Royal Blood

Royal Blood

ROYAL BLOOD IN CONCERT:In just a few short years, British garage outfit Royal Blood has gone from a little-known upstart to a sought-after touring partner for acts like Pixies and The Arctic Monkeys. The key to their success? One of the most entertaining, high-octane live shows in rock music. Royal Blood is a duo, but the massive wall of sound they create in concert is the stuff of arena glory, all blaring guitars and crashing cymbals. Add to that the bluesy wail of lead vocalist Mike Kerr and catchy tracks like "Little Monster" and you've got yourself one heck of a live show.

Royal blood was a total rock show. They jammed and we re fun. Awesome awesome. The venue in Lauderdale was nice and small, a little dingy, hard to move around but that s how it goes.

Royal Blood is amazing live and at Janus Live it was an intimate feel but a huge experience. The venue is easy to get in and out of and the sound quality was good. Definitely worth checking out a band you like here.

I caught Royal Blood in Nashville when they opened for Bush. Drove in from Nashville to see the show. Really happy to see them headlining. Amazing how much rock these two young men can bring. The crowd really showed their appreciation. Can't wait until they release another CD and are back in the states. If they play in the Southeast. I'm there!!!

There is not a rock band around today that can rock harder than these two. Two guys on the stage, incredible sound, perfection in performance. Their debut CD is incredible and the live show exceeded my expectations. I can't believe I was lucky enough to see them at the 1,000 seat venue Center Stage less than a week before they open at Wembley for Foo Fighters! I'll never forget it.

The venue was intimate and the bands were awesome! Pulse who looked really young and starting out was fantastic. I look to see great things from them but of course the highlight of the evening was Royal Blood. They were everything I expected and more. Great band to go see because they sound exactly like their record and that is only because they made the effort when recording to do no dubbing or looping. It is strictly just them playing and that's the way it should always be.

Royal Blood put on a heck of a show! Mike and Ben are consummate musicians. Mike's bass technique paired with his control of effects is matched by his lyricism and vocal ability. Ben's drumming was powerful and clock-like. The two of them obviously enjoy their time playing their music and it compelled the audience to react in kind. The audience was receptive and engaged and active. My concert crew are looking forward to the next time we can see Royal Blood!

Royal Blood was one of the best performances I've seen to date, beating out Staind closing X-Fest 2011. Great music and performance, and a good place to listen to it. My only complaint is how long it took- their opener wasn't onstage until an hour and a half after doors opened, and Royal Blood went on an hour later. Overall good time though, definitely worth it.

We saw them last year in a very small venue. They seemed to really enjoy the amount of people who came out to support them and we noticed that they grew as frontman and owned their time on the stage. The best part - they rocked even harder and were truly awesome! Right now they are at the perfect point where you can still see them up close but in a bigger venue and they are still loving it and not taking anything for granted. Can't wait for them to come back to Columbus again next time around!

dont know what all the hype is about. Went to see royal blood last night in glasgow and they were ok in a really bland sort of way. All the songs sounded very similar and their stage presence was virtually Non-existent. They weren't terrible, just really not very exciting. There are lots of much better live bands out there and I can't help but think that those who rate them haven't seen many decent live acts before.

I was lucky enough to see Royal Blood @ Mercury Lounge in NYC, a sold out show of, what, 250 people! It was so old school, tiny venue, $10, huge sound and a 9 song set list. This band is amazing and is not to be missed. Their live performance was tight and enthusiastic and the crown loved it. Catch 'em in a small venue if you can....cuz you cannot get that intimate, intense, in-your-face, hard rock intensity in a big hall/arena. Killer....can I give 10 stars?

Saw Royal Blood for the first time at Center Stage in Atlanta this past weekend and they rocked it!!! They are simply badass high energy rock and roll! I wish they would have played longer than they did (only an hour), but I know their repertoire is limited at this early point. The Mini Mansions opened and they were absolutely dreadful. Perfect example of trying too hard. Just Google some pics of the dude in the Question Mark suit and I think that will say enough. Other than that, I highly recommend seeing Royal Blood live and Center Stage is a sick venue as well! It is a small, dark, semi-circle, old school venue with easy access to beers and bathrooms. Absolutely no issues at all with the venue. Go see Royal Blood!

We attended the Royal Blood show at Jannus Live and were happy with every aspect of it. Jannus Live is a great place to see a show - there's plenty of parking within a few blocks (we paid $5 for a block away), there are a number of places you can stand if you don't like people right in front or behind you (or you can push right up in the crowd if you like) and a bathroom attendant keeps the ladies' room clean and pleasant (make sure to tip her!). The Royal Blood is an incredible band - they have a huge sound for just two players, they are skilled musicians, and their music is well-crafted and fun to listen to. They definitely left it all on the stage with enthusiasm and an appreciation for their fans. I hope they'll come somewhere close on another tour - we'll definitely go see them again!

It was worth every penny. I learned about Royal Blood shortly after they finished touring for their first album. I listened to that album on repeat for a long time. After some patient waiting, they released their second album and it was just as good as the first. I honestly never thought they would come to Charlotte and was extremely excited for the show. They did not disappoint. The first song or two was a little treble-heavy with the vocals kind of buried. I felt a little let down, hoping they were not going to sound like that the whole show. Any issues were corrected within a couple songs and they sounded great. The rest of the show melted my face off. I was also astonished to hear the drummer had been throwing up all day and was quite sick. That makes me appreciate them even more for not cancelling.

