deadmau5

Electro-house artist Deadmau5 -- easily identifiable in concert by the giant, light-up mouse-head perched atop his head as he performs -- has firmly entered the mainstream after about a decade of building legions of head-bobbing fans at festivals and on his own tours. He's kept those fans close by getting more than eight million of them to keep in touch via Facebook, where he regularly shares his musings and a steady stream of music he's working on. His music pulls from across the EDM spectrum, from techno to house to trance. Canadian native Joel Zimmerman, a.

My first Deadmau5 show will not be my last. Venue right in the heart of the city! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Not uncomfortably loud as I expected - ended up being fine without earplugs. Place was packed, but the vibe was communally festive. Had a great time beginning to end!

First time at the Fox Theater in Oakland and it didn't disappoint! Security was nice and the line getting in was quick and easy. Bathroom lines were not bad and seemed to be stocked through out the night. Drinks were a bit more than other clubs in SF/Oakland area. Would like to see shows here go past 11:15PM.

Joel says he's not a real DJ and that he doesn't know how to read a crowd but he's sure got me fooled. Every single song absolutely killed, his song selection and timing are spot on. On top of that he's such a great showman, he knows how to play it when he's got his head on. His mannerisms are all around are entertaining, even little stuff like his magic beer refill. Also, I love the House of Blues acoustics, much better venue than some of the other Houston places (i.e. Reliant Arena).

The entire show was mind-blowing. The sound system was top-notch, the performances by both the opening DJ and Deadmau5 were unforgettable, and best of all, tickets were not expensive at all. I would have paid 10 times what I actually paid for that ticket. It was completely worth it.

This was an amazing show. The opening DJ was good. Deadmau5 started on time at 10:00 (first time I've ever seen a DJ that actually started on time) and put on a showstopper. The light show and video screen was over the top. I will definitely see him again and again. A true crowd pleaser and great interaction with fans.

Deadmau5 is amazing. One of the best DJs out there. House of blues however although a nice set up in itself, ruined the show. He started playing at nine and the show ended at 12:20. I assume this is due to the fact that it was all ages and therefore cannot go so late. Normally the shows don't begin until 12:00 and continue through 4 AM. It didnt have the same vibes as other full access events. A major let down.

I'm not just saying that...I am a Deadmau5 fan, however, I did not expect the show to be this amazing...of course, he is prodominantly house so I assumed he'd just play mainly chill music that would be hard to dance to, but he blew us away with his set. He stuck to everyone's favorites with a lot of new stuff in between for a solid set. Way better than Tiesto did earlier in the year...Awesome show!

It would have been nice to know who opened for Dead Mou5. It was great music, great venue, I just wasn't expecting such a young crowd. I think my group was expecting burner type energy and it just wasn't there. My group dressed as mice and me as a cat, thinking this was going to be a more creative crowd, not so, very few of the fans dressed up at all. The plus side to this, people where asking to take our picture all night. I would have much rather have seen this show out on the playa.

The tickets said the doors open at 8, like most concerts of this genre. Typically, however, the headlining DJ will not come out until midnight (or later). Apparently Deadmau5 came on stage at 9:30. I don't know if it was Deadmau5's or the HOB's decision, but as a result my friends and I missed half of the show. Deadmau5 puts on a GREAT performance though, no doubt. Go see for yourself!!!

This was my 5th time seeing deadmau5, and once again he blew me away. His visuals are amazing, the sound quality is incredible, and he finds a way to remix each of his hits so that it's a unique experience each time. In my opinion, there isn't any electronic musician on par with him. Can't wait to see him again!

For decade old fans, the set was lacking. No flow to the show, but he's not a people pleaser. I liked the crowd, older and not as rude as some crowds, but all the seats were filled and most who stood did not dance. Hard to feel the vibe in the room unless you were intoxicated. Go for the visuals with no expectations and you'll probably be fine. Also, Feed Me was pretty good, but sounded less like typical Feed Me and more like Deadmau5 (just so you aren't surprised.)

