Great music all around. Miss the female vocals of Buena Vista CD. As far as live show: Supreme, if you are appreciative of the African influence. I, personally, would have enjoyed Toumani Diabate playin more of the Kora; (my being from Nashville, Tn. where we love our string instruments and all)! Also, disappointed that photo/video not allowed. Come on guys, move to the modern age of social network promotion! Speaking of commercialization, limited swag on sale. No T-shirts? Missing out on a good income producing part of the show! I would have bought one, already had the music! Sound engineers not near as good as Ryman Aud. Missed several key moments when show highlighted different musicians/instruments.

Wonderful blend of the two acoustic cultures. Mixing on lead guitar could have been a little softer though (Minor detail).

Real Afro cuban music held together prfectly. The only thing different I would have wanted was a couple of mote voices to harmonize on the African side.

The show was a rare, fantastic treat. Sadly I missed Buena Vista when they played Carnegie Hall in '98. I figured this would be the closest thing, the ONLY thing I could get that would be close to that. It was so much more than what I was looking for. It seemed the audience knew that they were getting a rare, hard to find treat that they might not get ever again. The musicians it seemed felt the same way. The audience simply would not let them go. A standing ovation led to an encore of two more songs and clearly Elliades Ochoa and his band as well as the Malian musicians felt the love. I am sure some in the audience were pining for the old times, and old timers of Buena Vista Social Club. Before "Al Vaivén De Mi Carreta" started, Elliades yelled out "arriba Cuba!" and the audience erupted. At one point between songs a woman called out for "Cuarto de Tula por favor!" Elliades Ochoa gave a knowing glance and raised up his hand, but it was a night for the Cubans and Malians to play together as originally intended. And they did! The addition of the Malians was a fantastic match and it meshed better than I could have expected. The entire show, you could see it on the faces of the musicians, and from the energy of the audience, everyone was taking in the special moment.

What a spectacular concert. The melding of the different cultures, their music, their instruments, their obvious companionship and respect, made for a heart pulsing, foot tapping, make's you want to stand up and dance, evening.

the blend of styles and instrments of two countries was astounding. it was enervating, moving and showcased talent that we just don't see often enough. best of all? they seemed to enjoy the music as much as the audience. no hint of the ego of so many performers today.

the music, a blend of Mali and Cuba, was beautiful. The musicians were incredible especially the percussionists. The seats in the second balcony were VERY uncomfortable. I would never sit there for a concert again. Also, there should have been a program and Cd sales.
