LCD Soundsystem

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT: Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

The show I attended was alright. The Hollywood Bowl is a nice outdoor music venue and it was my first time ever going, but it's not great to see live rock shows. They do rent out seat cushions for a dollar if you have a sensitive butt. The large crowds meant long lines for at the entrance and security checkpoint and at concessions. The YeahYeahYeahs performance was amazing, KarenO was lively and energetic on stage. The lighting was great and the video screens helped to make the performance great. The sound quality for the rock band just wasn't great though. Maybe it was because I was towards the middle back, but the sound wasn't great. Speakers should be set up higher into the audience area so I can FEEL the music. This is the reason I go to live concerts. LCD SS was just ok. They tend to play long drawn out music that takes forever to get to the point. Their sound is not bad if you just want something to mellow out to and have as background noise. The openers, Young Fathers, was a great band. I wasn't super impressed with their sound, but I'd see them again. Overall the show was great, especially the YYYs. It's not a bad place to see bands if you live in the area, but if you traveled from out of state, like I did, it may be worthwhile to just see them in a smaller venue.

Amazing...you cold tell that they were really jazzed to be there and to play with the YYY's for the first time. It was probably one of the best concerts I have been to. Was really looking forward to seeing them the next night...after the warm up on the first night.

The Greek is as good as an outdoor venue gets* we were on the first step up and the space couldn't have been better - great view and space to groove!! I was blown away by LCD in the fall ... and this one could've been better (i like the Greek waaaay more than Bill Graham). Good folks all around

LCD Soundsystem, still one of the best post-disco bands of the times. I think it's James's vulnerability that really attracts me to the music. Enough with irrelevant 90s rock storytelling, for those of us growing up while looking at ourselves and wondering if we've really got 'it', LCD Soundsystem sings our anthems. It's okay to embrace our vulnerability - expressing it is not weakness. You only have to see them on stage to believe it, one of the best shows of the year.

I'd heard that James Murphy puts on one of the best shows you'll ever see, so was really looking forward to LCD Soundsystem at Terminal 5 - and they beat my high expectations. He has an amazing energy level, makes it really personal, even to a sold-out show and with a big band behind him. Talent, energy, awesome music/beats make this show, no gimmicky effects. Loved loved loved it!!! Go - and have a blast!!!

Love LCD Soundsystem's music - listen to them all the time - and had high expectations for the show. Sadly was quite dissapointed. Firstly the venue was ueber-packed, as Terminal 5 often is, and sweltering hot. The temperature was almost unbearable. The band started late. The vocals were flat and strained. The synths were too loud. The cowbell was overused. There wasn't enough of a LIVE feel to it and the band's energy felt angry and introverted.

Both LCD Soundsystem and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were outstanding live, in terms of sound and stage presence. The problem was the venue: Unless you get really good seats, Hollywood Bowl is just too big for bands like this, where the energy is critical. We were in the upper section and the bands were just tiny specks. Compounding the matter, both bands had tons of lights flashing behind them that made it even harder to make out the actual performers. Normally, having screens would help people further away. But at this show the filming was from awkward angles (lead singers were probably visible, from the front, for about 2% of each show) and with frequent, jarring cuts. The screens actually distracted from what little of the show you could possible see. I'd recommend both bands for anyone who can see them in a smaller venue or who gets good seats. Otherwise, just listen to the albums and save your money.

The sound quality was atrocious, granted I have had the pleasure of attending the bowl multiple times and have had decent sound experiences before. With respect to quality, the bowl is certainly not an acoustic marvel, but the production of this show was not up to par with other experiences I had. For the first few songs of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs sound was in mono and most of the show the mids we're blown out, lows and highs were all over the place coming in and out throughout the concert. The monitors in the rear of the theater were not producing any sound. The sound issues seemed to be resolved the last few songs of LCD Sound Systems set. I'm not a sound engineer by any means, but I have seen The Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform before and know that what was produced is nothing near what they normally produce. Going forward I would be hesitant to attend another concert here

