As close to the real deal as you can get, maybe better - spot on. Never heard of them before and took the spontaneous opportunity to have a fun night out with my husband. Vocalists/Musicians clearly connect with one another having a totally good time. Great venue with sounds of Steely D nailed down.

First off let me tell u that I am a die hard Prince fan. I've been to his concerts all over and even his week long "Cellies" (week long concerts at Paisley Park). I have to admit at first I was a bit skeptical about going to see a "cover" band, especially attempting to do an artist so near and dear to me. And not to mention the emotions that are caught up with the recent tragic events. The billing boldly claimed that they were THE WORLD'S QUINTESSENTIAL PRINCE TRIBUTE. Yeah Right. I had other options that day which included a music festival w backstage passes to one of my old time get down R&B groups. I reluctantly passed on that and gambled on OVATION. MAN, DID I WIN BIG TIME!!! They were ABSOLUTLY AMAZING! I mean they TOTALLY hit it outta the park! Are they a perfect clone of Prince & the Revolution? No, no one is or will ever be. But I can honestly say that they are so close and so entertaining in their own right that no one whom calls themselves a Prince fan or one that just likes the Minneapolis sound will be disappointed. This is the one band that Prince, himself, approved of. That in its self is reason to go check them out. One thing not to be overlooked and which I found to be ASTOUNDING is the energy & spirit that they generated inside of that music hall. They literally brought an EXPERIENCE to share with the people. A lot of bands can play the music but few can generate that kind of an atmosphere. Anyone who knows Prince and the connection he had w his fans knows this feeling, this oneness I speak of. OVATION truly continues this and exudes this spirit. I know Prince was smiling that night. A special note has 2b given 2 Chase's lil sis who may b small in size but belts out some big vocals that gives u goose bumps! I also had noticed a dapper dressed guy walking around b4 the show. He was even on the floor dancing & having a good time when the band started to play. To my amazement the tone changed & this brother took the stage & he owned it! The band started laying down a oh so funky version of THE TIMES "THE BIRD" & the cat went into entertainment mode! I mean he had everybody in the house rockin & squawkin, it was live & so much fun! And I must add a bonus and total surprise. Get this, his name is Jerome! I had just saw Morris Day & the Time the previous weekend. All I can say is Morris, watch out!!! Now I know that I'm a Prince fan and a bit partial but I challenge anyone to go see one of their shows and not be moved in some form or fashion. And to those of us who truly loved Prince, this is, especially during these times, a somewhat emotional and dare I say "healing" event. CHASE & OVATION, FAMILY, Know this, What u are doing is so much more than just playing music right now. U are helping so many of us heal. WE ARE FAMILY NOW. I THANK U. IT WAS PURE SPIRIT.

The talent and music for Himself and Nora combined to craft a show worthy of the trip downtown. All of the performers had strong voices and commanding presence on the stage. The audience challenge is trying to determine at what point in the lives of "Himself" and "Nora" the next scene captures. Many of the usual visual clues -- period costumes, stage props of a certain era -- are all absent. Once you figure out that it could be significant "time gaps" between scenes, you can follow the storyline.

What a great show! Michael Troy started his show with Funeral for a Friend/Love lies bleeding, then went right into the Billy Joel song "Half a Mile Away." It's uncanny that he actually SOUNDS/SINGS and PLAYS PIANO like BOTH guys! I have heard him solo and duo, but the energy with his 7 piece band is amazing. Near the end of the first set Michael did Elton's "Amoreena" and "Burn down the Mission" with just his drummer (Craig Tramack of Spike the Punch & Men in Black) and bass player (Tim Archibald of RTZ, Ernie and the Automatics and Peter Wolf) to bring us back to the debut of Elton John in the US when he was with Nigel Olsen and Dee Murray at the Troubadour Club in 1970. During "Burn down the Mission" he flipped the piano seat over and played on his knees with his hands up over his head...I guess he can really play the Piano blindfolded! After the break he opened with The Bitch is Back, talk about upping the energy! He also did some great Billy Joel tunes - with actual horn players. He played for almost 3 hours with a 20 minute break partway through. He even came out to greet audience members after the show. Michael is also a Singer/Songwriter in his own right and he has a CD out called "Unveiled." He performed 2 songs from this work...a song about his hometown of Waltham, MA called "Rose Hill Way" and a love song called "The Simple Things" both are worthy of a purchase..apparently available on CD Baby and itunes. He ended the performance with "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and was rallied back for an encore of "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" His lead guitar player is Nate Comp (of the Josh Logan Band), Synthesizer was played by Mark Retallack (of the band Jumpstreet) and his backup vocalist is Karen Carr (Berklee College of Music professor). Seriously, if you closed your eyes - you'd think you were listening to Billy Joel or Elton John...what a fabulous night of entertainment!
