The headline says it all. This show was outstanding from start to finish. I've seen Jackie play with Phil Lesh and I've seen him as an opener for Gov't Mule, but this was the first time I've seen him as the headlining act, and believe me....he did not disappoint. He performed a fantastic mix of originals and covers, and he interacted nicely with the crowd. Seeing him in an intimate setting like the Paradise, which I had not been to in about 20 years, also added to the experience as my wife and I arrived early enough to find a spot right up against the stage. I would certainly recommend that anyone who appreciates classic rock and blues should make it a point to see Jackie Greene at some point. It's tough to find a better bang for your buck out there right now!

Jackie Greene is one of the most diverse and all-encompassing musicians I've heard in years. Everything from blues to ballads to covers from The Stones and The Dead. Check him out, he's a treat not to miss!!

Jackie is the most unbelievable artist in a very, very long time. He needs to play more of his songs and not sell himself short by playing so many cover songs, i.e. Grateful Dead. That was a huge dissapointment, although any song he has written was totally amazing!

Solid player and singer backed by a pocket drummer, competent rhythm/lead guitar player, and a bass player who definitely holds down the bottom. Set list was varied and interesting. Some great covers to compliment his originals. I was in Cleveland visiting family. Hope he comes to St. Louis.

Classic American - country, blues and Jackie Greene. He nailed the standards and had the heads dancing in circles with a few extended jams, but his originals mesmerized: This kid reaches into timeless themes and spiritual complexities and ties it together with deep soulful sounds. The accoustic encore - phenomenal - why can we we have more? More Mr. Greene, more.

I was even more impressed with the talent of Jackie Greene after attendinghis concert. The venue was a neat, close and personal old theatre in Oakley, OH. It would have been a great arena to do some acoustic pieces, but unfortunately Jackie did not venture into those songs. I also felt that he could have played more actual songs instead of stretching out others. The jam sessions were fantastic, but I would have loved to hear a wider variety of songs as well. All in all, great, GREAT show!!! Jackie is an extremely talented singer, guitarist, pianist and great on harmonica. His band is talented as well, but Jackie steals the show. If you get a chance, definitely check him out!!

Show was out of this world...opening act, Drew Holcomb and neighbors was a great start to the night. Jackie's show was full of energy, passion, and amazing musical ability! He is truly a fan's musician...taking requests, signing autographs, and an all around GEM! Thanks for gracing the Birchmere on your spring tour...hurry back!

From the moment Jackie walks toward the stage, you can feel the electricity and excitement in the air. The crowd is enthralled and this guy is positively charismatic. The music is fantastic and flows like wine. Seemingly tireless, Jackie goes on and on from one favorite to another, interacting with the audience and obviously speaking from his heart. His personality is sweet and it's so apparent he loves what he does...this guy will never work a day in his life because he loves his work....so does his audience. We never miss a chance to see him and are Jackie Green Road junkies ! What a talent and a gift he shares with us. Please go see him and his band in concert. An extreme pleasure and as we always call out aloud to him..."We love you Jackie !".

I live in Indiana and have been waiting to see Jackie Greene for more than a year. When I heard he was coming to Columbus Ohio and to Cincinnati I bought tickets for both and ti was worth every cent. This guy can write , sing and play guitar with anyone. He is an amazing guitar player and will someday be ranked at the top. Both shows were great with Jackie doing mostly his own material with some covers thrown in. I loved the taxman beatle cover and the Sugaree cover in Columbus with Chris Robinson coming out. Great Shows!

It would have been nice to know what the planned artist performance would be. Each artist getting up individually with just one other or solo was something I may not have attended. Tough if you're not crazy about one artist. The whole group performing was better. It's nice to know what you can expect & I think people are less disappointed that way.

Who needs electric guitars and amps when a group of skilled and passionate musicians can collaborate and generate a beautifully powerful vibe acoustically? Nothing but compliments for all the musicians including, Jackie Greene, Anders Osborne, Joan Osborne, Steve Earle, and Jason Crosby. It was an intimate performance that profoundly connected with the audience and the "amplification" was provided through the passion of the musicians themselves. The people in the audience that I encountered as well as myself were awed.

Jackie Greene not only can play the guitar, he sings with passion and his music is infectious. He paid homage to Bruce Springsteen by singing Dancing in the Dark....something you should do when you take the stage at the Stone Pony! This reviewer says....GO SEE HIM!

Jackie Greene is a true professional, a real artist of his craft. His songs are direct and honest. The Stone Pony was a great venue to see him for it felt very intimate. I personally loved his version of Dancing in the Dark in Bruce's hood and Shakedown St./the wall as well. I have to mention how clear and crisp the instruments sounded...fun night with a tight band.

