Bachman & Turner

BACHMAN & TURNER IN CONCERT:Canadian classic rock heroes Bachman & Turner are back on the road in 2014, treating fans to marathon sets of nostalgic hits like "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and "Let It Ride." The duo rose to international superstardom in the '70s as Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and although they've dropped the "overdrive" from their name in the new millennium, they haven't lost any of their hard-charging spark. Amid rumors that they'll be performing their seminal 1974 album Not Fragile end-to-end on their 2014 tour dates, gearheads from coast to coast are lining up for a chance to catch these legends in concert.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:After rising to prominence with The Guess Who in the '60s, guitarist Randy Bachman formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive with singer Fred Turner in the early '70s.

It was straitforward with no frills rock and roll except for the fact that Randy Bachman took a few excursions into Jazz territory (that I'm not that much into) but he mixed it up with blues) and I was tripped out that he did Stayed Awake All Night by Krokus which really blew me away, there was a lot of stuff that he covered that I hadn't heard in years. I'd like to see it again but that's pretty much hard to do but it was worth the whole $30 that I spent for the ticket. I was stunned by the size of that bass guitar that Fred Truner was playing, the neck on that thing was massive, and I'd like to know the specs on it. I was watching him through a pair of binoculars and I couldn't see a name on the upper neck anywhere so it must have been custom made. Mr. Bachman is a virtuoso in his own right.

My husband and I were very disappointed. Although the 2 warm up bands were good, we were there to see B&T. Their sets were shorter than the other 2. The changeover was lengthy and seemed amateurish. The evening was too long. The venue was too cold, and the seats were too hard.

It was great to See Bachman & Turner together again. Fred Turner can still sing and he cranked it out for a few songs. There was some great guitar playing in the show and the band put it together well. Paul Rodgers put on a really good show as you can see in his enthusiasm while he performs.

Two amazing bands in one night - terrific! Enjoyed both bands playing some oldies and some new songs. My one disappoint was the hour long concert by Bachman and Turner, albeit far from their control given how long the opening singer took and then the taking down and setting up of equipment inbetween. Otherwise, a great time was had! On another note, my daughter spoke with security about the butthead sitting beside me who was agitated and in a fighting mood because people ahead of us wouldn't sit down. Security did nothing. Making their presence known by standing in the aisle might have been a preventative measure. They didn't even notice that his agitated mood was perhaps from what he snorted. Does security protect the band(s), or both the band(s) and audience?

Paul Rodgers held his own - almost a 90 minute set and he still missed playing some of his great Bad Company songs like "Rock Steady" and "The Way I Choose" . Bachman-Turner played every hit that I knew, so overall, a pretty satisfying concert.

First of all, you have to understand the importance of this reunion. Randy Bachman and Fred Turner haven't been together in this capacity in 20 years give or take. This is a reunion that the die hard fans have been dreaming of for years. But, they are not just rehashing old songs. We were lucky enough to get a new album with a few great cuts! This show was amazing from the opening note of "Roll On Down The Highway" to the last beat of "Takin Care Of Business". They played every hit in between. Fred's voice is still there and Randy's playing has only improved. It gave me goosebumps to hear them together again. Simply put, this is a MUST SEE show for any BTO or Randy Bachman fan.

What a fun and great show. Randy Bachman and Fred turner still have it. They played all of BTO hits, along with American Woman. They also have a new CD out which they played a few songs,,,we were so impressed we bought the new CD. We go to several live shows a year, and this one ranks up high,,,especially with a smaller venue, and the sound and accoustics were great. Would definitely go see them again in the future!!

Spectacular night of blazing, guitar driven rock and roll!!! Foghat opened up with a killer set, Blue Oyster Cult was next up and , as always, delivered the goods. Bachman Turner headlined and they were tight. Amazing show by all 3 bands!!! I can't emphasize enough how great these guys sounded. There was a large crowd on hand and I think everyone went home happy.

Seeing pretty much any band for $28 bucks a head is a bargain, but when its 3 bands - AND the 3 bands are legends of rock - it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Foghat still has it...that driving rock that made them famous. After about an hour show with Foghat, it was hard to imagine that the night could get better, but it did. Blue Oyster Cult hit the stage next, sounding just like they did in the day. Watching them onstage reminded me of how musically intricate they are, especially when compared to the electronic-enhanced music of today. Their guitar work was outstanding, and the voices are still smooth as silk. Finally, Bachman & Turner took the stage. Although they were clearly older and moving a little slower, they still know how to rock. All in all, it was a great show!