Really enjoyed Deadmau5 concert. I liked the fact that I there was ample seating in the back because I wasn't in the mood to stand for 3 hours straight. People were courteous for the most part as they usually are here in the Pacific Northwest. The first DJ was just a "warm up" DJ, I wish I had known that. I was wondering why he wasn't wearing a mouse head. The "warm up" DJ actually had the crowd rocking more than Deadmau5 did, haha. I guess this is because some of Deadmau5's songs have some really long, slow intros and some of the songs he played really droned on and on... The warm up DJ kept it fresh, although after 20 minutes or so, people were really into Deadmau5 so that was good. He played his popular songs like Ghosts N Stuff and some others. I left early because I didn't want to miss the Light Rail back into town. I did not want to leave. This was my first time in WAMU Theater. The sound system is obnoxious, in a good way. They have the same kind of sound system they rock in the big casinos like the MGM Grand in Vegas. I could hear the music for blocks after I left the venue. Had some ringing in the ears the next morning, even though I put together some makeshift ear plugs during the concert. My heart was literally fluttering throughout the event as the bass was so strong. I've never felt bass like that, it shook my entire body. I was actually a little worried my heart might get out of rhythm because of the vibrations. I'm super sensitive individual, moreso than others, so other people might not understand.

I liked deadmau5 before going to see him. This was my first rave and honestly I fell in love! I've been to other performers and concerts but nothing adds up like deadmau5 his show was magical. I felt like I was in a trans and that no one was around me. He just doesn't play music he makes u feel the music and see the music with amazing lighting and tracks deadmau5 is truly the best person I've ever seen on a stage. I left that place feeling amazing with a giant smile on my face and seeing the world in a different light. I cried looking at the pictures and videos I got because it hit me that nothing will ever be better then that night. He is truly magical and if I could see him again I think I would die!

First off we waited in a line that wrapped around the building in the freezing cold, after waiting around an hour and a half we got in only to see the second DJ finish his set, then deadmau5 came on and played a pretty long set but we had to leave since there was no cold air and we were about to pass out. Deadmau5 is an artist and icon I always knew well about, however, he was definitely not one of my most listened to DJs before I saw him live at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas, Texas when he was doing the Meowington's Hax Tour. With much excitement, I can surely say that he has now become an absolute favorite, and I highly respect this musician in many ways. My friend and I decided to go because we had heard many great things about his live shows, and we really wanted a break from work. We drove all the way from Hot Springs, Arkansas to Dallas that day to see DJ Aero, Zedd, Excision, Sofi, and deadmau5 at the Palladium Ballroom. We were very excited when we arrived as we saw many people sporting the famous deadmau5 head logo almost everywhere imaginable. We both had no idea what to expect considering neither of us had ever been to The Palladium Ballroom before, so all in all, this was a rush as we finally entered the building. The Palladium Ballroom took me by surprise. The staff was very friendly, there were many stands set up for drinks, snacks, t-shirts, and of course, glow sticks. The prices were actually very reasonable. I decided to buy a few alcoholic drinks, and even then, I was impressed by the hospitality, price, and overall service. The main floor is very spacious, and the outside area is quite nice, and it has a lovely few of downtown Dallas. DJ Aero opened the show with an absolutely amazing set, and I was very impressed with his overall performance. As more and more people entered the building, Zedd began playing his set, and being a fan of Zedd, I really enjoyed his electric house beats, and he had the whole floor dancing. After Zedd finished his set, Excision hit the stage opening with Flux Pavilion and Doctor P DJ Fresh Louder remix. It set the atmosphere perfectly, he had everyone dancing, and in my opinion, it was a nice break from the progressive house and electric house music from the previous to performers as Excision mainly played dubstep. At this point, I was completely worn out, though, I knew I had to hold in enough energy to experience the main act, and damn, I was so glad I did. Watching deadmau5 perform is extremely hard to explain in terms of how moving it is. The entire building went absolutely crazy (in good way) as the light show associated with his act began to start. I had never seen anything like it before, and I could tell a great deal of time and work had been put in to this because it was amazing. He played all of his great hits, and it was actually kind of fun to see him DJ in the mau5 head. I had learned on Twitter earlier that deadmau5, Joel, was very sick, so while watching him DJ his ass off in front of a full building, I was in complete shock of how in the hell he was performing in that thing. I give him huge props for being a dedicated person to his fans and show. The show just continued to become even more intense as the lights were out of this world, and the bass was literally, and I kid you not, making the water in my cup bounce. Sofi showed up a few times to sing 'Sofi Needs a Ladder' and 'One Trick Pony'. She was very entertaining, and well, extremely hot in her dominatrix outfit. Once we thought the show was over, he continued to play even more and more. So in conclusion, this is by far the best show I have ever been to as of right now, and to be honest, it will take quite a bit to top it. With all the great musicians alongside deadmau5 and the atmosphere at The Palladium Ballroom, it was a night I know I will never forget.

