Awesome singer. She never disappoints. One of the best vocalists to go see live. The venue is nice, but you need to start selling snacks/light meals again so people can eat finger foods while drinking as well. Thanks

Again, Lizz Wright shows why she's one of the top jazz female vocalist in this era.. her band was tight and you could tell that they enjoyed performing for us.

I have seen Lizz now 5 times she is great every time. Her voice and delivery are moving with amazing lyrics. She works well with her band and had a great opening act that later came on to perform with her. The only downside is that while Howard Theatre is a great venue is stopped servicing food and it did not clearly state this on the website. I suggest catching her at the Birchmere if possible.

Absolutely wonderful. Breathtaking really. We had hoped she would preform for what we consider her number one song "I'm Confessing" nevertheless we were still greatly pleased with her set selection. Thanks you Liz...keep doing what you do cause you do it SO well!

Lizz Wright and her band were terrific. We loved the bass player, he was laying it down and funky. If she had sung 'Blue Rose' I would have given this concert 5 stars. She sang a lot of tunes from 'The Orchard'. Great delivery, heartfelt, great pitch and beautiful tone. No b.s., just honest, heartfelt and soulful music from musicians who play with the song in mind.

Lizz Wright was AWESOME!! She has the most unforgettable voice I have ever heard. There was no idle chit-chat between songs, which I really appreciated. Her voice is a treasure. The 'sacred songs' she sang reminded me of Mahalia Jackson...POWERFUL! Whenever she is in Boston, I WILL BE THERE. I will also let all my friends know about her and her show.

I'd spend over a $100 to see her perform\u2014what a gift at less than half the cost! Lizz Wright is beyond the real deal\u2014sultry, rich, powerful vocals coupled with an enchanting stage presence that draws her audience into an experience that you wish would never end. In the past six months, next to Maxwell performance, she is second to none in the industry. Her sound is timeless and I reach for it when I need a warm caress. Looking forward to seeing her perform over the next 20-30 years.

I first came across Salt during a deployment to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. Looking at the jewel cover, she reminded me of Tracy Chapman. While listening to the CD I instantly became a fan. As Soon as I Get Home touched my heart over and over again. Her music is so real, yet romantic. When I returned home I searched the internet for her concert locations. Sadly, she was not performing near my home. I wanted to fly to ATL in May 07 to see her, but my wide disagreed. On Jan 22, 2010 Ticket Master s notification indicated that Lizz would be at the Birchmere on April 7th. I quickly purchased tickets. Last night my wife and I enjoyed her live performance. Her demeanor was so mature and her personality is so fitting for her profession. Of course the musician opened the concert. They presented so much talent and emitted so much love for their craft. Lizz s voice brought tears to my ears as I sat next to my wife, amazed of her performance of Old Man . She easily transitioned as she sang a well developed selection of songs. On a scale of 1 10, I give her performance an 11.

Perfect marriage of venue and performer with the Birchmere in NoVa hosting Lizz Wright Wed April 7th. This Georgia-raised chanteuse spilled rich tones, both delicate and deep, from an impossibly relaxed, lithe physique (1st time seeing her live; there was love between us, I'm sure!). Her instrument was in control throughout the evening, and in so doing allowed the packed crowd to relax as one might normally be able to in the privacy of own home/screen porch on a hot summer's night with Lizz on the (insert your music gizmo provider). Ms. Wright's (yes! - an adult at barely 30 years old!) approach assumes a certain maturity going into the experience. Her easy sophistication, style and sense of inclusion of musical forms would charm just about anyone who is feeling "dumbed down" by all too much popular music currently. From the ethereal atmospherics that accompanied her bend of Neil Young's "Old Man" which opened the show, to the sparse stride/rag infused -set of "sacred songs" at show's mid-point, all the way through to shows "done already?" closing numbers, this was simply a delightful 90+ minutes with a woman who deserves to be heard by more, but you almost hope remains what you feel her following thinks of her: As in juicy gossip, told well, LIzz Wright allows her audience to feel intimately involved in a secret that might be spoiled if too many find out.

