Ximena and her band came out rocking and blew the roof off the Shelter!! The crowd was in high spirits and the band reveled in the love! If you love alternative music played expertly with passion, then this is the artist you crave to see live! Loved it!!!

Let me be clear, I am a huge fan of Ximena, and she did do an amazing job. The only problem is that the volume and audience prevented that quality from being communicated. Don't get me wrong I'm aware that concerts are mostly just for drunk people, but I have been to many shows at the House of Blues before with an appropriate level of bass and volume. In addition, the stage was too low, such that the performer could not be seen over the sea of smartphones being held up to record video. I should also point out that this concert was technically in the Bronze Peacock room and not the HOB main hall. Needless to say, the room was much more suited to a more intimate acoustic show (which Ximena's music should be) and not an earplug level volume with bone-crushing bass.

Ximena Sarinana was fantastic! She's a heartwarming performer with an energy that will not quit. Even with a swollen ankle, she showed enthusiasm and excitement in her performance. This is an artist I would definitely look forward to seeing again.

I love Ximena's music; as a matter of fact, my English-speaking, American boyfriend introduced me to her music back in 2008 when she released her first album. I fell in love with her music almost instantly. When I learned she was coming to Columbus (apparently it was her third visit to my city), I didn't hesitate and purchased tickets for the both of us. Honestly, neither of us liked her second album but we still wanted to go see her performing live. Her music sounded a lot better in person (and that's saying a lot about the way she sounded that night, considering that The Basement has really crappy acoustic). The only one thing I felt really disappointed about was the length of the show: 55 minutes. I understand we were a small crowd, but a paying and loyal crowd nonetheless. She skipped one song from the original playlist they intended to play that night (I found that out when I asked the guy who was tearing down the set up to give me the playlist left underneath the drums). I really couldn't believe it. She never came back to the stage even though the audience cheered (in Spanish) and asked for an encore. Who does that? I mean, 99% of artists usually have at least 2-3 songs up their sleeves to play as the encore. It wasn't that she didn't have any; I felt she just didn't care about the audience or about playing any longer for only the 40-50 people we were there for her that night.

The Duck Room @ Blueberry Hill is great for concerts. Ximena was great; very outgoing and personable. She made the concert very personal. Avalanche City was very good as well. In fact I would rate both as equal in talent.

It is a small and intimate venue. Even standing in the back you have a great view. Her voice is absolutely amazing. She sings with such power and conviction that it is absolutely mesmerizing to see her live. I loved the surprises along the way and the new songs are great songs. I hope to see her once again and every time she is in Los Angeles.

I wished she had started singing earlier since the concert was schedule for 8pm and she showed to the stage until almost 11pm. We had to be standing and by that time all I wanted to do is get out of there and find a chair.

It was obvious that her next album will be more electronic. I personally thought she reminded me of Bjork, which is not a bad thing. Although I was hoping for more actual instruments, I like where she is going next. I'll be sure to tune in and enjoy. That's it.
