What an incredible experience to see Herbert Gronemeyer live in Los Angeles. In Germany it would have been in a sold out stadium..and here we could be only a few meters away from such an incredible and talented singer. This will be one of the all time memorable concerts for me of my entire life.

In Germany a normal concert of Herbert has thousand of people in the audience and in the Buckhead theathre the concert felt like a private concert. The performance was awesome, dynamically and unforgettable! Highly recommended for all fans and 'not' fans. Wow!

This is the third time I have seen Herbert (once in Berlin and once in Amsterdam), and every venue is a different show. He is truly an amazing artist and performer, and even if you do not speak German, it is that one show you should see every ten years. I will certainly see Herbert again when he returns to America.

Herbert is a well known artist to Germans. He is little known in the American market, and is trying to change that by releasing an English album. Therefore, he tried to sing many songs in English, some covers, some of his originals with the lyrics changed to English. Though, it may have been disappointing to many German audience members, I feel that it did not change the great atmosphere of the overall performance. Herbert enjoys himself on stage like no one else, he gets into it with his headbobs and his little jaggedy dance. His voice is distinct and powerful in German or English alike. Unfortunately, the venue was changed and my seat was downgraded to balcony standing. Luckily, I had a fairly decent spot :)

This concert was one of a kind! It was a very intimate setting and Groenemeyer was able to interact with the crowd. He gave two encores and I think, if the crowd would have asked for another one, he would have done it. It looked like, he really enjoyed singing in front of the New Yorkers and was very happy to share his new english songs with them. It was such a good feeling, seeing and hearing him so close and I enjoyed every moment of his music!

Every German rock music fan in the Tri-state area converged to see the legendary Herbert at Irving Plaza. Even after the event was downsized from the original Beacon Theater setting, the fans were excited. With great naration of his songs' meanings to audience in English, he then proceeded to do English versions of some of his greatest hits. After each song, people thought that he would move into doing his German songs. The audience continued to shout "Deutsch!" between every song, but he did not seem to be prepared for this. After the main set, we shouted "Zugabe" to request an encore and "Jetzt gehts los" to get them to start, but Herbert only responded to these typical German concert moments by telling the audience what that meant in English. Even those that did not understand German, knew the original lyrics and sang along in German. It was great to see him and he had a great band and stage presence, but his voice just sounds better singing in German. Picture Bruce Springsteen doing all of his hits in German and you get the idea. Thank goodness he at least did 2 songs in German and mixed German and English in 2 others. A lot of people left early due to the language issue, but it was great to see him on this side of the Atlantic.

The event was in general okay, just for the LITTLE fact, that location was changed and suddenly we moved from sitting in front to standing on the balcony and that was NOT FUNNY. Sometimes there is a reaon that you need a seat ( being with a handycapped partner) and it was a huge mess at Irving Plaza, because they did not recognized our tickets. This ended up not being the event we were looking forward to! We should hve asked for our money back, but who does not want to see Herbert Groenemeyer in NYC. He was great!

Great Concert. He normally fills big sport arenas. Seeing him in such a small setting was great and so much more personal. Thanks Herbert for coming to New York

Great concert but it was so too loud that my ears are still ringing. Almost felt like they didn't adjust the volume after moving it from the Beacon to Irving Plaza. Would have preferred if Herbert had sung more German songs - specially because over 90% of the audience were Germans and just wanted to party. So rare that a German singer comes to New York and Germans here are just longing to listen to their favorite artists.

How fantastic that Herbert Groenemeyer finally played in the US. It was great to see him live again. Once he understood that we wanted to hear some songs in German too, things got even better. Hope this is the start of something good. Would love to see him play to for his fans in Amerika again.

After 23 concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain and Austria i visited Los Angeles only to see Herbert on his U.S. tour and it was an amazing evening in this nice theatre in Hollywood. It was an perfect mix of his new english stuff, the good old german songs und the few covers. I wonder why one person writes a review with facts that are false. It was never said, that the concert starts at 8 p.m., this was the doors open time. And at 10 p.m. Herbert and band starts with the show.

You don't get the opportunity too often seeing someone that is used to play for tenth of thousands of people in such a small venue with 300 folks. Eventhough I didn't like to much the cover songs and the other songs he sung in english but overall a great show.

