Ben put on a good show but did not play enough of his most popular tunes. He committed what I think is a entertainer's faux pas: he played unfamiliar songs off a new album to promote the new album, but leaving fans without the great songs they paid and came to see him perform.

Although there was over a 30 minute wait between the opener and Ben, it was definitely worth the wait. He's probably one of the most passionate performers I've ever seen live.

Absolutely amazing show. Ben Harper, and the band, are hands down the most amazing musical artists I have seen live. It was unreal!

I had only heard of Ben Harper through my fiance. So when I found out he was playing near Chicago on my fiance's bday, I had to buy the tickets. Not only did he rock the show, but He even took a request from my fiance, who loved his version of Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye! He made my man's day and got one more fan in Me! Love, Love , Love Ben and the 7!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben Harper s voice was great as usual, and it was really cool to finally see him live. Harper was great; Relentless 7 I could ve done without. It seemed that the lead guitarist of R7 was more the center of attention than Harper was (WAY too many guitar solos on his part). I would definitely see Harper again, but not with this band. I will NOT, however, go to another concert at the NIU Convocation Center. The beer \u2018area was a small pen that could only hold 125 people at a time; you could not bring your drinks into the show. The seating on the floor was unnecessary; with the small amount of people that attended this show (only about 500), everyone could have easily stood/moved around/danced while enjoying the show instead of being confined to the space in front of your assigned folding chair. There was plenty of available stadium seating for those that wanted to sit and watch, but for those that prefer to move around a bit it wasn t cool. While the facility was newer and very clean, I didn t feel that it was rock concert friendly. The crowd was lame too- no one seemed excited to be there; not a very lively crowd, very weird vibe.

Non-stop entertainment for over 3 hours! Jaw dropping performance and "wow" factor all the way! Would recommend and would go see again! A true entertainer that engaged you like no other. His "new" band was amazing at every level; could not believe how in sync they were and played off each other. A must go see! You will not be disappointed.

I have seen Ben Harper several times before and in different venues. I saw him at HOB back in 2002(?). Every time I see Ben play, I am amazed at his ability, his versatility, and the way he connects with his audience. The Band was great as well.....all really good musicians in their own right. We were on the floor for the entire show. Back to back and belly to belly, dancing wtih 100 of our closest friends. HOB is the best venue e-v-a-r!

You gotta give it to the old man, he plays a mean guitar. Both standing up acoustic and sitting down electric, he's a master of his trade. Also an unbelievable performer, he really brought the crowd into the show and made you feel like you were jamming with him in his living room. After years of liking Ben Harper I finally made it to one of his shows... Now I just love him.

I've never seen as enthusiastic a performer as Ben Harper. Also, I never thought I'd like any of his bands better than I liked the Innocent Criminals, but Relentless 7 was unbelievable! They involved the crowd in the songs, he gave away some guitar picks and sliders, it was just a phenomenal show.

Wow. I saw BH in Miami 2 years ago but this was by far my favorite show. The venue has a really electric vibe: it's a small space where everyone can dance and sing. You could literally feel the emotions of the crowd ripping though the hall. Most songs came from his most recent album White Lies for Dark Times, powered by anguished lyrics, blues swagger and heavy guitar-powered rock. As always, he is a soulful vocalist, refreshing performer, and crisp musician. He performed fan favorites like 'Diamonds on the Inside', 'Walk Away' 'Another Lonely Day', and 'Pleasure and Pain' on solo acoustic guitar; this bare presentation showcased all of the things that make Ben Harper a singular artist: musicianship, tender lyrics, and emotional generosity. He played a few new songs from the album coming out in September, and just when I least expected it, he pulled out my all time favorite 'Amen Omen'-- can't wait to see him in Tampa again!

The concert did not start at the times represented. This is my only complaint. I figured the concert would end at 10pm or 10:30 the latest and Ben Harper didn't even start until 10pm. Also, the venue was VERY VERY cold!!!! Almost unbareable!

Worth the wait (they started at 10:20) after the opening band who were pretty good too. I have been to quite a few shows over my many years and this had to be one of the very best ever. The amount of talent each member of the band has was amazing. They played a wide genre of music from slow to fast with everything in between. These 4 guys were a very tight and well oiled machine. Very glad my wife and I went to the show.

Guster was great (am a big fan) and we also enjoyed Ben Harper and the crowd...first time seeing him. Had purchased seats under the cover and really wanted to see Guster up close but security wouldn't let us go down to the front to the standing area...but for Ben Harper they let everyone down front...would have loved to take my friends down front for Guster but box office wanted an additional 90 bucks for that! To stand....

I love Ben Harper, but the concernt seemed lack energy at times. When the crowd was supposed to cheer they did loudly, but there was never that moment that brought the crescendo. This is the second concert that I have seen at the ritz that i have been disappointed by so I think it may be partly the venue that governs this lack of intensity. just my 2 cents.

This show was incredible. About half of the songs were older and covers, which is so sick considering they just released a new album. They were loving the crowd and feeding off of us, pushing them to continue playing. Although I just started listening to Relentless7, I would recommend the show to anyone who appreciates an awesome live show and anyone who loves to watch Ben perform. Overall, it was one of Ben's best performances I've seen, and the band rocked.

