A Not So Silent Night was a wonderful showcase of the buzzworthy local bands of Columbus. The fact that it raised funds for great causes is a bonus. The bands to watch came out and played a fun, fast series of sets, including Angela Perley, Post Coma Network, Forest and the Evergreens, EOP and the Regrettes.

Have been following this band since Money for Gyro days, so I may not be an objective critic, but they just keep getting better and better. Better, richer back-up vocals (Jonathan has always had an amazing lead voice) add depth and complexity, more complicated guitar stuff, solid drums and bass and keyboard. A very "accessible" band, and they look like they're having a great time up there on-stage. My only criticism might be that I'd like the sound mixing to offer more prominent vocals and cleaner guitar and less electric "noise."

Ohio's own The Floorwalkers took on The Newport Music Hall for a purpose. That purpose is to show that the local act can play on any stage, anywhere. Taking each song out in a mini jam, giving the solos to each member, this show just proves to everyone that was there that The Floorwalkers are here to stay. With some help from another local act The Town Monster the entire show was a success. Looking forward to seeing both bands live again!

The Floorwalkers show was AMAZING! From the opening bands (The Way Yes and The Receivers) to the encore, the energy was fantastic. I honestly don't know why the 'walkers don't have a major record deal, yet. They deserve it so very much. Their music in quality and their live performances are impeccable. It was an absolute added bonus to see the saxaphonist, Jerry DePizzo, working it with the guys. Columbus puts out wonderful bands... and The Floorwalkers are right in the thick of it. This was my first time at Newport, and the environment was great. I love the down and dirty vibe that place gives off. I will be making more concert trips there.

These guys always rock, and since their CD release they've been killing it on stage. Great set lists, fantastic energy! I wasn't crazy about the sound at the Newport when we got up close to the stage - the vocals were pretty muffled. But when we stepped back a little - wow, they sounded great!
