Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

New York indie-rock act Vampire Weekend's third album, Modern Vampires of the City, hit the streets in 2013 and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The feat was nothing new for the acclaimed young band, which also topped the chart with their preceding album, 2010's Contra. Ezra Koenig (lead vocals), Chris Baio (bass), Chris Tomso (drums), and Rostam Batmanglij (producer and multi-instrumentalist) formed Vampire Weekend while attending New York's Columbia University, and their fusing of alt-rock sensibilities with African rhythms and hooks was garnering plenty of attention long before they'd released their self-titled debut album in 2008 -- in fact, their first appearance on the cover of Spin magazine came before their first album hit stores.

Great set by an unforgettable band in a small little venue in Ojia. Really dug the early brunch time for the show and the bountiful covers they selected. Helluva a show!

What a treat!! Aside from an awesome concert in a tiny venue (so upclose), the band was amazing - not only did they donate a third of merchandise to Ojai relief efforts, they donated another chunk of merchandise proceeds to immigrant farm workers in Ventura. A band with a heart that truly cares. Spectacular on stage and love the Gerry Rafferty throw back!.. Oh yeah, and tickets were only $20! They did not do this concert for the money, but truly for the love of the art and we all embraced that! Vampire Weekend/Erza and company - rocks!! Much continued success to you!!

This was the last concert I'm seeing for my 4 shows in 8 days spend money on myself concert series... if you haven't seen VW in concert you are missing out is all I cna say. It is obvious from the moment they arrive on stage that they love fans and you are about to have a really good time. This show reaffirmed for me for another year of my life why I go to live shows.

Vampire Weekend was so amazing at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz! Yes, I have heard that the show was really short, but that is just because their songs are short. Their first cd is less than 40 minutes long. I really loved their show and they played every song I wanted to hear. They had great energy and I loved how they talked to the crowd! It was exciting to get a shout out to Santa Cruz since The Lost Boys helped inspire their name.

This band is absolutely awesome live. They sound impeccable! They also have a happy vibe that I love. Everything about them was great. I just so happened to be in the worst possible place in the crowed though, cuz a mosh pit broke out on top of me, I think it was during A-Punk. I don't go to metal shows for a reason!! It's one thing if your at a show where people fully know that this might happen and would even like to participate, but at Vampire Weekend it's fricken ridiculous! So if you see an even sorta upbeat band in Santa Cruz and don't want to get crushed, stand further back or sit in a balcony.

To begin with, This was the greatest show I've been to in my whole life. Vampire Weekend is now officially my favorite band. I was a little bit anxious to hear the songs from their new album because I was afraid of being disappointed. However, Vampire Weekend did not let me down. What also surprised me was that the two songs I usually don't listen to from the old album, sounded really-really sensational live. By the end of the show they had everyone dancing (even in the upstairs VIP area). I plan on going to see them again before they finish up this California tour. It is that much worth it. Honestly, this group is amazing live. A funny thing that caught my eye was that Rostam looked so bored while he played the keyboard. But, what the heck was up with the opening band?

this was such an amazing concert. The band was incredible and the lights were very impressive! The men were extremely charismatic performers. The set list was a great mix of new and old songs, all of which seemed to greatly impress the audience, including myself. i would have paid $80+ on top of the $20 i paid to see this show. No joke, it was that amazing. i am so glad to have gone to this and i would recommend it to anyone.

Wow. Four college guys from the University of Columbia came together to make some fantastic music in my hometown of Lafayette last night. Upon hearing that Vampire Weekend was coming to play at the Town Hall Theater, the world stopped for a second. I could not believe that such a big band would come to such an unorthodox location to play! I felt so blessed. Upon getting to the venue, I met my friends first in line, and we rushed to go to the front row. The freaking FRONT ROW of Vampire Weekend in a venue of less than 200! Does life get any sweeter? Ezra's voice is just unreal, and the rest of the band played so well and had so much energy that my friends and I had to get up and dance with the rest of the crowd! On top of that, Vampire Weekend played over half of their new album Contra! Holiday, White Sky, California English, and other new songs are even catchier and pleasing to the ear than their first album! That is what astounds me so much. My friends and I discussed how it would be impossible that Vampire Weekend could surpass their phenomenal debut album. Looks like we were wrong! I cannot wait to see them live again, and again, and again!

Vampire Weekend puts on *the* best shows, ever... They played both of their albums and even added a Bruce Springstein cover.... but, the venue, Soma, is absolutely the hottest and most humid, sweatiest, high-school-kid overrun, all ages venue in San Diego. My least favorite. Vampire Weekend, you're great. But please, next time you're in San Diego, please play at the Belly Up, Casbah, or Humphrey's... maybe even 4th & B.... anywhere but Soma.

