Sleigh Bells

SLEIGH BELLS IN CONCERT:Noise pop duo Sleigh Bells are masters of leveraging minimal musical elements to maximum effect. Their anthemic tracks often employ little more than a hard-hitting beat, the distorted guitar work of Derek Edward Miller, and the adrenaline-filled vocals of Alexis Krauss, but despite their stripped-down makeup they always sound larger than life. From the fuzzed-out stomp of "Infinity Guitars" to the pummel-pop of "Comeback Kid", Sleigh Bells' high-energy sound is matched by their equally electrifying performances on tour. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT: Sleigh Bells, a.

I'm not much of a concery goer but Sleigh Bells was too good to pass up. I got there a bit early and ended up at the very front, right in front of the stage. I couldn't have hoped for a better spot since I was also near the middle, and also because I'm a pretty short person; I would've been doomed had anyone been in front of me. The show itself was incredible. Everyone was so excited to be there and Alexis was so energetic. The atmosphere was amazing. I don't have the words to accurately describe the show but it was definitely some of the most fun I've had at a concert. I'd absolutely see them again!

This was the fifth time seeing Sleigh Bells live, and the first time in Louisville. This was also my first time seeing them on the "Bitter Rivals" tour. I really enjoyed the additions to the setlist from the new album. Alexis Krauss is a true showman. Love this band!

After not having much of a warm-up band at all.. more like playing 80s music from the stereo and waiting until 11:15 when they came on when the concert started at 7... They were terrible took a break and still the concert ended at 11:45... They played literally five songs and weren't even that great... A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY

I liked Sleigh Bells amp set up and their performance. Their set was way too short for the long wait to seeing them come on. The Sundelles sucked and Pictureplane was not very interesting. I would recommend Sleigh Bells to anyone but not the other performers.

Pretty small venue...but after the opener and I got a red bull vodka up in my hand I was ready to giver! Pretty short show considering that "treats" at ten tracks is like 47minz start 2 finish, they skipped a few songs...but all in all I had a blasty blast. After the show Alexis was waaaaaaay cool enough to come back out and chitchat it up with me and my boys and signed my merch..!..Ep.......Ic!!

It wasn't too packed. Pictureplane killed it and Sleigh Bells delivered what I expected. The only problems were that Sleigh Bells set was about 40 minutes long, maybe 45. Way too short for a headliner. I also felt that Pictureplane could have played longer, especially since I know he has more songs, but he didn't in order to not go longer than Sleigh Bells.

Went to the sleigh bells/hot chip show in san fran at the warfield. Seriously we only went for sleigh bells, hot chip was amazing dont get me wrong but sleigh bells! ahh! We've seen them at coachella as well. I wanted to make the show tonight in costa mesa but it sold out :( Might just have to head to LA tommorow night and catch them at the el rey! They're probably my favorite band this year and they bring the beat, Count on dancing and an amazing time if you are lucky enough to see them live!

DJ Amber from local alternative station WEQX said that this show might just be the best of the year, and I'd be hard pressed to disagree. Seeing this duo perform live though is kind of like watching an old school Mike Tyson fight: a beautiful, near-perfect display of raw power and emotion, but over in a flash. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to witness it again.

Saw Sleigh Bells on the last show of their tour and they were incredible. Brought all the energy of their recordings times 1000. Sound mixing wasn't the best, so the bass drowned out most of the intricate stuff, but the performance was unforgettable.

I've seen sleigh bells twice before in Boston, and only opening for other groups. This is when the 2 original members were on stage, and that's it. Fast forward a few years later, I'm in NYC for the weekend and this show for Friday and Saturday pops up as the #1 recommended show of the weekend village voice. I can't remember the last time I was this happy after a show. Not only are they an amazing live band (this time with a live group of 4 members) and have insane stage presence but this was the best minimalist use of lighting and audio I had seen at any show at a venue this size. With earplugs in, I could still hear everything and still feel the energy. Some bands have stage presence but the audio and/or lighting setup ruins it. This was no gimmicks, only basic lights, but the synchronization was like an arena show. Oh, and did I mention that this band DESTROYS it every time?

