely amazing. I put him up there on my list with Joe Bonamassa and Joe Satriani! I'm not exaggerating! My only complaint was that I bought tix in advance on Ticketmaster and paid way more than I could have at the door. I won't make that mistake again.

Robert Randolph and the Family Band were on point at the Stone Pony Friday night! They played mostly from their new album which I truly enjoyed as I have been listening to it nonstop! The energy of the show was high and the audience responded, just an excellent musical experience!!!

Gospel Blues Heaven! The only bluesy rock song was Voodoo Chile! Which was simply amazing with 4 slide players as were all of the other tunes!!!

Now, I love Robert Randolph. He's an amazing musician and performer. I appreciate that he wanted to showcase his sacred steel roots, but don't expect Family Band style stuff here. This music came out of Pentecostal churches with the purpose of getting the congregation "in the Spirit", and so most of the time it's a charismatic jam session, and with all the slide guitars and pedal steels at once, it's a little bit of cacophony sometimes. You will get to see Robert Randolph shred it up sometimes, but not often. Just as the title says, he's really just presenting "the Slide Brothers."

Robert Randolph was fantastic and never overshadowed the slide brothers. 6 amazing musicians were on stage each as mind blowing as the next. The venue was perfect for a show such as this one; small and intimate really gave it a personal feel. I plan to see Robert Randolph every time he comes to Los Angeles.

Really enjoyed the entire show. Soulful, straight from the heart music without artifice. Wonderful performances by Calvin Cooke, Aubrey Ghent, Darick Campbell, Chuck Campbell, and of course, Robert Randolph. Otis Taylor's opening set was eclectic and fun.

This is the third time I've seen Robert Randolph (other times with the Family Band), and it was just as amazing as both prior concerts. I took two friends who had no idea of either performer and they are now fans. Otis Taylor did not play my favorite song; however, I believe it was due to time constraints, focusing on new material, and possibly his daughter not being there. A little different from when I previously saw Otis Taylor but still, a great show.

a great show. the audience knew what they were coming to and this gave it a great vibe. otis taylor and his band were terrific; the lady on the electric violin is amazing the four slide guitars, with his mentors were fantastic. however, for me there is a tension between the sacred, church music and the secular, funky, blues music that also lies inside RR. would like more of the latter

Robert Randolph & the Family Band was fabulous! But we knew that would be the case because this band is about as good as it gets and always brings their best. All the songs on the latest release are even better live than they are on the album. This, along with many of bands standards made for an unforgettable evening.

RR and the FB blew the doors off of the Ogden Saturday night. I've seen them on TV a couple of times, and on you tube, but this was my first experience of the band live. They took the stage following a very strong opening set by The Constellations, who were tight, bouncy, and fun. Once Robert sat down at his sacred steel I felt the energy in the house go up about 10%. The band soared into their opening cut and it simply did not stop from there. Not for over an hour and a half. The bass player was in the pocket the entire night and the rapport between he and RR was obvious and led to some very crunchy moments in the show. Recognized covers of Thriller and Bowie's "Let's Dance." Both of which set the place on fire. I love the pedal steel and what it is capable of, whether its country or rock and roll. This man is a master and gets sounds out of it that are amazing. It was like seeing Duane Allman at his hottest. This is how Jimi would have sounded playing pedal steel. Or Stevie Ray. WOW!!!! This show made me high.

I have to say I was dissappointed. He didn't come out until almost 10:30, and the first few songs he did all sounded the same, like he was playing the same rif over and over. He has a lovely lady that has a terrific voice that he hides back in the corner. She needs to be out front and sing way more songs. I left half way through the show.

Best New Years Eve show I've seen in years. The North Mississippi All Stars and Robert Randolph and the Family Band created so much energy, I thought the sold out crowd was going to shake down the house of blues.
