Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance....there was no acting, no much dance, and far too many requests for the audience to stand up and participate! If Simon, Paula snd Randy were judging the talent they'd say it was flat, pitchy at times & the wrong Not Motown song choice.

So much wrong with this...the advertised "amazing costume changes" and "great choreography" were not in evidence. Half the males changed outfits one time & I think there was only one change for the three females, although there could have been two. (The costumes really did not make an impression.) Choreography was barely present & much of it was very loose. The advertised "outstanding live band", while fairly tight, was subdued and would have been more at home as a pit orchestra for "Bye Bye Birdie." Very unfunky without even a passing nod to the Funk Bros, a very stripped down 5 piece. Sax player was quite good, but the rhythm section was just going through the motions. I believe that this troop may hire regional musicians- none of the singers seemed to know any of the backing band by name, referring to them only by their instruments. I guess the backing band was my biggest objection- it just did absolutely nothing that resembled those wonderful Motown backing tracks. What else...the audience interaction was cornball and canned. They did not even stay true to their advertised theme- there was a good number of non-Detroit artists covered in the second set. Etta James, Wilson Picket, and Prince come immediately to mind, all wonderful artists but without any Motown tie in. Two stars based on fair vocal pipes, a wailing sax man, and the mildly positive audience reaction. Very ho-hum, especially considering the exciting material that they tried to cover.

This concert was not good. We invited a relative and spouse (who live in the DC area) to go with us and recommended the event to friends who also attended. We apologized to both. The performance was lack lustre, the women who sang were better than the men but the overall concert was very disappointing.

I was very disappointed with the show. I felt the singing wasn't the greatest and there was no energy at all. It was a performance you would see at a park for free. I've seen a lot of Motown shows and this was the worse. The band was good but not the performers.

Not a first class performance. One singer was chewing gum until almost intermission. The picture of the group on the advertisement was not the same as the performers. Having the song list spread on the floor, really. I have seen other Motown groups here that were much better.