Deadmau5 has been my favorite electronic artist of all time, and his show exceeded my expectations by miles! The energy from his performance was coursing through the veins of everyone at the venue! Personally, I think there were too many mediocre opening acts (excluding Feed Me, who was amazing), and Deadmau5's set should have been longer. The lights and special effects/graphics were flashy, showy, and overall amazing. Sofi also made a guest appearance, and granted that she was feeling under the weather, she also gave an absolutely stellar performance! The merchandise was also reasonably priced. There was a lot of cigarette smoke though, and extremely rude people tended to push toward the front of the crowd. Overall, I was very satisfied with the show!

FANTASTIC. AMAZING. RIDICULOUS. Deadmau5 was so much fun. The opening DJs (Tommy Lee, Feed Me, Aviici) were not loud enough. I don't know if it was a San Diego thing, a petco thing, or they just didn't have them hooked up to enough speakers, but they weren't loud enough to really get into. When Deadmau5 came on, though, they cranked it up and the crowd was so amped. I've never been in a crowd at a show of any genre with that much energy. I will be seeing him again. Five Stars.

Well lets just start off with Deadmau5 wearing a Hunter S. Thompson costume with his fly swatter was awesome. This was my fourth show seeing Deadmau5, second time at the Bill Graham and this was by far my favorite Deadmau5 show. What I was really hoping for going into the show was to get a good balance between his old and new songs and he did just that and I couldn't have been more happy with his performance. He takes you on a roller coaster ride for two hours of great electronic music accompanied by a stage that will have you mesmorized. With ridiculous hard smashing base hits to the very calm and soothing tracks such as "Strobe" and "Arguru," Deadmau5 and his crew know how to entertain and put on a show that I will forever remember.

It wasn't even JUST Deadmau5 that provided an unforgettable experience, it was his whole line up! Tommy Lee and DJ Aero, Feed Me, A-Trak, and Fat Boy Slim were all INCREDIBLE! And when Deadmau5 came on around 10 the crowd went crazy. One of the best experiences in my life. Doors started about half an hour after they were scheduled to, but that was the only "problem" I had. The auditorium is massive, the sound was on point, and overall the venue itself was really nice. The staff wasn't as rude as they are in most places, and the prices for food / drinks were fair. If you haven't seen Deadmau5 live, it's a MUST if you're a fan!! You won't regret anything!!

Great music, great show, great crowd, great venue! The opening acts were all fantastic: Tommy Lee & DJ Aero did a great job getting the crowd energized, then Feed Me turned it up to full power. Loved that one! I can't wait to see what Feed Me will be doing in the next few years. A-Trak wasn't my style so took a break by grabbing a drink and hanging out in one of the lounge spaces. Fatboy Slim was exactly what you'd expect from a seasoned DJ who's still making hits. But best of all, Deadmau5 put on an incredible show. It had everything from mesmerizing visuals, to brutal drops, to playful mau5 swinging a fly swatter or spooking about in a ghost sheet for Ghosts 'n' Stuff.