I was so excited to see this show, and I am a big fan of Sleigh Bells, but the organization of this show was awful. They had two opening acts that each played for close to an hour, and set up in between sets took half an hour- forty five minutes. Doors opened at 8, and Sleigh Bells didn't play until 11. I'm sorry, but I'm not here to see the nameless opening acts, I'm here to see Sleigh Bells.

I first saw Sleigh Bells when they toured as a supporting act with the Red Hot Chili Peppers last year. That was at the TD Garden in Boston, which is a massive, 12,000-person venue. It made no difference that Alexis and Derek were the only two people on stage cause they totally CRUSHED it. They were loud as hell and their distortion practically shook the place down. Now take that and scale it down to a tiny, standing-room-only theatre like the Royale. Total insanity! The addition of a drummer and another guitarist has upped the sheer force of the band as a live act, and Alexis is as energetic as ever. The crowd was really, really into it and the band could really feel the love. By far one of my favorite experiences at a show ever.

Lots of energy from Sleigh Bells which just fed right into the crowd. They had a great show and sounded great at the Royal in Boston. Played a great set and came into it running on all cylinders. I enjoyed the show. The first band sounded like they had prerecorded Halloween sounds over a synthesizer. The lead singer used reverb the whole night. Not great. Sleigh Bells, on the other hand, gave a solid one hour show. They perform well live, but sound slightly different then on their album. I would see them again. Concerning any headline act at the Newport, I would recommend showing up fashionably late by an hour.

Great show. I had not seen them live before and this was well worth the drive to and from Cincinnati three times over and the teasing from my siblings since they don't like SB. Unbelievable performance. I wasn't expecting such energy. This show rocked from the first second to the last with zero letup. It was my first Sleigh Bells concert so I was unprepared for the drunken slam dancing and raucous crowd surfing. (I could have lived without a foot to the head midway through the show.) But it was a great time, nonetheless. Downside: The set could have been longer.

Sleigh Bells definitely gave it their all, however I was very disappointed at how short they played for (50 minutes), considering they have more than one album. The concert was over at 10:35. The venue was pretty cool, the crowd was chill, the sound was great. I stood in GA on the floor and still had a good view. I'm not one to sit in a seat at a concert, but it was cool to have the option to sit if you wanted to.

Sleigh Bells are back for their 3rd album, and with that comes a new tour. All of the songs get a more rock n roll makeup for the live show, which now features a drummer. Alexis' live singing has improved a ton since the last show I saw about 1.5 year ago. They keep the energy up the whole time and I was about to pass out by the end from thrashing around so much! If you have a chance to see them, don't miss out!

Awesome show, I've never been rocked so hard in my life! Alexis and Derek bring so much energy to the show, I was dancing (as in jumping up and down) the entire time. I have seen them twice before and this was the most fun, their opener was interesting and the venue (Mercury Ballroom) is new and clean as well as intimate so there is not a bad seat (or rather standing position) in the place. Sound was good, very loud and sounded better with earplugs actually. The whole experience was really great!

We had a blast. It wasn't really crowded, but the crowd definitely energetic. It was our first time at the Mercury Ballroom and we loved it. Not a long line for drinks or for the bathroom, which is a huge plus. Sleigh Bells rocked and kept the pace rolling along great. Definitely had sore legs the next day from jumping around. Wish they would have played Rill Rill and Tell Em, but other than that no complaints! Loads of fun!

She even jumped in to break up a fight. If I could create my perfect band, it would be Sleigh Bells. Her voice, the beat, and the guitar?! Hi. This is my third time seeing Sleigh Bells in Boston. Tonight's show was great. Audience was WAY into the show. My only complaint is that the volume is excessively loud. Believe me, I usually live by the "if it's too loud, your too old motto", but Damn, my ears were actually hurting! I've heard this is common for them when they play live, but this loud is unnecessary. Other than that, great show.

