Remarkable performance from one of the most charismatic voices of the XXI century. A humble, talented, powerful, engaging Buika, connected with the public since her first smile.

Buika is without a doubt one of the best singers in the world today! Her concert at Town Hall was awesome. I've seen her several times (here and in Barcelona) and this one was one of her best shows... She was intense, funny, emotional and sensual and the audience was excellent as well...

Buika was all over the place in genres and seemed high or drunk. Far too many covers of music by others instead of her original work. Do we really need yet another rendition of Volver, Volver!!! Disappointing she did not sing La Falsa Moneda or Ojos Verdes. Mi Nina Lola made it to the encore. The encore was only for that single song! Some concerts turn you off an artist. This was such a concert for me. I had just discovered Buika and was excited about seeing her Jazzy Flamenco and great voice live. Instead, I got covers of Mexican oldies from an apparently inebriated artist. It is as if she is letting her management try what they think will make her a big hit in the Americas instead of finding her own identity as an artist.

Buika is an exceptional talent whose voice is like no other. Her live performance was easily one of the most moving, powerful and emotional rides I've ever taken. The only thing more enjoyable than her talent, and her talented band (including a special appearance by the equally talented Javier Limon) was her charming personality. She shared stories filled with honesty and humility that enhanced the entire evening.

extraordinary artist, diverse: Cuban, caribbean, but also the bolero, etc. of Chavela Vargas. What Buika is unparalleled at is flamenco, the modern flamenco song.

I saw Buika on Saturday night at the Berklee Performance center. When she came out and began to sing, the hair stood up on my arms and a chill went up my back. I'll never forget her performance.

Concha Buika can quite sing, but most of the time she prefers to scream. She is laughing all the time, mostly for no reason at all other that to camouflage her inability to dance and to inhabit the stage space. Her musicians are good and her voice is OK -- when, again, she doens't scream but sing, which is the case less than 50% of the time.

Concha Buika delivered a tour de force! Her comand of her craft was simply exquisite. The relationship with her team of musicians speak of well seasoned collaboration that allows for improvisation and support. This elegant arrangement, where the trust and skills of the performers is put to test, was evident thought out the evening. Concha's sensuality, seduces and intoxicates her audience by allowing. Herself to be vulnerable on stage. This is not be confused with the fact that she navigates through the show, somehow, remaining in control.

This was my first concert with Concha Buika and I was absolutely thrilled. I do not understand a word of Spanish, yet I was immediately drawn into the electric, sensual energy of this goddess and her musicians. Buika is beyond exquisite, and the love and excitement shown by her audience added to the beauty of this unforgettable concert.

What an amazing show. Completely different to any other BUIKA shows we have seen. BUIKA was passionate and sharing with her audience. She communicated all the time, AND sang. Her voice is like none other rich beyond belief. A humble, powerful woman, with an infectiocious smile. A subtle Cuban-Flamneco mix of amazing songs and honest communication with her audience. The banter between the artist and the audience was awesome. Concha Buika is a mesmerizing performer whose deep, deep emotions and humanity were revealed every minute on stage. Dynamite comes wrapped in small packages and she brings an honesty to her performance, a no-frills approach that is truly refreshing. Her music is the rare fusion of the sorrowful volatility of the old Spanish songs and flamenco \u2014 its pain and tragedy, endured and defied \u2014 suffused her music s multilayered rhythms and harmonies, that make the whole show simply POP. A night to remember, made complete with meeting her.

I enjoyed the performance but no comparison to her show last year - she held back for sure. Couldn't hear her over the musicians at some points. too much talking for show of that length and I didn't care for her attempts to sing in other languages. Still a fan but maybe just buy the cd's for now.

Having attended many live performances I have to say this was the most powerful one I've been to. Buika and her simple three man ensemble didn't leave anything to be desired in their recent performance; there was nothing simple about it. Weaving jazz, salsa, African rhythms and Latin ones with an overlay of flamenco--it all was so masterfully represented in this solo show. Classics newly remade seemed to breathe with a life all their own, given life by Buika's soulful voice. French, English and Spanish songs were represented, highlighting the global nature of this artist. A must show for those on the hunt for a soul-stirring, entertaining show. Brought the entire Town Hall to their feet! Would go again and again!

Concha Buika is not only a great singer with a beautiful and expressive voice, she's a great artist and actress as well. Her performance was so lively and interesting with various forms of artistic expressions (story telling, hand gestures, facial expressions, dances) to continuously entertain and to interact with her mesmerized audience. I love how it was a very intimate concert, within which you could feel the love exchanged between Buika and her devoted fans. Although I didn't understand Spanish, I could fully feel the emotions of the songs that she sang with all her heart and soul. It was very touching and at times I couldn't contain the tears from my eyes. To see Buika for the first time was definitely a special experience for me, my sister, my mom and a friend. We love Buika. Her humble yet powerful presence and singing touched my heart. The atmosphere was also very cozy and intimate. From the depth of her artistic talents, Buikia was able to create a space of feeling so special which made the entire experience a treasured memory. I would highly recommend Buika to everyone. I just wished they had her CDs for sale at the concert. Since she's new to me, I also wished I knew the titles of her songs because there were definitely some songs that really spoke to me, which I want to look for them later on.

Concha is a performer with such humanity that reaches out and grabs you from the moment she walks out on the stage. Her voice is powerful and vulnerable - she emits such emotion that you are likely to be choked up (like me). Her interpretations are original to be sure, and she combines flamenco and jazz like no other. This is one singular performer.