I have been to a lot of concerts in my time, but never have I been so filled with joy and peace as I was last night at the Lizz Wright concert. She is simply a wonderful songbird that brings her spiritual essence and bright light into the atmosphere, that all you can do is surrender to the power of her voice and captivating smile. The words of the music are just the tip of the volcanic energy that exuberates from this beautiful and talented woman. It is a true blessing to witness the gift that God gave her and how she maintains the old-school music style...no smoke and mirrors, just down right AWESOME SINGING! Lizz Wright is such a versatile singer/songwriter. Her renditions of Neil Young's, Old Man (take a look at yourself...) and Amazing Grace were heartfelt and gorgeous. She can sing gospel, country, folk, rock, jazz and any mixture thereof. Her own compositions are the most precious like Stop, Hit the Ground, My Heart, Speak your Heart and Wake Up LIttle Sparrow (although she did not sing the last song- it is one of my favorites). Her voice is soulful in every sense of the word. Thoroughtly enjoyed her concert.

The voice is magnificent to listen to. However, the music is not new and needs new material badly. Electric guitar and bass are too much. Accoustical guitar and bass 100% better. Those who have never heard her live, loved the program. This was my third time in three years and I was very disappointed and even bored at times.

Simply one of the best concerts I have attended. Her vocals were strong, crisp, and great range. Her passion for her craft is easily recognizable. I was impressed with her range of music, jazz, gospel, country. In a world where reward often exceeds talent it is refreshing to see someone as talented as Lizz Wright. I often measure singers by how they sound in person compared to their CD's. In Lizz Wright's case she sounded even better in person.

This is my second Lizz Wright experience at the Birchmere. It's the perfect, quaint venue for her style of performance. Lizz's vocal interpretations are wonderfully enchanting. Nevertheless, they were presented much LOUDER than necessary in such an intimate space. She truly needs an exceptional sound technician to highlight the beauty and depth of her voice.

The lady can sing. Luckily I was in the front row, so I was able to overhear all of the non-microphoned purrs, hums, oohs, and yeahs that this lovely sultry-voiced songstress cooed in apparent feeling that those in the rows behind me missed. These delightful warbles of feeling showed how "into it" she is when she sings her songs. Her apparent closeness to her bandmates was evident with the few interactions the front row patrons could overhear between songs, as well. Numerous times my body felt chills as her voice went deep, then altered like a soaring sparrow, as her interpretations sounded more confident with time and experience. Why she's not HUGE is beyond my understanding.

Lizz Wright is absolutely amaze-balls! I have seen her once before a long time ago (maybe around album 2 release time) and her performance level from then until now has sky rocketed! She is so talented and her voice just fills the room and hugs the listener like a romantic evening in front of the fire. By the way, this is the first time that I have been to the balcony of the Howard Theater, what a nice experience. What a treat to see these to incredible musicians play together. What's more they obviously loved doing it. I'm hard pressed to say who had more fun, the audience or Liz and Raul. I've been a big fan of Liz Wright and her musicianship and voice for a long time but this was my first experience hearing Raul Midon. I have to say I'm very, very impressed. It seems there is nothing he cannot do musically. He sings, he plays guitar, he plays drums, he writes music - and he does all of it superbly. Unlike many musical collaborations, this was not just two musicians taking turns performing their own repertoire. They truly performed together. Taking turns on verses, singing harmonies and playing together on every piece. You could see the time invested and the joy they both took in working together. This was worth every penny.

This is about the 4th time I've seen Lizz live. The first time I saw her was at the Blue Note in NYC and Norah Jones was in the audience and had come to see Lizz. Lizz as usual was incredible, in great voice and well worth the cost of the ticket. The music flowed and she connected to every song yet I would have preferred to hear more of the music from her first three works than the last. It all fit in perfectly I simply missed hearing Salt and had hoped for A taste of Honey, yet understand that she has so much music now that it is impossible to give all the people everything they want (which is why we purchase her music). My husband and I have been a fan of Lizz for a number of years but have never had the chance to see her in concert. Wow, what we were missing! I know that I do not have words to describe how amazing she and her band were. Very powerful performance, her recordings do not do her justice. There is an energy that she has that you do not get from a CD, the audience was really into every song and I think she fed off that and the audience sensed it. I've seen other artists in concert and you don't always get that vibe. She seems like a genuinely happy person and it showed in her performance! And to see her in a smaller venue such as the Birchmere was a real treat. It's just a shame that their food is over priced and not all that great. I do get that they are trying to feed hundreds of people in a short time but that's not a great excuse; they do it every day.

