The Get Up Kids

The Get Up Kids

THE GET UP KIDS IN CONCERT:The Get Up Kids rose to fame in the mid-‘90s thanks to their powerful emo punk sound and adrenaline-filled live performances, and they remain just as emotionally rousing two decades later. Heavily distorted guitars, breakneck drums, and heart-on-sleeve lyrics are the order of business at any Get Up Kids show, and fans in the pit feed on the band’s infectious energy as they dance and sing along to anthems like “I’ll Catch You” and “Your Petty Pretty Things”. Frontman Matt Pryor is a commanding showman, alternating between passionate vocals and casual anecdotes delivered between songs. Whether they’re tearing through early favorites like “Ten Minutes” or performing cuts off 2011’s There Are Rules, The Get Up Kids always treat ticket buyers to enough punk energy and heartfelt sentiment to satisfy any diehard emo fan.

These guys sounded amazing. It was a twenty year anniversary tour and they managed to play everything ranging from their entire catalog. As most people hate when a band puts out a new album and plays the entire thing this wasn't the case. They played half of the album four minute mile and the majority of something to write home about. Braid the opener who was another pioneer of the 90's emo scene also killed it

The show was great. The first sound engineer @ this venue (for the first band) didn t seem to know what he was doing. The levels were all wack! He had it atleast 2 or 3x louder than ever needed.(louder than the headliners and all) Ppl were holding there ears through the set, -the ppl next to us, including myself. HOWEVER the Get Up Kids & the band that played right before them were great!! (New sound board engineer then) They played some good old stuff even. really worked with the crowd for a great overall show for their last night of tour!! :) Good times!!

Such a high-energy and fantastic performance. This was my first time seeing the Get Up Kids, though I've listened to their iconic album Something To Write Home About too many times to count. Their set was everything I could've hoped for: they didn't just play the album from start to finish; rather, they bounced around playing everything from some of their earlier material (Don't Hate Me, Stay Golden Ponyboy) to the classics (Ten Minutes, Holiday) to even b-sides I thought they recorded just for fun (Beer for Breakfast, Close to Me). All in all, a show I'm glad I didn't miss - if you have the chance to see them, take it!!

The Get Up Kids brought it. But on this night, BRAID just killed it! Man! Such a great show! And I t's very cool you took the time to personally visit with your fans. Hope to see these guys again before another 20 years passes. Ha! Braid also killed it on their merch table. CDs. LOs. EPs. Posters. Tshirts. Hoodies. (And their last sticker. Thanks, Bix)
