It was amazing to see Kaki perform her first album from start to finish. Her style is unique and captivating to witness live. See her solo, and get up front!

Kaki played an intoxicating set. She commanded the attention of the audience while keeping a personal feel. Ending her set with a remix of Gay Sons of Lesbian Mothers reminiscent of club music, and coming down in to the crowd to dance with them was just as memorable as her hands blurring rhythmically up and down the guitar neck.

Kaki King is an extraordinary musician in so many ways. She has a grasp for styles and moods and is so technically proficient that every performance is simply amazing. It is a joy to see and hear her perform. Kaki engaged the audience and not only performed but became part of the whole experience from both sides of the stage. Her ability to produce beautiful music is fantastic and we cannot wait to see her again.

Not only is the Bowery Ballroom a cool venue and An Horse a kick ass opening act, but Kaki King is insane! She plays the guitar like she has 14 fingers; its awe inspiring. She's ridiculously talented, personable and just rocks out. This was the best show I have seen in a long time, maybe ever, and I'm at a show at least once a week. Would highly recommend seeing her!!! I'm already online trying to find another show of her's near me.

Kaki is a phenomenal player who must be seen live to be fully appreciated. Her songs come alive in a concert setting although she bantered a little too much to some jerks in the audience. Also she didn't come until after 10pm which meant some of us had to leave before she ended to catch our last bus/train. Overall, Kaki was great!

Everything was amazing, she rocked harder than ever. However the people were talking really loud? so annoying and I had to wait in line in the rain before getting into the club.

I showed up to the show roughly halfway through An Horse's set, which was quite good. I was expecting kaki king to put on a great show but their performance was simply incredible. The drummer was spot-on and the (bassist?) played some bizarre instrument i've never seen before...basically a foot and a half long cross between a digeridoo and a saxophone but it was electronic and sounded almost exactly like a bass guitar...so weird but also well played. Kaki herself played the guitar in ways i've never seen it played before. Between strumming, finger picking (often with both hands at the same time) and completely rocking out on the guitar, it was honestly some of the best and most skillful guitar playing i've ever seen.

Kaki King showed her ability to create sounds and mold them into whatever she wants. Her ability to engage the audience with her banter was fun but more importantly was the attention her art attracted. Everyone at the venue was mesmerized and taken to a special place through her music.

First of all, the Bowery Ballroom is an awesome venue, very intimate. An Horse was just great. Amazing energy and purely good music. Kaki is just the best. It was a truly indescribable experience. She's an incredible guitarist and hard rocker. We had some great talks and she jumped downstage and danced with me and my friends. Imagine meeting and dancing with your idol...I did last night.

Kaki King is the best guitarist alive. I definitely prefered her instrumental pieces to the songs with vocals. Her music is beautiful anyway, but when it emanated from the stage, the drums just rattled your bones- it was awesome!

Kaki always puts on a great show. Last December I saw her at Williamsburg when she had a ruptured ear drum, and even though she was in pain and couldn't hear very well she managed to be funny and impressive... at least a 4 star show. Healthy Kaki is even better. Her shows are getting heavier and more lively but still manage to have the mellow acoustic stuff that made her famous. Jaw-dropping. For the encore she launched into the crowd and danced after setting up Gay Sons of Lesbian Mothers. And then she hung out and drank Vodka Tonics with everyone after the show.

Amazing show! The openers, An Horse, are fantastic! They create such beautiful, big sound with just a guitar and drums, and everyone rocked out to their songs. They were also friendly and happy to say hello and chat after the show, which is rare in today's fast-paced entertainment world. Kaki was unbelievable right from the start, playing "Falling Day" off her new record "Junior", which had just been released several days prior. She then did some amazing crazy solo on the guitar, and played 'pull me out alive', and some other songs I don't know the names of. It was a great experience: the crowd was receptive, the venue had good sound, great views, clean bathrooms, and nice bartenders. I would love to go back soon!

Kaki was good, An horse was good too but the show started WAY TOO LATE! I couldn't even stay for the whole event because I was so tired. She played for 2 hours and ended at midnight. Other than that it was great. First time at the Wonder Ballroom and its a super nice venue. Its like a MIni Crystal Ballroom but more personal and cleaner! I would love to play a show there myself.

I've never seen Kaki King play. I've only heard her complex, rhythm-driven guitar playing and airy, scintillating vocals on my radio. Last night, seeing and hearing her create music, she was incredible. After watching her hands fly over her guitars, I still couldn't explain how she makes the music that she does, but the energy was palpable, the music was meaningful, and her performance was unforgettable. I had no expectations going into this show, and Kaki Kind definitely didn't disappoint. A great venue, a great band, and an overall amazing experience.

The concert was exceptional. The beginning with An Horse only set us up for one of Kaki's best concerts I've seen in the Cities. In the intimate atmosphere of the Varsity there was something for everyone. Kaki's easy banter with the audience set apart the amazing complexity of her music. Kaki's extremely talented 2-man band was an unexpected delight . I've never seen Kaki with a "band" and this concert proved that her creativity continues to expand. The digital saxophone was amazing. This concert proved once again Kaki is one of the most incredible guitarists, anywhere, from any time.

