Genesis

Genesis is a member of a small elite of British bands that have not only achieved massive international success but have sustained this over four decades.  The news that the band's most successful line-up of Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford were reforming after a break of 15 years for a European tour, was seized on by both fans and media alike. Genesis have a sort of Midas Touch:  the band released a series of groundbreaking albums in the seventies, became superstars in the eighties, survived the departures of not one but two lead vocalists/members at a crucial stage in their career, and have inspired tribute bands dedicated to just about every album in their superlative catalogue. They have sold over 130 million albums worldwide, played 1400 shows, including some of the most ambitious and theatrical performances ever staged, and gone from bottom of the bill with their Charisma label mates Lindisfarne and Van Der Graaf Generator in 1971 to headlining four consecutive sell-out dates at Wembley Stadium in 1987 playing to 288,000 people in totalThey have topped the charts around the world with albums as diverse as Duke, Abacab, Genesis, Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance and they remain a staple at radio across Europe, the US, Canada and beyond with tracks like ‘I Know What I Like', ‘Follow You, Follow Me', ‘Mama', ‘That's All', ‘In Too Deep', ‘Land Of Confusion', ‘Tonight, Tonight, Tonight' and ‘Throwing It All Away'.

This was my first big conceert, saw it less than a month after high school graduation in 1992. I had liked Phil Collins and Genesis music for a while, and even did a presentation in school about the band. It was a foreshadowing of my career as a comedian.

What an EXCELLENT show this was! Even now, after four years, I still consider this one of the best concerts I've ever attended. (Having a complete copy of this exact show helps to relive it all.) They played songs spanning their whole catalog, from Ripples and Carpet Crawlers through Invisible Touch, and more. With projections spanning the entire Genesis career and all members past and present, the concert was almost everything any longtime fan could ask for. After being there for this show, the only thing I would ask for would be for them to come back again...

Certainly not the biggest fan but I have heard there is some discussion about them possible performing a tour based upon the Lamb Lies down on Broadway. I have heard they already approached Gabriel who once again appears to have said no to participating in any sort of a reunion tour. More pity for him for I am certainly there is at least one other fan out there who would love to see them together once again. Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Michael Rutherford, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett, Chester Thompson, and last but not least Daryl Stuermer. To see everyone on stage again would be a night to remember. Watched them in Saint Paul, Minneapolis MN, Chicago Il but would love to see them at Red Rock

I have never seen them live. I im just writing because i really want to see them tour in Hollywood Bowl. I barely became a fan. I Love their songs from the 80's. Hopefully they will tour again. I like it when Phil, Mike, and Tony are there. I dont care about the rest, their expendable. I personally think that Phil is a better singer and frontman than Peter, although Peter is good. I am dying to see them at least once so please GENESIS come to the Hollywood Bowl.