The sound was incredible. I had a lot of fun and the energy the guys gave off was unlike anything I ve ever seen. Only thing that made me tick was the actual people at the venue. Almost no common courtesy. Me and my buddies were all the way in the back to look at the royal blood perform because some people would get really close in your personal space and stand right in front of you. Like this one guys Butt touched my front. And I did not enjoy it. Overall, if you chill at the back there s a lot better view and breathing room.

Made the drive from Akron, OH (about two hours) to catch Royal Blood on tour. I had never been to a Stage AE before, but had been to its sister stage, Express Live (The LC Pavillion), in Columbus, so I sort of knew what to expect. Parking was a bit weird. There are plenty of lots near the venue (the football stadium is right there) but it was unclear where I could park and where I couldn t. No one directing, and no sort of event parking signs that I could see, aside for one that said the lot was full (rats). A series of one-way streets spun me around the block a few times before I gave up on lot parking and used the garage, about a block away, which ended up being 1/3 the price (nice!). The line to get in was long (I didn t there as early as I would have liked) but moved quickly. Doors opened exactly on time and I was in the venue within three minutes. A note: The bag policy is strict, but well explained on the venue site. Several people were sent back to their cars, but for fairly obvious violations. Read the rules, folks... Once inside I walked right to the floor and ended up about four people back from the rail. For those of you who have been, Stage AE is IDENTICAL to the Express Live/LC in Columbus, which is great: there isn t a bad place to stand in the whole venue, but I opted for the experience of being up-close-and-personal to the bands. The show began on-time (super perks here) with Turbowolf. I take partial blame for my main complaint with the show, as I decided to stand close, but it was LOUD. I have been to, and, as a musician, played several loud concerts, but even with earplugs in (protect your ears, folks) I was uncomfortable. I was fortunately standing close enough that I was actually out of the main blast-zone of the main speakers, but the bass out of the subs was uncomfortable at best. It was, in fact, so loud where I was standing that the bass guitar and kick drum drowned out the stack of Orange Guitar amps (not famous for being quiet) pointed towards my side of the stage. The vocals, likewise, were hard to hear as well. Royal Blood certainly came through clearer; being only a two-piece there was less input to muddle up the sound. Still loud, but a more understandable yes this is a rock and roll show loud. This is to say nothing of the bands themselves. I had never even heard of Turbowolf and they left me impressed, at the very least. Royal Blood managed to put on one of the best shows I have ever attended, even with Kerr on a broken foot. I figured this was the last tour they would be playing in venues, before they re giant-super-mega-stars and playing in the stadium next door, so I m glad I caught them this time. Definitely glad I made the trip over, but was disappointed in the sound. All other aspects were great, and I have few complaints. Would absolutely make the trip again for another show, but may opt to hang near the back (again, there isn t a bad place to stand in the whole venue), just so I can hear the next day. Of course the indoor/outdoor aspect of the venue is revolutionary and lengendary, and I would love to catch a show on the hill.

I've seen them open twice before, but their headlining performance was amazing, especially with their lights and setup. Mike Kerr broke his foot a few days prior, but he was still going around the stage and having a great time. Ben Thatcher was entertaining as always too, and the addition of backing singers made many of the songs even better. I would absolutely see them again, especially at an indoors headlining show.

With decent radio play, Royal Blood peaked my interest to check them out. I was curious how a duo could pull off rock and wasn't quite sure they did. Sonically, you close your eyes and can tell something is missing even though it doesn't seem far off. He does cover a wide range with his bass but I thought it comes up short for rock. The lights were a nice touch, shadowing, background, etc. It took me a minute but you realize, you do watch bands and when you figure that out, you realize another shortcoming. The drummer does his thing but when the singer primarily stands there and no one else to watch, you realize they have an uphill battle to remain interesting as a duo. Decent songs, reasonable radio play, not all that much live.

Such a sick show. Mike Kerr and Ben thatcher are unbelieveable!!! This band is huge in the U.K. And they are going to be huge in the US! I feel like I swindled the band for only paying 25$. They should have charged more!!!

Go see this band. I would go see them again. Very impressed. These guys look like they have been together for years and I will reiterate what others say, they might even sound better live and than on the CD.

Cannot imagine a better show. After two years on the road the know how to entertain. Audience were won over from first note. Figure it out started everyone dancing and head banging. No let up in energy. Best live band around.

Was totally blown away by this show! I go to a lot of concerts and this was by far on of my favorites! They had so much energy and really got the crowd involved. The sound at House of Blues Dallas was amazing!

To see a band that puts out such a powerful sound with just a bass and drums is incredible. With such a small venue it was easy to get about 20 feet from the stage and the energy between the band and crowd was outstanding. With only one album of material to work with, the show was pretty short (about an hour), but they gave it their all. Though they opened with their best song, "Figure It Out," they kept the energy revved up the entire time. The crowd was total into it, jumping and singing with abandon. I will see them the next time they are in town, though I'm sure it will be in a much larger venue.

These guys are amazing to watch and the sound that only 2 guys can produce is amazing. This is a show you feel as much as you hear it. The bass and drums resonate right through you. Seeing them in a small place like Upstate Concert Hall was great. Aside from the miserably slow, bitchy bartenders and weak drinks they poured it was an awesome experience.

What an incredible show. To see Royal Blood in Clifton Park, & to get so close, was amazing. They just opened for the Foo Fighters & we got to see them in an intimate venue as the headliner. Great show. Entertaining. Great music & sound quality.

Royal Blood did not play as long as expected and the opening band was great! Would have loved to see Royal Blood have played longer!!

It was a short set that went by fast, but every song was amazing. I love hearing bands live that sound exactly as they do on CD. I would totally recommend to anyone to see this band live. They already have a big following, but I think they're going to be BIG. Such a great show.
