This band played songs from three different albums, which was great - really showcased their wide array of talents. The sound engineer wasn't paying attention, unfortunately - the bass was way high, and drowned out the strings element. The stage show (lights) were good. The band seemed very into the show. The use of the taped synths and drum machine were very lame. The were at their best performing the material off their first two albums; the new material they performed was actually better live than on the record.

We went to a very small place called Culture Room. I like shows like this cause is more intimate and more in contact with the performers. Overall, the show was amazing and one thing that I kept mentioning every time they finished a song was: "They look like they're really into their music." and it shows. That's what I look for in concerts, more than performance, you can see the passion. I would love to go and see them again!

I attended the Ra Ra Riot show on October 20th at the Music Box in LA! I was looking forward to the show for two reasons. One, it was my birthday and Two, I work for a band that they did a remix for and loved so I could not wait to see them live. What a magical show! Very simple stage show, it was all about the music and I love that. I recommend going to see them if you are lucky enough to have them roll through your city, you will not be disappointed!

It was my first time to Bowery Ballroom -- just moved to NYC a few months ago. The venue is very cool, and a lot smaller than I though it would be, which was excellent. The opening act, Lower Dens, was mediocre, which was too bad, but Ra Ra Riot was amazing! Their sound was perfect and they had a great setlist, most all from The Orchard. And Wes Miles was wearing the same yellow button down shirt that I was, so there's that. Ha.

With Sounds like Bright Eyes, Beatles, and Other indie alt bands out there, Ra Ra Riot has successfully blended classical music and popular music to bring forth a new genre, neo classical alternative rock. With not just one string player but two, a violinist and a cellist. It makes them stand out, and set apart from their equals in the indie scene. You can hear their beatles influence on the song Suspended in Gaffa, and their classical influence on Can you Tell. But they truly excel when they play Ghost on the Rocks, and Dying is fine, both of which blend perfectly their classical and popular sounds. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new band to listen to.

The venue was the perfect size for Ra Ra Riot as they are still growing a fanbase. They sounded great and actually had a great deal more UMPH to their sound when performing live. Hopefully, they gain some steam and next time around we can see them at a bigger venue like Revolution or the Fillmore.

My fiance introduced me to Ra Ra Riot about 2 years ago, and we had never seen them live before. Their music reminds us of when we started getting more serious in our relationship. It was so awesome to see them live and be SO CLOSE to them at the Masquerade, especially so soon after we got engaged. They were amazing in concert, and their music and vocals transfered so well! When the opening band, the Givers, (who we've seen live 3 times and who are incredible performers!) were on stage, there was a guy behind us holding drumsticks and performing air drums to the Givers music. It turned out, he was the drummer of Ra Ra Riot, and I must say he is one of the most talented drummers I have seen! You can see that he's passionate! How great to go to a concert, be SO CLOSE to incredible musicians, know practically every word to their songs, and I never knew before this night what any of them looked like. It was a really cool and fun experience!

With a show time of 9, the first opener, The Givers, began the evening right on time. The Lafayette, Louisiana, 5-piece: Kirby Campbell - drums/samples/vocals, Taylor Guarisco - guitar/vocals, Tif Lamson - vocals/percussion/ukulele, Josh Leblanc - bass, and William Henderson - synths/samples/vocals, also had an additional female on stage providing added sampling, backing vocals and percussion. The songs heard during the 30-minute set were akin to Ra Ra Riot but with emphasis on percussion rather than stringed instruments. They band received a well-deserved, positive audience response. If they were to be second rather than the first to play this night, they may have upstaged Ra Ra Riot. Up next at 9:50 was the Villagers. Villagers is a solo vehicle for Irish singer/songwriter Conor J. O Brien. He specializes in atmospheric, indie folk/chamber pop. O Brien began with a solo number and was then joined by a 4-piece backing band (guitar, bass, keys, drums). The presence of these added players did help provide more oomph to the emo-like song styling. The 45-minute set ended with O Brien again performing a solo number. While this set was actually better than what had been anticipated, I would have preferred a somewhat shorter set given the time element. Ra Ra Riot then began right at 11 to what now was effectively a full downstairs. The Ra Ra Riot 6-piece from Syracuse, NY, is Milo Bonacci - guitar, Alexandra Lawn - cello, Wesley Miles - keyboards/vocals, Mathieu Santos - bass guitar, Rebecca Zeller - violin, and Cameron Wisch - drums. The band s set list placed emphasis on The Orchard, their 2010 release, but did include better known songs from prior releases. Like when seen before they were a definite crowd pleaser and truly worth the effort to attend.

I first saw Ra Ra Riot open for Death Cab for Cutie in the Spring of 2009. Never heard of them before. And WOW, I enjoyed them MORE than DCFC. So when they came around again, you bet I made sure I was there, this time getting to here a FULL Ra Ra set. This time around was different for me, as I knew all of their songs. They did not disappoint. It can be hard to describe Ra Ra and their sound at times. All I know is its FUN, BRIGHT & COLORFUL, and I just plain feel HAPPY. The violin & cello add SO much, well, they wouldn't be Ra Ra without them. And the lead singer, Wes Miles. Love him. He sings so effortlessly, always somewhat peaceful. Totally worth every penny, can't wait to see them again. Check them out!

Ra Ra Riot is amazing live. They sound even better than on their CDs. The two opening bands, We Barbarians and Chikita Violenta, were great too. I hadn't heard of them before this but I went and bought some of their music the next day. Sometimes you find your new favorite band by going in time to see the opening bands. I found out about Ra Ra Riot because they were the opening band for Death Cab at Red Rocks and now they are my favorite band.

