It was good but some of the loud noise was obnoxious. I got the point about being overwhelmed in a few seconds but the clanging and very harsh sounds were overdone. My teenage son covered his ears. The play was good. The book was better. We all agreed the next day that it was "good"

This was an excellent performance of a fantastic adaptation from a book! The expression of events left me with a much better understanding of what autistic individuals experience. I think everyone, even those who, like me, have worked with autistic and mentally disadvantaged people, should see this play.

Disturbing opening and shocking entrance. Subway scene was too loud and distracting. Positive possibilities for everyone.

I saw this play on Broadway last year and loved it. The Chicago production was good but for some reason seemed longer.

The book this was based on was very touching and I looked forward to seeing the production. First, the staging was excellent. The minimalist (but high tech) set effectively set the stage for the various locations in the story. The story itself was nicely translated to the stage. But the acting - not very strong. More than anything, I thought the English accents by the four leads were amateurish and took a lot away from the experience. Yes I know the story is let in England, but I wonder if it would be more effective if the actors would just use their own voices rather than strain to put on accents that they just couldn't do well.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was both the most bizarre show I've ever seen and the most FANTASTIC show I've ever seen. I'm not sure that I can even find the appropriate words to describe it. It was an explosion of the senses. Riveting, charming, sweet and engaging. The acting was superb, and it was an excellent execution of a wonderful book. This show is one that you shouldn't miss. It's no surprise it won the Best Play Tony of 2015. It was the best $25 I've ever spent. Many thanks to Broadway in Chicago for the $25 on 25 offer. I look forward to January 25th. My only criticism is that I wished the actors were mic'ed a little better. It was a little hard to hear at times.

Another couple had raved about this play, but intentionally omitted details, so we didn't quite know what to expect. Have to say that at first we weren't sure if we were too old (senior citizens) to appreciate the unusual staging. But fortunately, age was no barrier to be wowed. Very avant-garde in the set design and use of the many actors as "props". A very touching story and so uniquely presented. I would urge everyone to see it!

The storyline is a bit complex, yet still easy to follow. This was my teen son's first live play and he really enjoyed it as well. The set design was my favorite part, it was fairly simple but really delivered a strong message, and allow you to imagine what is like inside the mind of an autistic boy. There is a bit of british humor as well, which I like as well. Would recommend.

A bit slow in spots, but still very worthwhile. A good look into the mind of someone with autism, and the difficulties in parenting such a child. Great acting by the lead and his father. Great staging and choreography.

From the very start they turned everyone into a caricature, so they foreclosed the possibility of any true empathy. Rather than allowing Christopher to be an individual they turned him into an archetype of the autistic and his parents became similar archetypes of the bad parent and the good parent. Where the staging, choreography & integrated design might have served to communicate on a deeper level it often felt confused & never really reached it's full potential to express Christopher's interior world.

This show has all of the spectacle of a musical. The stage and lighting effects are amazing, but more importantly pushes the story foreard. It really puts you inside the mind of a young boy with autism who is trying to cope with adult circumstances. Whether you've read the book or not, it will make you laugh and cry. There are a few moments that seem to stretch out for the sake of showiness, and the stage effects seem superfluous. This contributes to the 2:45 runtime. Still, it has the rare quality that many shows do not: it builds empathy for not just the characters in the show, but for humanity. This show has heart!

Amazing staging and a different perspective make this play a must see. The star of the show gave us a glimpse of life inside the mind of a young man who is a math savant but who has serious a serious social disorder. So glad that we went! Very different and thought provoking.

All I could think when I walked into the theater with the disturbing opening set visible on stage is that "I hope there's a purpose for this". There was. This is a fascinating glimpse into the world of young Christopher with all of his special abilities and fears..

The lead actor did a great job with a strange play. Sitting around me, 4 people left at the intermission. I could not recomment this to others.

I saw the New York production in which Alex Sharp played the lead. It blew us away. The Chicago version is fine but neither the set nor the lead is as good and it effects the outcome. My 20 yo son gave it a C minus and my friend fell asleep and we were in the first row. It is a brilliant play but execution lacking. If you are not in the first few rows it will effect your enjoyment. There were many young children. Be aware there a moderate amount of cursing.

What a phenomenal show! I wasn't sure I was going to make it because of the weather (I live 3 hours away), but was so glad I did! The production was so different than any show I've seen. I can't wait to see it again!

I had read this book many years ago. I had no idea how this would work out in the theater. It was very helpful to have read the book ahead of time. There were some scenes that had very loud noise and lights. This really enhanced how a person with this disability sees the world. The acting was dead on to match the characters. For a non-musical play this was excellent.

This show was a very unique performance, different from anything else I have ever seen. The story basically is told from inside the mind of a intelligent savant who has major troubles coping in the real world. We therefore see the world through his eyes and through his feelings. Very moving.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-Time" is a great show! I will admit that it is long and does drag during the majority of act 1. However, the way in which the stage and technology are used throughout the show makes the experience that much more special.

There are few times in life, when art can make you change the way you think. This is one of them. Watching this show from the perspective of an autistic boy and his family, gave me more compassion, empathy, and understanding for those that live on the austistic spectrum. Highly recommend this show.

The newspaper article about this play made it seem interesting, even though it deals to some extent with math and I'm no genius at math. I took a chance and went to see it. Big mistake. I found myself daydreaming at times out of sheer boredom. There were some clever effects, but nothing worth making the play worthwhile for me. I should have left at intermission. Instead, I decided to stay and then regretted it. A waste of time for me.

Some books move us out of our comfort zone and make us see things in the world that we do not ordinarily perceive. Curious Incident was that kind of book. I couldn't imagine how that book could be converted to a play, but it was - and it was exceptional. We are seeing things from inside of the mind of a 15-year-old autistic boy. The staging, the directing, the acting - especially the actor who played Christopher (Benjamin Wheelwright at our performance) - were all brilliant. Brilliant! The intelligence with which the story and the topic were approached was as fine as I have ever seen in any play throughout my lifetime. I left the theater with so many emotions swirling and was still feeling mesmerized the next day. I would recommend it. I would see it again. One of the best plays I have ever seen. Hint: Stay until the VERY end.
