We loved it. We laughed so much and really enjoyed the performances. Great talent. Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Pinocchio were our favorites. The Wolf was likeable also. The actress playing Fiona (Ayse Yilmaz, I believe) was impressive with her acting and singing ability and very engaging onstage. And I thought Shrek was very true to character including the accent. Everyone really delivered. I noticed the script and numbers followed the Broadway version and I thought it was very well done. 10 stars in our book!

The production, cast & performance was excellent. I am a moderate theatre goer, and only "Jersey Boys" on Broadway, surpassed. However, the 'king's' performance was second to none. Excellent facility, BTW!

The stage, the costumes, the songs, the dancing the entire show was great. I never stopped smiling the entire time. The cast was beyond amazing!!! Princess Fiona is beautiful, silly, sensitive, loving, funny, sarcastic green, stinky but most of all mesmerizing. It is impossible to take your eyes off of her when she is on stage. I would see it many many more times with this wonderful and talented cast!!!!

Five us us went, 3 adults and 2 children. (Two Grandmothers, Daughter and 2 grandchildren) All of us loved it, it was by far one of the best we've seen. My grandchildren kept thanking me all night and all the way home. For each of my grand daughters birthday every year for the last 3 years ( they are 8 & 10) the other grandmother and I take them to see a play in Chicago. This was their favorite by far!

Our family went to see Shrek and loved every minute of it. The costumes & set were wonderful, but what really stands out are the talented performers. They present this tongue-in-cheek stage performance of the Shrek cartoon with adrenaline and passion. From the opening curtain to the closing performance of "I'm a Believer" we were completely riveted and entertained! Kudos to the cast on stellar vocal performances!

Sherk the Musical was very amusing. Even though we haven't seen the original Shrek movie for a while it seems as though it follows the movie. All characters did a great job. The costumes and sets were very creative and colorful. This show is good for all ages! There is some adult humor and a few swear words...but not anymore than there was in the movie. Loved the reference to Lion King!

My 20 yo son and I saw Shrek. I regret not bringing my 16yo. I think this musical would be great for most ages. Singing was amazing. Not any "memorable" songs, but all the songs intertwined with the storyline seamlessly and they were fun songs. Were else can you see tap dancing mice? Many people walked out before the final song to beat the rush - stand up and clap along to fhe final number. It was the best number of the night.

Shrek the Musical was terrific!! What a joy for all ages, a great show for the entire family!! My 6-year-old was dying to go, and despite the price & awful traffic, we went to the matinee and really enjoyed all the songs, setpieces, costumes. The comedy was wonderful, I laughed the whole way through!! There are many funny lines, sharp comic timing, and a healthy irreverence...... the singing is good, very colorful, and Shrek himself was certainly the star!!! Big raves for the Fiona actress as well.....but I am so glad my little boy and I shared the time together downtown in the big city!!! Shrek himself delivered, and the entire production is a major winner--- what a prize!!! If you have the time and money, go---- you'll be surprised & very entertained!!!!!

This is not just a kid's show. Shrek was an all around excellent show. The cast was first rate. It was hillarious, it reminded me of the Producers...not the story but the type of musical. Every scene and song was great. There was something for everyone. I usually hate the peer pressure of the standing ovation but I was on my feet of my own free will.

The experience had two great happenings. The first was born out of the panic of lost tickets. I called ticketmaster to plead my case and talked to Tina who was an angel of mercy. She took care of me and assured me that my wife and I could still take our two grandsons to the show THANKS TINA The show was not only presented well by the cast members but displayed some very excellent technical stagecraft as well. We see 20 or so plays per year ,and I come from a stage background so may I compliment you and the entire production company on the best show we have seen this Year

Shrek the Musical was a delightful play. The singing and songs were great. Although there were a number of younger children in the audience, they were very well behaved. They had many moments of comedy and all the actors were just great! The characters were wonderful creations from the gingerbread man to the fire-breathing dragon....is was a very enjoyable experience.

What a surprise! Well not really! I knew it would be good but I was knocked over by how GREAT it was. All the talented actors with such brilliant voices belting out fabulous songs and music. The "somewhat suttle" references to other musicals had me bent over with laughter and playing "Where's Waldo" throughout the performance. Donkey and Lord Farquaad............soooooooo funny, sooooooo well acted!!! I just wanted Donkey to hit me with.... "and in the mornin' I'm makin' waffles!!!!" It's well written and extremely well performed yet the theater was darn near empty...hey theater-goers, ya don't know what you're missing. But take small children to a matinee. I left as a true "Believer"...and would definitely go back again.