Had to rate this show in my top 3 all-time. A close second to Tiesto at the Cow Palace. What a great time. First I have to thank the crowd for putting out such a great vibe. I met a lot of cool people and enjoyed partying with everyone there. Second, the sound was awesome. Third, the Deadmau5 experience was everything I imagined and then some. I was simply blown away by the visuals and his hard hitting beats. Deadmau5 is a must see for anyone who appreciates the music and the scene. I have seen my share of great performances and stage setups during my years of concert-going. From the half-anonymous mystery of Tool to the great visuals of NIN's Downward Spiral Tour, to the raw energy of Primus and Moby, I've taken memories from every performance I've seen. Having said that, I really do think this is the best show I've ever seen. I have no problem saying that Deadmau5's stage show and visuals are the BEST I've ever seen. Every song created a different scene and color scheme with his backdrops, and he used the Cube to pull it all together to make himself seem like everything was happening around him and to him. The concert-goer that hasn't seen what Deadmau5 can do might just think he is a DJ with his boards around him, just pressing buttons and moving his head a bit. This really couldn't be farther from the truth. Even though he is at the very center of all the action, you manage to not pay attention to him at all when you see the experience he has created for every fan.

See you soon! NOTE: This guy puts on a show better than any DJ I've ever seen. You can feel the energy radiating in the building. It's inspirational to say the least. Overall, this show couldn't have been more epic...

Deadmau5's was excellent, he played a bunch of tracks we all knew and loved. His fan base is pretty cool, tons of people donned glowstick mau5 ears and danced their asses off. Opening acts Feed Me and Excursion were a little too dubsteppy for me. Don't get me wrong I like some dubstep, but for the most part it all kinda sounds the same. But I did enjoy their electro house bangers. :)

This is my second Electronic/Trance Club concert, first being DJ Tiesto in Syracuse NY. This Deadmau5 concert was from beginning to end simply amazing beyond words. 1st. performer was Mateo Murphy(never heard of him) music was up there with the best of them 2nd performer was Zedd(I've heard of him but never heard his music) and he was totally a performer that went along with his crowd pleasing music 3rd performer was Excision(knew the same from Skrillex music)...all I can say about this is the songs he played sounded so much alike, 50% of the crowd seems bored after hearing the same beats over and over again making the songs all sound the same after awhile. Then Deadmau5 was TOTALLY OFF THE HOOK! I have never been to one of his concerts but have seen several online(youtube) and being there live is the experience that doesn't even compare to watching him online. The "CUBE" scenes are jaw dropping and I just couldn't stop watching...I felt like he put me into a TRANCE with the music and totally amazing scenes on the cube and backdrop screen. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Deadmau5 if you have never been to a concert with him....Nothing else will even come close to his performance. I'm already ready for another performance with him.

The opening acts did their job and got us all dancing and our hands up in the air, but Deadmau5 left us all cheering as our only alternative to speechlessness and dj'd the best night the venue has ever seen! The lights and stage set-up were fantastically mind-boggling, and feeling the perfectly synchronized beats of his epic setlist pound our chests & ears as we danced was an unrivaled experience! Thank you so much Joel, for a concert and show Dallas will never forget! Deadmau5 needs to be seen live, so if he's coming to your city do your part and sell out his show!

The concert was great - amazing music, great swag (loved the glo stick mouse ears!!). Deadmau5 did not disappoint. The outdoor venue looked like it was going to be a problem, but the rain made the experience even better. Would definitely definitely go and see him again.

