Joshua James is one of the most compelling artists I have ever seen. He is so consumed and possessed by the music he plays that it's haunting to watch. He brings the full weight of his recorded albums to the stage with his incredible band and brings the crowd to new levels of high and low. His bass player, Isaac Russell, opened the show with a dramatic solo set which drew the crowd into the performance and the atmosphere, setting the stage for James, who connected with the crowd on every level. I would highly recommend both his live show and his albums to anyone I meet, and I routinely do so.

I am not sure how Joshua is not a household name, but in some ways, I like that as it allows for shows where his talent is truly showcased and not lost in a large venue. His voice is unique and moving and his performances reflect his strong passion for his music. I think he brings something to the music world that is uncommon and beautiful in ways words cannot describe. I am grateful.

Great show. The group has great chemistry together. Have seen them several times, just as a duo, but the addition of the bassist and drummer has definitely given their music more of rock sound. Realy liked the extra edge to their live performance.

I have attended two Joshua James' concerts in Virginia -- one at the Attucks Theater in Norfolk and another at the Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach. Joshua James has an incredible depth of soul and passion that is evident in his music. With every song, I am moved by the emotion and the universal themes of family, friendship, love, and pain. His voice is truly haunting and powerful at once. Unlike any other artist that I have heard. I recommend his concerts whenever you have the opportunity.

Amazing performer, intensity in every song. Hadn't heard his newest stuff until the show and it was great. Loved the Tom Waits cover at the end.

Joshua James is an amazing artist that blends the talents of his band with his own unique style, captivating lyrics, and genuine passion for his music. Every music lover should take the time to see him live. The opening acts were also excellently paired with the headliner in terms of talent and tenor. Parlor Hawk blended gripping lyrics and haunting sounds to create a genuine connection with the audience that will bring me back the next time they come to town. Hannah, an Ann Arbor based artist, showed that her amazing talents for song writing and instrumental work are only out-shined by her beautiful voice. I hope she finds a successful future in this industry.