I've been to many concerts in my lifetime. If this concert was not the best, it definitely tied with the top concert I've been to! I watched Young Fathers on Youtube the week before (by opening another browser to setlist.fm to see what set they played at recent gigs)and was ready to enjoy what I would call, their alternative style of rap. I watched them from my seat in the 2nd to the last row of the bleachers dreaming of "If I was only in the pit right now!" I want to see them again for an hour set and just not 30 minutes. I also watched the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on Youtube the week before(by opening another browser to setlist.fm to check out their sets from recent gigs). What a show...60 minutes of alternative rock! I watched them from the walkway on the 3rd level, just outside the elevator with a nice pair of binoculars. Great performance which took me down memory lane. And I watched LCDSS from the same spot. They played 140 minute straight w/o an encore! I remember every minute of every song, as I was stone cold sober buzzing on coffee and germanium! Unbelievable performance by James Murphy and his crew! Do not miss LCDSS if you love their music. BTW, if you go to setlist.fm, you can view the set they did on Cinco De Mayo, and open another browser on youtube and watch live versions of those particular songs performed by LCDSS, The Gods of EDM! James Murphy: I sent you 5 letters! I hope to meet you someday!

I ve heard nothing but good things about the Hollywood Bowl. This venue is beautiful. I was so excited to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem in a paramount performance. I was left feeling a little disappointed. Opening band had sound on to the max, I could barely hear conversation over the blasting noise of Young Fathers. At least that meant the rest of the show would rock, right? Wrong. Yeah Yeah Yeahs had a great setlist, hit after hit... if you could hear them. Sound waved back and forth across sides, and sometimes muffled entirely. If I wanted to hear these songs as if an auxiliary cord wasn t quite plugged into the speaker, I could have stayed home. The opening band s sound was perfect if not a little much... did they blast something out? LCD Soundsystem was good, but I didn t feel like their set merited the closing spot. Plus, YYY have been around longer and had yet to play the Bowl. I m questioning the booking decisions here. Would this keep me from visiting the Bowl again? No, but I m bummed that this show missed a lot of marks for me throughout.

Really cool pairing at the Bowl. Unfortunately the Yeah Yeah Yeah's set seemed to suffer a bit from sub-par sound. For whatever reason LCD Soundsystem sounded much better and louder. Still, great show even from the "cheap" seats.

I enjoyed the LCD Soundsystem. This was my third time seeing them, and I think they need to bring on something new to their act - especially at a venue such at the 5-star Hollywood Bowl. For example, the crowd went wild at a cover of a Chic song. Maybe Nile Rodgers should have been there. Some day they need to bring on Daft Punk. LCD is James Murphy, and he was in fine form. Bottom line, I enjoy every performance at the Hollywood Bowl. The open air, the scenery, and the good vibes make all the shows that much more special.

I've been an avid Hollywood Bowl fan for a decade. Go to 3-4 concerts there a year and it's my favorite venue, but the sound for this show was awful. Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD sounded pitchy as if I was listening to them on AM radio. Might be the wind that night, but still was disappointing considering I paid good money to see two of my favorite bands.

Great show. An amazing range of music, with nods to Joy Division, Gang of Four, Kraftwork and more. Was blown away. They made a point of playing the longest set possible as allowed by the venue, right down to the last second as shown by a large digital clock that Murphy brought onto stage. Enjoyed the Greek Theater as a venue, down on the floor close to the stage. I've been seeing bands in small venues for nearly 40 years and this was for sure one of the best.

This was the first time I've seen a concert at the Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley and it was amazing. The sound quality was on point. The view was amazing and I wish I could have come back the following night to see the show again! I've been to countless festivals and concerts in genres' across the board, but this might honestly have been one of the top 5 concerts I've ever been too. It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge LCD Soundsystem fan. The only draw back is that in on the floor/standing room, my fiance and I tried to get a little closer and some lady literally asked us to not stand in an open area, because he friends were in the bathroom and she was "saving" the spots at a rock concert in the standing room only area! We tried to be respectful as possible and there was plenty of room, but it seemed pretty ridiculous to ask people to not have fun or dance at one of the most unique bands in modern history.

