This trip to Chicago was my daughter's Christmas present. She has been a Lion King fanatic since she was a toddler. It was our first Broadway show and it was everything we could have hoped. The production was awesome...from the talented actors to the incredible makeup and costumes! I was impressed at how closely it followed the animated movie. The theatre itself is beautiful and makes one think of days gone by. We sat in the lower balcony and were very happy with the view. I would definitely recommend this show to everyone . We left the theatre with big smiles on our faces!

We loved that there was never an interruption in production for a set change! The sets flowed from one to the next without distraction or interruption! our only complaint was the volume, everyone in our group was complaining it was a strain to hear at times. Mufasa didn't sound like the King of the jungle, thanks to sound control! We would have also liked to have seen more dramatic makeup on the characters. Until we saw them in the lobby after the show, we couldn't tell they had face makeup on. They needed to look more like animals/lions in the face.

Hands down, the best show I've seen. Surprised my wife for our anniversary. Added the Suite Service for the extra special perks. Singing, costumes & visualization were phenomenal.

Wonderful staging, props, story with some classic songs. Matinee show was one-third filled with small children who remained surprisingly quiet, totally rapt by the live musical version of the sights and sounds made so familiar by Disney.

It was a birthday gift from my husband and we had a front row seat. Therefore I was able to see details of there costumes and the sound of the music was inspiring. I was also able to speak to one of the member of the orchestra about his instruments and his sound effects. We had a great time.

This was my 5th time seeing the Lion King. The first 2 were on Broadway and the others were tours. Young Simba's voice was annoying/forced and his vocals were not strong at all. Young Nala didn't quite have the strong vocals either. The older Nala had a BEAUTIFUL voice but her dancing wasn't very graceful, and at one point when Simba went to lift her, it looked like it was tough for him to do it. I suppose if this is the first time you've seen the Lion King you will love it, but for me to compare to previous troupes, no thanks. The costumes, orchestra, venue were beautiful, but not a strong cast in my opinion.

Loved the show. Went to the opening day matinee and it did not disappoint. Love the references to Chicago, like the "Billy Goat Tavern"!! Lots of laughs and great set!! LOVED the aisle seat to be able to see the animals closeup as they danced the aisles!! Costumes are amazing!! Love the music so much that a few songs were in my wedding back in 1996, like "Circle of Life" and "Can you Feel the Love Tonight"!

This performance was awesome! The costumes were amazing, the music was perfectly played and at the right volume to never drown out the voices, the actots were excellent and never missed a beat and the singing was lively and animated throughout the entire show! I sat in the orchestra seats about 5 rows back so the view was perfect from there; however, I would recommend sitting up in the balcony area so that you can see the costumes for their true 'animal' aspects. Everyone had a mask affixed to their heads, not in front of their faces; therefore, from a little higher, the characters face would have been seen better. Excellent show! I plan to go again if I have a chance!!

I have to admit to being a little disappointed in the Lion King. While there were moments that were spectacular, there were also some very slow moving scenes, which left me less than enchanted with this show. We had an understudy for Scar, on opening night in Chicago! But he was very good, no complaints there. I think my expectations were just too high, but my entire group left feeling that this show, while very good, was not "the #1 musical in the world".

I was looking forward to this, since its one of the biggest Broadway Musicals from Disney. The set design and use was cool. The protrayal of all the animal was impressive and for that I recommend this. They skipped one of my favoriate Broadway Lion King song, "Morning Report" and the line were rushed. Much of the acting in the main cast was forced, which was annoying. Mufasa and Scar were very very well done and adult Simba was okay, but I think all other main actors were rushing themselves and not letting silence and space speak for itself.

The costumes were great, sets great, singing was ok, voices were not strong, especially Scar The theatre needs more staff at concessions at intermission. I felt sorry for the one gal and the huge line. Most people didn't get their food because time ran out.

Amazing performance, very well done by all involved. There was enough subtle humor (modern references) that made it fun to watch, but kept to the story line otherwise. The characters that walked down the isles was a nice touch and the scene before intermission was very well chosen!

