He is so talented and clever. He brings in great and interesting talent. Noah Hale on harmonica and Geralyn Steele plus others made for a fantastic program I go every year. He pay tributes to great historic artists so the audience learns about the Blues singers and composers.

I've been a fan of the blues for decades - Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Bessie Smith etc. The interweaving of music and stories about the 'originals' was great. I commented to my son (who also attended the concert) that I ALMOST felt guilty having so much fun during Lent! I hope to attend next year . . . .

I had never seen PAT in a big auditorium. It went by so fast! What talent! To say merely that he is a GREAT GUITARIST,would not do him justice.Pat can read his aufience. He has a beautiful voice, and has written both beautiful "deep"songs over the years, and funny ones ,too.(ah yes the Irsh Blues!) He will go to something very serious to something very funny to keep his audience "wondering what he will do next".GREAT SHOW".St Paul GEM! Will certainly go next year,if he does another solo show. The fact that Garrison Keilor made a cameo appearance, says allot of the respect he has for PAT!:) I certainly find that the Paters in the TC underate this wonderful ARTIST!

I thought it was a great show. Very entertaining. Lots of variety. I think the theme of radio shows wasn't exactly carried throughout....but didn't matter. Pat was great, and appreciate the fact that he is humble enough to showcase all his friends.

i've never seen pat donohue live, but my dad has several times. my whole family went and we were lucky enough to sit in the center of the second row, right in front of the stage - i had a great view of pat's 'picking hand.' one of our favorite parts was when pat came out after intermission and sat down on a stool - a screen came down, covering him completely. everything went dark in the theater, the screen lit up and you could see his shadow playing behind it. about half-way through the number he came walking out from behind it, not playing at all - everyone started laughing. the spotlight lit him up as he sat down on another stool adjacent to the screen and played a duet with himself. it was great to see the other musicians he had up on stage with him, particularly noah hoehn, an amazing harmonica player with fabulous style. he left everyone in my family with our mouths hanging open at least twice during the show. stuart duncan was also wonderful on the fiddle; roma de luna played as well, they were as great as i knew they'd be. many familiar songs were played, and the audience was often invited to sing along - everyone really got into it. when the players came back onstage after their standing ovation to play the final song (their version of walk of life by the dire straits), as everyone was sitting back down, i said "thank you" to pat, for coming back out. he answered me, saying "no, thank you - you're seeing me having about as much fun as a grown man can have." that was evident throughout the show - everyone had a blast.

Pat Donohue is a superb guitarist and has a lot of friends who are excellent on their instruments. That includes both his "backup" players and his guest "front of the stage" players. His repertoire is broad. So, don't go thinking it's going to be all country, all blues, all rock n' roll, or all anything else. You'll be caught up in the music and be tapping or singing along. The staging at the Fitz is quite good as well. It supports the music and doesn't overwhelm it.
