I've only been to a few concerts in my life. But I can proudly say that by the time Papa Roach fininished, I had finally lost my voice. What a totally stellar experience I had and with some amazing friends too.

I have now been to four Rockfest events and each one has been well worth the price of admission. The bands are almost always fantastic and even though the crowd can get crazy there is plenty of room at Liberty Memorial to satisfy a large variety of concert goers. Whether you want to pull out a blanket and listen from afar or be right in the pit surfing and moshing, Rockfest is the annual event you should at least make once. Being outdoor, the weather can often times be a pain in the ass, like 2010's Mudfest, but if you come prepared and are devoted to the music, you won't have a problem.

Like any other hard-rocking concert, so long as you stay out of the fray, a great time is had by all. The even is reasonably priced especially if you get the tickets early, the food was reasonably priced ($5 and under, including adult beverages), and the people had a great time without the anarchy... not the best place for the kids by any stretch due to adult antics, but totally worth it. Way to go KC!

I love rockfest! I just wish I could go every year. I think the Johnny On The Spot should be closer to the main stage. I also think that there should be other types of beer for example bud light but I really liked the blueberry smirnoff vodka with the sunkist lemonade! This needs to be there EVERY YEAR!! Missed Shinedown and want to see Seether there one year.

Venue and Fans awesome as always. Sound was pretty poor quality on the Main Stage this year. This was my 6th Rockfest and I would have to say it was the only one that left me disapointed in the sound department and also thinking the headliner (Disturbed) should of played longer. They did not even do an encore performance. I will definately give it a go again next year. It is in my blood. AWESOME time.

I was a Rockfest Virgin so everything was new to me! I loved every second of it from the 1st roar of the crowd to the porta-potty to the last firework! I plan of going next year every band was great and had energy! the people came alive and it was like a huge fist pumping in the air all at once! Best show I've ever been too!

All the bands rocked KC. Rockfest rocked!! However, the mainstage should have been where the 2nd stage was. There was more room for people to view the 2nd stage vs the mainstage. Also, trash cans placed strategically around the grounds would have saved a lot for the cleaning crews. Personally, I got tired of stepping on all that trash. But from what I could tell, I'm not sure if trash cans would be of help with that particular crowd. Once again, the bands were absolutely amazing. Loved it!!!!

Rockfest used to be amazing...I guess for the money it still is worth it. BUT...55,000 is way too many people. The crowds are getting stupid and don't know how to properly mosh or crowd surf. You literally have no room to stand let alone sit down and take a break and enjoy the atmosphere. And having it in early May is a bad idea, rainy last year, cold this year...move it back to June or at least close to it. And your sound people this year had no idea what they were doing....second stage sound was terrible and main stage sound was very lacking. Good things: great bands (even with crappy sound), plenty of bathrooms, quick beer lines

I enjoyed the whole experience. I got to hang out with friends and Family and hear great music throughout the whole day. Everyone in the stands were very positive and helpful with what ever you needed. I loved that everything was below $5.00. I was able to afford food and drink and still have some money left at the end of the day It was well worth the money. Favorite moments: The National Anthem, I Loved the feeling on honor for our country in the crowd "U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. "!!!! Also the sound of 55,000 people cheering when the Sun came out midday was to cool. You could feel the roar of applause anywhere in the grounds.

The lineup was great. But if only they would change venues to the racetrack in KCK or something. Between parking, mud, (which made this show hell) and no place to take a break and sit, it made it very difficult to actually enjoy the show. Which is the whole purpose of going. I get that this is a festival, but there are so many better options in this area than holding 50k+ people in the middle of a park that is located downtown in a very populated city where parking is crazy on a normal day.

I will never go to this event again and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone. Even though we arrived an hour before the gates opened, we stood in line for over 2 hours and completely missed the first band. We thought we were prepared for all the mud, but there is no way to prepare for that. There was literally no place to sit in the entire venue. The event sold roughly 52,000 tickets and yet there were only about 19 port-a-potties. I waited in line for an hour to use the toilet and missed yet another band.