The show was great. I arrived a bit late, so I only saw kaki king...which of course is the main reason why I went. She is so talented and plays original music in a way no other artist does. Kaki King was a fantastic concert. She plays the guitar like it's a ton of diffrent instruments. She is able to make a guitar sound like nothing I have ever heard before. Throw in an amazing drummer and some other way out instruments and you've got yourself a party. I don't know how you can combine amazingly mellow rhythm guitar and super electronica rock but she manages. Way to go!

This was the best concert I've ever been to! The venue was amazing, it wasn't too crowded, pictures were allowed, the opener started right at 7:30, and Kaki started just a few minutes after 8:00 - none of the usual waiting-around-for-a-million-hours-for-the-main-act. She played a wide range of songs, even some really old stuff, and generally stuck to her best stuff. She even came into the audience and danced! All in all, I have nothing to complain about - every aspect of the show was great, and I have never been so satisfied with a concert.

First, An Horse was a really good, tight opening act. They were really nice people, too! Kaki King was very funny and sweet-- definitely charming. It helps that she's wildly talented. I've listened to her albums a million times, but she was still able to make the songs different / suited to a live performance.

My first time at the Park West and it will not be my last! To see such talented musicians and artists play at such a lovely venue was totally worth the 2 hour drive to get there. I went with two other people; college students, and they loved it as much as I did! We were able to purchase CD's and get our merchandise signed too ... we played the music of An Horse and Kaki King all the way home. I had never seen Kaki King perform before lat night but wanted to see An Horse play again since I had heard them play several times and seen them on the David Letterman show a couple of years ago. Now I am a fan of both bands! Beautiful people! Beautiful music! Wonderful night!

Easily the best show I have ever seen. An horse was amazing and charming as always. Kaki King was ferocious. It being a home town show helped too. So much emotion in everything she played and danced and jumped and scowled and just completly torn it down tongue waging. The light was beautiful and added so much to her instrumental parts. Who can turn down a dance party with kaki? Not me.

Loved the show. The atmosphere was great, and the bands were wonderful. An Horse blew me away, and I had a great view right next to the stage. Only downside was that being so close meant that I couldn't hear the vocals too well, but friends sitting further back didn't have a problem hearing anything. Kaki King was awesome up on stage, all her songs rocked. I especially loved when she came off the stage to dance with fans. PLEASE have these bands playing at the Variety Playhouse again. Kaki is expanding her talent. The 3 piece group is totally connected. No small feat considering the creative surprises Kaki produces with her tempo contrasts. Kaki spent the first hour going through her entire first album, took a 10 min break and then returned to the stage, this time accompanied by drummer and AVI player. The second half was more rock n roll style. Throughout the concert, Kaki was - as usual - extremely witty with the crowd. She's sharp as a razor, plays fantastic and presents a what you see is what you get form throughout. This was the best of the three concerts I've seen her in the past few years.

If you've never heard Kaki, or seen her live, you owe it to yourself to do so. I am approaching the sixty year old mark, and if I had a bucket list, this would have been on it. In the midst of a whirlwind US tour and recently married, Kaki King could have any excuse for being distracted from a single show. But Friday night at the Howard she nailed it. While the majority of her set list were drawn from her newest album, Glow, she made sure to include a heap of older favorites and made their inclusion feel meaningful. All in all, the evening was an intimate show with quick and easy transitions through several songs in a row that provided the crowd with 15 minute bursts of uninterrupted performance punctuated by a couple minutes of banter as a guitar was switched or tuned. She explained the stories behind her more elaborate or unusual instruments and conversation never became dull. I lost count of the positive comments as people enthused to one another on their way out at the end of the night.

Kaki and her crew put on a phenomenal performance! She played a solid mix of tracks of her most recent Dreaming of Revenge and upcoming album, with a couple old songs for good measure. The raw energy she showcases on stage is great to watch and pretty infectious; the audience quickly gave way to spontaneous dancing and rarerly stopped head banging. Kaki King surprised all in attendance with the fidelity of her songs to what is on her recordings despite only having two supporting members; it is fascinating to see just what instruments are being played, and how much work she is doing on each song. This was the last show in a long tour that she played with An Horse, which gave the evening a bittersweet feeling as we will all have to wait a while until we can have this much fun again.

I wasn't too crazy about Kaki's opening act, An Horse. All the songs sounded the same, although the younger members of the crowd seemed to really enjoy the two piece band from down under. Kaki was amazing! Her band was tight. For a three-piece band I couldn't believe the sound they produced. The drummer had enough energy to fill the venue. The AVI player impressed me with the many different sounds he produced from filling in the bass riffs to covering surrrealistic wind and brass. Kaki's skill on the guitar was top level. Not only did she play the acoustic picking that we all know, she rocked on several different electrics. Two hours straight, her fingers must have been vibrating. A very memorable evening.
