Holy Ghost!

Nu-disco powerhouse Holy Ghost! are masters of the arpeggio-driven Eurodisco revival currently holding sway in dance clubs around the world. Combining elements of Italo, Hi-NRG, and synthpop, the duo's glittering productions pay homage to underground '80s dance music without being stuck in the decade — top-notch modern production techniques and an ear for pop vocal hooks land bangers like "Hold My Breath" and  "Bridge and Tunnel" squarely in the new millennium. Hitting the road with a full backing band in support of 2013 sophomore album Dynamics, Holy Ghost! promise to inspire plenty of late night dancing on their 2014 tour dates.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Formed from the ashes of NYC hip hop group Automato, Holy Ghost! emerged in 2007 after founders Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel decided to pursue a poppier sound with vocals.

They're authentic, new, fresh, yet bring you back to 80's and a bit of disco times. It's love at first song for me. Really good live too. Make you feel like it's your party and thy're there for you. I see millions loving them in near future, glad I caught them in a tiny club just before that. :)

Holy Ghost! killed it the other night. Crowd went wild when "Do it Again" came on. Then the encore with "Dumb Disco Ideas" was pure bliss. One of my favorite shows of 2014 thus far.

As much as I like Holy Ghost!'s music, they are terrible live. They need to fire whoever sets up their sound at shows. Nick Millhiser's voice is constantly drowned out by the band. I don't recommend seeing them live.

Absolutely awesome line-up. Kid Mountain was a great opener and Joywave set the stage perfectly for Holy Ghost! to bring the house down. Had a blast!

Just a great freaking show. The band was having a great time. The lights on stage were amazing. And each song had you jumping. The crowd was having a great time! So worth the money!

Holy Ghost! was great. I love their records so much that I tried to keep my expectations low but they were excellent. The sound was amazing, the band was tight and engaging. Attendance was a little low but you really would not have known it from observing the band. They even commented that the audience was great and the best of their tour so far.

I discovered these guys as the opening act for "New Order" at the beginning of the summer. For the most part I tend to ignore opening acts, but with every song they played I kept going 'Wow, these guys are really good'. After the show though, I forgot to do any research and kind of lost track. I then rediscovered them when listening to Rhapsody's 'Best Electronic Music of 2013' mix list while on a road trip. The list had their latest single 'Dumb Disco Ideas' on it, and as soon as I heard it I said "Who IS this?!?" and kept it on repeat for a couple hours until I reached my destination. I then looked them up and conected the dots about them and New Order. Next day I bought both their CDs and loved them even more. I was hooked and to my pleasant surprise, found that they had an upcoming show in Philly. They were amazing. The crowd was so connected to the band, dancing singing and stomping along with every dance infected beat. It was one of the most enjoyable, cathartic, danceable concerts I'd seen in a long time. For those who were there, it was like a religious experience for people who love great dance music. Hope they come back to Philly VERY soon.

Ticketmaster should have informed purchasers IN ADVANCE that Holy Ghost would only be a DJ set. Wasn't listed on the event details at the time of purchase. I can hear a DJ play anywhere. Wouldn't have purchased tickets if I had known this would be the case.

So apparently I paid $42 to only get a DJ SET of Holy Ghost?!?! Entry was $25 at the door. WOuld have gladly paid that knowing any better. The bands playing earlier (Before 11 were way better but no one was there). Next time I'll use an AMEX and demand a refund.

I've always been a fan of Holy Ghost!, and to see them live in their full glory was a great experience. Every song that should be heard live off their debut LP (Except for "Some Children" w/ Mr. McDonald, unfortunate he wasn't there) was in the performance, and they were all catchy, fun to dance to, and gloriously recreated live. The two bands + DJ that came on before them were great, and got the crowd nice and ready for the main attraction. I'd love to see them live again at a larger venue... it would be insane.

Wow! Incredible Show! Now listening to their studio stuff, I can hear the true sound as intended by this fine set of artists. Great show, lots of passion and precise yet fluid artistry. Dig it!

Ok, I get that the ticket was only 12 bucks, but Holy Ghost! played one 45 minute set and called it a night. It's hardly worth my time. To be fair, the opening act (Jessica 6) was pretty awesome. However, listing the event time from 8 pm - 12 am is a little deceiving. We arrived to the show around 9 pm, and there was canned music playing. The opening act started around 9:30 or 9:45. Holy Ghost! went on at 11:15 (there was a pretty big gap between the opener and the headliner). Both groups were great when they were playing, but again, standing around and only getting an hour and a half of music from a 4 hour set is quite disappointing. It was nice to be introduced to a new group though (Jessica 6). Holy Ghost! opened for Cut Copy several months ago at Masquerade, and that's how I discovered them. On the up side, drinks at Masquerade are very reasonable, so we all got sloshed while we were standing around waiting for the show to begin.

They were incredibly hot, sizzling, and on fire. Panties were literally being thrown on the stage. It was spectacular!

Holy Ghost, Jessica 6, Midnight Magic, and Eli Escobar! What more can one ask for?! Best show I have been to in a very long time! Dancing the entire night to disco, pop, and electronic beats! All of these bands are must sees! Catch them whenever you can!

This one, like the set with James Murphy at Camp Bisco, rocked. Only complaint: They played for only a little more than one hour, maybe 1:15. That's too short. True, only one album but they should jam it out then.

I saw Holy Ghost! last summer when they opened up for Hot Chip. I knew I liked them but had NO IDEA how amazing they would be as headliners. (Their opening acts were also great.) Bottom line: hot lead singer + great music + loads of energy on stage and off + phenomenal venue = unbelievable concert

Holy Ghost! played their best set ever for a totally-into-it, dancing, singing-along audience. Can't wait for them to Do It Again.

A great dance sound and every song is a good one. Wish the set had been longer and on later. And want to hear "I Know, i Hear" sometime soon.

They played for 50 minutes- but Mercury Lounge isnt exactly a huge concert venue- so it was fine. They rocked- their music is fun and the guys arent too bad to look at either! Mercury Lounge drinks are always overpriced!!