Deadmau5 knows how to put on a good show. the lights, sound and atmosphere was unforgettable. The opening DJs were pretty good too. Best part of all is that SOFI was there to sing "sofi needs a ladder" and "one trick pony". The only reason I can't give this event a 5 out of 5 is because there were no glowsticks or anything glowing allowed at the event which is completely ridiculous. I am pretty sure all things glowing are meant for acts such as Deadmau5. All of my glowsticks and glowgloves were confiscated by the event staff because "the band said so" (yeah right..). Despite this massive buzzkill, the show was great enough to make me forget about it.

Great party, I had a fun... A Deadmau5 show is not so much a concert as it is a full-on audio-visual experience. Set up on high in a giant carved-out cube, Joel Zimmerman, AKA Deadmau5, rocked the House of Blues last Wednesday not only with his mighty beats, but with a brilliant light show that would rival even the most magnificent fireworks display.

The show was overall AMAZING! Got there early so got to be at the very front and center. There was a lot of people so there was no personal space at all. The only thing I would say that bothered me a little was that the show was set to start at 7:30, and it did but there was 3 opening acts that lasted a hour each, so by the time that Deadmau5 came out everyone was a bit tired. But all that tiredness went away as soon as the curtain dropped and his mau5 ears were seen. His cube is amazing. It has to be seen in real life to appreciate it. The lights were also sick. He puts on a show like no other producer can. Seriously the best concert I have ever been to. Worth every second of standing and every penny! I would follow him around and go to every show if I could.

The show was perfectly put together. The tracks we're mixed and played at just the right times. The crowd did not stop for one second. The light show was the most incredible thing I've ever seen. He was at the top of a well-deserved thrown giving us one of the most memorable experiences ever. Could not believe how amazing the show was. I actually felt like I was taken on a journey with some of my favorite music as a soundtrack. Would most definitely recommend.

What wasn't epic about this? Hmm all the drunk people and those who decided to smoke or some other.....cough cough....substances. That was horrible. Zedd was incredible and really kept his head together when his equipment malfunctioned twice. His songs were amazing and I loved everything he played! Excision was also epic! Most may not care for the dubstep since deadmau5 isn't really dubstep, but I personally am a fan of Excision who's songs are pounding and incredible! The bass was brilliant and I couldn't complain! Then there was Tommy Lee and some other guy I don't know the name of...I was skeptical, but they were pretty good too. Sorry, but Zedd and Excision were better. deadmau5 was beyond epic. The cube was gigantic and involving! Sofi was incredible and everything went brilliantly. I thought deadmau5 was going to be epic, but I didn't know it was going to be that great! The only thing missing was Meowingtons, but he is too busy griefing deadmau5' house so I understand. But really deadmau5 played an incredible set that went on, thankfully, forever! My head was pounding, but in a great way! It was pure clean fun for me and though my legs wanted to fall off from standing for seven and a half hours it was all completely worth it!

The show was absolutely incredible, though Zedd's set was cut short due to "technical difficulties". Excision played an amazing set, with some material from his "X" mix and some from his new album as well as a couple Zomboy songs (and others by various artists). DJ Aero + Tommy Lee was actually really good--they played more original tracks near the beginning, then moved on to a good variety of songs then Sofi came onstage and performed a couple songs for them, and they finally closed with "Unison (Knife Party Remix)" by Porter Robinson! deadmau5 was, of course, incredible: the lights and volume and energy and proximity (2nd row) were just unbelievable. Later on, Sofi came out to sing "Sofi Needs a Ladder" and "One Trick Pony" and it was great!

I must say I had a great time, the set was awesome and Joel kept everyone moving. I like that he brought along the talent that helped him with his recent 4x4=12 Album (SOFI (Sofia Toufa) was great LIVE.) I brought a few skeptics with me who really didn't care for this type of music, but by the end of the night they were thanking me for the invite and said they would see him again. The sound was set up just right, nothing too punishing by the speakers, and very minimal distortion. I only have two things that bothered me, and none of them had anything to do with the artist. #1 The heat was a bit too much, and #2 there were people smoking at least two types of flavors in a non-smoking venue.