Jackie Greene has confirmed that Music is in good stead! A lyrical and musical wonder, Jackie 's prose harkens back to the days of Dylan, The Dead, and Springsteen. Musically he has the guitar chops of a Garcia, Haynes, matching it with a voice of an Angel. On this night at Brighton Music Hall he and his tight band wowed the packed crowd with a display of old ( "I'm So Gone" which rocked!) and new music ("Now I Can See For Miles" a truly Chordal master) while covering the Allman's "Don't Keep Me Wondering" that would have made the Brothers proud! Do yourself a favor and listen to this music magic man! And go see him Live!

We hadn't seen Jackie live in a few years. He, and his electric band, put on an enjoyable, tight, longer show in Napa on Sat 3/26. The song selections were great! He performed his own material for the entire show - until he did three covers to conclude the set/encore. They did U2's "Streets With No Names" on which Jackie NAILED those tough vocals. Then they covered the Dead's "Jack Straw" very nicely. They finished up with an extra soulful, extended cover of the Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down". U2 and the Beatles are tough to cover, and he NAILED the vocals. Very impressive. My only thought was, how would he handle a Rollings Stones classic? Hmmmm..

Nicki and the Gramblers - I have listened to them from the beginning and it's so awesome to see/hear how much they have grown. The chemistry on stage and the vibe they put out to the crowd is amazing. Nicki sings with so much soul and energy, Deren slashes on guitar and the rest of the band make it all come together perfectly. Although the albums are great, seeing them live is something that you wouldn't get from a CD/record/MP3 experience. Jackie - Jesus this guy is talented. Piano, organ, guitar, singing; what else? Jackie and his band really got the house rocking with their set and it was a lot of fun to rock out with them. Look forward to hearing more of his music and seeing him live again.

It was a good show at the Fox. Jackie is always good. So incredibly talented. The Fox in Oakland is a great venue for concerts. I have been going to Jackie Greene's shows for many years now, I love his music. His new album is really good, he played songs from this one mostly. Only con is that his shows seem to be getting shorter and shorter. Not sure what is up with that. Saw him in Seattle a few months ago, and that was a short show as well. Anyway, Jackie Greene is fabulous, don't miss him if you get the chance to go to one of his shows.

WOW....I have seen Jackie many times opening for others and also with the Black Crowes. This show he was headlining and played for a good 1 1/2 hours. I could not get enough of his guitar work...I wanted more solo's and extended guitar riffs. Even though he was sick his voice sounded good. He played a couple songs on the keyboards showing his range and talent. Was a fun night of music !

Wasn't sure what to expect, I had never been to a show at the Record Bar and doubt I will ever return. Seating was terrible. Not much for stand for an entire show. Never heard Rich Robinson and was rather impressed. Liked the sound of his band. The crowd was really into it. I was disappointed that they played such a long set because I really went to hear Jackie Greene. I haven't seen Jackie since he played the Brighton Music Hall a few months ago with Trigger Hippy - FABULOUS SHOW! This recent show was not my favorite Jackie show. He seemed pre-occupied and not really into what was left of the crowd after Rich Robinson played. Next time I'll make sure he's the only one on the bill so I can get nothin but Jackie .....

The show was supposed to start at 8pm. We rolled in at 9:30pm thinking we'd miss the opening act and see Jackie Greene. As soon as we go there the some weird dude with an afro was jamming on stage. He walks off and the next guy comes on. It wasn't Jackie Greene. This guy plays for 2h (the same song? Maybe 2 different songs). Jackie didn't come on stage till well after midnight. We made it through 4 songs. I was falling asleep during the show. Venue was cool though?

Jackie Greene put on a great show as usaul.. I personally think he is one of the best and most enterining musicians . I try to catch him every time he comes around . I have seen him in varies groups and solo over 20 times . It was to bad he felt the need to put down boston on face book after the show ... Lost some popularity points ! The only draw back was that they started late and the opening act played a 90 minute set

Jackie is one of the most talented performers I know. And he keeps getting better and better. Wonderful to see him with his old band performing material from his excellent songbook, with a few great covers thrown in. His songwriting, vocal prowess, guitar playing, and high energy charisma were all on full display. They killed it at the Fox, and I'm sure won a ton of new fans.