And tons of people were walking out. They waited to the last two songs to play there power houses. Blue Oyster Cult engaged the crowed from start to finish. Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult were awesome. Same energy as from the 70's. Bachman Turner came out and we thought there was a sound system problem. Then realized it was their tired, feeble voices. The concert was fun, a great trip down memory lane, but Blue Oyster Cult could have been the headliner. We left early after BT got through only three songs.

Foghat came out strong and played all of their hits , played well to the crowd , and was impressive . I thought that Blue Oyster Cult didn't play up to a less than average set . I came mainly to see them , as I have seen them many years ago several times . Slightly disappointing . Bachman Turner Overdrive was AMAZING . The fact that the 2 main singers, Randy Bachman and Fred Turner can put so much energy into a set that included most of their hits , Takin care of business, Let it Ride , 4 wheel Drive , etc , and at their age . I had never seen BTO in the 1970s , the peak of the band's career . If you have a chance to see these bands , don't pass it up . You may bever get the chance again .

What a show!!! I really loved hearing my old favorite songs sung by the guys who made them famous! It was an awesome evening of music, the band was top notch. I was disappointed that they only played a total of 1 1/2 hrs of music, it was over way too soon. But they are old guys so I guess I understand that. The Ticketmaster website showed this was held in the ball room, so we didnt know the concert was going to be held outside until we got there. This was a bit of a surprise and we weren't prepared to sit outdoors. I had to purchase a sweatshirt at the gift shop in the casino so I wouldn't freeze, and luckily the weather held and it was really a nice evening for an outdoor concert. But I sure would have liked to have known that up front.

BACHMAN TURNER are great! Took my wife and my two teenage daughters and had a really great tume. My daughters are into this tyoe of music that I grew up with - I am 57 and have a 12 and 14 year old, who love this, as well as other types of music, including more contemporary hip hop. I must say that despite their ages - they really sound like they did decades ago. Wish there was more background video and more of a show like the beginning showing truck through the desert. GREAT PERFORMANCE! Well worth the price of admission.

I remember they came out during my freshman year at university in Toronto and they are the zeppelin of Canada. So when I learn that they are playing in Vegas, I have got to see them as I never had the money back in college days. Their music is still great and Randy Bachman's was a better guitarist than I had expected. What is truly surprising is they still can sing and their voices have not tarnished at all. It was to be their last concert for the summer so their age did show as there was no interaction with any band members and months on the road has taken it's toll on these seniors. One thing that did bother me is that they are performers and entertainers and a little more than a worn out t shirts and ill fitting jeans would show that they cared about their audiences. Jagger still look the same and Tyler tries hard, Page looks as good as any 60's+ can, so does rod Stewart, Joe Walsh, Lindsay Buckingham, roger waters and many many others. It would be great to see that they put in the extra effort, maybe on their tour next year?

Good grouping of bands, all of which were pumping out hard rock in the mid-1970's. Bachman & Turner and Blue Oyster Cult sounded great! Foghat played their hits, though the venue did not compliment their sound very well (it came off as loud, distorted noise). My biggest dissapointment was that, as the headliner, Bachman & Turner's set-list was shorter than that of other shows that I have seen them play, which was obviously the result of the promoter cramming 3 shows into a schedule that was best suited for only two.

Foghat opened with a soulful performance combining blues and that southern fried rock feel. Ending with a memorable performance of Slow Ride. Blue Oyster Cult music didn't translate as the best live music to me. To some, including my 21 year old daughter, they enjoyed BOC the best of all 3 bands. To me, other than Don't Fear the Reaper it wasn't a stand up and rock the house kind of performance. Richie Castellano is an amazing guitarist. BTO (Bachman Turner doOver) didn't disappoint. Opened with Let it Roll Down the Highway. Great experience as they played all the BTO favorites and even threw in some Guess Who. Voices have aged like us all, but the music is timeless. Ended with a crowd pleasing, crowd participation, Takin Care of Business. The crowd was up and helping with the lyrics. Music has a way of taking you back to a place in your life and BTO was a big part of that place. Randy using the drumstick to play guitar is great.

