Born Ruffians
Canadian indie rockers Born Ruffians make driving, post-punk-inspired music full of spindly guitars, syncopated rhythms, and soaring sing-along vocals. At their dynamic live shows the band takes audiences on an epic journey, tearing through anthemic tracks like \"I Need a Life\" and \"Permanent Hesitation\" with a mixture of adrenaline-fueled energy and focused intensity. They're masters of tension and release, building suspense with dramatic pauses and adding depth to their songs with ambient guitar textures. Whether they're playing early cuts like \"Hummingbird\" or performing songs from their acclaimed 2015 album Ruff, Born Ruffians always impres.

this show was actually better than i expected. i love the music, but sometimes shows are kind of boring anyway, you know what i mean? anyway, their setlist was arranged really well that made the show flow well, and made it a lot of fun. would recommend!

I love Born Ruffians, and my relationship with their music goes way back to about 2003, so it was great to see they weren't playing sold out stadiums, but still making excellent music and keeping the atmosphere close knit and relaxed. They haven't disappointed me yet!

Great show. Born Ruffians played an encore with some of their best songs. The opening act wasn't half bad.

Born Ruffians was electric and seemed to be one with the crowd. The positive energy and music seemed to all gel perfectly. It seemed that time had slowed and that they had only played for 30 minutes. The band knows how to put on a show!!!

I have followed this band from 2009 and have always been a large fan of their music. For this concert I bought tickets for my little brother and cousin because I have gotten them into the newest album- 'Birthmarks'- and we were looking forward to this event for many many weeks. Their sound is amazing. The lead singer has the voice of an angel. He also kept having these freakouts because things on stage kept breaking. And while I understand that we are all human and sometimes things can't go as planned, I still can't believe how he behaved. He seriously stormed off stage twice and it made for a very tense show. Because of this drama there wasn't even an encore and many of the songs I had been looking forward to had either been skipped or were very uncomfortable. There wasn't even an encore! It ended so abruptly. I don't know if I'd want to see them again. Really disappointing. Props to the bassist though, he kept talking to the crowd and seemed to really step up when shit hit the fan.

This past event was my second time seeing them. I saw them perform a few years ago at the Bell House. Back then it was a much smaller crowd and just them on their instruments. This go around, there were probably around 300-400 people there..maybe more (I'm terrible at estimating crowds). Their music sounded over-produced, with sound effects throughout many of their songs, including old ones. Throughout their set then band experienced some tech difficulties and their sound was off. About 5-6x the mic fell off the stand during the set, which made for a loud popping noise during their performance. On a few of these occasions, if not all of them, I'm pretty sure Luke Lalonde knocked it over and kept blaming the equipment for the poor performance. Lalonde seemed to have a few meltdowns during this show. He and the band came off poorly at this show because of their immature behavior due to their complaining about the equipment. I might see them again if the show is at a good venue and priced right.

The Born Ruffians are a fine pick if you're looking for a fun, no BS concert. The music is upbeat, the vocals are lively and they make it a point to play older tracks for long time fans and their newer stuff to get people pumped. This was their record release show, so they played a lot of new music from Birthmarks which was released on April 16th. While the music is on par, they could improve their crowd work a bit. Front man LaLonde is mostly non-existent in that regard, but bass player DeRosier makes up for it by talking to the audience between songs.