I loved this show! I'm always impressed how Jackie Greene seems to find young musicians and brings them on up to open for him. Loved the Tumbleweed Wanderers. Their CD proves their talent and they did a great job doing a live performance. It's great for them to get exposure to a bigger audience. Mother Hips did a rocking show. Jackie Greene and his musicians did a stellar job at holding the audience in the palm of their hands. His standard songs were done with soul, but his acoustic ballads were the highlight of the night for me. He did a great job on Captain's Daughter and Cell Block #9, Love hearing him pull out that acoustic guitar or sit on the keys and sing his soul out. Yes, he's a rocker, but the heart of him lies in the singer songwriter inside. He had a new addition of keyboard player Adam McDougall from the Black Crowes. It was nice to hear a new twist on some of his standard plays and pull off some great classics like New Speedway Boogie and Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On." Another great night at the Fox and with Jackie Greene and his entire band. They all rock!

Such an underrated musician. He deserves much more recognition than he's gotten. The band is top notch, too. It was great to see him in such a small venue. Next time the Canyon Club needs to remove the dinner theater tables from the dance floor, as they usually do for every show I've been to. It's too bad the show was on the same night as the Oscars. I'm sure there would have been a bigger crowd. I can't even imagine how the artist might feel seeing such a small crowd, in a venue that can obviously bring in a lot more. That aside, it was still a great show!

Jackie Greene is a fabulous musician and songwriter who has grown over the six or seven years I've been following him. His stage presence is still a bit limited but he now has a solid band with wonderful sidemen who, like Jackie, also tend to be multitalented. All that talent and Jackie's deep songbook are enough for me, and that's what I want to see when I go to a Jackie Greene show. So why would he want to keep bringing up lesser performers to join him when they only serve to dilute the quality of the show. Nicki Bluhm I get. She's got a great voice and adds a nice change of pace. But the other performers he invites on stage--many appear to be personal friends--simply don't add anything except maybe more dead air while everybody tunes up. Puh-lease, enough with the endless guitar tuning already! Also, while I fundamentally love his Grateful Dead connection, when it's a Jackie show, a little Dead goes a long way--especially at the end of the show. There's plenty of Jackie material for some great closing numbers. Don't send me home with the Dead in my head.

Have seen Jackie Greene 5 times previous-the three of them at the Mystic Theater he scorched and brought the house down. The best live act I've seen in many years! Saturday though was Rusted Root's turn to shine brightly. They're the reason I gave a 5 star rating. The first time I've seen them. Powerful African rhythms, Spanish guitar, lots of multiinstrumental play amongst the 6 of them, as well as some fine vocals. They played for almost 2 hours. Had heard one of their albums previously and came away deeply impressed-looking forward to seeing them again. Jackie Greene was not up to his sizzling best Saturday as he lacked the intensity of recent performances. He did comment that we were "one of the quietest audiences I've seen" (not me!). Whatever the reason it will not deter me from catching him again soon- we all have off nights.Nice combination of acts though.

Once again Jackie has found a way to bring in a few friends on stage, mix it up while keeping his performances new and fresh. We drove Seattle to see the show as we're not fans of the Crocodile and the drive was well worth it! Loved the theater and location. Many have complained about the uncomfortable seating but there are lots of areas to stand if you choose. The only small downside was the sound was a little loud and the bass overpowering. Seemed like there were issues all night but even with that you still get 5 PLUS stars from this JG fan! Jabe Beyer was AMAZING as well! I'm a new fan!

We have been going to Jackie Greene shows for the past 10 years and always have a great time. However, tonight was a disappointment. With so many great songs to choose from, I cannot understand why he just played covers and jammed all night.. Save that for your garage.! We left a couple songs into his 2nd set...after an long break between sets, having only heard a handful of Jackie Greene's songs.

Despite ending a week of bad travel karma with his Alexandria arrival, Jackie Greene was amazing. It's rare to see technical perfection married to real soul to produce such elegant rock/blues/folk, but Jackie delivers in intelligent songs. I would have loved to see more acoustic work, but the show was amazing. Jackie engages the crowd, responds to comments & quietly cracks clever jokes. Each member of his band is talented. Jackie gives them the opportunity to shine, and they do. Can't wait for their return to the DC metro area!

Wow ...I went to see Jackie, loving his singer songwriter abilities. I had no idea he was such a killer guitar player. He jammed with the band and solo, feeding off the crowd who was right there with him. What a treat. His interview on KINK radio was fun...he is a guy I would like to know for sure.

FANTASTIC doesn't even begin to describe how good this show was. For as crappy as the sound can be in the Entry, Jackie and his band managed to overcome the primitive conditions and the sound was superb!

What a great concert. Jackie played for well over two and a half hours. The band was tight and having fun. One of the best concerts I have been to in the past few years. The sound system at the El Rey is top-notch.

