The set was a few minutes shy of a full hour and he only played 3 songs from Year of Hibernation, but the live instrumentation was simply amazing & completely worth it. Added a whole other dimension to his music.

Roused my energy levels on a low fueled Monday night to head out and see youth lagoon at rough trade in Brooklyn. Having listened to their first album on repeat Saturday mornings, I was very excited to see them in the act. Put simply, they were exceptional. Playing all of the older hits, slowly building up to a crashing tempo later on, each song was as mesmerizing as the last. Highlight of the gig had to be when Trevor et al joined a few lingering louts at the bar for a chin wag after the show. That or the proceeding piggy back around the dance floor! Those bouncers certainly earned their Bread that night. Thanks Youth Lagoon for a giving us a Monday to remember

Great event. Wait for Youth Lagoon was a tad long. Other than that it was a good event.

The opener band was strange, but the music was ok. Way too much time spent between acts (40+ min) - meanwhile, creepy piano interlude music played. Youth Lagoon sounded fine, although they were a little awkward and seemed like they would rather be at the Flux Pavillion rave upstairs. We left early.

I don't normally bother to write ticketmaster reviews, but I was so impressed by Youth Lagoon I decided to make an exception. Don't pay any attention to older reviews that question their live showmanship, they have apparently honed their craft quite substantially since their first shows. This is my first time seeing them, and other reviews on ticketmaster were mixed, so I didn't know what to expect going in. Since I loved Year of HIbernation and really enjoyed Wondrous Bughouse, I decided to give it a go. I was absolutely blown away. The band played really tight, and the sound was excellent. I was worried that Trevor's vocals would be lost in the mix, but they were spot on. One of the things I love most about Youth Lagoon is their ability to shift from quiet, intimate moments, to bass-heavy hooks. This contrast was really powerful live, where you could feel the bass moving through you. I was also surprised at how much sound they could make with only four people. A lot of the Wondrous Bughouse material has a lot of layers, and they were all there, as far as I could tell, in the live show. Overall, if you enjoy dynamic, hook laden psychedelia, I would really recommend catching this tour. I have a feeling this band will be graduating to larger venues in the coming years, and this is a great chance to catch them as part of a smaller crowd, where the sounds can really wash over you.

The acoustics at Sinclair facililated some of the awesome songs Youth Lagoon played. It was an amazing concert. Even the opening act "Pure X" were great.

Before this concert, I thought of Youth Lagoon as a head phones kind of band. But Trevor Powers performance was inspiring. He was defiant and loud and on key. The show is in my top five favorite concert experiences.

One of the better live group I've seen. The recordings don't do them justice.

This was a big stage concert at a small venue. I think they could be huge. Loved that they had a full bassist and drummer at this set.

I have been waiting to see this show since I heard the first song from his first album ~12-14 months. I was sooo disappointed with his live performance, the song choice, the way he changed some of the songs from the first album... etc. Overall, I'd say skip this show. I wasn't the only one that felt this way. After they played the encore song (July) someone from the crowd yelled out "I dare you to play that whole album!" IF you reaaaaly like the second album then go see the show because he played about 80% from the new album.

Trevor Powers did an awesome job on stage Tuesday night. Great mix of the new album with his debut. Overall, loved the show.

All three bands were likable but the base was a bit too high.

Like Youth Lagoon's debut album, their live show keeps it pretty simple. Trevor Powers on piano and vocals, Logan Hyde on guitar, and a soundboard. No mas. On November 14, 2011, Youth Lagoon played at the small, intimate Mercury Lounge in New York City. At 11:05 p.m., strolling on stage calmly in a ragged shirt and baseball cap, Trevor sat at his piano, said a quick hello, and began the show with Posters, one of the stronger songs on Youth Lagoon's debut album, The Year of Hibernation. This was a great show that maintained the tone and quality of the album, and the setting matched the emotion perfectly. The only light for the show was provided by two red lightbulbs and three lights planted in the ceiling, creating an intimate vibe, a private show for Youth Lagoon's closest friends. Whatever electronics Youth Lagoon used during the show, it worked, creating an ethereal sound that, combined with the red lighting, felt like the show was taking place in a dark cave. Unlike the album, where Trevor's vocals never overpower the music, his voice in concert dominated. While he strained through each track (he told the crowd he had a sore throat...and that he was hopped up on cough syrup), he kept perfect pitch and sang with despair and affection. Overall, the songs were more upbeat and uptempo live than on the album; maybe it was his voice, or the electric guitar which also had more prominence live than on the album. Either way, you felt the emotion of songs live and the two men alone on stage only amplified the feelings of loneliness and isolation that so many of the songs are centered on.