Joel Zimmerman, more commonly known as Deadmau5 (pronounced dead mouse for all saying dead-mow-5), has more to his concerts than just the music you hear at the clubs. The integrity and ingenuity he takes into crafting his art goes beyond the sound spectrum and delves into the visual arts which is amazing within itself. The set up of the entire concert is entirely unique surpasses any generic concert that you have seen before. In retrospect, there is no way to do the concert justice and I must simply say it is an experience you must have for yourself. Other than the amazing visuals which cannot be described unless experienced, the overall concert had all the elements to a perfect one: The audience participation was near cult-like in the front and middle of the floor but for the more conservative easy going concert goer, there was plenty of space in the back if you did not like the concept of being sandwiched 4 ways between sweaty flesh. Deadmau5 is a true entertainer with a witty sense of humor and despite the lack of verbal communication with his audience, he still manages to entertain in the most peculiar ways. The only complaint I would have was the openers took more than their fair share of time and I had exerted most of my energy listening to them (perhaps more so out of respect than enthusiasm) and the audience looked quite tired by the time Joel reached the stage. Everyone mustered the energy to keep on going though. All in all, the $50 tickets were well worth $100 or more depending on how much you value a quality concert experience despite your interest in music.

Defiantly the BEST concert I've been to!! The opening artists fit the crowd and pmped everyone for the main star, Deadmau5. He played the music we LOVE and new songs. The light show/visuals were also STUNNING and perfectly fit to the music, actually... no words can really describe the feeling of being in the crowd and seeing all this come to life. If you have not done it GO TO DEADMAU5 TOUR!! :D

the Evening started out with DJ Zedd, then Excision, then Tommy Lee (& DJ Aero) and finally Sofi w. Deadmau5. The entire show was insane. A ton of people were present. I was not let down in anyway. Zedd started off the show great, then Excision slowed it down w/ some dubstep. Tommy Lee (& DJ Aero) picked things up again w/ Sofi singing, and finally Deadmau5 came crashing in w. the crazy lightshows and "The Cube". The entire performance was overwhelming to say the least. I recommend Deadmau5 or any of his lineup to anyone who is an avid fan of electronic music! Hands down the greatest show ever

That was a very wonderful performance put on by ZEDD, Excision, DJ Aero and Tommy Lee. The beer line was long, but that's to be expected at any venue. I just wish they had more room to set up a bigger set! The music was great. All in all, it was pretty much an amazing night.

This show was sick! He really gets the crowd involved. One of the most elaborate productions I have ever seen. He's set up inside a giant rubik's cube on stage with incredible nonstop visual effects...and the sound system was top notch, it was like getting a constant massage from the bass speakers! Mixed in a few Daft Punk samples, and setlist was pretty good, only one track that wasn't on there I would have like to have heard, but overall was a great mix. Headed to Vegas next weekend to see him again, it'll be so worth it.....

The opening act Skrillex was amazing. He had some good dubstep that really got the party going. Unfortunately, that vibe was killed by the Dj Cassidy who spun every hip hop cliche from the last 30 years. The crowd got antsy trying to boo him off, but nothing. Busta was good, but not great. He would start a great song, then stop and say he didn't wanna do that one. He did play a few great ones, but by midnight we all wanted the Mouse. As for Deadmau5, what can be said that hasn't already. He's amazing! The lights, the beats, the cool mask, the awesome stage set up. I just wish I could have seen him the next he was @ Roseland.

Deadmau5 and Kaskade put on an incredible show--one of the best I've ever seen--what a blast! Roseland Ballroom--the queue to get in SUCKED--I have never waited for so long--3.5 hours!!!. I can't believe that there wasn't a VIP entrance for my very pricy VIP tickets. Very poor crowd control--slow, sloppy and inefficient--this venue should be penalized or banned by the city of New York. I will not be returning to Roseland.
