It would have to proven to me that there exist a better venue that the Bijou to appreciate the talent and music of two formidable groups as we saw in Knoxville this past Sunday night. Their musical depth was very refreshing to experience! A must see!!

This was my third time seeing Blitzen Trapper and their performance eclipsed the other two concerts completely. The overall atmosphere of the singer/songwriter session greatly enhanced the feeling and meaning of their songs. Even beyond that, it turns out (unsurprisingly) that these guys are absolutely charming and this performance gave them the opportunity to show it.

This is the second time I have seen Blitzen Trapper perform live-- and I have never been disappointed! First of all, their music is thoughtful and fun! But additionally they have a stage presence that is casual and friendly which makes it feel like you're hanging out watching your friends jam. And they attract a crowd that is likewise fun, friendly, and happy. I will continue going to their shows whenever I'm able. A+. Also, the opening act, Quiet Life, was very good. I bought a download card and have been enjoying it.

Excellent live show! All band members were tremendous musicians who showed energy and interest in what they were doing. They sounded fantastic, and covered a good amount of past, present, and future material.

Blitzen Trapper was PHENOMENAL. As artists, they are incredibly talented and it's always cool to see a group with such a high level of skill and musicality perform live. I was so impressed with the fact that each member of the band played multiple instruments throughout the show with no diva tendencies, even when put on the tambourine! Not to mention, their harmonies were incredibly tight and never faltered. The lead singer, when he did a mini-set of solo pieces in the middle of the show... mind blowing; that boy can sing like none other. And, of course, as a folk junkie, you've got to love the harmonica! The stage personalities were great, the show was pretty much non-stop music, they had a great mix of new music and favorites from previous albums, and their high energy made the show that much better. Not to mention, ending a show on a Tuesday night with Sleepytime in the Western World was ever-so-appropriate. Over all, even though a big fan before, I was super impressed with their live performance. I will definitely be seeing them next time they're anywhere near me!

Blitzen Trapper just seemed like they were having the greatest time playing the show for all of us. And, their sound is so much bigger and grander than I expected. Quite enjoyable!

Blitzen Trapper was phenomenal at the Crystal Ballroom!!! Love the bouncy floors of the venue, and LOVED how the band continuously ROCKED HARD! The lead singer was such a trooper for the fans, performing virtually nonstop the duration of the show, even when the other band members took a break (which I'm sure they needed, not criticizing here!). Overall I was blown away by their great performance, lively & friendly demeanor, and overall fantastic showmanship.

Amazing band, amazing show, amazing venue, didn't like the divider down the middle of the room, but it kept the kiddies away from the booze.

The concert was so amazing. Honestly, I only knew their Furr album but even the songs I didn't know, I enjoyed every second of. While concerts like MGMT, some parts I was just there. But at Blitzen Trapper every moment was engaging. and all the band members were very enerjectic and i coudl tell they cared about the audience. i think they are underrated, definately should of been sold out. but they are a new band, but they will be very big someday.

This venue was really good, I knew Blitzen Trapper and was familiar with their work, but I didn't really know too much about the Moondoggies. Needless to say, I was impressed with the Moondoggies and Blitzen Trapper was really good.

The show was great! The venue was fantastic. Love the El Rey! These guys are even better live. The music is mixed a bit differently, so a noticable difference from the album.

This group is well worth the time and money to go see! Their vocals are terrific with harmonies interweaving with the guitars, piano and harmonica. The songs are well written and the music well played. Although there was a few equipment snafus, the band dealt with it with humor and good will. I would definitely go back to see them!

Eric Earley and his bandmates showered Webster Hall with sweet melodies and great energy. Early's musical talents were on vivid display as he moved gracefully from guitar to keyboards to harmonica, sometimes doing all three at the same time. Without trying too hard Early is able to make his songs evocative and whimsical. The band clearly is in sync and tight. The set spanned new and old stuff. Furr could have rocked a bit more but otherwise the show was fantastic.

I was hoping for a few more songs from Wild Mountain Nation, but I definitely enjoyed the show. I really enjoy their style, and loved the harmonica skills.

