I was so stoked to see this band live. I hadn't heard of Zeus, the opening band, but they blew me away. I downloaded their albums as soon as I got home. I think all the band members, except the drummer, sang lead on at least one song, and did it well. I am definitely a fan. Broken Social Scene started their show with World Sick. The slow build up was perfect for the opener. Unfortunately, Kevin Drew lost his voice just as he sang the first lines. The band went to some Drewless songs and palyed some acoustic stuff. Kevin came back and sang as much as he could to give us a great show. He was able to do World Sick by the end of the show. It was so great to see him push through because he didn't want to disappoint us. They played several encores and really connected with audience. It was a very unique experience. My one problem with this show was with the venue. FIRESTONE, YOU NEED A BACK HALLWAY TO GET ACROSS THE CLUB. The path to the bar is right through the crowd. Messes with the vibe.

this is the best show i've been to in texas since i came home from college in may of 2010. broken social scene has a great reputation for live performances and they live up to it. from kevin drew stealing a fan's reading glass to gain some four-eyed "credibility" to their flawless musical executions to making sure they have all the instruments live that they have on their albums (cough, wilco, cough). i went to this show solo and wasn't feeling too hot that day, but i left in a great mood. it was weird to see a fight break out at a bss show but i'm sure someone was just being drunk and obnoxious

I have been to more shows than I could possibly count. Small shows, festival shows, etc. Each venue lends its sound to a band in different ways, we all know that. But how often do you really truly get to hear, see, and feel a band and a venue really come together for that nugget of gold moment? This was it. Broken Social Scene took ownership of The House Of Blues Dallas from the second Kevin Drew took stage. The PA sounded amazing. Loud, but Quiet, I know that sounds odd, but the balance was perfect. At times 13 members graced us with their presence on stage. I knew these folks were talented, but I was blown out of my seat hearing them live for the 1st time. Some of my pre conceptions about how they record their albums were shattered. I was sure the guitars were overdubbed. I was sure the bass was thickened and effected in the mastering process. Well these guys (and gals) were pulling off "studio tricks" live... No tricks here, just raw talent and creativity at it's best. The band was entertaining, personable and fun in an interactive way you don't experience much anymore. The extended jams, comment between songs, and length of set pushed this show over the top for me.

I've been waiting over a year to see Broken Social Scene. I finally got tickets and it was in the perfect setting - central park! I was blown away by each musician's talent. I had no idea how great they were and of course, their album does not do justice to how GREAT they are live! Even though it was an outside venue, their sound was still amazing and totally blew me away. They are a must see band, and I cannot wait until they come around again! Also, Summerstage in Rumsey Playfield is an awesome venue and I absolutely recommend going to see a show here.

Broken Social Scene (a rotating Canadian alt rock supergroup) were running on a lean nine-member ensemble last night, which at first I thought might not fill out their usual chaotic orchestral sound. However to my surprise having half as many instruments squealing at the heavens really let each bit of sound wave present shine. An amazing night of music, pep talks about the state of our union and the world, a pause for communal scream therapy, a marriage proposal between two lovestruck fans, as well as bandleader Kevin Drew coming into the crowd for five minutes of free hugs, of which I was lucky enough to get one! Thank you to the band for the musical impact and spiritual recharge.

Very unforgettable show, being that this was the band's final show before disbanding. The band played for almost 3 hours, very heartfelt and emotional actually, the crowd was withthem 110%, and the sound was crystal clear for a band that sometimes had upwards of 12 people onstage. One of the shows I will remember for a long time, and one of the few that actually touched an emotional cord for me.

It has been a long time since I counted 12 people on stage with a dynamic and free flowing music. Every bit as good as (I know this is bold) as the Mothers of Invention concerts I use to go to. I did not expect a 3 hour show but that is what they played. This is a MUST SEE BAND.

This was the 4th time I've seen BSS live and they just keep getting better and better. They are such a tight band, totally in synch with each other, and there show seems loosely planned. So, you're basically getting an improvised set. At least, that's how it feels - authentic and genuine and totally what the band is feeling. For that reason, I always enjoy the unpredictable nature of their live shows. Always good and always real. For this show, they covered a Modest Mouse song, one that I can't remember the name of, but it was a nice surprise.