What a wonderful night! Lizz Wright is an extraordinary singer whose vocals are soulful, joyful and yet so relaxed that it's hard to remember that her performance goes virtually non-stop for over 90 minutes. Her obvious love of song and singing amplify the already high-quality of her performance. She includes the audience without distracting from its enjoyment of her performance, which is, after all, what you pay to hear.

Liz Wright is not just an amazingly talented musician and singer, she feels the music with her entire being. This was aparent during her concert at the Birchmere last Friday. She not only embodied the songs but she brought the entire audience along for the ride. Not many singers have a voice as deep and powerful as Wright, but even fewer bring such depth of emotion to their performance. Add to that a group of four highly talented colaborators and you end up with a truely memorable evening of music performed at the highest level.

Lizz Wright is one of the most underrated, soulful, skilled, elegant singers of our time! For such a sultry voice, Lizz keeps you engaged with her energy and makes you feel the passion in the music with her vocal expression. Not to mention her awesome band! They brought life and energy to music that is usually mello and smooth without taking anything away from the vibe of the songs! I saw Lizz Wright at the Birchmere a few year back and she put on an amazing show as well. While this set included less selections and less variety in the songs delivered, it was still enjoyable, punctuated by a beautiful cover of Roberta Flack's "The First Time (ever I saw your face)." I saw Lizz at the Birchmere 3/14/16. Really liked how she sang both "Freedom" and "Silence Is a Song"--seeming to affirm both potential responses to the Spirit. Reminded me of how "Hamilton" depicts both main characters as unwilling to "throw away their shot," while showing their very different approaches--fire and ice, lightning and lava--to taking it. Also affirmed Sly Stone's endorsement of different strokes for different folks. She's still got it. Go see her and make her the superstar she deserves to be!

It was a special treat to see her reunited with Kenny Banks. I enjoyed every song. After having seen her live with other vocalists, I was looking forward to seeing her on her own. She did not disappoint. It was also great being in the Roxy again.

From the beginning to the end, Lizz engaged the crowd with her soothing voice. I have never been to a concert where the vocalist sounds like or better than the recordings. Keep on keeping on!

Saw Lizz Wright at the The Buckhead Theater Sunday night. Lizz is the quintessential female vocalist of our time. You will probably never hear her music on mainstream radio. She is from the small town of Hahira, Georgia but she is destine for even greater things. Here are a few selection from her six CDs that may give you a favor for her music. She really does not fit in any genre of music and I glad she doesn't.

This concert was the best I have experienced in a long time. The songs and the music was so pure and resonating. Lizz Wright's voice is like none other. It is a rich, distinctive, beautiful sound. Kenny Banks really let loose, as only he can do. It doesn't take a lot of glitz and distracting elements to present beautiful music, and that is what was accomplished on Sunday night. It was truly a wonderful ending to the weekend.

THIS IS MY FIRST CONCERT AT THIS VENUE. THE CONCERT STARTED ON TIME LIZ'S LIVE WAS BEYOND ANYTHING I COULD IMAGINE SHE SOUNDED SO MUCH BETTER THAN HER CD. A BREATHTAKING EXPERIENCE. WHOEVER SET UP THE MICS OR ACOUSTICS IN THE VENUE WAS ON POINT. HER VOICE WAS SO DISTINCT AND THE MUSICIANS WERE AWESOME, HER BACKUP SINGERS VOICES BLENDED SO WELL WITH HERS. CUDOS TO LIZ WRIGHT IF THIS PERFORMANCE WAS RECORDED I WOULD LOVE TO GET THE CD. IT WAS GREAT. HOPE TO SEE MORE OF HER IN ATLANTA MORE OFTEN.

With a voice as smooth, deep and rich as velvet, Lizz Wright gave an outstanding concert on February 28th at the Buckhead Theater. While I loved every song she sang, her rendition of To Love Somebody sent chills down my spine and her gut wrenching Speak Your Heart made me cry. Her band was exceptional with each musician giving all both in their solos as well as during their collaboration. Awesome performance. I planned a trip from Connecticut to visit family in Atlanta, around this performance date. Wise decision on my part.
