The 8/3/13 bands at Cricket Wireless were awesome! The GA Pit tickets close to the stage were totally worth it! Gogol Bordello was a performance art like none I have ever seen - almost like a musical circus. The visuals and sounds coming from the stage were uniquely interesting and intense. The political and emotional lyrics were inspiring. They had my complete attention the entire time they were on stage. This is my new favorite live band! I'm not a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age, but they totally rocked it - great live show! The Killers put on an amazing show too, with quality sound and a cool laser lights. I liked Brandon Flowers before this, but now I'm totally sold - strong vocals, emotional performance, and unbelievable style!

The reason I gave this 4 stars is because I saw Cake previously this year, and their portion was basically the same as it was in September. I also felt it odd that Cake was there with the other 3 bands; they just didn't seem to fit. Not saying that I don't love Cake, I just thought the concert would have been better if they weren't there. I didn't get a good look at the first band (Matt and the Atlas) but heard from a friend that was there for all of that they weren't the best. I did however like the next band, which at the moment escapes my memory (I think they were called Fair Children, but don't quote me on it). Both bands fit very well with the Mumford and Sons vibe. Of course I absolutely loved seeing Mumford and Sons. It was one of the best concerts I've been to. I would recommend to anyone to go see them live, if they haven't sold out already.

Mumford & Sons were great live! I had an amazing time at the show and felt that they really played for the crowd and interacted with us and they sounded excellent live. I'm not a huge Cake fan, but they sounded great as well. I was very lucky to be able to see them both live.

Took my daughter to her first concert for her 15th birthday, we're both fans of Mumford and Sons. All of the music was 100% perfect!! Loved it, all of the bands put on a memorable show! Would love to see them again! Only downsides of the night was the heat, can't control that, the pot, and the drunks. Way too much pushing going on and so many rude people. I figure that I payed for a ticket I'm not drinking and missing some of the experience, the music was too good to not remember it.

This is the last time I do anything at City Market. We knew that Cake was also on the venue but totally uninformed of 2 other bands preceding Mumford & Sons. No where to sit , gates open at 6:30, at least 30 minutes between bands to set up. Mumford didn't get on stage until almost 10:00 and even then we couldn't find a spot to stand and listen that wasn't surrounded with people talking very loudly and drowning out the band. How frustrating.....wanted so much to yell 'SHUT UP"..... NEVER been in the midst of so many rude and disrespectful people. We finally went to the back of the area, at the entrance and actually saw the stage, even if it was in a distance. The stage is not visible in many areas of the concert area. We finally left and came home to listen to Mumford! This is the worst venue I could ever imagine, clearly an afterthought and not planned for concerts...BAD!!!!!

It was a beautiful HOT friday in Kansas City. Matthew and the Atlas was great but the sound wasn't ready so they couldn't hear themselves. Next time please make sure everything is ready before the show. But the band was great and they had great music. Nathaniel was great too. Their music was great. The City market was over packed and we could not move to get water or just to breathe... I think 5 or 6 girls passed out during the concert. After two bands I was tired and ready to hear Mumford. I don't know who's idea it was to invite Cake to that show but that person should be fired. Their music didn't belong there. And it was definitely too long.

First opening band= waste of time, second opening band= amazing, cake was awesome...Mumford sounded fantastic...sound guys sucked, the show was waaaay too packed. The amount of people was the worst part of the show, minus the heat. LOL but I know that can't be changed. :)

The bands that played at this event were great. I really loved Gogol Bordel and Queens of the Stone Age. The Killers put on an amazing show. The only thing is, this venue for some reason doesn't allow encores.. so the show was a bit short. Otherwise I would totally recommend this venue. But no ahead of time, since Cricket bought it, NO ENCORES! :(

This is one of the coolest concerts I have been to. Gogol bordello was so great and should have played long and after the queens of the Stone Age. The event staff was nice but up in the front of the pit there was less than helpful control. I had to beg them to talk to a rude concert goer and even then they did little to help.

The odd combination of Gogol Bordello, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Killers, was excellent. Gogol got the crowd pumped up and had an awesome stage performance. QOTSA was heavy and amazing. Event staff were nice and friendly, however there was an extremely noticeable delay in the sound system that was extremely distracting. When Queens of the stone age played it was clear as day that band and their light show was a full 2 seconds ahead of the sound coming from the PA. Also Queens of the stone age were given less stage time then the preceding band and many fans were disappointed and left before The Killers

Gogol bordello, Queens of the stone age and The Killers headlining. Such an awesome time. Great weather good people (no super drunk fools ruining everything)! The killers rocked the house. Crowd was totally into it and you could tell the band loved every minute of it. They played all my favorite songs, that never happens. The stage show was stellar lasers, fireworks and Brandon himself looking beautiful as always and full of energy even though they had just played lalapalooza the night before. Overall worth it, great bands great show.