This experience was as great as the first Shrek movie! I really enjoyed the adult-themed laced humor in such a child's animated story! And the singing was great as well. I really loved "Dragon's" improvised version of Jennifer Holliday/Hudson's ". . .And I'm Telling You You're Not Going" with "You're Staying". I wish that had been part of the movie. Oh, I forgot the film wasn't a musical. There was nothing inappropriate about the musical and everything was on point!

I am so glad that I purchased these tickets last year for my family, it was worth the wait! We were expecting to fall in love with the original characters all over again, and we were not dissapointed!! The ensemble cast of characters was so much fun and we all fell in love with Pinochio and Lord Marquart...very funny!!! We liked Shrek, however, the actor who portrayed him had a bit of a hard time keeping his "Ogre-Scottish" accent consistent throughout the show, but overall he did a good job. The show also featured a few children who played small roles, and with one exception, they did a good job. Unfortunately the young lady who played "young Fiona" either had an "off" performance or she really should not have been cast, as her voice was just not able to sing on key. The young lady who played "young Shrek" didn't have a speaking part, but was very cute and she was available afterwards outside of the stage doors to take pics and talk with our children...very cool! It was a little dissapointing that some of the sets were very "cheesy" and unimaginitive (i.e Lord Marquart's outer castle), when so many of the backdrops were stunning (i.e. the dragon's lair). The actress, Carrie, that sang the voice of the dragon, hands-down, had the best voice I have heard in the Chicago musical circuit in a long time...she was AMAZING! The puppetry that went into the dragon scenes were just fantastic! On the flipside, I was expecting to see Shrek "break through" the walls of the house that you see in the previews for the show, and that scene never happned on-satge, so I assumed that it was a scene from the Broadway show and not the off-Broadway version...too bad! Overall, my family loved it, and the suprise was that we actually liked the supporting characters almost more than the lead characters, the "freaks" as they are called had some of the best songs, dance routines, and voices! Fiona (Haven) was "okay" and Donkey had his moments of brilliance, but overall I found myself rooting for Lord Marquart and enjoying his scenes with the other "freaks" almost more than I did the leads...so that is good, because that means that the supporting roles really made the show!! All ages 5 and up can see this show, and there are a few great little one-liners that were funny to the adults that the kids wouldn't get and were not offensive but funny!! I would go see this again, and hopefully get to see the understudies for Shrek and Fiona instead, to see if the show was stronger in those roles. As a side note, neither the actor that played Shrek or the actress that played Fiona stopped to sign any autographs, even when we asked! This did not interfere with our enjoyment of the show, but it was dissapointing when so many people waited for them and they simply walked past us as though we weren't there :(

I was so disappointed in this show at the St George Theater in Staten Island. The set was the same the whole show, one single backdrop, it didn't change at all. The songs were not that good and the voices were not strong at all (my favorite though was Pinocchio). None of the songs from the original Shrek were used. The kids had no idea what was going on. There was nothing to hold their attention. It reminded me of a high school play. Also, the audience was so loud. Kids running back and forth. The theater did nothing to try to control them. We could hardly hear and we had good seats. The microphones had issues and were too low and sometimes didn't even work. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

The Mable House venue was very nice. I do recommend that you buy your ticket ahead of time. The box office line the night of the event was quite long. I loved that they provided hot cocoa and popcorn for purchase at the performance. Just the ticket for a chilly night. Now to the show: The cast was amazingly talented. Shrek and Lord Farquaad were hilarious. The actress playing Donkey - just great comedic timing and very entertaining. The other characters were really good as well - I think our favorite of the supporting cast was the gingerbread man. I hope this becomes a regular event!!! Also check for your event - if they allow picnicking, this is the way to go. Plenty of room for a picnic - and cupholders, too.