Up close and personal - nice and intimate setting - well organized event. Everyone was singing the songs word for word with him. Incredible performance! "Meet and Greet" was good, but a bit too short and pushy, sort of in and out the door - not necessarily worth the extra money.

The concert was to start at 8pm. So I figured, they will start with the warm-up at 8:30-9pm, which means that Groenemeyer would come on by 10pm. Was I wrong. 10:30pm and still no Herbert. As there was no seating available, even through I had bought seated tickets, I left. No re-entry they told me when I left. $50.00 out the window for nothing. Only good thing: The helpful and nice staff of the Fonda Theater.

Herbert Groenemeyer is known for his brilliant lyrics - his German lyrics that is. It really doesn't make sense to convert a 15+ year old song to english and perform it for the fans who sing along the original GERMAN version of the song. I get that he made an English album, but he should not butcher his valuable portfolio. The songs he sang in German (there were too few) were absolutely breath taking (DER WEG). I do hope that he HAD to sing all of those weird English songs (due to contract ect) , otherwise I would lose my faith in him as an artist. Continuing singing english when the entire room screams "GERMAN !!" would otherwise be more than arrogant. Schade, Herbert.... Come back and sing YOUR songs !

This was a great concert and I can only recommend it. I have seen Herbert in may concerts and in Germany he is filling a whole stadium. This time it was great to be so close to him. I love his songs and after all the years he is still humble.

Awesome performance trying to capture the hearts of the US audience and keeping his German speaking fans happy at the same time. Great energy throughout, connected with the audience with little stories between songs. Small intimate setting makes this a completely new concert experience, if you've seen him in sold out football stadiums. I wish him the best of luck for his remaining US tour and hope he'll return.

The concert was amazing - Herr Grönemeyer was masterful at switching between English and German language, even within the same song. The comparative small venue allowed for a more intimate and personal experience. The songs ranged from those on his new English album to some old English/German favorites. He came back for an amazing two encores, keeping the music flowing. I wish him much success in America and hope he comes back soon.

It was great fun listening to Herbert Grönemeyer again! Was at a concert in Germany a few years back. That was terrific too. He got a bit older in the meantime but didn't loose any of his enthusiasm. Wasn't enough German for me. Could have been more. But still - I will go again if he turns up in Boston!

Amazing concert of germanys beloved Herbert Groenemeyer with home style atmosphere. Everyone who has seen one of his stadium concerts should absolutly take this opportunity to see him in smaller venues! Played lots of his all time favorites like Bochum, Flugzeuge im Bauch (Planes in my head), Alcohol, Mensch and many more!

5 Stars for Herbert and band, -1 star for the seats. I grew up with his music way back when I lived in Germany, so I was excited that he came to Boston. I don't quite enjoy my favorite songs in english as much as I do the german version, but part of the problem was that I got seats in the Balcony section and the accustics up there were very poor. Also, the lighting was in your face so that I could hardly make out the band. Seats on the ground floor were still available but it was not possible to exchange the tickets at the venue. We were able to sneak to one of the lower levels and things were vastly improved. Herbert was as lively as I remember him, the crowd was enthusiastic, especially when he threw in some german lines. Raving applause, he came out 3 more times and played 45 min of extras songs, some in german. Upbeat and fun!! The small venue was perfect for getting a close-up look (if you chose the right seats). Also got the VIP ticket from friends for meeting the band after the concert in a restaurant across the street, but Herbert showed up for about 10 min and was circled by fans wanting pictures, not worth it.

Grönemeyer's break through LP "Bochum" came out just before I graduated high school; part of anybody's growing up in Germany at that time, his classics still fresh in my mind every day. Ever since those days Grönemeyer has probably never played in Germany in anything less than a soccer stadium, so seeing him in Boston up front and close at the Wilbur was very special. I left Germany in 1991, so this was a re-introduction to the new, grown Grönemeyer. I had expected him to play his signature songs, in German, me singing along. There was some of that. But he really captivated me with his new songs, beautiful ballads "Will I ever learn" and lyric rock of depth and beauty. His voice and range still incredible, his dance style unique, minimalist, fun to watch, groovy. My loss for not having gotten his new album "I walk" beforehand - I would have loved singing along. Great concert. Best of luck, Herbert, I really hope you win a US audience with this tour.

