On March 2nd the United States, Poland, and Sweden all united under one flag, the Metal flag. The Fillmore Silver Spring is an impressive concert venue, with plenty of space for both the fan focused on listening to the music, as well as those taking it all in and moshing right in front of its massive stage. This setting really worked for all bands, as it highlighted their individual strengths, and provided fans with a chance to appreciate four different styles of arguably Metal's most agressive subgenre... Death Metal. Tribulation opened the Metal festivities with a set rooted in in the aformentioned subgenre, but enhanced by Doom, Classic Rock, and Psychedelia inflences. Based on the audience's reaction, they sure picked up more fans on this evening. Aeon is a legendary underground band, that was long overdue for touring in the USA. They made the most of this opportunity by providing an intense and tightly executed set, that showed their invididuality, and also the huge influence the band that would followed has on them. Pioneers. Innovators. Legends. You can't never run out of superlatives for one of the most original, and successful, Death Metal bands in history. Cannibal Corpse came to the Fillmore with a new album (A Skeletal Domain), and was received with a homecoming for their lead-singer George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, who was born and raised in nearby Baltimore MD. Their set included songs from all of eras, combining tracks from the latest album, with classics like 'Hammer Smashed Face" with the famous bass-break from Alex Webster. Cannibal Corpse is a national Metal treasure, and long may the keep making gory tales with epic soundtracks. Behemoth are one of the biggest Metal bands in the world; this is an undisputable fact. Their rise has been meteorical; they have overcome controversy, critics, and even the near-death experience from frontman Adam 'Nergal' Darski who suffered from Leukemia. They have come back with a vengeance, and their life-affirming set showed one of the most professional sets I've ever seen. Every detail, gesture, and noted played had a purpose. This is only achieved by artists that really work on their craft, and it's obvious that Behemoth think everything through, and as a fan I appreciate a band putting their heart into ensuring that it's the best show they can produce. You could sense that you were watching something special, and Behemoth's set was worth the ticket price alone. Given recent reports about the band considering a hiatus, make sure you don't miss the chance to experience them live; you'll thank me later.

In words to start all of this off they were insane. Touring with Lamb of God and Slayer was a great lineup, unfortunately I didn't get to the venue as quick as I could so I couldn't hear their opening songs but as soon as I showed up you can bet I fought my way to the front. When The Satanist album had come out I was immediately jointed into so many more options of metal music. I'm a newcomer to their music but, I don't see myself disappearing from concerts like this EVER! Everyone was fantastic and I wan't to eventually see when they are HEADLINERS and not openers!

Behemoth. Every new show is more amazing than the past. Live blasphemy, energy, audience interaction. I really couldn't ask for more.

The venue was easy to find and was clean and well maintained. And Myrkur played a good set to a good reception. Behemoth came next and just tore the place a new one.

Myrkur was awesome and sounded great. Behemoth sounded terrible. The mix was way off. I know Behemoth can play. I blame the sound guy.

Bought tickets to see Cannibal Corpse, as they are one of the original torch bearers for death metal, but was pleased by the rest of the line-up that night. Tribulation was not my style, and really didn't appreciate their music that much. However, Aeon was incredible! Great technicality and stage presence! I hope they return to the States for future tour dates. Cannibal was a little disappointing, in my opinion. It wasn't the tightest show I've ever seen, and there was a lack of connection with the crowd. Despite that, it was still entertaining. Behemoth was far and away the best of the night. Simple, yet atmospheric stage set. Perfect performance from the musical side, and they interacted with the crowd well. Brutal, brutal set! Highly recommended show for those who enjoy death metal.

Got to the show pretty late so missed the two opening bands but made it just in time to see Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth. Couldn't see the stage because most people were much taller than me but Cannibal Corpse sounded sick and the energy was amazing (plus my top two favorites were played). After they left stage a bunch of people left and Behemoth came on so I could actually see them on stage and it was just as awesome and such. The ending of their set was so beautiful I could have punched a unicorn. Hope they come back because that would be worth seeing again!

This was one of the best concerts of my life. All 4 bands put on excellent performances, especially Cannibal and Behemoth. I will say this though, get to this venue early if you want good parking.

Got these tickets for my bf for Valentine's Day. This was his fourth time seeing Cannibal Corpse and second seeing Behemoth. He said it was the best performance he had seen from both. We had a great time!

First of all, credit goes to this venue and their staff. Well organized, courteous, and an excellent place to see a concert. I will definitely make this a place I CHOOSE to see an event. Crowd was very supportive and enthusiastic about all the bands. Tribvlation and Aeon were strong support and I imagine garnered a few new fans. Cannibal Corpse is at the top of their genre and show no signs of slowing down. Wild pits and crowd surfing aplenty! Behemoth command attention from the minute they arrive on stage and keep it throughout the entire performance. Always professional performance and never leave disappointed. If you like intense music and atmosphere, this is the show to see, feel, and leave thirsty for more!

Considering there were four bands on the bill that night, everything went pretty smoothly, with great sets from all four bands and minimal time between acts. House of Blues New Orleans is a pretty good venue for seeing bands as it is not too big nor too small and the sound is usually pretty good. Pretty much anywhere in the standing room only venue affords good visibility of the stage. There is premium seating upstairs and to stage right on the first floor but what's a concert without rubbing elbows with the sweaty, moshing masses!

Incredible show! While Behemoth and 1349 put on a more theatrical show, Goatwhore owned it in the pit.

The bands before Watain were not very impressive, but I had never heard Watain before and thought they put on a pretty good show...Behemoth, however blew everyone else out of the water. I love how close we can get to the performance every time we see a show at the Masquerade - this time, we were even able to meet and take pictures with Nergal (Behemoth front man) after the show. This was definitely one of the most memorable concert experiences I have ever had!

Behemoth returned to California in a big way. As I am from southern Orange County, I did miss the first few bands, but I arrived in time to see Watain. I had heard of them, but I hadn't heard them directly, and they were quite amazing and incredibly talented. They had amazing energy and I can think of few other bands that can so perfectly lead in to Behemoth. That leads me to the headliner and the powerful return of Nergal after his victory over leukemia. I have seen Behemoth many times and they get better every time, this was no different. Their energy and musicianship does nothing but improve as they perfect their art. I am a very tame person--I generally sit in the back and don't mosh, don't headbang, and just enjoy the music. Behemoth is the exception. By the end of their set, I was moving with everyone else. The only downside I can put has nothing to do with the band. House of Blues Sunset Strip is probably the worst venue I can name. They severely overbook every concert. I understand going into a moshpit gives you the expectation of having little room and lots of contact, but being outside of it should give you enough room to move around. I'm not joking when I say I had about two inches to myself, and that was the case for everyone else. When it was time to leave, I had to plan about twenty minutes ahead to make it to the exit. So, in summation: Watain and Behemoth earn 5 stars for being awesome. HoB Sunset earns 0.

...and left right after they played. Not into the other bands on the bill. TDB are a great band and I really hope they come back soon. Thank you Decibel for bringing them to US and exposing them to a wider audience!