I saw her last year in concert and what a difference a year makes. Buika seemed not herself, as though she were high, and judging from eyes that could barely open, and that she screamed through the songs, it was clearly not the same quality performance as what I experienced last year. Add to that the terrible sound -- the backup band's mikes were way too high and her mike too low -- perhaps that why she felt she had to scream to be heard. I was so disappointed with her performance that I bought her cd for my guest so that he would be able to hear exactly what she would sound like were she not "impaired."

I've attended many a concert, but I've rarely witnessed an audience maintain almost complete silence during a song. I cannot recall the name of the song, but seriously, you could hear a pin drop. It's as if everyone had been holding their breath as she sang accapella. Here's the reason why--she sings with absolute passion. It's so heartfelt--that's the power of music. You may not understand the lyrics but feel their intention when sung with enough passion. She had passion in abundance--with each song. That's another rarity. She's magical because it appeared like the music was possessing her. That's what I love to witness at concerts--it's not enough to make me feel it but to see it affecting the artist too. I cannot wait to see her again! The YouTube clips of her performing are what made me promise to myself that I had to see her live. I can definitely attest that I was certainly not disappointed. If you get a chance to see her live, I highly recommend it.

Concha Buika's performance was well worth waiting for. I've been waiting since 11/12 when her Blue Note date was cancelled because there wasn't any power available due to hurricane Sandy. The passion in her voice makes each song so special and unique. The musicians who accompanied her were also amazing especially the piano player and percussionist providing the neccesary atmosphere. Her appearance was like beholding "Natures Child" in a lovely ivory silk dress embelished with gold in all the right places that was dragging on the floor. But Buika made being barefoot ssooooo elegant, so styleish because comfort was key to her. I loved her look, her persona, how cute her english sounded when she addressed the audience. At one frenzied moment there was chance of shouting out a requested favorite song and it became a conversation between performer and audience and many fans shouted their requests and love for Buika. She was humble and serene while at the same time was soaking in the love and energy offer by her fans . An unforgetable moment to witness her humility. She sang for 2hrs. after giving her fans an encore of 3 songs. Now that's generous for a singer who wanted to satisfy an adoring crowd and that she did. She did not disapoint the sofisticated fansof NewYork . I will be a fan for life!

The first time I heard and saw Buika, I thought that I had died and gone to heaven. Once you know Buika, all else seems pale. She is that force of nature that comes around once every hundred years. Her voice is such that it fills your whole being. She sings out of her every pore and from a very, very, very deep place in her soul. People have a very visceral obssession with Buika, it is as though she casts a deep and wide spell on all around her. You have to experience her to believe her. It is an indescribable experience that will never leave you.

I'm giving her 4 starts because she has an amazing voice! I was lucky to see her performed with Lila Downs, I was so anxious to hear her live and I was expecting for Buika to out performed Lila but she didn't. Why? Well she was talking a lot too! It is totally fine for the performer to have interaction with the crowd however it shouldn't take more than 30% of the Artist's performing time, Artist should focus on singing, singing, singing, specailly when you wait for years to see them perform live. Why do you think year after year Vicente Fernandez concerts sold out? Hopefully her manager gets to read the reviews, I'm defienty attending this concert and giving her another chance! I believe in you Buika don't disappoint me....

I had never heard of Concha Buika before I was invited to go to her concert with some friends. Where the heck have I been, not to have known about such a stunning vocalist....? In the wake of my ignorance, I am glad for the revelation. I suppose life is meant to continually open us to new suprises like this... Looking back on her work, I have alot of catching up to do. This concert was a good start. It's hard to remember when I was so moved by a performance. She came out unassuming, with a shyness that veiled the power she possesses. From the first notes I could tell there was an emotion packed into this slight woman that nothing could contain. And her smile - so charming - as were her spontaneous burst of flamenco dance. Her voice is like violet crumble - honecomb candy coated in chocolate. Her love of the music - captivating...the rawness of the delivery of songs pulled the emotion right from the audiens and gave her even more power. Definately an old soul in there. She sang her songs accompanied by guitar and cajon drum. Maestros on each; both talents mingled with hers. We were so enthralled we stayed for the second show...which we only found out we could attend at no cost as we were getting ready to leave. That brings me to the venue; the newly refurbished Howard Theatre. I will attend another show there but only because I know the lay of the land, now. Aspects of the Howard Theatre are less than impressive and newcomers should be forwarned. The front of house staff and their system for crowd control are somewhat militant and less than welcoming. I think they were all trained by TSA agents. Upon entering the theatre we told the host we had three in our party, one of us was en route. But we weren't allowed to sit down and save her a seat. Choosing to ignore this hefty inconvenience we took the opportunity to get a good table. The lad showing us to our seats also had two other people to seat and we lost him in the crowd. Not knowing what to do we found our own table and sat down next to each other. We were summarily instructed to sit across from each other in 'cabaret style' seating. Our friend arrived and went to the bathroom but we were accosted by secret service styled bouncers who wanted to know why we were saving a seat....It wasn't a pleasant beginning. But at least we had a place to sit...someone in line told us they had to stand for an entire concert without prior warning that they would be on their feet for two hours. The whole front-of-house, crowd control should be rethought. Nothing like paying $50 for a ticket to get treated so badly. Our friend arrived back at the table and we ordered wine and food - pricey but good even if the portions were rather small. Our server was amiable and thankfully so. It made us feel somewhat more welcomed. The saving grace was an apologetic and kind-hearted marketing manager and TWO fantastic shows for the price of one.... Buy this woman's records...you WON'T be disappoined.

Buika takes her craft to incredible heights on-stage. She will create new rhythms and soul-driven sounds in the middle of her already amazing tracks. The only person I've heard that can scream and make it sound utterly beautiful, with that unmatched smokey Afro-flamenco voice. Add the percussion artist and guitarist, and you have a master trio. This is not to be missed.