Both stages should have screens on both sides of where the band is playing. For an event with so many people, need better visibility from far away. The sound system wasn't that great. I was fairly close for Halestorm, but it sounded distorted. More screens should be set-up all throughout the venue. It was just too many people for how it was set-up this year, disappointed that I couldn't see the bands better. Should have more big screens so you don't have to be so packed in all the time. It gets old fighting the constant stream of people who insist on pushing past you when you've waited so long to get a prime place.

I loved every band that I was able to see! Unfortunately we missed the first two bands due to the endlessly long line. 50k people and you only have one entrance!? I can understand opening a bit later to lay down mulch, but come on! Another complaint I have is why wasn't any mulch laid down on the hill to give everyone an easier path to the porta-johns? The only non-uphill path to the johns were like LA traffic. There were enough positives to make it a 3-star, though. The bands this year were all solid; phenomenal job there! There were also a lot of good food and drink options at a pretty good price. The porta-johns were also pretty well maintained considering just how bad the weather was and how much use they saw. A good time, but please work on trying to expedite that line (especially if you're going to open them late).

I have never been to a concert where there were so many unbelievably rude people. The mud was completely disgusting & the set up overall of the venue was awful. It's sad that so many great bands had to play in the Liberty Memorial Pit. Rob Zombie, Volbeat, Halestorm, but as a fan I gotta say this place sucks. Complete and utter mud pit from all the rain just made it worse. I don't know how many people were there, but it was too many. You couldn't get close to anything. Over long lines to the mobile toilets, beer lines. Miserable. Although the mud was a big part of why I hated the event, I have to say if it was dry its not an ideal spot for a huge rockfest. Downtown, traffic, expensive parking, long walk to the event. No thanks. Rather go to the smaller events with more space. Too many trees and too many monitors. I didn't go to watch Rob Zombie on a TV screen. I can do that at home for free.

This was my first time to the Rockfest festival. I have been to a lot of 3 day festivals but non were ever as muddy as this one. I think the it would have been enjoyable if it would'nt have been so muddy. They could have had a better layout for the stages and the sound and lighting for Rob Zombie on the main stage just sucked. But you can beat the price of $37.50 so I will probably have to give it a second chance.

Halestorm, Papa Roach and All That Remains were excellent. Was disappointed in the fact that the park didn't put down more mulch to hopefully prevent a lot of the mud near concessions behind the Monster main stage. It was a lot of fun, but the mud put a damper on things.

The show was amazing. They're are only a couple things that keep it from getting 5 Stars. one is to many people you could hardly walk around with out bumping into someone. the second thing was all the mud which made it even more difficult to walk around the overly crowded event.

The bands were amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed all the shows and especially getting to hang out in the Monster Energy trailer. The only pit fall (and a HUGE one) was that who ever organized the show thought that 20 porta-potties in the middle of a mud hole would be enough access for 10,000 people... Didn't quite do the job. People were actually charging others to use the bathroom behind a held up blanket. Would've easily been a 10 star show if not for that one HUGE oversight!

This was the first time I went to Rock fest. I loved it! The singers would interact with the crowd and loved the crowd surfers. I am a huge papa roach fan so when he played some of his older songs I went crazy! However, there were some things I didn't like. The pot. It seemed like everyone near me was smoking a joint. The mud. They need to put mulch everywhere, not just by the stage. Overall , I loved it and will try to return next year!

Tech N9ne was of course AMAZING! And same with Otherwise. However, even though the bands were awesome, something different needs to be done with how the bathrooms are set up. Instead of having all of them in one spot- the furthest away from the stages- there needs to be multiple locations for them. It would be a lot easier and quicker to go to the bathroom and run back to whichever stage you want to be at next, if it didn't take 30 mins to walk through all of the people- and the ridiculous amount of mud, which did not have enough mulch put down on it this year, to be honest. Because it took so long to get to the bathrooms, I was only able to see one out of the 15 bands close-up, and that was Otherwise. Other than that I had to basically barely listen to the other bands, because the further away you get from the stages, the harder it is to hear or understand which song is playing. It would be a lot better if there were more speakers randomly placed throughout the park, instead of just at the stages.