As the band dramatically hits the stage with the chilling intro and begins with the killer song "Demons," I knew it was going to be an exciting night. Beyond a crappy opening band and a super packed house....Sleigh Bells were AMAZING as usual. Getting there drunk was probably a bad decision, since all you want to do is jump around. Beverage of choice should have been water. My friends and I arrived early and we got in the front. Bosco Delrey opened first. He wasn't too bad, but wasn't too great either. His guitar was louder than his singing so it was hard to understand him. He also seemed like he was on something and looked really strung out, so he wasn't energetic whatsoever. His set was maybe ten songs but it seemed way longer. CSS came on next, and they put on a killer, lengthy show. The energy was awesome! The music was even better! They were all over the place! The lead singer ripped off her button up leggings and went to town! Sleigh Bells opened up with an "Iron Man" lead in, and than transitioned into "Crown on the Ground". The stage lights set the mood perfect! The guitarist kept having problems with his instrument, but Alexis stole the show! She was climbing on speakers, jumping around, etc. By the end of their seemingly short set, I was dehydrated and ready to pass out. I had to have my friend drive. If Sleigh Bells do come to a town near you, do not miss this epic performance!

I was introduced to Sleigh Bells a few months ago by my brother and was instantly impressed. With that being said, as soon as I found out they were playing in Denver I wasted no time in booking my tickets. I invited three of my closest friends of whom had never heard of either band. I previewed Neon Indian's cd but wasn't as impressed with them as I was with Sleigh Bells. However, once they took the stage, they made their presence known! They definitely left an impression! Sleigh Bells, however, simply blew my mind! I was front row for the entire show and it was nothing short of brilliant. They interacted with the crowd and made the most of their time on stage. Afterward, the lead singer came out to sign shirts/posters for fans and was so nice and down to earth. The show definitely left an impression on my friends too...what a great experience!

To be honest, this was my first general admission concert, and I am on the tiny side, so I guess finding mosh pits a little rough would be expected of me. But goodness, couldn't some people think before showing up drunk to a concert, and then throwing themselves against 5'4" highschoolers? Besides the unnecessary roughness, it was quite the amazing concert. Two opening bands greeted us first, a screamo-type band called Wet Witch and a hard rock-type band by the name of Mr. Dream. Screamo isn't exactly my preference, so Wet Witch didn't quite whet my palette, though Mr. Dream was pretty catchy. After Mr. Dream, CSS came on, putting on an AWESOME show. Lovefoxxx certainly knows how to work a stage (and correctly stage-dive) and I loved their show. A half hour later, Sleigh Bells came on, with tons of fog and bright lights adorning the piles of amps set up. They were LOUD, only able to be correctly expressed through caps, and the crowd went INSANE. The music sounded great, even live, and Alexis came riiight up to the crowd. Even if my friend hadn't gotten sick and I went out to make sure she was okay, I probably would have left before they were done anyway. Being pummeled both physically and audibly wasn't much fun after a while, no matter how much I loved the band and their music.

This show was amazing! the Triple Rock Social club is a great venue for this type of show, although soon will be too small to hold all the Sleigh Bells fans. The opening acts for both very different and wonderfully entertaining (the Sundelles and Picture Plane with dancer Mister Freeze) When Sleigh Bells came out it was crazy. The standing area was packed and sweaty, but that just made it better. They are an awesome band and even greater in person. Alexis even came out after and signed things/talked with a bunch of people for about an hour! best night ever.

I love SB's. I have seen them 4 times. They always put on a great show. But, they only play 45-50 minutes. That was fine when they only had one record, but now they have 4 CD's filled with solid tunes they should be playing. Less than an hour might be OK for a festival show where there are other bands to see, and the crowd may not be their biggest fans. But a solo/headlining show is made up of their most loyal fans that deserve better. Maybe it's the lower price so that is why it's shorter. But, earlier in the week I saw a band who charged the same amount as SBs, and they played for an hour and a half. Waiting much longer for a band to get on stage than the length of the actual show is a big no-no. So, unfortunately I have to give less stars this time, and unless they add more to their setlist, I'll pass next time that they come to town. Maybe that's why they came far from filling the Newport where they sold it out last time?