Seeing a band which originated in NYC in Radio City was quite spectacular. Though many view Radio City Music Hall as hallowed ground, they treated it as their own personal living room with a few thousand guests, routinely telling the crowd to let go of their inhibitions and even suggesting certain dance moves to complement certain songs. What I liked the best was the fact that I was seeing a band at or near the top of it's game. It felt like what I imagine seeing the Police was back in 1978. A new sound that had broken free and caught on with much of the young listening public was staking its claim. My only negative is that they played the songs almost note for note from their albums, though in fairness the energy level was amped up tremendously thanks to the crowd which never sat down.

When I bought tickets for an outdoor show on August 31st, weather wasn't my biggest concern....it should have been. It poured but once Vampire Weekend went on it didn't matter. The show had so much energy. They played a great mix of older and newer songs, the only one they left out that I would have liked to hear was "The Kids Don't Stand a Chance". They had to cancel their Seattle show just two days earlier for health reasons but it didn't effect our show at all, they really put on an excellent show despite less than perfect conditions.

I thought the rain was miserable for the first hour, but when Beach House came on, it actually added to the mood of the music. I didnt care for the Dum Dum Girls, but Im glad I got to see them play. This was a great show at Edgefield! I thought it would sprinkle a bit, but wasn't expecting constant rain so we were a little caught off guard without rain gear. Still, we had a blast! I was honestly not a huge fan of Dum Dum Girls, but the crowd seemed to enjoy them. I had never heard of Beach House before, but liked their sound and they were entertaining to watch. However, Vampire Weekend put on a fantastic show! We had literally been standing in the pouring rain for 3-4 hours before they came on, but it was well worth the wait. Ezra's voice thankfully came back in full force and he sounded great! The guys obviously love what they do and it shows in their performance. I loved the chandeliers that hung above the stage and although their sound is more fitting for a bright, cheerful sunny day, it defininitely put an interesting twist on the show with the mood lighting and steady rain. This was our first time hearing VW live and I was very impressed! Great audience participation and overall it was a very cheery, high energy show. Highly recommended and will definitely be seeing them again!!!

It was a cold and rainy night when the Vampire Weekend came through town, but their music was uplifting and drove away the rain, for a moment anyway! Their energy was absolutely amazing and they played both their softer and louder songs. I was so happy that the band didn't focus mainly on playing their newest pieces but played the majority of their first CD. Little did I know when I bought my tickets for the Vampire Weekend concert months ago, that it would be the best concert I have ever been to thus far in my life. I knew they would be amazing, but this was incredible. I could not have been more caught up in that music; I was hypnotized. Let me just say, first off, that the Fox is an amazingly beautiful and ultra-cool venue, and if you have the chance to see a show there, DO. There is not a bad spot in the house. Vampire Weekend came out and oh lord, was this audience ready. They started with a bang with "Holiday" of their new (and fabulous) album, Contra. I listened to the music and let myself laugh and sing and dance and have absolutely no cares. They were an incredibly gracious group, as it was their last night of their American tour, and they thanked their crew and the Fox for everything. What a class act. Also, Ezra Koenig, you can call me any day. I'll be here when you want me. I still cannot believe it's over, which makes me sad, but I know now I will not pass up an opportunity to see them again.

Unforgettable. Price was perfect. Place was perfect. I was smack in front of Ezra, about 8 meters back. Was able to see the whole stage. Once they came on stage, they brought this relaxing joyous mood that really reflected everything they were about. Their music was very clear and damn, Ezra's voice was perfect! He even broke a string on his guitar during Mansard Roof. Sounded better than the album. Chris Baio owned the bass. I couldn't stop watching him strut around stage. Go see them. You won't regret it.

I've been a Vampire Weekend fan since the first week that their first album was released so seeing them in concert has been a long time coming. I was definitelty not disapointed. The opening act was no much to be desired, but Vampire Weekend definitely made up for them. They are undeniably amazing musicians, Ezra's voice is perfect and was exactly like it is on the record...flawless. They didnt even require a lot of crowd interaction to get everyone stirring. Two songs in and everyone was dancing and singing along. The stage decorations and lighting was just...great. I have been to 20+ concerts and have never had as much fun at one as I did seeing Vampire Weekend. I will go back again and again and again. Phenomenal.

When I first found out they were coming to Chicago, I made sure to get dance/ga tickets because the view from other seats suck. The staff was very nice and telling us before hand what was prohibited inside and giving us out bracelets for dance floor seating etc. I felt kinda bad for the opening act (Cults) because the acoustics were terrible and you couldn't understand a word she was singing. Vampire Weekend was unbelievable! Their choice of songs were on point and always kept the energy. Sure there was the typical drunk people and the ones that push to try to get in front of you but it was so worth it. Ezra is the bae.