Unfortunately it rained this year and there wasn't much precaution made for it. All the bands were very good but the main stage was set up terribly if you were over 30 feet from the stage you couldn't see or hear at all. The second stage was setup very well it was on a slight hill so even if you were all the way in back you could still see and hear very well. I took my dad with me who is 50 and he has bad knees and there were no seats anywhere not even a small seating area off to the side of anything so your choices we're stand or sit in mud

Rockfest is always the best rock event of the year. Great line up, great venue, nothing like an open air rock festival. Despite the hard, mud creating rain shower early in the afternoon, it was a perfect day to listen to music and enjoy the company of 55,000 of the best rock fans in the county. Even with the stopping of the music for Arron Lewis to get some of the crowd in check, it was mainly a fun filled drama free day.

For anyone who has an open mind, a love of music, and an adventurous spirit then Rock Fest is for you. This year is was sunny, rainy, muddy, hot and cold. The music was loud and a lot of the people there were drunk, high or both. But that was the fun of it. Pushing through the crowd, or just moving with the crowd if you go you have to go with an open and relaxed mind set. I don't drink or smoke and not all of the bands were my favorites but my 15 year twin girls wanted to see Korn, Staind and Five Finger Death Punch. One thing I will not do is let 15 year old twin girls go alone. It is not for children but it is a good place to take your teenagers to give them that rock concert experience we all remember getting when we were their age. I had the most fun just watching the people! And there were all kinds of people. I saw people dressed up in costumes and people wearing barely anything. But I also did not see any fighting, bullying or people being rude. Everybody was relaxed and just having a good time. If there was any problems you could find a police officer or an event security staff within a couple of minutes. All in all myself and my family had a great time and if they have bands we want to see next year we will go again. You can not beat the price and I want to say thank you to all of the bands who came and played. We can not afford to see each of these bands individually and getting to see all of them for the low Rock a holic price is worth every penny!! So again anybody who is thinking of going next year and has never been before, remember is not just an even...it is an eventure!! peace and love kckatt

I liked the location, lots of trees for shade! However, what I did not like was that the Porta Pottys were only along one side, by the second stage. Would like to see some lined near each stage. Trash was everywhere and I believe that's because you could not find trash cans unless you were near the food vendors. Only one water station and again it was near the second stage, would like to see one by each stage. Once the show was over there was literally only one exit. 55,000 people herded like cattle to get through a very small exit. You could feel the people from behind just trying to push there way up, it was not good. All in all though I would go back and had a great time!

overall kansas city is a poor rock town. It is bad when Dayton Ohio puts on a better concert with just three bands. I guess I am spoiled, being used to going to the concerts in Detroit. I found myself bored for the majority of the time. Seems like only the ugly girls from around KC came to rockfest. If Device was not there i would have felt robbed. I loved watching Halestorm... but they had their show on a stage you couldn't see anything unless you were 6'7". The main stage was in such a horrible spot. The hill should be around the stage. Not the stage right on top of the hill, because if you're not the tallest there then you aren't seeing really much at all. I would pay for it again depending on who is playing. But I am definitely going to spend the time and money to make it to DTE in Detroit where the real rockers go!

Halestorm and Voltbeat were AMAZING!!! The alcohol beer & water were poor quality and way over priced but that's to be expected. My group had a great time and the bands really have it their all to make sure we got our money's worth!!!

There is no other event like KC's ROCKFEST and no other radio station like 98.9 The Rock. And that's all I have to say about that.

We didn't show up right away, however, we did make it in the front row and stayed all the way through FFDP. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go this year until I saw Chevelle, Slash, and FFDP. All in all it was a good concert.