Ra Ra Riot was an amazing show. I'm so glad I went. The opening bands were a bit week, but once Ra Ra Riot came on that as instantly forgotten. The band members looked like they were having a blast performing and really got into their music, which in turn caused the audience to go crazy, actively engaged in the show. They have a stage presence that will not allow them to be overlooked or forgotten.

Firstly, the venue Ra Ra Riot picked in Boston was amazing. A great crowd full of lively people, and the venue was a very nice place for this type of concert. Wes Miles, the lead singer, has an incredible voice. This is definitely not a studio band, they live to perform! Everything from the cello, the violin, the vocals, and the bass sounded good, if not better than the album. The concert was also very personal, especially since I was so close to the band. (8-10 feet.) Overall, this concert was unforgettable, and the next time Ra Ra Riot comes into town, I'll definitely be there.

this band was incredible. I had never seen them live before and it was a completely different experience. While the music itself is quite....mellow, live the energy was amazing. the lead singer had a very real voice and the overall talent of the band was obvious. Using guitars, drums, electric cello, and violin, the sound produce was original. Much more than just another teen rock band. this band has soul.

the two opening bands left something to be desired...all i could hear was loud sound, no discernible lyrics. ra ra riot was verryy good though, sounded better than the album! wes was perfectly in-tune & the band had good stage presence. they played mostly their old album, some of the new stuff but none of the slow songs, so it was a fun show for the audience. :) i'll definitely see them next time they're in philly! ONE THING: the band members didn't want pictures taken, so cameras had to be checked at the front desk. people taking pictures on their phones were asked to stop by the staff. just as a warning to anyone else to not bring a camera.

this was my third time seeing ra ra riot and they keep getting better. they're one of the few bands out there that actually sounds just as good if not better live. plus, with their new album out they really have a nice mix of songs from The Orchard and The Rhumb Line for a long set. some songs such as too too fast got the audience dancing while others such as the orchard leave the audience in awe.

I love this band. Wes' voice is incredible. It sounds even better live, which is a rarity. I wish he had better between-song banter (I'd rather hear something more personal than "thank you very much" and "we're glad to be here"), but the band's presence while performing is unmatched. Alex is stunning behind that cello, and I'm glad to see her highlighted on the new album.

Putting these three groups together on one ticket was terrific. Plus having the opportunity to meet and speak with the members of We Barbarians and Chikita Violenta was a brilliant business move. Ra Ra Riot was one hell of a jumpin good time, but I don't think the night would have been as incredible without North Highlands getting it going. I missed the first opener, but from the first note of the NH set, you could tell a lot of people would be going in to work late the next day. Great songs played by both bands. I left 95% satisfied. I would only have been happier if Ra Ra Riot played "You and I." Or if I went home with a band member...

Ra Ra Riot puts on a great show. The set list consisted of a great mix between their new songs off of "Beta Love" as well as some fan favorites. They took 2.5hours after doors opened to show up on stage. Their performance was good, but nothing worth that wait. The first opener 'Yellow Ostrich' was fantastic, but the second opener played their pointless songs like a band of apes. I was exhausted by the end of the second set, and the crowd proceeded to wait another 40 minutes for Ra Ra Riot to decide to begin their show. They gave a good show, but it was not worth enduring the second opener and extended wait.

I highly recommend seeing Ra Ra Riot in concert! I feel as if you don't get the same energy by simply listening to their tracks. I was somewhat surprised by how energetic their performance was. Wes Miles really got the crowd going and was even a great sport after many kids (I assume most were Boston University students since it is the Paradise Rock Club) decided to run up stage and mosh pit. There was even one instance, during Ra Ra Riot's very popular "Boy", where a kid ran up stage and danced around for a while until security had to come up and escort him off. This kid did not want to be escorted off of course so he tried to get away from security, but then bumped into the violinist Rebecca Zeller and knocked out her cord and broke one of her bow strings in the process. Of course after this incident no one dared to go up on stage during the next songs. I do applaud Ra Ra Riot for being such a good sport about it all and even laughing during some of these moments. I do not see Ra Ra Riot's music as the kind of music that would encourage mosh-pitting so to me it was a little odd. Other than that it was a phenomenal concert. As an avid listener I was very satisfied with their tracklist for the show. They performed all their great hits from "Boy" to "Ghost Under Rocks" to "Shadowcasting" and more; and of course they started off the show with "Massachusetts". I was even happy to see them perform "You and I", sung by the beautiful Alexandra Lawn. It was a excellent show overall. I was not really impressed by the opening acts, but that is a very minor issue since I was there to see Ra Ra Riot who I really enjoy and hope to see in concert again in the future :)

This is the 2nd time I've seen Ra Ra Riot in the last 6 months. They are great live band. All of their songs translate perfectly to live performances and lead singer Wes' voice sounds incredible. The violin and cello give the band such a complete sound and cellist Alexandra is the hottest girl in indie rock. The only disappointing thing is that more people didn't turn out to see such a great band at such a great price. Oh well, their loss. I'll enjoy seeing them at small clubs before their inevitable move larger, less intimate venues.

Ra Ra Riot has been one of my top 2 favorite bands for a very long time, but after seeing them live they have definitely become my favorite. They put on such a great show and their music sounds just as good live as it does on their albums, just better and louder. I would love to see them in concert again. The only thing that brings this review down to 4 stars is the fact that the seating arrangement was annoying because there were no seats, only standing area and a small bar upstairs with a few stools which were usually taken by people drinking. Ticket master said the concert started at 7 but they didn't even open the doors until 7:30 and the opening band didn't start playing until about 8:30. After they were done we had to stand and wait another 30-45 minutes until Ra Ra Riot finally came out on stage. We ended up leaving early because our feet hurt so bad from standing so long. Aside from location of the concert, Ra Ra Riot totally deserves 5 Stars and would recommend everyone to see them!
