The Cribs

I had waited to go see The Cribs for over five years, and not that I finally turned eighteen, was off from school, and the show was somewhere without a 21+ requirement, I was finally able to see them live. They have been my favorite band for a really long time, so this was something I knew I had to go to. The preceding bands were fairly good, and the anticipation of The Cribs made every moment worthwhile. When they finally came on, it was not an awkward entrance, but very professional, as they just jumped in and began playing their music. Their energy is something that I have never seen in any other band of the same genre. It's difficult to explain, but it's very sincere and heartfelt, making every lyric in every song count. Made everything believable and human (which is often a quality lost in a concert). So great to see musicians with such passion and a real talent. After the show, me and a few other people stuck around to get signatures. To my surprise, and absolute joy, they came out to greet us and were very kind and altogether nice to us, fans. We were able to converse with them, which is something that any big fan would consider try to keep in their memories as vivid as it was in the moment. Needless to say, this wrapped up the night to be one the best nights of my life (couldn't even fall asleep). In summary, The Cribs put on an incredible show- just the right amount of old songs and new songs (including all my favorites), an energy that no other band has been able to pull off so well, and cared enough to come see their fans after the show. Ryan, Gary and Ross have proved to be the kind of talented people that are difficult to find these days. I have met several bands, but never have I seen such kindness towards fans as they displayed. A very mature image to leave with me, and all the others who I'm sure were not disappointed. Definitely left me wanting more. Well done, my friends.

I understand it was my first time seeing them, and I had some high expectations. Maybe it was not a huge crowd, or the band was super wasted or high on something. Either way, after putting out four albums, and with another one on it's way, they only performed maybe 10 songs including few from the new album which nobody even heard of since it's not released yet. I would thought coming all the way from UK, they would have at least played an encore, but they simply walked off with the common "I'm leaving my guitar still on by the amp to continue the music journey" type of crap. Thinking they would have come back for an encore, everyone patiently waited until the crew gave the "slit the neck" sign and the lighting people turned back on the room lights. Then everyone left disappointed. I don't know if I was the only one feeling disappointed that they had no encore. I mean, I've seen encores from other bands including bands from France and Columbia, etc. I don't know if it's their punk attitude or whatever the deal was, I left very upset because I was really looking forward to their concert after being a fan for many years. I wonder if they would be different toward UK fans. Maybe they let their ego got way over their heads, and just by listening to them bragging about "I'm the best guitarist in the world" type of crap. Then played something so awful right after to "show off" the guitar skill, I just felt sad for them. I was super pumped for some bands that I have never heard of before, and enjoyed a whole night of concert, but I was nearly half as pumped at this concert. Some people were mosh pitting in the center, but they were only doing it because they were drunk. When people crowd surfed onto the stage, the only thing the band could do was starring at them and just standing there. There was no excitement but arrogance that I got from the concert. The two opening bands were ok. The sad part was I couldn't even get their band names. I really enjoyed the first band, but I don't even think they introduced themselves. However, the energy was there and I was excited to watch them play. The second band should play first because they brought down the energy, and the bassist was trying to talk to some girls standing by the stage before and during the performance. His skill wasn't even there, and he was more concerned with his almost emptied beer cup. I have never been this disappointed and left with almost a bit of rage from this concert. Something was off, and I couldn't figure out why. I always thought they might put off a great performance with higher energy level, but I was wrong. I was standing right by the stage, and I couldn't even feel the hype. This makes me want to give up on going to concerts, and that's really sad because I am going to see The Cranberries next month.

The gig was more than epic. I was highly anticipating the show and The Cribs never even attempted to disappoint. The energy was great and Bowery Ballroom was the perfect place for it. The Von Bondies also played a great opening show. If you're contemplating on seeing the bands or going to Bowery Ballroom than I can immensely guarantee you won't regret it.

Venue was so small, got to stand in the front row. Great energy from both the crowd and the band. Played a good variety of new and old. Sound quality was a little lacking, but still a great show! Got to meet Ryan after the show.

Okay from the moment they walked on, with few words for introduction, they played their souls out. Real, grit, brit punk rock. No stops for little stories about how they got a philosophical inspiration to write a song after witnessing a praying mantis devour it's mate, just straight punk rock. Awesome show. Went with my boyfriend and some friends that weren't able to get in (only downfall, shame on you Music Hall!) but overall it was great

The Cribs were epic. They have so much energy and their new songs so amazing. I would recommend anyone go to their show anytime.

Its was a great show. It was in a small venue and everyone had a close view at the band. Just Amazing!

Opening band stunk and I wasn't impressed with Cribs performance either. LEft early.

Let's start with the venue. Small, intimate, with great sound, perfect for a show like this. The opening act (Jemina Pearl) was a great little surprise, prompting me to even go as far as to buy one of their CD's after the show. The Cribs themselves were tremendous. From Johnny Marr's cool and calculated guitar to the Jarman brothers' scathing vocals, no part of the show disappointed.

The Cribs were definitely putting out the pulsating vibes with tons of energy! I was disappointed for them as the Portland crowd was lackluster which keep the energy in the crowd subdued for such a high energy show. The two disappointing things about the band was they did not appear that they wanted be at the show and there wasn't an Encore! What is up with that?????

The Cribs prove once again they are more than the band currently housing Johnny Marr. The show was spectacular. Ryan and Gary played out to the audience with intense energy that was contagious. Ross took the showmanship of drumming to a new level. Johnny was on top form as always. The set list was undeniably superb; ranging from old hits to amazing tracks off their newest record. There was even a video guest appearance from Lee Ranaldo. The show was amazing on all levels and I am sorry for everyone who missed it. I highly recommend that everyone sees this band if given the opportunity, I know I will see them the next time they are nearby. (The only regrettable moment was when a Morrissey impersonator tried to bother the boys onstage. Shame on that man.)

They rocked out like the old days! Awesome opening band and fun show.

that was my 2nd gig at the bowery and my 30th cribs gig altogether,i came all the way from scotland for the two shows,and that gig was easily one of the best ive seen them play,the von bondies were also on top form

really great show. though started pretty late and a bit rush towards the end. cribs and the crowd are amazing! the von bond band is a surprise too.