I love Rockfest, between the hard core music and the bada$$ people its like Christma or my birthday...I look forward to it every year and regardless of the lineup I know it will be great!! Five Finger Death Punch was amazing!!..............................on another note Chevelle owes KC a show!! EVERYONE needs to go to Rockfest its the greatest, not for the weak but for the hard core!! :D

I drove to Kansas City from the Chicagoland area. Weather was Perfect, Band were awesome. There was a major problem with POWER on the main stage for Chevelle. They did restart 3 times. Other than that, PERFECT day !! No long wait for food, No long wait for CLEAN Porta-Potty's.... I will RETURN TO ROCKFEST

Another unbelievable experience at my favorite concert of the year! I've been 5 times now and have yet to be disappointed! Only downfall this year was the sound on the main stage. Actually left early on Shinedown, who I love, because the sound was terrible unless you were right up front. Can't wait till next year!! Starting to like the 2nd stage better so keep putting kickass bands like Volbeat & Hellyeah there!

This was my 3rd year going to Rockfest and like in the past, it was absolutely amazing! I was a little bummed that they were not giving away free cigs again but it's all good. The bands were great and the crowd was great. It is always fun to people watch there as well. I will be going for years to come! Thank you The Rock!

There were extremely too many people and it was terribly muddy. I didn't even get to see In This Moment because we left before they performed. We left because being there was becoming too stressful and too overwhelming.

Rockfest was great but I wish we could get a break for one year and have a good weather day! Volbeat, Papa Roach and Halestorm were great. Disappointed that Rob Zombie didn't bring the big show! Not mad that Tech 9 was at Rockfest but I don't listen to rap music. Gave it a listen but not for me. Nice story that he is from KC and is gaining in popularity. So I guess next year we are going to have a country band at Rockfest! Move the date back to June! I know what the promoters are trying to do by having it in May so it doesn't get so hot. But let's be honest... since they have started doing it in May there has MAYBE been 1 year that was a descent day. I'm a little tired of walking through ankle deep mud to get food and drink! The DJ's and staff will never admit it because they are high and dry. Their response will be everyone has a great time out there and I do. But is would be so much better if it was DRY and SUNNY! Let's be honest May just hasn't worked!

The concert itself was amazing! In This Moment was a little disappointing with all the smoke on stage. The only thing I can think of to better this place would be the bathroom situation. Leave the porta Lotty's for the girls... Men can go in troughs.

Ive been to the last 5 Rockfests. This year may be my last one. At least until they put different bands in the mix. I'm sick of seeing papa Roach every other year. Volbeat puts on an amazing show, along with Nothing More and All That Remains. But two of these bands had barely any stage time and that disappoints me. Tech N9ne SHOULD have gotten more time. Papa Roach was on stage forever it seemed like.

Rockfest again did not disappoint as far as the music. I like the venue, but unfortunately because of all the rain from days before, it turn again into a muddy mess. Looking forward to next year Rockfest and hopefully sunny, warmer weather.

Sound for the main stage is only good if you are standing in front of it. Anything to the side of the stage gives you poor sound. It was almost impossible to see all the bands as there was no time between bands to walk to the opposite stage. I am very disappointed. Next year they need at least 15 minutes lag time between bands. Volbeat was awesome!

I understand that it has done great on the Grounds of the liberty memorial all these years, but the grounds have to keep spreading and spreading, and with the amount of rain we got this year it made it difficult to get around. Although in an overall standard it was great, i think they would do greater at a larger venue or area such as the speed way, which would allow not only more walking room and such it would add seating to relax and be able to take a break during those bands you don't care to see, also there you would not have to worry as much about mud or having to re-seed. But the fact was that i was upset that Pretty Wreckless wasn't there but i understand. Other than that one thing it was a pretty easy going year. loved the third stage.

1. Pretty Reckless cancelled because they didn't have a drummer. Really? 2. Rob Zombie didn't even bring his whole stage show. ??? 3. Rap at a heavy metal festival??? 4. Bathrooms for 50,000+ people only in one location - on a hill caked in mud where you wait for at least an hour to use one. 5.Johnson County people trying to get Missouri people to fund a playground for them. 6.Cigars, pot and enough smoke to give you lung cancer. I have been a long time Rockfest person but I don't know if I will go again because of this year. Very sad.