Shrek the Musical premiered on Broadway in December of 2008. The story begins with the story of Shrek and Fiona as children and how they got where they are today with both of their parents abandoning them. Then Shrek comes in and begins his story of his life today. Throughout the story it tells of Shrek s encounter with the fairytale creatures that were thrown out of Duloc and end up in Shrek s swamp. In order for him to have them leave he has to meet Lord Farquad s standards and rescue the princes, Fiona, for Lord Farquad. As Shrek goes to rescue Fiona he meets up with Donkey along the way and they begin their journey together. Along their journey they have to fight a dragon that protects the castle Fiona is in. This scene is probably my favorite because, unlike the movie, in the play Dragon gets to have a voice and sing. Shrek rescues Fiona while Donkey battles Dragon, who has fallen in love with him, then Shrek and Donkey both battle Dragon and all get away safely. This is where Donkey, Shrek, and Fiona s adventures begin. As they make their way back to Duloc, Fiona finds out that Shrek is not handsom prince but an ogre after he takes off his helmet and even though at first she isn t appealed by his appearance they become close friends throughout their adventure. Fiona has a secret herself though and the only one who finds out at first is Donkey. This is the part in the story where Shrek overhears Fiona telling Donkey of her curse as an ogre. Shrek believes she is talking about him and storms off only for a surprise the next morning when Fiona and Donkey wake up. Lord Farquad coming to get his princess and Shrek receiving the rights to his swamp is the surprise they awoke to. Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey then have a falling out as friends. In this part of their journey Donkey fights for Shrek s friendship and accidentally lets it slip that Fiona is an ogre. They, as well as Dragon and the fairy tale creatures, then proceed to stop the wedding of Fiona and Lord Farquad. After they stop the wedding and Shrek expresses his feelings for Fiona and she shows her true self as an ogre, Dragon eats Lord Farquad. After this, the story ends, how every fairy tale story ends, happily. Shrek not only makes friends but falls in love within the story. The music within the story tells of their journey and feelings and this is what makes the story come alive to the audience. The bigger meaning behind the story is what captures your heart and makes you realize what true love is. This meaning being that true love doesn t see what s on the outside but what s on the inside. This Broadway production is my absolute favorite. From the songs to the jokes and dances this show never seizes to amaze me and catch my attention. If you ever get to see it whether it be on Broadway, a major theatre company, or a community theatre you should go see it. It provides a love story that s not just ordinary but extraordinary and has such a powerful meaning behind it. It also is closer to reality, even though it has fictional characters, and gives a good example about love. The show is amazing from the beginning. The moral behind the story is powerful and shows what true love is about. The story that is told is one that is rare and should be told to everyone. This musical provides fun, entertainment, excitement, and a heartwarming story that, in my opinion, is one of the best ever.

It was good. I've seen the musical before on Netflix and I was sorta upset that most of the songs lyrics were changed, but its ok. I understand that the school had to worry about kids watching it and not enjoy it. But I loved the humor in it!! :)

My wife and I took four children to see Shrek the Musical, ages 4,6,10 and 11. The two older ones we had to drag into the event but they enjoyed it almost as much as the younger ones and all four said they would love to see it again

I love the Shrek movies! I took my 8 year old granddaughter to see it and both of us loved the performance. She was particularly taken with Donkey! I had never seen a SCAPA performance before and it was wonderful. I will definitely be watching for performances in the future. Very well done!

This musical was very good. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is due to the inappropriate language that was used. The language was disappointing. Everyone knows that kids were going to be there so the language should not have been inappropriate.

I am amazed at the details put into this show for only a 3 day run. I would like to see the future shows done by the Pleasure Guild.

When I learned this was a volunteer crew, I was not sure what to expect. But it was outstanding on all levels! Great for all ages.

The actors did a fine job of telling the story, and the comic timing was superb. The only drawback was that the orchestra was a bit overpowering at times. The trio of Fionas gave me chills, but when Shrek, Fiona & Donkey sang together, I couldn't hear a lot of it due to the score volume.

First time seeing a Pleasure Guild performance. Very well orchestrated, great costumes and set. The performers were wonderful. A lot of hard work went into this and it benefits Nationwide Children's Hospital. Great for adults and kids, can't wait to see what show they perform next year!

Understanding that the Pleasure Guild puts on performances with only volunteers, I went into this production expecting to see a volunteer level of performance. What I received instead was a true standing ovation worthy performance that rivaled or even exceeded many performances put on by professional touring companies. The theater goers of Columbus who did not attend this event missed out. It was truly an amazing night of theater.
