This was my first time seeing Great Lake Swimmers live and also my first time visiting The Ark. The Concert exceeded all my expectations. The band was fantastic, they played with such emotion and heart. They were so humble when I met them after the show, what a great group of people. Also venue itself was such a perfect setting, the acoustics of the place were phenomenal and the staff was lovely. I can't wait to see GLS again & visit The Ark!

The show was scheduled for 8 pm but the band didn't get on stage until 10:10 pm which was a little disappointing considering that it was a Monday night. Besides that, the band was wonderful, really got the crowd engaged and having fun in no time.

It is wonderful to see them and hear them in such an intimate setting like the Ann Arbor Ark. The Pines were great, too. Their new songs were great, too. I'll get the CD when it comes out.

Tony Dekker's voice and music are unforgettable! A must see as his studio music comes across quite nicely on stage, especially at a smaller venue like The Ark. I really enjoyed how his song showcase the talents of backup singer, Miranda, on the violin and Erik's banjo playing. To steal a line from Tony......"thank you singer."

I have been listening to this group recently, so I bought some tickets when I learned they were playing near by. They sounded amazing. Each band member contributed greatly to the overall sound. As part of the encore, they played a song written for a children's compilation. I recognized it from "Mama Yamma", a children's show my daughter watches on CBC. It was fun and light, and a big hit with the audience.

This show was one of the best I have been to from start to finish. The two opening bands were amazing, and Great Lake Swimmers sound even more amazing live then they do on their albums. I am a fan for life, can't wait to see them again soon. I am also excited to learn more about the two opening bands, their sound really complimented each other nicely.

The whole concert was a very nice experience; good music - fresh, poetically beautiful, sincere and original. Without the commercial taste of mainstream bands, Great Lake Swimmers and the opening acts did a great job, vocally, instrumentally and lyrically. The Wooden Birds provided just the perfect opening and the venue had just the right atmosphere for this musically and aesthetically satisfying experience.

the show was great and the venue was truly the best to see this band, as it is fantastic for a intimate setting and you really felt like you were an important part of the show. besides that, they played really well and the band was tight....especially love the upright bass and the violinist, they add so much.

From the transparency of the lyrics to the modesty of Tony Dekker to the smooth instrumentation, this concert was even better than I expected as a two-year fan of this group.

This was perhaps one of my favorite shows. These guys are no joke when it comes to sound production and true talent. Tonys voice was so hauntingly beautiful that I even shed a little tear. The bands sound was so precise. There changes were perfect. The drummer sounded like 2 guys in one. I can not get over how talented and beautiful there music was. I love them more now that I saw them live and they were one of my favorites.

It is rare these days to hear a voice so pure and music so unique, truly haunting. The tone quality is comparable to Coldplay, and songwriting is a hybrid between Damien Rice and Neil Diamond. The only fault that could be called out is stage presence. They seemed limited in their ability to talk to the audience... but don't let that scare you... just tick it up to the group still being young up and comers. Strongly recommend seeing them, though for now would only give them 3 stars. Over the next couple years, as they develop, there is no doubt that they will grow into a 5 star show.

The venue (The Ark in Ann Arbor) was smoke free, had impeccable sound and cheap drinks. The band played a very long (in a good way) set and every member was a master musician. One of the better shows I have ever seen.