The Lumineers headlined and rocked it. They played everything from their newest album, several new songs I haven't heard yet and even threw in a Bob Dylan cover. Their energy was high the entire time and they put on a great show. All of the openers also put on a great show with a good variety of alternative bands that complimented the headliners well.

I've been to my fair share of concerts over the past 7 years and this show is in my top 2. Each band was AMAZING. It's refreshing to go to a concert and realize the band you hear on the radio, iTunes, and youtube sounds just as good or better live. Matthew and the Atlas, Nathaniel Rateliff, Cake, and Mumford and Sons each sounded far better than any recording of theirs I have heard. Cake and Mumford were great at interacting with the audience, had us singing, jumping, clapping, and all-around excited. Out of the 6 other people I had went with, most had not been to a concert and had not hear of Cake--ALL left extremely pleased and ready to see the bands again. I could see this same show every night and not get sick of it.

My friend and I weren't able to make it to the show until before Cake took the stage. I had seen Cake a very long time ago, and was not surprised that their attitude is even more bitter than I recall. Perhaps they should consider playing songs that the audience wants to hear - - at least in the beginning to get us in the mood to hear unrecognizable tunes. Cake should consider taking stage etiquette lessons from Mumford and Sons, who were gracious and appreciative of the audience. I loved how M&S would announce a song by saying, "We'd like to play a new song for you, if that's alright with you" or "This next one is more mellow, if you don't mind." On a side note. we wondered if all the babies and little kids got in for free, because they weren't paying much attention. That's why we had a sitter hang with ours for the night. Overall, a good time. Mumford and Sons stole the show.

First off, the outdoor venue is wonderful. I didn't realize, but even the pit tickets come with seats, if you arrive early enough to claim some. The weather on this night was absolutely perfect -- really, couldn't have been better at all. Gogol were great; QOTSA were fantastic; the Killers were phenomenal. Their live show is positively one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I do a lot of concert-viewing. The crowd was engaged, friendly, and still polite; Lime-A-Ritas came in 24-oz cans for $10. Can't beat that!

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Queens of the Stone Age fan. This is my second time to see them in concert and they indeed brought the rock. Their setlist was balanced with great old songs and ones from the new album. This was my first time to see The Killers and they were a true rock and roll machine. They too had a balanced setlist and had everyone singing along to their hits. What impressed me was their stage show. They pretty much had every type of rock and roll addition to the show you can have. Wall of Sparks, fireworks, confetti cannons and one of the best laser light shows around. I was so glad I got the pit pass. It was very impressive up close. All in all, it exceeded my high expectations.

We came to see The Killers and were not disappointed by there performance. At all. I knew I loved the band, but I did not realize how incredibly well organized and powerful the show would be. They put on a true performance. The set list had been carefully constructed and there was a purposeful flow to the whole event. All the lights, background items, and other items were there to emphasis the themes of the songs, not just to distract people with wild light effects like some other concerts I've been to. All in all, just an amazing night and worth the traffic issue to stay for the last song. Gogol Bordello was fun too. I had never heard them before, but they really livened things up. We kinda napped through the other two though. Thank goodness there were some seats. Bad thing: The stalest pretzel I have ever had. When I tried to chew it, it turned to dust and I almost choked. I even showed the lady at the counter how it crumbled while she was running my card and she made a face of disgust and then of fear because she seemed new and was worried I would call the manager or something as she tried to explain it was the heating system. I should have called someone else over and gotten a refund. Instead I let sympathy control the situation and paid four dollars for inedible gravel. That was awful. And just plain aggravating. Need to work on the pretzel care.

The Killers absolutely lived up to my lofty expectations. I've heard that the mark of a great band is if they sound better live than on recording. If this is true than the Killers are among the best. Holy Moly. Gogol Bordello and Queens of the Stone Age were amazing. Feeling as if I had reached far more than the desired enjoyment from the concert tickets, I adjourned before the Killers began to play. I do not regret that one bit. Queens of the Stone Age lived to up to their hype; definitely one of the most face melting rock experiences I've ever attended, albeit short. And Gogol, hot damn, Gogol killed it too. I was afraid that they wouldn't translate to a large venue well. I was wrong. I was worried that the band drama might affect their righteous and rocking sound. I was wrong. I should have trusted them. They rocked the house.

Gogol Bordello was great and energetic! Queens of the Stoneage were terrific!! The Killers Killed it! It was a great show! As always, the lawn section at Sandstone was a fun atmosphere. My only critique is that: the music played in between sets was NOT relative to the bands that were booked. They played Phil Collins, Heart, etc. at an alternative music concert. They did not connect to the audience at all. :(

Gogol Bordello was a surprise, great show, interaction, music and just a great band. The Killers were fantastic, good mix of old and new, great light show as well.

Event was great!! Lumineers were even better live than their albums! And the Everclear/filter/live tickets were an added bonus! Thanks!

96.5 the Buzz knows how to throw a concert! They picked amazing bands that really wanted to connected and share with the audience. Many of the band members were walking around us during the show and didn't hesitate to take pictures with fans. Several of them even watched the show from the audience. Really great to see the bands as really people and not just figure heads for their amazing music.