My first concert, and I didn't know what to expect. Opening band Cults was pretty good, and then Vampire Weekend was just awesome. Ezra Koenig's voice sounds just as good live as it sounds in the studio. Lights were awesome, and they had some floral print, which was pretty great. Solange opened the concert and really engaged the crowd. Her band and back up singers were also extremely talented and fun to watch. Her set was just the right length. I do wish that the down time between the opening acts and the lead act was a bit shorter. I do understand that the break down of one act and the set up of the next takes time, but we felt we waited longer than usual for Vampire Weekend to start. The sounds system is excellent at the Barclays Center so we were able to hear all of the instruments and both Solange's voice and the band members of Vampire Weekend. There were concerns regarding the large tv screens projecting close ups of the artists as the screens began to sway quite far back and forth over the audience. It took several minutes for Barclays Center staff to fix this problem. Overall we greatly enjoyed Vampire Weekends enthusiastic concert.

Sounds so much better live ( not that the audio version is anything less then amazing) I DEFINITELY recommend this show to anyone who is considering it!

This was a perfect fall evening show. The bands were great, and the weather was amazing. Vampire Weekend played many songs we know, and even took time to talk about a couple. I recommend this band to anyone that loves this sound.

Booked purely on the fact they were playing in Orlando during our hols, had heard a couple of their singles but bought the albums ahead of the concert. The albums were OK, but LIVE they were awesome, got a good hour and 45 mins of pretty constant music, great performers tight as a drum and the vocalist was spot on. Venue really good whether in the seats or the pit, fantastic night!

I loved the venue but the band didn't put on an unforgettable show. They didn't engage the crowd very often, they didn't rework their songs very much, they didn't play any covers, they didn't play a single new song. It felt a little phoned in to be honest. They played with energy and sounded good but nothing about the show felt special. I still had a good time, still love the music.

This is one of my favorite bands and they did not dissapoint. They are awsome live in a time when so many bands suck at their shows. Every note every chord and drumbeat sounds as good as their album and they have a great show. I would have like to have seen some covers, but they did slow down taxi cab and that was different. Love it and would go to it again tomorrow if I could

Thanks to an alert from Ticketmaster, I was able to buy tickets to this show through a presale. My seats were in the "pit," one row back from the stage." Awesome view, awesome music. The audience added to the performance with their enthusiasm for the music.

The band was great, there are few bands that play live exactly like or better than their album with all the production tricks. Tons of energy and their setlist was excellent. The downside was the venue, red hat is in the heart of Raleigh and the surroundings are beautiful but the overall venue seems "cheap." The views aren't the best and it just didn't feel like a uniform crowd watching the show like I've felt in other venues. Cults were great as well!

Love getting out to the amphitheater this time of year. Weather was great, venue is terrific. Didn't know much about Vampire Weekend coming into this. They were good but honestly I didn't even notice what they were playing most of the time. Just was having fun being outside with friends. Be warned that beers are up to $10 now.

Venue was great and the weather was perfect. Too bad the ban mailed it in, they play for less than an hour and fifteen minutes. Won't see them again.

The venue was great! I loved being near the water. Sound was good. Vampire Weekend killed it as usual! I've seen them once before in Milwaukee and this time was just as good. They play a great mix off of all their albums and are sweet to the audience. I wish they would have played a longer set though. Didn't stop dancing the whole time!

This is the second time I've seen Vampire Weekend so I'm a little biased but the band is definitely suited for playing outdoors in front of a beautiful Lake Erie sunset.

Starting with the opening act, they were OK, not the best. It took a while to set up between the acts, about and hour and a half. Definitely the best convert I have been to. Great set list and very exciting.

This concert was fantastic. I have waited so long for VW to come to Buffalo and it was well worth the wait. Their choice of songs to play was right on, and they chose songs from each of their three albums. Their enthusiasm and talent is superb!

Vampire Weekend was able to warm up the crowd on a cool Spring evening. Putting on a strong and spirited one-hour and twenty minute set with virtually no break, Vampire Weekend get the crowd going. They opened strong and built as the show went on ending with the always appreciated Leaving Cape Cod... Everyone left satisfied with Vampire Weekend!

This show was as amazing as I excpect. This is my second Vampire Weekend concert but my first time at the UIC Pavilion. It is a nice place for a concert and the staff is really friendly and nice. The pavilion is a decent size. I was in the "DANCE" standing section and it was packed but still spacious which was really nice.

Vampire Weekend was an amazing show. I have been a fan for years and couldn't wait to finally see them live. They lived up to the hype and sounded as good live as they do on their recordings. I gave the show 4 stars instead of 5 because their opener was pretty terrible. It was more screeching than singing. We were very relieved when Vampire Weekend took the stage.

We try to get to see one "new" band a season and Vampire Weekend did not disappoint us. They played songs off all three of their albums and the variety made for a great evening. The quality of the sound system and vocals was amazing. We would definitely see them again if they return to Michigan.
