Despite a supporting act including what seemed to be a hobbit being paraded on someone's shoulders in malaria netting, the School of the Seven Bells was phenomenal in energy, in setlist, and transporting the audience to a very happy place.

Having been wowed by School of Seven Bells once before at The Paradise in Boston, I was very eager to see them again at Brighton Music Hall. Their set at The Paradise was a sonic and visual feast. Not so this time around. SVIIB performed in near total darkness on a stage illuminated solely by two LED displays that mimicked the interlocking rings on the cover of their latest CD Ghostory. The sound was deafening even with ear protection. The music was played in workmanlike fashion. No passion or energy. They may as well have been miming to backing tracks\u2014it was so dark you literally couldn't tell who was doing what. Disappointing.

S7B is a small enough band that they are still playing smaller clubs and this is great for fans. They put on an engrossing and really flawless performance. The combination of visuals and layered sound was just great. I think they could have ended on a more upbeat note, but older fans probably appreciate the rather complete set. Highly recommended!

Great show and really glad we got to see them in such a small venue. The stage was certainly cramped, but SVII made due. Their sound was dead on (to be fair they do use a good amount of pre-recorded sound) and the setlist was great. I do wish they closed on a more upbeat tune, but long-time SVII fans would appreciate the encore. Catch their show if you can!

Well aren't I so incredibly glad to have seen them - their music sounded so much better live. Wish they got a little more energetic on stage (getting crowd to clap hands or something)- think it would have made the crowd get in the groove. I was feelin' it - wanted to bop around more. Voices sounded great, drumming awesome- they make a super combo- you won't regret going!

Claudia wasn't even there, which would be fine had I known beforehand. I definitely wouldn't have bought tickets and gone to see the show if I knew that only Benjamin and Alejandra (singing only her part, which is often just harmony). Big letdown.