This show rocked. The band was the full on Toronto-all-stars that are BSS. Lots of guitars, lots of horns, lots of drums and lots of noise. Kevin and Co. were able to bring the complex layering and beautiful melodies that makes BSS so mesmerizing. Plus everyone was happy!

Lifelong fan of the band. This record is okay for three songs. And they are good songs worth buying. However it is clear that this collaboration of a band is nothing more than a franchise. I've seen them live several times throughout the years and just left the show at the House of Blues in Dallas. It was okay and fabricated but I enjoyed it. Sadly Kevin thinks he is Thom Yorke now with his undeserving persona. Even more sadly is that Lisa Lobsinger thinks she is Emily Haines. This band needs to hang it up. It is kind of like seeing a cover band that a real cover band could do better covers of. If that even makes sense.

I love Broken Social Scene and listen to their albums often. This was the first time that I have seen them in concert, and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The first song set the tone. The started out with "World Sick" which has about a minute and half build-up before the singing starts. Two lines into the song the lead singer asked everyone to stop. "I can't do this. I've lost my voice." He left and the band picked up with another song. He eventually came back and sang the rest of the set with a scratchy voice - which I have to say was better than the show being canceled. Overall the whole thing felt very improvised - as if someone had just told them about the concert 10 minutes before the show started. "Oh, that was today? What are we gonna do guys?" "I dunno, we'll just make something up!" They seemed to have a conference after each song as to what to decide to play next. Wish Leslie Feist was there!

Broken Social Scene, as always, put on a great show! They are a band you can sit and relax too (as some did up in the balcony) or you can really move too, as many more did down in front of the stage. They played something from all of their albums. Even after over 2 hours of playing I didn't want it to end.

A mellower show than the one in NYC back in late September, BSS delivered nonetheless. There wasn't any crowd surfing, but the sound was fantastic, they played a long and excellent set, and I felt a real connection with the people on stage and in the audience. It was a lot of fun and kind of cathartic, which is exactly what I want to experience.

I bought two tickets to this show hoping to find someone with music taste similar to mine by the time of the show. I ended up being invited to the show after I'd bought the tix by a friend from work. We ended up inviting some other friends and went as a group of four. The show was by far one of the best I've ever been to. Their set was unreal. They literally played every song I wanted (needed) them to. :) I would have liked to hear more of Spirit If... but Kevin Drew fronts a lot of the Forgiveness Rock Record so the balance was nice. I actually got some footage that's up on youtube of their encore set (wasn't part of the youtube broadcast) Just look for dwoodmusicLI as a user and you'll find it. Broken Social Scene is an unbelievable, uplifting band to see live. I'll be at each show they play. Thanks.

Broken Social Scene is, obviously, an outstanding group. Their performance was SUPERB and couldn't have been better. The real issue with this performance is that, for whatever, the NY crowd at Terminal 5 was nearly as boring as a senior citizen home. I was really disappointed that people barely even swayed or bopped to the beat, even during the most upbeat and exciting songs. Granted, Broken Social Scene is not the kind of group that has mosh pits at its concerts, but it's not as if all of their songs are slow or dull. None of them are dull and some of them are danceable. To add to the disappointment of the concert, the crowd showed little to no enthusiasm at the end of the show, but because it was being televised, Broken Social Scene had to come out for an encore even though the crowd did not earn it in the least. Really depressing.

This was the third time I've seen them, in three different-sized venues, and this BY FAR was the best show I've seen...the setlist was perfect, and the small club didn't dampen their sound, which wasn't overdone (although my ears still rang the next morning). I had seen Broken Social Scene a few months prior in San Francisco and was so blown away I immediately bought tickets to this show. Truth be told, I'm still riding the high from the show. I crocheted an owl before the show and stitched the initials of the first letters of the people I came with in the 3 hours we waited in line (in the rain). The whole performance felt very personal, but that could be because we were in the very front. I felt as if they looked into my eyes when they sang. The instruments brought complete immediacy to the moment, almost as if past and future had ceased to exist.

I had not seen Broken Social Scene previously and do not claim to be one of their biggest fans, but I had high expectations based on what others had told me. They were so phenomenal I could barely control myself the whole night. Played for about two hours with minimal talking, pretty much straight rock from song to song. Easily between 9 and 14 people playing on each song. Extremely well planned. Delivered all the way.

