Nick Lowe was one of the best concerts I have attended in many years, and I have seen some amazing shows. His songwriting, singing, delivery and his band was spot on. They define less is more, with mature musicianship, and everyone playing on the same page. Nick is such an understated singer, and really delivered a strong set of past hits and new songs. He rally was mesmerizing and I cannot wait to see him again. Highly Recommend!!

A truly masterful show. I have never seen the producer of an album run sound for a show before but this shows the care of sound with which Nick Lowe approaches what he is doing. The banter, Nick's performance, the excellent side men. I am not sure if this show could have been better.

The ultimate gentleman of rock. Made the show seem line he was playing just for you. Allison was magical. Truly the Jesus of cool. A true professional.

Great show. Nick Lowe was engaging, funny and totally committed, and his band tight. His new stuff is legit and the classics sounded great. Eli Paperboy Reed made himself bunches of new fans with his opening set.

The April 29th Nick Lowe show at the Keswick was really terrific. He and his band were in great form and they mixed new and old music together brilliantly. We all liked Nick's new tunes, as well. Nick still has terrific vocal chops. Above all else, though, his professionalism and artistic strengths were on display all night. He came to play, to share and to create a great evening for his fans.

This performance FAR exceeded my expectations. Lowe took us from slow to fast, from gleeful to introspective, performing old favorites as well as new work. Excellent show.

Nick Lowe and his band exceeded all (high) expectations! I've been listening to and diggin' Nick Lowe for many many years, and had never had the opportunity to see him live. I arrived expecting a witty show, talented backup band and catchy pub-rock tunes, and he delivered. We got all that and more. We got an uncomplicated delivery from a TIGHT band, and Nick was in fine voice. During the last encore...a beautiful solo of Elvis Costello's Alison, you could hear a pin drop in the audience...for good reason. Just Nick accompanying himself on guitar was the one of the most beautiful live performances I've ever seen and heard.

Great show!! Nick has fabulous stage presence. He appreciates the crowd and knows how to entertain. He started out his set with a couple of solo acoustic numbers. Then the rest of the band joined him. He did a good mix of older material and songs from his new album The Old Magic. The last song before the encores was Peace, Love, and Understanding, a song he wrote but was made famous by Elvis Costello. For this song, he invited the opening act to join him on stage to play the song. It was an awesome rendition. He did two encores with the full band and then finished up with a solo acoustic version of Elvis Costello's Alison, a song that he produced.

OK, so I'll begin by saying that I bought the tickets before researching where Nick Lowe has been for the past few decades. I fell out of touch with his music a while back, but once-upon-a-time quite enjoyed him. After purchasing tickets, I started reading about him, and thought that perhaps I'd made a mistake. Not that I don't like a troubadour, but a few rock-and-roll songs are always in order, and I was afraid that would not be in the cards. Boy, was a wrong. Nick Lowe and His Most Excellent Band rocked the house! I absolutely adored the new stuff from "The Old Magic" and he played just enough old stuff to keep the crowd happy. His renditions of "I Knew The Bride," which I always associate with Dave Edmunds even though Nick Lowe wrote it, and Elvis Costello's "What's So Funny...." were fantastic.

Nick Lowe is the ultimate gentleman of rock. He personalizes his shows and makes you feel like he is playing just for you that night. I've seen him 3 times now (and will be present for every future show) and each show has been wonderful. I've left feeling I have been lifted and shared a wonderful evening with everyone present. The last song (Allison) was magical. He is the Jesus of cool!

Nick Lowe jokes that if you cut him open you would find one word inside him: Quality entertainment. Fortunately, cutting him open is unnecessary. Get the man's albums and see him live. It is quality entertainment, without question.

Completely stellar performance. Nick Lowe's voice is completely unchanged by time. Still a remarkable crooner. Loved every minute--sad when it ended.

Concert started pretty much in time. Lowe and band were first rate, with a good mix of his songs (and songs of others) from over the years. Concert had a very upbeat mood. Would highly recommend.

The sound at Town Hall is usually not very good for rock & roll shows. Maybe it depends on the seats, but for Nick Lowe it sounded muddy. Ive been to about 10 shows here over the years - and it has sounded good about 30% of the time. So avoid this venue unless you have no choice.

It would be easy to concentrate on Nick Lowe s past when reviewing his current live show, but his new CD The Old Magic shows him to be as sharp as ever. Lowe hit the stage on Thursday with a sharp four-piece band that has been with him over the last year as support act to Wilco and regaled us with songs old and new. Vintage Lowe favorites such as Peace, Love And Understanding were given a run out alongside the new album, which has received strong reviews. With such a large catalogue, there was something here for everyone, including those who came to hear vintage Nick or those only familiar with his more recent albums. We saw country-tinged Nick, and Rockpile Nick, (though nothing from the Little Village supergroup) but mostly we saw Nick the consummate entertainer. Clearly, he still enjoys doing what he does very much, and it comes across in his performances. Nick has finished shows on Elvis covers before, (notably Indoor Fireworks ) but tonite he gave us Alison in all it s soft glory as a final encore. All in all, this gent gave us a great show to remind us just why he has survived so long in the business.

I've never been to a Nick Lowe concert before, but have listened and loved him since the eighties. His voice still sounds full and rich. He can still shake that leg. I like his new music a lot, but, of course, he throws in a few oldies for the crowd - which seemed to be full of mostly oldies (people).

The opening act was Tift Merritt. With just one accompaniest, she was terrific. Nick Lowe started his show by playing some solo acoustic numbers. Once joined by his band, he rocked the house. His voice was great, and the band was tight. Younger bands should watch Nick Lowe to understand what it means to put on a show, as opposed to just playing random songs.

Wife and I last saw Nick at the Ritz in NYC in 80's. Longtime fan. He sounded wonderful. Great mix of the old and new material. The band was letter perfect. It was watching Nick Lowe in this tiny old theater outside of Philly that made the night special. He was all class, fun and quite the showman. He connected with the audience and hated to see it end. One of the best performances we've seen, hope he writes, records, and plays forever. We need more Nick.

I was not sure if one of my favorite rockers from the late 70s could still perform. It didn't take very long to answer when he came out solo with "Heart". What a mix - ballads & fast driviing rock, new and old. I hesitatingly brought my 16 year old daughter along - she loved the show. He tells a few funny stories as well, and has great respect for the audience.

Nick was in excellent voice and totally personable. His band was tight and spot on as far as replicating the sound and feel of his recorded body of work. The sound mix was excellent and i could understand all the lyrics which is one of the most appealing aspects of Nicks music,he being one of the best tunesmiths of the last 25 years or so.Their version of "Whats so Funny about Peace Love and Understanding " played almost as a hymn was truly moving as was Nicks solo rendition of "Allison" to close out the show. Bravo ! Mr Lowe. Thank You.

Nick Lowe was amazing. From the first two songs, which he did acoustically, to the last encore, Alison the show was great. The band was good, and it was a good mixture of new songs and songs we love. I will go see him anytime he is near us!!!

This is the third time I've seen Nick Lowe in just about as many years, and he never ceases to put on an amazing show. He's a consummate showman, effortlessly moving from song to song with a great backing band, and he's incredibly funny and charming as well. Plus, he never fails to perform "Cruel to Be Kind", even though he's probably sick to death of it.