The actual performance was great. However, many guests including myself went in at 7:30 start time. No one on stage until 8:30. 45 minute performance by Tunde, then waited until 10pm until Sleigh Bells actually went on for a 45 minute set and 2-song encore. I was sick and we planned on getting dinner right after so this was even worse having to wait so long. Waiting 2.5 hours for a 45 minute show was disappointing.

These guys put on a great show. We saw them at the Fillmore a couple years back and had a great time, I definitely preferred the Underground as a venue this time around, it's a much more comfortable space. But if you're going to see Sleigh Bells, I highly recommend that you bring earplugs. Volume is a big part of their sound and they are LOUD; my hearing was damaged and never fully recovered from the first show. I brought earplugs this time around and had a great time, it was still satisfyingly loud but much more enjoyable. Lots of people were complaining about their ears ringing while we were exiting. Still, this is a fun group and I plan on seeing them every time they return to the Queen City.

I am a black man from the bible belt Midwest, well over the age of 40, and I love the Sleigh Bells. I know, how is this possible you may ask? I don't know, just blessed, I suppose. This group has been in my ears for years and has helped me deal with my most stressful days in ways that few other outlets can. I was at the show in The Sinclair and was thrilled at the full frontal wall of energy they fed the audience. I felt every molecule of energy returned to the group by the audience. From the guy in the front with me at the stages edge wearing a big, furry, hat with ears to the bouncing teenagers in the balcony... It was intoxicating even without the one beer in my belly I would've been swaying right along and jumping up an down just as hard as i did. Will I return to the Sinclair? Absolutely. Will I see the Sleigh Bells again? Sadly, no. I realize I'm too old for this now. Do I regret going? Certainly not! This was my entire teenage years of GnR, Motley Crue, Burning Spear, Morrissey, and every other concert I ever saw burned into a single night. I physically CAN'T do it again. But I will NEVER regret that I did it just this one last time.

The first band was not great, but Sleigh Bells put on a great show. They definitely got the crowd back into the concert. Stone Pony is always a great venue for loud music!

One of the most innovative contemporary bands. In a culture that celebrates understatement, Sleigh Bells and Alexis Krauss are refreshingly charismatic and one of the only groups that actually knows how to put on a rock show. Their sound is stripped down but refined. Minimalist but full. It harkens to the eighties but is not defined by it. The balance of heavy rock sounds with danceable beats that swing gives you all you need. And, of course Alexis Krauss is just beautiful and amazing.

Sleigh Bells tore it up at the House of Blues. Openers were not my style, but I came only for the headliners anyway.

Great show! This is my second time seeing them live and they were just awesome. They played most songs from the first album and some of the new songs. I wish their second album was released before the show so that I could appreciate them more. Of the song set the newer songs were definitely weaker. Now that I know the album there are some really great songs that I wish they played in concert. Opening acts were ok, nothing special.

Now officially my favorite rock band to see live, Sleigh Bells owned the stage from the first song to the last. Alexis and Derek are true rock stars. Don't miss out.

this isnt a show about ambiance or special "moments." It is about aggression and intensity. If you want a powerful loud exciting show you need to see this. By the second song my neck (literally) hurt from head thrashing and i didnt care. I just kept on thrashing. show opened with Demons and went into Crown on the ground. after that it was largely a blur of head thrashing pumped fists. They had some slowish songs thrown in where you could catch your breath, stretch your neck and w/e. then they went right back into overload. They "closed" with Rill Rill which wasnt my favorite idea cuz i think that would been best as the second or third to last song (not a major concern, just a nitpick). They did their encore with a slow song from Reign of terror and Blew the roof off with A/B Machines. fantastic fantastic show

Loved this show! Hadn't been to 4th and B in forever. Remembered the sound quality in the place not being so great back in the day but that was not the case here. The first opening act: Elite Gymnastics had a good sound but the lead's spoken word/rap/singing was mumbled. Didn't make me a fan. The second act: Javelin was fantastic! Their beats with the vocals were just on the money and worth a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th listen. Ready to see and hear more of them. And then SLEIGH BELLS came on stage and the place erupted. I didn't know anything about them until about 2 weeks ago. I LOVE 'EM!