I've seen LCD SS like 6 or 7 times and it was just as epic at The Greek Theater in Berkeley as it was in Coachella a couple years back. There were times that were nearly spiritual. I joked that when I saw them at The Fillmore in SF (about 8 years ago) is the only time I wasn't buzzed at a show yet the show made me buzzed....but it was true. Same thing at The Greek, but I was hella buzzed, legally!

first time nobs for either LCD and / or the Agganis were in full attendance but with the amount of so called fans standing on the floor and not dancing gave the rest of us a lot of room to get down. Sound and lights were great from my spot on the floor but again with a lot of people standing around you could have gone further back to get a better view of the band if that's whats you're looking for. Security on the way was standard and I don't think they want to be physically pating anyone down anymore so it was just the wand and the honor system of "empty" your pockets. Bathroom, food and beer lines were of course long but if you simply walked in the opposite direction of the masses of people you'd find bathroom, food and beer lines with one or two people in them.

Incredible mix of songs from current and past albums with continuity segues like they were producing an album on the fly live. James Murphy was in fine form (and in good shape) leading the team, and there was plenty of low bass moments and heavy syncopated rhythms for dancing. An incredibly fun night, especially with the tight, talented opening band TV on the Radio. The Greek in Berkeley is by far my favorite venue -- incredible sound, good vibes, and aside from a few drunk idiots, a cool crowd.

This event was always gonna be awesome. If James Murphy had just rocked up drunk, blabbed into the mic, and then left, I still woulda been happy. I really liked that they played for 3.5 hours, and played all their best songs. I was kinda disappointed with the sound quality though. Sometimes I could barely make out the words, and the subtle synth sounds you hear on the albums were not present. I dunno if the acoustics of the venue had something to do with it? Also, I got there an hour before they started playing, and the best seat I could get was about 100 yards back, behind some fat headed statue of a man (honestly, how can you come to an LCD concert, and not be at least nodding your head, let alone flailing around like a crazy person). Despite these minor complaints above the show rocked. I consider myself very lucky to have seen them before they disappear forever.

LCD Soundsystem @ The Palladium was awesome. From the time we got to the venue to the time we drove away. The Palladium staff is always great; getting us through the doors was easy and fast. The opening band Holy Ghost were really good, the managed to get the crowd dancing and ready for LCD. We were definitely warmed up and ready by the time LCD came onstage. They just kicked our asses from beginning to end, the only problem was (and it doesn't affect my 5 star rating) their piano broke and they had trouble getting back to their set but once they got going again they just rocked. Mr. Murphy is a great front man, great interaction with the fans and had great chemistry with everybody on the stage. Awesome Show all around! As we were walking to our car we spotted James and walked over to him to ask for a picture, he was the nicest guy very humble and agreed to the picture without any hesitation whatsoever. This show was everything it was supposed to be...high energy, fun and danceable! While I question the order of their set list a bit, it was a solid show with more highs then lows. I was covered in sweat and exhausted afterwards. Although part of that had to do with the poor ventilation at the palladium....someone should look into that. We went just for the Yeah Yeah Yeah s, whom we have wanted to see for the longest time but have never had the chance. They were exceptional. Karen O has an amazing and melodious voice and can hit both the high notes and the screams. The set list was perfect and included all of my favorites. I also liked how they had the confetti and did more with the video than just show a live shot. I don t like that they were double billed with LCD Soundsystem because that made the concert too short (1-1/2 hours). I had never heard any LCD Soundsystem songs, so I checked them out on YouTube, but thought they were monotonous. I missed most of the opening act because I was waiting in line for drinks, but didn t like them either. We usually park at the zoo for Bowl concerts, but tried Hollywood and Highland so we could leave after the YYY s. We had to walk all over to find the orange court where the bus was parked, so we didn t have enough time to buy refreshments ahead of time. The walk back was pretty easy, even for my pregnant wife. Security was pretty good before the sun set, they were giving out tickets to everyone blowing smoke, but then they disappeared once the show started. I would highly recommend the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The bands were great. I'm glad the bands didn't allow the back speakers to be turned on because that would have been painful for me. I didn't know the bands but they were pretty amazing . I wished they showed the young fathers on the screen like they did with the other bands. My friend was mesmerized the entire time.

So Yeah Yeah Yeahs are amazing, as always, but from our seats(very far away fyi, in section S) the sound was awful! I'm not sure if that is typical or not, but the sound kept going in and out. Yet, for LCD Soundsystem this this wasn't an issue at all. Their set sounded awesome. Sound aside, both bands were great

The Bowl is always a super place to see a band - and the pure electronic sounds of LCD and the rockin' performance of YYY's was a great audio experience. I was dead center about half way up and the musical sound was amazing. Loved the YYY's coffetti shoots and the cool lighting of LCD as an added touch.

