This was a must see show. Among the Oak and Ash played a great set to open the show and get the audience primed. Landon Pigg followed with a decent, although failrly short, set that nicely led into A Fine Frenzy. The real measure of the show of course was set by A Fine Frenzy. From the moment the curtain opened on their set the house was alive with an enormous engery. Between beautifully sung and played songs, Allison Sudol had a great rapport with the audience making them feel as though she were chatting with old friends as opposed to a room full of adoring fans. The music itself was certainly the best part of the show though. After this live performance listening to an A Fine Frenzy album will never be good enough again.

A Fine Frenzy is one of the best live performances I've been to, especially in such an intimate setting. One of my favorite concerts ever.

Landon Pigg's music is so soothing to listen to listen to and is realy enjoyable. A Fine Frenzy was a lot of fun and played a wide variety of music. Overall it was a great performance on both of their parts.

Absolutely fantastic. Expected to hear good music but didn't expect to fall in love. Allison was not only a great singer, she engaged the audience and had us all in the palm of her hand. A tremendous talent that I would expect to only get more recognition as more people here her music.

I thought the concert was fairly flat. Alison and the band seemed to be going through the motions with the exception of a couple of new songs off the new CD. This was the third concert I have gone to, so very much a fan, but was disappointed with the show overall. Alison tried a little too hard to be the "bad girl" and it came off ingenious.

The music itself was amazingly great, but the time you had to wait in between sets was ridiculous. We did show up to the venue to wait around, we came there to see the artists play their music so when you sit there and wait 20 to 30 minutes after the stage was set it kind of reduces the excitement of who you re here to see.

Overall, the concert was excellent. Landon Pigg was very enjoyable and very funny. Fine Frenzy took the stage and there wasn't a dull moment after. Their setlist was outstanding and they were all very charismatic and talented. Bravo.

I kind of miss the old Fine Frenzy, the first time I heard them/her play at Birchmere was just amazing. Her voice was flawless, the piano was in tune and was immersed in the melody. I didn't really like the new addition of the guitars to the songs that really deserve just the piano and Alison's voice.

First time to see them live, and would definitely buy tix again in the future. Other than an obvious sound-mixing problem at times (drums overpowering the vocals), the band sounded great! Couldn't tell if Alison was fighting a minor cold (sipping tea throughout the show), but her voice definitely got stronger throughout the evening. Perfect mix of old and new, fast and slow songs! Really enjoyed Landon Pigg, who opened, as well.

First, off the venue was incredible. The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA is nothing short of magical. I love that they give you line numbers according to when you pick up your tickets so that you don't have to wait outside in a long line before your show. They let you pick up your tickets at the box office starting at 5pm and you are allowed to wait inside where it's warm before they start calling your numbers to get seats at 6p.m. The sound at this place is amazing. We were sitting really close to the gentleman working the sound board, and could tell he really paid attention to the whole band and knew what he was doing to make every single person sound the best. The first opening band, Among the Oak and Ash, blew me away. Josh Joplin's energy is indescribable. They had no drummer, but the beat Joplin creates when just by stomping his feet while playing the guitar makes up for not having any drums. They segued easily between old-timey mountain gospel and pure rock and roll. I felt like I witnessed a tiny slice of music history in their short but sweet set. Landon Pigg is a talented singer songwriter, however I just wasn't feeling it that night. I personally think there is only but so much room I have in my head and heart for the singer/songwriter type and at present that space is full. But I will not disparage his abilities in the least, because I believe there's something out there for everyone. If you really love the soft-voiced, melodic singer-songwriter then check him out. For me, for this night, I wasn't too particularly into it. But then, Among the Oak and Ash was a hard act to follow. Now for the main act - this was my first time seeing A Fine Frenzy live and it was everything I had expected and more. Alison Sudol is a performer in every sense of the word. You can tell that when she sings, it is truly pouring out from the heart. I was brought to tears numerous times, but especially during The Minnow and the Trout. I happened to glance at the table next to ours during this song, and another girl was inconspicuously trying to wipe a tear at the same time as me. I think Alison and the whole band were really having a terrific time dressing up for Halloween, and the atmosphere again was magical. I will never miss a chance to see Alison and A Fine Frenzy. As far as female performers go, she is the best I have ever seen. She is sweet and sexy, tragic and joyous all at once. She is definitely not one to be missed, ever.