The Herbert Grönemeyer concert was one of the great experiences this year. He presented music from his new album " I walk" and famous older titles with his unbelievable voice, being a great very friendly, personable and enthusiastic artist. His band produced a great sound. Herbert Grönemeyer in the US - a must go, see and hear for all friends of great concerts!

He did an excellent job briding the English and German music parts. Promoting his new album but also satisfying the crowd. I am so glad I went. Only to be recommended ! Typical Groenemeyer songs, traditional American songs, some of his greatest hits. Sensitive and wild at times. What an inspiration.

To be so close the Herbert was a dream come true. He is such a spirited yet humble person and you could tell how much he loves to perform. However, 90 percent of his audience were German longing to sing along to his songs that carried us through so many stages in life. While I understand that he wanted to promote his new English music he should have done the switch to the German lyrics rather soon than later and ended the show with Männer.

Loved, loved, loved Groenemeyer s concert in Atlanta . . . I ve been a fan for close to 30 years and have not had a chance to see him live for more than 20 years. My sister came all the way from Germany to go to the concert with me. I got us meet & greet tickets and we had a blast! It should be no surprise that this English-vs-German-songs-thing is such a mixed \u2018bag o bones . . . German fans are clamoring for more songs in German, but Groenemeyer is in the US to promote his English album. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for him. However, Groenemeyer and his Band did not disappoint and did an outstanding job with their show. I was thrilled when people stood up and danced in the aisles and didn t just stay seated . . . because no matter what language Groenemeyer sings in, not dancing and not having a fun and marvelous time just isn t an option at a Groenemeyer concert!

Herbert Groenemeyer was absolutely wonderful. I wished I would have bought the meet and greet tickets. For being such a huge artist in Germany (since decades), he is very humble and down to earth. I hope he takes the American audience by storm- he deserves it. He did three encores- which was great. This concert was lots of fun and I would go again in a heartbeat. Thank you Herbert for bringing a piece of "Heimat" to Atlanta.

HG put on a great show. He had lots of energy as if he was still 25yo. But it was clear that his goal was to promote his English language album. I thought he was kidding he said that "we'll play our new songs, then maybe a few German songs at the end." but he really did play 1hr of English songs, then ~three German songs at the end. The crowd, being heavily German, was yelling the entire time for classics and looked bored for much of the English set. So while he's a great showman, he should give the people more what they wanted.

I loved the concert! Herbert Groenemeyer was kind, appreciative of the audience, funny and passionate. The song selection was good, though I wished he had chosen a few more "signature" songs. I think it's great that he sang in English - since it was a U.S. concert -, though I think the - more German - audience would have preferred him singing more German songs. It was a great atmosphere even though it was not a sold-out crowd: People were dancing, singing along, clapping, and having a good time. Two hours straight! For me personally, it was a flashback to 27 years ago when I heard him live in Germany - unbelievable how he's still able to rock and roll!! I love his music, his lyrics, and his attitude and personality. A great artist!

Danke Herbert & Band!!! Awesome start for the US tour. The venue is perfect for an intimate concert. The opening act was a great choice. Herbert & band were simply amazing. You could truly tell they loved being there and having fun. Good setlistwith a creative mix of the new songs, unexpected cover songs, and of course some German classics. I truly enjoyed the switching between English and German in the songs. Creative! The 'meet & greet' afterwards was also nicely arranged. Herbert took his time to visit with every guest. The band was there as well and we enjoyed talking to them as well. I spent a lot of time talking to Jakob the lead guitar player.Wonderful person and with genuine interest talking to me and my wife. Thank you all for being here and we. Hope to see you again!!!

I was very much looking forward to this concert, and I knew he would present his new (English) CD. However, the entire audience clearly wanted to hear German songs, and this became more and more evident over the course of the evening (applause, shouts of joy after some German singing, loud yelling) - but he barely followed that lead and the desire of the audience. In that regard, the concert was rather disappointing. It was his first concert in NYC, so I give him some credit anyway. He was very polite, but should have just loosened up a bit and rock it! The venue was interesting - it changed from the Beacon Theatre to Irving Plaza.
