The musical was amazing. It's hard to say but I think it was better than the movie! It was very entertaining, I didn't stop smiling unless I was laughing. It was true to the movie with some twists for a musical.

I guess I expected more from the Walnut Street Theater, but the performers were consistently amateurish. I have seen many local theater groups that are much better. The show is entertaining, but I would still recommend to anyone who has not seen the movie - please watch the movie!! I realize a production with many children has challenges, but I am certain our area has many gifted child performers and I wonder why they did not come out or make it into this show. Music was very good and story is cute for families with kids.

The actors were incredibly talented. Timing was excellent, such a funny show that you know so well but this timeless story is reinvented in this hilarious and well done musical. You will leave singing the tunes in your head! Great music! I especially love "Ralphie to the Rescue"!

We enjoyed the play. The boy who played Ralphie was very talented and adorable. I thought the seats were extremely uncomfortable. Zero leg room and the chairs were horrible. I left with sore knees and back..... and that is not normal for me. I also didn't appreciate the theater sending the child actors to the doors to collect donations at the end of the play. Especially Considering the price of the tickets.

8 and 5 year old Grandsons loved the show; it was first stage show for the younger one. Chris Sutton was terrific as usual, and the narrator, one of our favorites, was very good. Some aspects of the show dated, especially for youngsters.; Overall, worth the price.

I took my fiancé because the Christmas story is his favorite movie. And we both loved the show. The cast was amazing and really showcased the parts of the movie that make the movie. We had a great time. We recommend anyone who likes/loves the movie to go and see the show. They will not be disappointed.

Wonderful show, high energy. Child performers are outstanding---they add an extra charm that isn't present in many adult only productions. Highly recommend.

We went to this show thinking that it would reflect the movie. They did take a majority of the "funny" or iconic scenes from the movie but it also seemed like they needed to "fill" time by adding in dancing acts. The lead who played the father was great and by far, the standout character. Reminded me a little like Ed Helms. The theater was very warm so it was really uncomfortable. The kids in the play did a fantastic job!

I bought tickets for myself and my adult son for a Christmas present because one of our dearest Christmas traditions is watching this movie. I did NOT expect the musical to be just like the movie, but there aren't enough words to express my disappointment. If Jean Shepherd were still alive, he would be so appalled. Let's start with the acting. The only one who was at all passable was the Old Man - he was actually quite enchanting. The woman who played Mom was terrible, so wooden and overblown. She could sing (amazing) but that was about all. Ralphie - well - he was absolutely terrible. Nasal singing, whiny voice, not at all compelling. The writing of this musical was even worse. Yes, they ported over some lines from the movie, but they totally missed the style that Jean Shepherd intended when he wrote this... And the ending...?? Oh my god. Beat us to death with the POINT. The charm of the movie original was that it didn't HAVE to beat you over the head with its POINT, because it made it subtly and sweetly. So disappointed. If I could demand my money back, I would.

We have been members of Walnut Street Theater for 10 years and this was one of the most disappointing shows we have seen in that time. We took our two high school exchange students and it was not enjoyable for them at all. The songs were poor, were too long and seemed geared more toward 6-10 year olds than any other age. I would suggest that Walnut Street keep this type of show for their children's series, except that some of the language made it inappropriate for this age as well. This one would have been better left undone.

A Christmas Story was an incredible production. We had a group of 8 ranging from age 70 down to age 11 - everyone loved it. We're big fans of the movie and were unsure what to expect - this was a fantastic show. A very talented bunch...a great way to celebrate the season with the family!

The show was fantastic. Very true to the movie. The narrator was great, the kids were adorable. Great singing. The only problem was the parking lot next to the theater, we were boxed in, they wouldn't let us out, we had our keys but couldn't get out. The attendant pushed my daughter when she was trying to get them to understand that we had our keys and had already paid. Very poor running of this parking lot. To have seen such a great show and then to have this awful experience in trying to get out of the lot damped the day. We will come back to the walnut street theater, we have seen several good shows there. But we will never park in that lot again.

The story was similar to the movie we all know and love, but the cast was able to capture the thoughts of the characters in a very creative and amusing way. There was just the appropriate amount of singing and dancing. The costumes were adorable. The actors portrayed their characters perfectly.

The show was amazing - much better than expected! The set was clever, the sound and orchestra were perfect and the actors were fabulous. We didn't realize just how many children were in the production and they all did a wonderful job. We especially loved the lead Ralphie (Liam K.). He was the perfect Ralphie, his voice was incredible and he had such a strong stage presence. It was the perfect way to spend the Saturday before Christmas with the family :) Thank you Walnut Street Theatre for such a quality production of A Christmas Story!

Excellent musical. They brought all of the funny parts from the movie, and although my kids do not watch it when it airs on TV, they were interested and loved the play. Would recommend to everyone, even if you haven't seen the TV version.

Show was great, actors were fabulous! Loved the flag scene, Santa scene, the Bumpus hounds. Not a fan of the change in the story (when The Old Man and the Mom fought and she left on Christmas Eve). Miss Shields was fantastic, Mrs. Parker was played by a great actor but did not fit the character being portrayed. Narrarator could not have done a better job! He was perfect!

Had an absolute blast going to the show and it inspired me to consider going to performances more often. The show wasn't too short or too long and somehow all the major themes from the movie were able to be fit in. The musical tunes were certainly catchy!!!! I'm sure the cast knows that they work hard, but their performance was great and I'm sure they work just as hard each and every show. Keep it up!