Jackie Greene and his band were simply awesome Saturday night at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. He played two sets which included all kinds of JG favorites like "Mexican Girl" "Hollywood" and selections from his new album while mixing in songs from Marvin Gaye "I heard it on the Grapevine" into Pink Floyd into the Grateful Dead. Quite a night! Even a little Beatles throw in after midnight. This kid just keeps getting better and better. His guitar playing (both acoustic and electric) is stunning at times and his confident manner holds great promise for a long career. Check him out if you get a chance.

Jackie Greene has been on my "MUST SEE" list for years! Any time he is in the area, I have to go to the show. I (like many other Jackie Greene fans) travel up north every now and again to catch shows. There's always something a little different when he is playing in front of a home town crowd, and this Saturday at the El Rey, almost felt like I was in San Francisco seeing him perform at the GAMH, or the Fillmore. Not only is Jackie a great talent, so are all of his band mates. Nathan Dale is fantastic on guitar (The guy can also play the piano/ organ set up Jackie has? Yes, Yes he can.), it has been great seeing him get some solos in, and watching both he and Jackie trading licks. Jeremy Plog is wonderful on bass, and is now getting his own moment in the spotlight on guitar. I've seen Jackie play with three or so different drummers, and the newest member of the group (I didn't catch his name) is really good!! These guys blend so well, and will knock your socks off. The El Rey was really a great venue for Jackie and his band. The sound was great, and this was probably one of the best LA crowds that I can remember (for some reason, some of these kids are "too cool" to even clap). I sure hope they'll come back soon!

Went to the Jackie Greene concert on February 4, 2011 at the Alladin Theater in Portland, OR - an absolutely amazing show. Launched into the driving "Don't Let the Devil Take Your Mind" to kick start the crowd, and it just got better and better as the show went on. Treated to a wonderful rendition of "I Heard it on the Grapevine". An amazingly talented set of musicians - Steve Berlin was on sax and occasional keyboards. JG plays every instrument beyond his years, but his voice and entertainment style blew me away. Highly recommended show.

Jackie Greene is a must see. His music is fantastic and his covers of the Grateful Dead, Beatles, Merle Haggard, Lou Reed are sometimes better than the originals. No two shows are alike!

My first time at the Uptown Theater. I really enjoyed the venue. The sound system was awesome. The staff was very accomodating and friendly, unlike some that I have been to. Now, Jackie greene.... He was at his best! I have seen him on at least 5 other occasions and this was by far the best show that I have seen. Most of the the others were outdoor events and that may have had a little to do with it, but all I can say is WOW!

THe Uptown theater is lovely, small, low key and friendly. Very nice remodel I heard from many who were there when it was a movie theater years ago. Jackie's first acoustic set was great, similar to the acoustic set he did with the same guitarist at Hop Monk in Sebastopol awhile ago. Second set rocked, and the theater allowed dancing along the aisle on the right side up front. His addition of the three Grateful Dead songs is getting predictable but the crowd loves it.

I first heard Jackie at the SF Blues festival, must have been ten years or so. He absolutely mesmerized the crowd there. He was just a kid! He is one of the best live shows out there and he justs keep getting better every time I see him. Thanks Jackie, keep working hard and doing your thing.

Jackie Greene is a phenomenally talented musician, gifted vocalist and delightful song writer. Anybody who has not seen Jackie perform is cheating themselves out of a top notch entertainment experience. Jackie's talent really shines through when you evaluate the quality of his arrangements - the individual voices of his band's instrumentation are interwoven as a part of a complete story that is delightful to hear. Don't miss the next time he makes his way east and holds a jam session at the Ark.

Jackie is such a truly talented artist. He is amazing to watch perform. He relates to his audience and gives a wonderful show. Clearly is more into his art than he is to being a star, though a star he should be. His fans will agree. I'm so glad that I saw his show. I am a relatively new fan but am now a permanent fan. Will watch for anytime that he comes back to Michigan.

I gave it 3 stars, but Jackie Greene himself was 5 stars. The venue was terrible for this style of concert. The crowd was stuffy and very pretentious. Singing along with the artist was frowned upon. Jackie Greene would have been better to just sing to a mirror. You had to purchase a membership in order to purchase alcohol which I found ridiculous. I will never attend another show at the Ark. Hopefully Jackie Greene will play somewhere different when he comes to Michigan. a word of note. Apache Relay, a band from Nashville opened and they were really good. I highly recommend them.

Atlanta needs to come out and see this guy Jackie Greene if he ever comes back. He toured all Summer with Gov't Mule, but he did not come to ATL because DMB did a double bill with Gov't Mule in ATL. I blame this unfortunate event as the reason why only about 30-40 people in ATL even know who Jackie Greene is. He is a singular talent, and he put on a special show.
