A very civilized, social event bringing together gourmet picnic items, incredible muscians in a gorgeous open air venue. One of Music City's treasures! Pack your picnic, cooler & folding chaisr for 90 minutes of music under the stars. Wrap up the evening with a peek in through the telescope at Dyer Obeservatory.

Our car load thoroughly enjoys the evening with good friends and good food and usually great entertainment. Some are better then others. We seems to prefer the individual writers rather then a trio of people who sing/tour together. Victoria Banks was by far our favorite, but we enjoyed many who's names I can remember. All a matter of personal taste. We love Blue Bird on the Mountain even when it's cold. Love the sponsors and the taste of Jack Daniels It wouldn't hurt to raise the stage a bit.

We missed one concert but the rest were outstanding. We took several friends when one of our group could not go and they were all impressed. The atmosphere, the casualness of it, the variety or talent was more than we had expected. We thank the Blue Bird and all the sponsors for such enjoyable evenings. These type of musical experiences are what make Nashville so unique.

Wonderful music and delightful environment. We've been attending for years--Sat night's show may have been the best one yet.

For the first-timers to BBOTM you are in for an authentic musical experience. Take a true-love, your family, or people you don't even know to the serene venue and enjoy the music and atmosphere under the stars. I advise taking a picnic basket, a bottle of your favorite bev, fold-up chairs and a little bug spray. You won't forget it!!

We love Bluebird on the Mountain and try to go to as many as we can each year. The songwriters are always great, and coupled with good friends, a nice picnic and a cool night, this is easily the best music event in Nashville.

We were so certain that it would get rained out and, then, to our surprise, it turned out to be a fantastic evening. The musicians were very entertaining. Parking was no problem. Overall a wonderful experience

The banter between songwriters can either be interesting or insider info that excludes the audience. I found the latter to be true Saturday night. In my opinion, there was too much dead time between songs and the show was too long. But, thankfully, that is the exception for the Bluebird events I have attended. I am looking forward to the next one!

Best musical experience in town by far. Sometimes the artists aren't as good as other times, but the place is so neat that it is not a problem. Suggestion: open up the paved road to the left of the stage for seating.

We have enjoyed the Bluebird on the Mountain for 3 seasons now. Really enjoy getting a few friends together and listening to good music under the stars. Our main complaint is that there is one group of male songwriters who perform every year and despite claiming that they write an infinite number of songs deem to sing the same thing year after year. We were very dismayed by that. It's as if they are jaded and can't be bothered with putting together a new set. They even tell the same stories and jokes. Good Grief. However, this is the group with the amazing harmonica player. He is not to be missed!!!! I believe his name is Jellyroll Johnson (?). His playing is eloquent. The other events have been varied. There can be quite a variation in quality of songs, singing and performance.

We loved everything about Bluebird on the Mountain. Tom Douglas is wonderful and the evening weather was perfect. The only thing I would recommend is to get there early so you get a good spot for your chairs and food.

Bluebird on the Mountain is a special event. It is outdoors, the stage is in front of the dome of the telescope. The ticket admits up to 8 people in the same vehicle. The parking was a little problematic but it worked. There were more SUVs than a child's soccer tournament. Everyone brings chairs and the wine bottles and finger foods come out. The artists were great. Rodney Crowell, Emmy Lou Harris's long time band leader and solo artist of note, was the draw. Beth Neilsen Chapman and Marcus Hummon held their own in the songwriter sing around. The format was the "songwriters in the round" style as used at the legendary Bluebird Cafe. The performances were not polished (lines forgotten, singing off key) but the show accomplished its purpose, showcasing song writing talent. Beth had some lovely ballads and pop songs. Her no. 1 hit "This Kiss" was accompanied by an impromptu chorus of 3 children reluctantly drafted from stage side. Beth dedicated a song to her neurosurgeon for saving her life. He was in attendance and happened to be seated near me. He treated a brain tumor. The doctor wept through the song. Marcus Hummon had a remarkable voice and wit. His recent hit "The Broken Road" covered by Rascal Flatts was performed. Crowell did not focus on his trademark songs. He played lesser known songs for the most part. The crowd loved his country ballad, "It's hard to kiss the lips at night' (that chewed my ass out all day long" In Nashville, crowds are appreciative but they listen quietly to the songs while they are played. The lyrics are the focus. The performers are left wing politicos and that theme was carried forth. The real theme was love, as is true of most popular songs of any genre. Crowell seemed a little divaish controlling the rotation strangely. Don't know what that was about. The bottom line was an entertaining, creative event in a quiet outdoor venue. I did not tour the telescope after the music, but it was offered.

I love BB on the Mtn. It's a great setting, fun to take friends, and we get creative with the food and wine. BUT, there have been too many repeat acts with the same shows each year. They're wonderful, but they aren't as fun the 2nd time around. It would be nice to mix it up a little.

The setting for these concerts is unbeatable. The music is outstanding. One of the concerts was a letdown. It involved 3 musicians/songwriters/singers who not only had zero chemistry between them, they seemed to not even like each other. They did not play a note of backup for each other. The other concerts were outstanding.

We've been season ticket holders for several years now and we hope to continue that tradition. It is our favorite warm weather activity. Perfect event for a bottle of wine and occasional surprise. Consistently good singer/songwriters, civil wine and cheese crowd and families, and the Dyer Observatroy makes for a beautiful locale,

The performance in the chilly rain (well, part of the time) at Dyer Observatory will stay in my memory. The four outstanding performers showed talent and skill in their their musical ability and their knowledge of how to entertain an audience. The songs performed by the three songwriters were a nice blend of different sounds that fit together well; maybe a few more songs on the maudlin side than some of us would have liked, but plenty of humor and surprises as well. Jellyroll Johnson's harmonica playing was a wonderful accent that gave a bluesy flavor to the evening. It felt like a community. Since the tickets are sold by the carload, everyone was there with friends and picnics. That added to the pleasant atmosphere of the evening. Highly recommended.

The concert with Flowers, House and Johnstone was absolutely outstanding and amazing. Being from the Live Music Capitol of the World, we are accustomed to hearing great live music at great venues. The music was "5 Star" and the lawn of the Dyer was "5 Star." All three singer songwriters are accomplished and deserve more attention than they receive. Congratulations to the folks at the Bluebird for putting together a stellar event. We highly recommend the event.