Truly a wonderful show. A Fine Frenzy is a great band that is bursting with talent. The singer, Allison, has an absolutely beautiful voice. She also plays keyboards and guitar! I can't say enough about the show. Opening act Among the Oak & Ash were great too. They just loving jamming even on what looked like a ukulele! I highly recommend this show.

You know when you go see someone in concert and realize you love them so much more on CD than live? Well....that is SOOOOOOOOOO NOT the case w/ A Fine Frenzy! AMAZING!!! I could sit and listen to/watch them for hours! Alison Sudol was about the cutest person I've ever seen -- she lit up the stage! She did an amazing job...but the highlight of the show was the encore when they did Stood Up. That is a great song on the CD...but when they do it in person...there isn't anything like it! I would go see them again in a heartbeat!!

The concert was amazing! We met everyone before the show and A Fine Frenzy and Landon Pigg and Among the Oak and Ash and everyone involved were spectacular. They were so nice and the music sounded amazing. Landon Pigg sounds has the best live performance voice I've ever heard and A Fine Frenzy is just magical. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

This was my first time seeing A Fine Frenzy and I was excited because I had read online that the location was small and intimate (The Birchmere in VA). It definitely was and it set the scene for a great concert. The show was amazing. The first act (Into the Oak and Ashes) was really very good. Middle act (Landon Pigg) was fair, but A Fine Frenzy blew us all away. She had a good mix of music off of both of her albums, plus new music that isn't on either, as well as music that is not original to her. You could tell that she not only enjoyed singing, but she enjoyed being up on stage - she had such a good time, which only spread and resulted in everyone having a good time. The show was really so exceptional and I would definitely go to see her again.

This show was so amazing that I really can't say much about it. A Fine Frenzy put on a great show and when Alsion sang you could feel the emotion in her voice and see it in her face. I was torn between closing my eyes; relishing in the moment and watching her tear up to Almost Lover. It was amazing and worth every second. The hour and a half that they were on stage felt like ten minutes. I left wanting more.

Full of energy! Both opening bands were excellent. A Fine Frenzy not only sounded even better than the cd, but their performance was very enjoyable. From the dancing, to the way every lyric felt true. That was my first time at The Parish, and I definitely loved the intimate setting. It was amazing, thanks so much!!!

This was one of the best performances that I have ever seen. Alison Sudol is truely talented and a lot of fun to watch perform. Her cover of Blonde's "Heart of Glass" was outstanding. The Parish at the HOB New Orleans was the coolest venue I've ever been to. It was an amazing night.

I really enjoyed seeing A Fine Frenzy. A long time fan, the concert lived up to all of my expectations! Alison is a beautiful performer, upbeat, and I loved how dramatic and expressive she was. I enjoyed the opening bands as well. I had never heard their music, but the concert left me a new fan, I think! My only complaint is the time. To have A Fine Frenzy begin at 10:45 I had to leave early in order to commute home. That's my only regret! The Parish is a great venue and I fully enjoyed the experience.

Having been a fan of A Fine Frenzy for some time I was overly excited about this concert and walked away 100% satisfied. The opening band - Among the Oad and Ash - was incredible. I wish they could have played longer because their energy and off the chart. AFF played a great set including a mix of old and new and even a Blondie cover. The encore was fantastic and Allision's personality is so fresh and uplifting. The only problem was that her keyboard was angled to the right so we had to look at her back for much of the show. She stuck around after the show to sign autographs and take photos. Those of us who stayed for that were thrilled to have the opportunity and she was very friendly.

Awesome show! Alison Sudol's vocals were amazing and the band was in great form. Alison Sudol has great stage presence and is fun to watch and listen to. This is the second time we've seen them and they still put on a fabulous show. The Birchmere is a wonderful venue to host them because you get that great intimate feeling from no matter where you sit. Loved the whole show!!! The opening acts were mavelous too with Landon Pigg and Among the Oak and Ash!

the 2 opening bands were AMAZING!!!! i highly recommend seeing Among the Oak & Ash and also Landon Pigg. both were very talented and had GREAT stage presence. they know how to put on a show. A Fine Frenzy wasn't necessarily bad, but anyone over age 25 would probably get more out of listening to her CDs as opposed to seeing her live. "Video killed the radio star," ya know? she didn't connect with her audience at all until the very end, which--for me and my friends--was worth the wait. throughout the rest of her show, she floated around on stage and waved her arms and it was just painfully obvious that it was all this phony act. she wasn't even feeling her own music. yet, at the very end, she played the piano and sang Almost Lover. then, and only then, she connected with her audience as the full house sang along. she actually teared up. she actually watched us and actively listened to us sing her song. THAT was a moment. but, that was the only one. i still bought a t-shirt. and even though i unsuccessfully tried to trade it halfway through the show for a shirt from Among the Oak & Ash, i still wore A Fine Frenzy's shirt the next day. her music is still good. i just don't recommend seeing her live unless you just want to go out and maybe pick up some new music by seeing talented, albeit lesser known underground, openers.