All the bands were phenomenal. I didn't know much of the other bands, but the sound quality was great and everyone put on such a good show. I would go to another Lumineers concert in a second, and honestly this was the best venue I have ever been to. Would definitely recommend going to any concert at this place. Be prepared for a long wait to get out of the place though!!

I enjoyed the show. Cold War Kids and The Lumineers were great. The Moglies were okay. The Neighborhood sounded terrible but that's on them. We had a great time.

The booze was ok, a little pricy. It rained some, The order of the bands sucked. The Mowgli's were much better than the Neighborhood. The Mowgli's entertained the crowd, the Neighborhood just played. I ended up leaving early, because I couldn't stand to listen to them anymore. The wait in between bands was long. Overall, it wasn't worth the 40 bucks.

This show was a mixed bag. J. Roddy Walston and the Business were quite good for an opening act. The Mowgli's were excellent and fit nicely with the headliner. I would have paid extra to not have the Neighborhood on the bill. In fairness to them, there seemed to be some equipment and sound issues, their performance lacked dynamic range. Most of the songs had the same plodding beat. The singer seems to use a similar pseudo-melody on most of the songs. The band seemed to suck the energy out of the place. The Cold War Kids were better and they were probably more polished than the opening act, but I actually enjoyed "The Business" more. The Lumineers were outstanding. While their set was more laid back as you would expect from listening to their CD, they actually had more energy and brought more energy than the Neighborhood or the Cold War Kids. The Lumineers left the stage and performed out in the audience for a few songs and that was a nice touch of intimacy. One comment for the Lumineers - your cello player is an amazing singer - take advantage of her powerful voice more often. Great show!

The headlining Lumineers were great live. They provided a great setlist and overall great show. The other acts were okay. The Neighborhood had poor sound quality. The majority of the concert-goers were obnoxious high school students who detracted from the overall enjoyment of the concert.

Although we arrived late everyone was very nice and helpful. The 2 bands that we saw were energetic and played great sets! Cold War kids rocked for their whole set with a super bance of hits and lesser known songs and the lumineers did an amazing job getting the crowd into it :) all in all a great experience for myself and my 4 year old son

Overall the show was really good, but the differences in music types of the bands was a little strange. Lets break down the bands here: J. Roddy Walston and the Business: These guys rocked! Kinda an old rock type of vibe with all members of the band rocking long hair too. Good amounts of distortion and the constant riffs from the singer banging on the piano. Sound quality was really good. The Mowglis: Good folk music type of band promoting kindness and peace, can't beat that! Liked all their music. One thing I did not like was how they had talking bits in and between songs, they felt overly rehearsed and was a bit annoying. Sound quality was good. The Neighbourhood: I like the album but sadly did not like them live. Singer off key and sound quality in general was not very good. Whole band was dressed in black and didn't do much for showmanship besides the singer awkwardly dancing around and acting like a hypeman for a rap group... Cold War Kids: Radio hits were great, everything else was meh. Great showmanship. Great sound quality. The Lumineers: folk music at its finest! Reall great showmanship and sound quality!

All the bands were pretty spectacular, But I'd never even heard of J Roddy Walston and the Business before going to Buzz Under the Stars. I bought a CD and have been listening to it almost non stop. The CD is great but what you really want is to see them live. What a soulful show!! Wonderful bluesy rock with a whole lotta soul! Love Love Loved It!!!

Weather was probably a factor but the music was only average and the overcrowding was pretty evident in the lawn, concessions and bathroom area. Also, event restrictions should be clarified on the website better.

I missed the first band but enjoyed The Mowgli's. They weren't the most talented band but had a ton of energy. What they lost in being too preachy, they gained in exuberance. It's cool the lead singer is from KC (and even rocked a KU T-shirt), and it was funny watching him get ID'd for a beer after the band's set. The Neighbourhood did the longest sound check I've ever seen, and for good reason. They sounded great. Lead singer's thrusting around the stage didn't seem to fit. Cold War Kids didn't do a soundcheck, something I don't think I've seen. No matter. They were all business, pounding through energetic hit after hit. I'm shocked they've only been touring since 2006. They were a force of nature, totally on time and giving the crowd a fantastic vibe. "We Used to Vacation" and "Tuxedos" were the highlights, and "Hang Me Out to Dry" got the crowd buzzing. Finally, The Lumineers. Holy hell, what a performance. They interacted with the crowd and played the role of an underdog band, not the Top 40 superstar they've become. They had so much coordination between their five pieces, and seemed genuinely surprised to feel such strong support. They ventured out into the audience to perform three songs, a cool idea that was only "Meh" in reality. It didn't end up mattering, because the rest of the set was fantastic.

I cannot say enough about this show. Every single band was amazing. I would see each and every one of them again. The Lumineers are as good live as in studio. I highly recommend seeing them if you have the chance. This venue was awesome and we could see everything from our seats.
