Watain @ The Masquerade in Atlanta. Awesome experience. Black Anvil from NYC and Goatwhore from New Orleans opened the show. Both were amazing. The Masquerade did allow Watain to use all 12 rotting sheep heads. We were 2 feet away from the band on stage left, right beside Forsberg. The stench was so overwhelming at times I thought we were gonna pass out, but all was well. Do be warned tho: the rotten stench is VERY real and very powerful. You'll need to launder your clothes the next day. We got to meet Erik after the show, who was very gracious and kind. He signed my stuff and posed for pics with other fans. You may wanna keep a little distance tho. He reeked as bad as the sheep heads. Excellent show--very intense--very passionate--very real. Check it out.

Flew in from Detroit for this show, due to how much I enjoyed their show here a few weeks back. All 3 bands are awesome. Watain's backdrop was pretty darn cool as well.

This was my first time seeing Watain, Goatwhore, and Black Anvil. I knew I was going to have an amazing time, but these guys completely exceeded my expectations. All three bands had absolutely AMAZING stage presence, material, and were just overall amazing performers. We could smell Watains stage props from the moment we walked into the venue, and the closer the time came for them to perform....this worse the smell got. I had never experienced anything like this before, and to be honest....I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I CANNOT wait to see these guys again. I definitely will make it a point to see these guys whenever possible. GO see them!!

When the stage was being prepared for the final act of the evening - Watain - I knew it was going to be amazing. There were a few dozen candles placed atop ornate iron structures along with various chains, goblets, spikes, ... The fog machines, when combined with the candlelight and stage lights really helped convery the darkness and evil present in every note played through the ~1.5 hour set. Blasphemy at its best!

Sickest ever. The rotting flesh was a good little prop.

As I stepped into the Whisky I was hit by the intense stench of death. I notice everyone working there had their nose plugged with a wreched look on their faces. There were pigs head, goat heads and festering animal blood being used on stage that said... welcome to Black Metal! I got their late, caught the last four songs of Goatwhore and was impresed by what I heard. As they broke down their set, the Waitain road crew were quickly at work setting the stage what looked like a satanic ritual. Watain creeped onto the stage looking possesed. Torches were lit, the altar was adorned with a blood chalice and flickering candles, smoke bellowing from all angles as Watain began their ceremony of darkness. The sound, the smell of death, the imagery. Waitain quickly transported me into their world. A world of all things beautiful and dark, violent and shocking, mystic and damned. The singer "E" writhed and slithered like a demon posessed, channeling the voices from the eternal void as the rest of the band orchestrated a rite of passage to bring the inhabitants of the Whisky down to the land of fire and brimstone. Which in my opinion is something only few bands have the power to do, transporting the audience into another place world is a fine art, and Watain get's it. Over all I give this show 2 horns up! A fresh take on metal and a great band to see live. Hail Waitain!!!