It's no doubt that A Fine Frenzy's music is very well composed in all aspects. And the 2 bands before her, Among the Oak and Ash and Landon Pigg, offered great music. As far as seeing them in concert, well, it just wasn't what I'd hoped. If you know any of the songs from these bands, you'd think that their concert would be mellow, but that wasn't the case. It's not like I've never been to a concert before, but I have to say it was a little loud, and the microphones weren't up to par because their voices were kind of distorted. As far as performances go, bravo to Among the Oak and Ash and A Fine Frenzy because they kept me excited the whole time, and Landon Pigg, though a little less exciting, did really well too. All in all, they were great to see live, but it was far from the perfect show.

I love A fine frenzy, Alison Sudol can belt it out but I absolutely could NOT hear or understand any of her lyrics. I don't know if it was the sound system or if she was off but she would sing real low and than real high. She was pitchy and all over the place. I did not stay to see the end, it wasn't worth it if I couldn't understand what the hell she was singing.

This was probably one of my favorite concert experiences EVER!!! Ali is amazing, the crowd was so into it, they played ALL my faves off their old album and the new, and the venue was so intimate that you felt like it was a private concert. Her lyrics are poetry and the emotions she expresses are ones that everyone who's ever been in love or had their heart broken can completely relate to. She's fragile and ethereal to the eye and in the way she moves. But, she opens her mouth and the you realize she's Fierce! Love, love, love her! We all did! And, we'll definitely be back to the Wonder Ballroom. Welcoming people and an intimate setting.

Drove 4 hrs to see her and she was excellent. I love to listen to her cds, eps, and new christmas album....especially to mellow out and relax. When you go to a concert you want to have fun and dance a bit, so I wasn't to sure what to expect. What I got was a nice rockin' concert. When she sings live she brings EVERYTHING. She is quite energetic and you can just feel her energy through her performance. She is way too cute for words and she makes you wish you could hang out with her for the day. Of course everyone wanted her to sing Almost Lover and the way she did it was awesome. She was getting ready to play Almost Lover and a fan shouted out "Best Song EVER" and she couldn't help but to enjoy the moment before she got back into the mood of the song and delivered it tremendously with great emotion. The only song I had hoped for that she didn't sing was Ashes & Wine, but she made up for it with having such an enjoyable concert. Her cover of Blondie was quite unexpected and brilliant! Also of note she sold autographed copies of her newest cd, so of course I had to get it again for that purpose! GO SEE HER!!!

A Fine Frenzy and Landon Pigg! What a combination! Both Landon and Ali (and their respective bands) were absolutely unforgettable, as the show felt more like a suspended dream than a concert. A Fine Frenzy was incredible, and she had so much energy onstage! The emotion she puts into her songs during live performances is unforgettable, and I would definitely go see her again! The one downside, the two opening bands played for way too long before she came on... and the second one wasn't very good at all. But the waiting was well worth Alison's performance with her band, so I would recommend A Fine Frenzy concert to anyone!

My only complaint is that I thought the opening acts were a little too long, and setting up the equipment took quite awhile too. By the time Alison got on stage, I was already tired from standing for 2 hours. I don't know how long they played because I had to leave after an hour. I really enjoyed "Among the Oak and Ash", the first opener.

This was my first live show for A Fine Frenzy and I was terribly pleased! Ali's rich voice is so sweet, inventive and energizing. Her compulsive dancing was infectious; I love being part of a show where the entertainer truly enjoys her work. The venue choice was nice as it kept the cost down, but standing only can be tiresome. It did allow for dancing, though! Landon Pigg was also a pleasant surprise! Although he was an unknown to me, I'll be going out to find his album!

Alison Sudol and her bandmates played a great show last night. Personally, I coulda used a little more bass, as it sounded a little empty to me. Several of her songs are really driven by the bass, and without it, they lacked, unfortunately. Alison's vocals were great, musicianship was great. Is it me or does it seem like she has SO many teeth! Beautiful girl, amazing dimples, and a fun show. I'll be back next time for sure.