I preferred the Lion King I saw on Broadway a few years ago more. They added some songs that were not recognizable and a weird, luckily short few lines about Scar having a thing for Nala. Totally unnecessary and kind of creepy. The costumes and the way the animals move still impressed me though.

We sat in the fourth row, 4 seats to the left off the left aisle and got a real up close and personal look at the performance. Everyone knows the Lion King Story and has probably seen the movie a few times, so there is the obvious desire to compare the two. There is no comparison -- both are true to the story and provide a unique experience. The difference is that the stage version immerses you physically in the story. Characters move down both aisles several times during the performance and birds fly over your head even if you are eight seats off the aisles. We were amazed at how the actors who were also puppeteers with speaking parts merged their make-up, body, and voice to complement the actions of the puppets they were manipulating. Several of the puppets (elephants) involve multiple people yet move in a smoothly choreographed motions mimicking the actual movement of the real animals. We were awed by the miniature herd of antelope and the head and catlike body movements of the cheetah -- both operated by a single person. Not only do the giraffes appear life-sized, but the fact that a single person walking on stilt legs could mimic the walk and head movements of a real animal. Think of the performance as Disney meets Cirque-du-Solei -- there is a strenuous physical athleticness to the performance of many of the characters and they have a script and a music requirement. Obviously, we were enthralled by the visual performance, but the quality of acting/characterization was true to the movie with the personalities we all know coming to life on the stage. The kids in the audience (all ages) were totally into the performance. We were lucky enough to sit behind a family with two middle school kids who had played in their school's performance of the Lion King -- it made for some very heartwarming conversations during intermission. My wife and our friend had attended a performance of Lion King some 15 years ago and were still blown away by the performance. This truly is a "Do Not Miss" for anyone who loves music, theater, or Disney. Our advice is to get the best ticket you can afford and if you are on the main floor, sit close to the stage and/or close to an aisle.

The Lion King show was awesome. We had aisle seats so when t he characters came down the aisle throughout the play it was an excellent view. Seats were Orch C, Row S 117 and 118. Perfect view, not too up close and not far away at all. Show began at 2:00, play started about 2:07. They started letting people in the building at 1:00 and into the theatre about 1:45ish. Crowd was nice, polite. Attendants were a little uptight and bossy but that's expected. Overall good experience.

Costumes, puppets, set, singing, acting = Amazing. Totally worth it. I was highly distracted by the bongo player stage right who never seemed to be playing with the pit; rather it was just random noise over the top of otherwise lovely music. This made me a little impatient with the non-movie additions to the story that sometimes seemed to be slow and long simply to add time to the show. The child actors were unbelievably good.

The story was lacking, but I never have been a huge fan of Lion King. There were some added moments for the theater, but the story just wasn't well put together. The only thing that recommends this musical is the extraordinarily creative use of space (set design) and costuming. The story and music are essentially the Disney animated movie brought to the live stage. It's okay for young children though those surrounding my seat also had a hard time sitting still through the two hour performance.

This is the first time that I go to the theater, it's the highest grossing show, so I had high expectations. The music was good, but not great; I guess it was too low becuase I want it to feel it but i couldn't, even though I was in the orchesta section. Costumes are great and the "animal-impressions" are really good. The story, well you all may know it, they just included two or three different jokes. I can't recommend it becuase I was expecting to have goosebumps. However, I am not saying it's a bad show.

We brought our 3 Grandchildren, 11,10 and 7 all 3 were totally engaged the whole time. We loved how the story was told and the costumes. Worth the ticket prices.

I went to see this with a couple of my friends and I have to say, I LOVED It. The ending seemed a little rush to me, especially the fight between Simba and Scar. Scar was a little too quite and lacked some more "oomph" in his character but other than that the voices were astounding the atmosphere was amazing and I would easily go again!

We have seen several musicals now including CATS, WICKED, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Disney's Beauty & the Beast and more. The Lion King by far surpassed them all! And we LOVED all of the musicals we have seen! The Lion King is something you must experience to understand! The costumes, bizarre as they are, are truly stunning and make the show! The movements and dancing are unbelievable! A great show for ages 5 and up!

This is a long play (2 and a 1/2 hours with intermission) but it flew by. The young actors were great, and the singing and acting was wonderful.