Great show. I just felt that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were rushed and could have sand more songs. I want to see them again. LCD Sound System was great. I only knew three of their songs though. My husband loved them.

Technically, I went to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and they were phenomenal, every screech, howl, yelp, and lyric was delivered masterfully by Karen O. FABOLOUS. The band always transitioning from the end of the song to another without stopping just continuous jamming. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. LCD Soundsystem played their 6 minute long songs very well.

The sound was terrible during the whole show. It sounded muffled and faded in and out. Very disappointing. Had to move down and stand to hear it a little bit better.

LCD Soundsystem at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans was amazing! The whole experience was fantastic - great sound, nice refurbished venue, well done lights, perfect setlist! This was truly one of the best of hundreds of shows that I have seen! Unforgettable night!

A few notes I cribbed together over the past couple of days: Venue: Spring for the good parking. In the rain, it was a godsend. Parking was the easiest I'd ever had to deal with at a venue EVER because of this. A suggestion for long-term happiness though: management needs to spring for a roof at that place. That was a lifesaver at the old Verizon ampitheater in San Antonio, especially with inclement or hot weather. We had the right clothes for it, but eventually got soaked anyway. Loved the variety of food and drinks at the venue. Artists: Missed Big Freedia by about 5 minutes, but we had a 90 minute drive to deal with and were coming straight from work. I'm sure we'll catch another show sometime. The DJ between sets was a goddamn hack, and I swear to god, the same song played for like 25 minutes. Guy couldn't mix to save his life--filtered the one channel and just slammed in the intro with no regard for phrasing on the outro but homeboy was still trying to fist pump and DJ pose. I know about 10 DJs in Austin alone who could've done better, easily with this guy's own tracks. The track selection was pretty much about the only thing saving this dude. LCD's show was goddamn amazing though. The zombie/prom thing was rad. The lights and sound were miraculous. LCD is one of the few bands who can sound better live, and they brought the fucking fire. Lots of ups and downs over the past month and the energy from the show really centered me again. It felt great to dance like a complete idiot and I completely forgot my pants and shoes were soaked. Really was an amazing night despite the pouring rain.

It was raining horribly and the concert still went on. The whole day I was waiting and checking my email in the hopes that the concert would be cancelled and we d be reimbursed. To be honest the only reason why we decided to go is because we didn t want the tickets to go to waste. We actually really enjoyed Big Freedia which is why we bought the tickets - just for the opening act but as soon as that was over we left. We were SOAKED and still the concert went on. The venue was so empty because people decided to forego their tickets due to the rain. Rain or shine tickets are bullshit!

With all the terrible music that comes out these days, LCD Soundsystem has given me hope again. It was honestly the best live performance I have seen in several years. The videos online of live performances do not do them justice. They sound so good, its unbelievable. Although this was my first time seeing them live, it will certainly not be my last. Picking out a show to see them next before this tour ends. Thank you James and the rest of LCD Soundsystem. Please do not stop.

Solid show with great song selection from the entire catalogue. The sound was amazing in this venue and the surrounding area is the perfect set up for a good time pre show. I've never heard this band sound better...fingers crossed they will return to Atlanta and choose the Roxy once again.

This was literally the best sounding concert I have ever been to. After James Murphy, the PA was the star of the show. It was the best show I have seen since the last time I saw LCD Soundsystem on the This is Happening tour. They played 5 new songs, at my recollection, and the best of the rest. I almost went back to see their 2nd night.

Amazing band. Sat up top at the Roxy and seats were good. Be careful buying seats on the side as they do have pillars that block views. LCD was great. Great sound, lights, everything was amazing. Went to both nights at the Coca-Cola Roxy in ATL and my only complaint is that they basically had the same setlist rather than mixing it up.

Anybody who attended this show was in for a REAL treat. I was worried that their dound would not carry in such a large venue, but boy was I wrong. It was just an Amazing. If it is in fact the last LCD show EVER, they pulled out all the stops and went out with a bang. I would give 6 stars if I could!!