Broken Social Scene consistently pushes and progresses themselves and their audiences, expanding and impacting what it means to be a human being and how love can be expressed through art. And they never stop! I just saw them on the 15th in Seattle, and again on the 16th in Portland, and have seen them 3 other times before. They are a family of incredible musicians, lovers, and wise leaders that are worth listening to, not only because they consistently create some of the most incredible experiences to be had in one's lifetime, but because of what they have to say.

This show was incredible despite how exhausted the band was. I happened to meet Kevin Drew backstage and chatted with him for a bit. It was very obvious that their constant touring since March had taken its toll. He also mentioned on KCRW this morning in LA how tired the band was in Portland specifically. Either way, amazing show.

the sea and cake were good and a good opener, but broken social scene was flat out on track and with the additional performers it was very high energy and great overall. Seemed like they were amped up and were in the mood to play as long as the crowd was digging it. There were 12 musicians on stage at time which gave a full sound and I like the musicians using different gutiars thru out the performance. Also like the collaberation with Prekpop and the sea and cake drummer on one set. All in all one of the better concerts I've been to in a while.

Broken Social Scene was great. Their current lineup does lack Feist, Amy Millan and Emily Haines. This was disappointing on some songs to not have the sound I was familiar with. However, the show was still well worth it, the band played an awesome closing song (Ibi Dreams of Pavement) that gave me chills.

I've seen BSS twice now and both times they rocked my face off. They usually play until one or two in the morning and have such a great energy that it keeps you going right there with them. They've been the best live show I've ever seen (twice now) hands down. HIGHLY recommended.

Very enjoyable show but BSS was way too quiet. Would've loved to hear the volume pumped up quite a bit more. Not a lot of energy, this could be attributed to the seating arrangement in the Michigan Theater but I'm not sure. Still was a great show, Broken Social Scene are so talented.

Bottom line amazing. This is the first concert, of many to come, that i attended with my semi-recent girl friend. Had a little buzz on from a four loco that i consumed before the show but regardless amazing to say the least. The sound was perfect, lights amazing, and well my company was amazing o say the least. I made the rest of my weekend and i think it's more than fair to assume it made her's as well. However i wish they had has played 7/4 shoreline last.

Mixing was muddled, lots of unintended feedback all during the show, two fire alarms made the show just average. Good set song choices but no strings :(. Brandon came out for signing after the show and was a delight!

Michigan Theater (typically amazing) did everything they could to mess up the show...feedback, blown speakers and even the sudden onset of a fire alarm. BSS was incredible through all of it, great lighting but most importantly that emblematic full sound that took over the theater...just perfect.

I can't say anything bad about Broken Social Scene. I can never say anything bad about them. The show was amazing, They played every song I wanted to hear, the sound was perfect, the venue was fantastic. I've seen a few shows at Summer Stage/ Rumsey Playfield and it never dissatisfies. This being one of my favorite bands I got really worked up for the show and it was nothing less than absolutely impressive. I highly recommend taking the time to see this band even if you have just started listening, or haven't listened at all. You won't regret it.

Excellent! Loved every minute except one or two songs I'm not a fan of (Art House Director). I was surprised at how beautiful they sounded live. I didn't want it to end - that's the best review I think you can give.

you'll probably never have such a fun and uplifting concert experience as when you see BSS live...this was my third time seeing the band and every show is a little different, or a lot different! they remix songs and interact with the crowd and get your booty shakin and they PLAY hard for the entire performance. i'll go back again and again.

I love NYC summer stage. Great to be in outside in the park with good music. Sound is not great, so don't expect much. I love BSS, but not that impressed live. Hoping that a smaller, indoors venue will be much better.

BSS played for their full amount of time, even skipping the break between leaving the stage for intermission so we could hear more music. Great show. They played all their hits with a great mix of old and new.

THIS IS A MUST SEE EVEN IF YOU DON"T DIG MANY OF THEIR SONGS. Their banter was hilarious; they performed all of their songs (which were already kick ass) with high energy and complete finesse (including many solo breaks in the middle of songs for improv). Even the two old 50 year olds next to me were head banging. DO NOT MISS THEM THIS TOUR! THIS IS A SHOW YOU WILL REMEMBER FOR A LONG TIME.

This is my 3rd time seeing BSS, and this was their best show. They didn't play any new material, so that might disappoint some, but they played all of their best songs...and that can't be all bad, can it? They really put on a great show the entire night through, it was a good night. Sad to see so many empty seats...I thought Boston was more supportive.