This was probably the BEST concert I've ever been to. The band was fun, personable, and rocked out in a way most heavy metal bands can't. (Not to mention half their gear had been ruined by Sandy, they still managed to play for over two hours with two separate encours.

Great show, great band. They played a huge set with all of your favorites and some hidden gems. Amazing performance all around. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, fully epic.

These guys play some of the best live rock and roll out there. They never fail to disappoint. The songs off the new album, American Goldwing, take on a vitality live that isn't as noticeable on record. They also did a great job of alternating between their softer country-rock side and their harder, more rocking stuff. Awesome show, you should go see them if they are anywhere close to you. One word of warning - the sound quality at the Deluxe SUCKS. Crackling PA speakers, muddy instruments, vocals too low in the mix. Not sure if it's the room or the soundman.

the show was bad ass. i would recommend blitzen trapper to anyone. one of the best parts of the show was the venue. the Amber room was small but beautiful and you could get right up close to the band who were very personable between the songs. not only would i not hesitate to see blitzen trapper again. i will jump at any chance to see my favorite bands in the Amber room. The Murote should use that room more often.

Wasn't sure how this show was going to turn out at first. I thought the small crowd might result in a low energy performance and then wondered where this show was going when Blitzen Trapper played Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe" for their second song of the night. However, I quickly found that my concerns were unfounded. These guys rocked the place! They played their popular acoustic/softer songs like "Furr", "Lady on the Water", etc., but the majority of their set list was the best of their rock, so a lot of their best songs from their "Furr" and "Goldwing" albums. The result was a rocking good time! These guys are really talented musicians and it was impressive to see them switch back and forth between their various instruments...guitar, synth, harmonica, and keyboard to name a few. It was definitely worth seeing these musicians!

I am so biased....I love Blitzen Trapper. I wanted to go to see them for the sake of seeing a band (something that I never do, in fact I dislike live shows) but I really love this band. Well the venue was excellent: kind ticket takers, kind bartenders, the lady selling the merch was super nice. The crowd was fine, not empty but not packed (thank goodness.) And the band- AMAZING- they were so into what they were playing, I felt like they were really enjoying themselves, not just doing a another show on the tour. The music sounded fantastic- I wish I could have a recording.

I am a huge fan of Blitzen Trappers folksy/acoustic music and wish they would have played more of it and less of their harder rock and roll. I will go see them again and if any other fans out there feel they way I do, please write reviews. It might improve their shows and make them a more successful band.

What a fantastic night! The venue - great as always... intimate with big sound... it doesn't get any better! Blitzen Trapper rocked it out and entertained the crowd with their full range of musical creativity ranging from country to rock and everything in between and beyond... And Dawes... well they were absolutely amazing as expected! What beautiful and fun vocal and musical arrangements they have created! Can't wait to see both of these bands again.

The Belle Brigade was a revelation. Loved their energy. They were obviously loving each other and their music reflected it. Absolutely infectious performance and can't wait to see and hear more from them. Dawes was simply fantastic. An amazing live performance. Wonderful performers all and they had the crowd seriously revved up. Can't wait to see them live again. Blitzen Trapper was a mixed bag. At times, they seemed bored and as is they were doing the audience a favor just by showing up. The crowd was clearly not as into their performance as they were with The Belle Brigade and Dawes. The songs from the most recent record (American Goldwing) came across better than their older catalogue. They seemed to be going through the motions on those older tunes and were playing over each other with little regard for the overall effect. I would have given 5 stars to The Belle Brigage and Dawes but Blitzen Trapper's performance was 3 at best and brought this down to a 4 in my opinion.

It was an awesome concert. The venue was pretty good except the pit area was on a raised platform which didn't make a lot of sense because if you weren't on it you couldn't see but other than that it was great.

I expected the show to be cool and laid back but they really rocked out! Their amazing songwriting and use of multiple instruments really shone for their live set. They were funny and gracious and there was a satisfactory amount of cowbell!

Fabulous show!!! I've been trying to see these guys for the last three years and it was better than I hoped for. The tempo on all of their songs, particularly Black River Killer, was sped up perfectly. I loved the show and the diversity of their playlist. Also, their new songs were much harder...totally dug it. Can't wait for new album.