I love sleigh bells but they played for about 45 minutes and then came out for a one song encore. Also, the sound at this venue kinda sucks. There was a "meth head" there causing trouble. He elbowed the girl i was with and started elbowing other people. I got security and they looked scared to do anything. They finally removed him but the guy got back in and started trouble again and security was not much help. This venue feels very unsafe.

It was cool, only went for Sleigh Bells so I didn't see the opening bands but Sleigh Bells was on for only like 50 minutes! The whole night was over before 12am! That is the shortest main act I have ever been too. They have only two albums and they didn't even play all their songs!

Sleigh Bells were awesome!!! Clear acoustics...Guitar and vocals stood out clean and clear....I would go to another SB show anytime! They do a good job getting the crowd rockin....encore of 2 songs left me satisfied!!! the crowd was atypical for the 909 area code ( show was at the Fox theatre Pomona)...with all the hipsters, it seemed for one night that Downtown Pomona was Silverlake.... Javelin played well... Honestly, the other cover band's ( elite gymnastics) performance did not live up to how they sounded recorded...was not too thrilled with the latter...just mostly noise

I had never seen Sleigh Bells live, and a friend actually told me about their live show. So I went. It was definitely at the top of my list of performers (along with Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and some others). Of course I had to bring my earplugs along because I value my ears more than my image. But I still heard every word. The venue is much more laid back in comparison with some other LA based venues. Free parking in Pomona :) Mosh pits weren't all that bad either. Not a big fan of the openers (Javelin and some other opener as well), but not because they aren't talented, more that they aren't the style of music that I'm really into. I must say that the drummer for Javelin can really rock out on the drum machine though. Overall, a great experience.

Second time I've seen Sleigh Bells in six weeks, and both shows we're great. The setlist stayed pretty much the same except for this time they played my favorites SB song, "Never Say Die." Great crowd and with energy to spare. Looking forward to seeing the band more this summer on the festival circuit.

The Sleigh Bells component of the show was the only thing worth seeing. The earlier acts left much to be desired. But, it was worth the wait since Sleigh Bells totally rocked. Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!! I hope they come back soon.

This was the most fun show I've ever been to. Sleigh Bells is amazing, the energy they manage to keep throughout the performance is incredible. They sounded great, looked great. I had a blast! Really fun show, kind of music you can just jump and bounce to without worrying about getting knocked over by someone. Great scene for girls but my boyfriend also had a great time. Alexis is magnetic, her energy on stage is contagious, I could watch her perform all day. Go see Sleigh Bells - you will not regret it! PS - Javelin, who opened for them, was also amazing. I'd like to see more of them!

First of all, the website said doors opened at 7 and the show started at 8. Not wanting to see the openers, we showed up at about 8:30, and the show hadn't even started yet. No one went on till 9pm, and Sleigh Bells didn't start till 11pm. Once Sleigh Bells did start, it was so overwhelmingly loud we only stayed about halfway through the show. Alexis did a great job and had fantastic stage presence, but it was just too damn loud.

the venue was slow to fill during the opening acts. Once Sleigh Bells went on, the place was packed. I couldn't believe how loud the concert was though. I was about 20 rows back and the bass literally made my body shake and eyes rattle. It was awesome. Thankfully, another concert goer had extra ear plugs.

It might be hard to describe their music but their energy is unmistakeable. Sleigh Bells is a powerhouse of electrified chords and primal screams intertwined with hauntingly melodic lyrics. I read someone else say that it was as if a rave broke out at a heavy metal concert. Sleigh Bells saves nothing, they deliver everything on stage. How can you not jump & shout?!?