Generally, when a band opens for another act; it's usually because the following act is better. Not so in the case of Foghat opening the show for Blue Oyster Cult and Bachman-Turner. Foghat rocked! From everything to "I Just wanna Make Love to You", from "Fool for the City", and ending of course, with "Slow Ride". The entire crowd were on their feet! Blue Oyster Cult seemed to be somewhat of a let down. They appeared to be figuring out the set list as they performed. Perhaps, this was due to the fact that a new drummer from New York, was appearing with them for the first time. There were moments, during "Godzilla" and "Don't Fear the Reaper"' however; when the crowd appeared to enjoy it; but for the most part, it seemed to be a "lackluster" performance. When Bachman -Turner took the stage; Randy Bachman appeared to look tired or even ill. When he sang the first few songs, it sounded as if he had somewhat of a cold or sore throat. Nonetheless, the show went on and Bachman -Turner managed to prove to Central Ohio why they have been rocking for so long! The fierce lead guitar and drums in "Stayed Awake All Night", along with a blistering guitar solo played by Randy Bachman with a drumstick; mesmerized the crowd to the point of euphoria. They then tore into the infamous "American Woman", made famous when Randy Bachman was lead guitarist for the Guess Who back in the late 60's, early 70's. The entire crowd was singing and on their feet! Bachman-Turner hammered it home with "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"; "Let it Ride"; and three teasing starts of "Takin' Care of Business," as they ended the show with an audience sing along which definitely took care of business. They delivered a performance that was worthy of and one which earned them a standing ovation!

The reason I went ot this concert was because of Foghat, but BTO was again the better of the two, just like the Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat...the other band was better. Foghat was like at 1/2 volume and only a 40 minute set, just as you got comfortable it was over. Now BTO those guys really put on a great show and sound and volume was just right. People were really into them. BTO sounded as young as ever too! Hope your comeback is a doozy! Foghat I love ya, but you guys need work on sound and volume. Your drum used to go thru us and well as your guitars! I will keep going to your concerts too ;-)

Foghat was good but Bachman and Turner rocked out...these two guys are still fantasic after all these years. Turners voice is so authenic and Randy's guitar playing is unbelievable. I'm not sure why he has never been recognized as one of the top 20 guitar players in the rock n roll world. Personally I think he should be in the top 10 !!!!

My eighteen year old son observed that the bands of today couldn't hold a candle to the rock and roll bands of the 70's. I always want to hear more from Foghat, though.

I have always love this venue and attend several events a summer ..my only disappointment is that the shows always end so early - 10 pm is quite early considering that the fair noise itself continues on much later

Old school Rock with Bachman-Turner... very entertaining, band looked like they were enjoying themselves. They still rock 40 years later. Not the show for the kids, but us old rockers were dancing and singing. A beautiful night under the stars in the beautiful Pacific Amphitheater.

I love The Guess Who so obviously I enjoyed this concert. Bachman was amazing,so talented. They played all there big hits. The over 50 crowd was acting like they were in there 20's. Turner sounded great also. Highly recommend. Foghat had people on there feet too.. I would pay to see them again anytime.

Great night in So. Cal. The two bands were 'right on the money" It was a great time in an outdoor amphitheater on a balmy evening. The music was excellent and the bands were rocking. The frontman for Foghat was sexier than ever!

Foghat was pretty good, needed to be alot louder. Bachman-Turner had speaker system alot higher then Foghat when they came on stage. Over all performance by both bands was just ok for me. When both bands sang their big hits crowd got loud, both sounded great, otherwise is was really average night for me.

Foghat opened up to a thin Orange County Fairgrounds crowd. The sound seemed to be pretty tame than I remembered from last years concerts. It appears that the surrounding neighborhoods have won the battle of the bands. It was obvious when I saw a laptop near the sound mixing area monitoring the decibel level. Whenever the sound went over 100 dB's the screen would turn red. Otherwise Bachman-Turner sounded pretty good for their age !

BTO captures the timeless love of a true rocker for sending a special message thru his lyrics, then pounding that message home with a guitar which comes-to-a-life when the lights go on. The audience helplessly explodes with acceptance and the connection is made...forever, the musical message is embedded in your mind and you almost promise your soul, that you will never forget the experience.......

Bachman Turner was absolutely fanastic. The guitar playing was the best I have seen in a very long time. Off the hook incredible how they made the guitars sing. It was a different experience, much more mature crowd. Very refreshing though, no fights or fires or idiot drunks being escorted out. Just an adrenoline pumping fun time.

Randy played his guitar, like he was 20 years old, but with all the experience and talent, his guitar was walkin and talkin and screaming. They played a bunch of great hits. Could have played more hits. A couple songs were slow. American Woman was the best and the encore Taking care of Business rocked the amphitheater.

Tight musicianship from these veteran players and vocalists. Played their memorable songs along with some well placed not so recoginizable tunes that fit in nicely with the overall set list. Turner has not lost a lick on his gravelly vocal style and his six string bass playing was exceptional. Great combo to have Foghat open the show with their tight set of foot tapping rock hits!