There is no doubt that Ben Harper is an extremely talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player! His concerts are never short of that and the May 1st show was no exception. However, what was missed was the Ben Harper classics, which often include the soulful blues, gospel, jazz, and funky melodies. Instead, what the crowd got was hard rock and roll played with lots of guitar! The Innocent Criminals were surely missed, along with the djembe drum and deep bass tones. The socio-political side of Ben was also not present, but more of the wild "Hendrix" side of Ben! All- in- all, Ben Harper and Relentless 7 are sure to please and his new music proves that he can play many styles of music and just be relentless!

The last time I saw Ben Harper was 11 years ago and as amazing as I remember him to be I'll just multiply it by 20! The whole show was just amazing song after song and I can't believe how long they rocked! The show didn't get out until almost 1 am. His concerts always have a very private feel to them, almost like we get to sit in with them in a jam session. This concert DEFINITELY did not disappoint.

As always Ben Harper brings his amazing guitar skills and is in no hurry to leave the stage. Harper was a three hour tour de force with a great mix of hard screaching slide guitar and mellow acoustic favorites to bring the crowd back down to sea level. With an encore performance mixing in an amazing rendition of Led Zeppelins Heartbreak that shook the entire building. Ben Harper is not to be missed or underestimated live. If only his albums sounded this good he would be one of the greatest of our generation.

My favorite Ben Harper is the older albums (Cruel World). I absolutely LOVE Ben Harper and have been a HUGE fan for over 15 years. This show was 99% all of his new stuff, which sounds good, but I was really hoping for a mix of everything, especially songs like "Waiting on an Angel" and "Forever". He is such an unbelievable performer and loved seeing him Live, but it was way too much of the new album, and not enough mix of everything else:(

Ben Harper is by far the most talented musician I have ever had the honor of seeing perform live. He played for 2 hours, and thats not even including a 2nd encore, but I had to miss out because my feet were killing me!!! Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 brought some life to this cow town on Thrusday April 29th, 2010. The show started with a lazy crowd of Jacksonvillians that eventually became a standing ovation rockin out crowd. Ben Harper's cover of Red House was the best I had ever heard and the Relentless 7 really showed their talent throughout the show, especially during the instrumental solos. Ben finished off the show with an amazing acostic set and a heart felt thank you speech to the crowd. I was suprised that the people of Jacksonville could really appreicate and stand up (literally) for such an amazing artist and song writer. Be sure you make it to his next Jacksonville show.

Harper and the band played for maybe 2 and half hours; this was truly an awesome show. The show started with "Diamonds on the Inside" and the energy built from there. The balance of slower with faster numbers shaped the night. These four musicians are supremely talented. It's a given BH can play the guitar, yet the lead guitar player may be one of the best I have heard in years live, matched by a solid, steady, creative beat and bass line. I would highly recommend this show to any age--and last night the crowd was diverse and spanned all the age groups.

Just started listening to Ben Harper about a year ago. Wasn't something I thought I would like, but I thoroughly enjoy the Fight for your Mind disc. My wife really likes him so I got tickets for the show. It's really hard to describe in words, but his performance was amazing. I was totally blown away by the way he seemed to enjoy every minute of playing for us as if he was feeding off the energy from the crowd. It was an unforgettable experience and I will continue to listen and probably get the rest of his albums. I think Relentless 7 kept up well and each had a cool solo. Thanks for a great show Ben. In the top 3 of my all time show list.

Friends have talked up Mr. Harper for 6 years, to me. Last night was the first show I got to see him perform and my god were those 6 years of hype worth it!! Their heavy groove pushes and pulls your body and faults your heart with accents and break downs that leave you gasping for air. The band is phenomenal, each member has the skills to steal the show any second but they never do. They toss the baton around and do a bit of a showcase but the best moments are when they all fit in the same pocket. Some classics were played, a surprise, and an acute attention was payed to the crowd. Towards the end of the show, after being called back more than once, he took his time to recognize individual fans. You can see this man has a deep appreciation for his fans, any one who goes to his shows will walk away knowing that their devotion is not in vain.

This review comes as a tale of getting engaged. Ben was gracious enough to sing a song dear to me and my new Fiance as a request for our engagement. She knew nothing of the request and when Ben began to sing "Not Fire, Not Ice", I leaned in and said, "This song is for you". We shared a choked up moment as we sung along with Ben. At the end of the song, as people began to cheer, I fell to one knee and asked her to be mine. She, through teary eyes, accepted. We were able to make our way to the stage front to say thank you and Ben announced our engagement to the audience. Needless to say for me, this was the greatest show I've ever been too and am so thankful for that moment.

Ben Harper's energy was amazing. His musicality shines above and beyond the talent of Relentless 7. The guitar and bass player need to loosen up and look like they have fun when they play. The band seemed to be confused or had different ideas of what the tempo should be on a couple of songs. The drummer rocks and is sooo sweet! Despite these slight problems, they rocked out. Ben Harper always puts on a great show. He's amazing and Relentless 7 should feel blessed to play with him!!!
