Brett is an easy fella to love and his live show at House of Blues, New Orleans did not disappoint. Lily & Madeline (the opening act- sisters/singers/musicians) were lovely and talented. Brett & his band were so into the music, the crowd couldn't help but dance & sing along with every song. Our fourth time catching him live-- the Parish Room was a really unique venue. This Monday-night crowd loved him!

Grace Potter was an excellent opening act! She Excited the crowd and got us excited about the Main Event. Brett was fan-freakin-tastic, addressed the issue of something beyond himself to the Crowd with the (Red) cause. He is a real musician who enjoys hie music as much as everyone else. Great preformer, loved the facial expressions and dancing. A+

First time I've like the supporting act better than the headlining act. Grace Potter & the Nocturnals were amazing. Grace's voice blew me away! The crowd enjoyed Brett.

The concert opened up with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, they brought the energy and got the crowd excited. Grace has an amazing voice and the band is all talented musicians. Then Brett came on with his genuine unique voice and crazy dancing. He sang all my favorite songs. The concert was perfect and I will forever be a Brett fan. :)

My first concert at House of Blues and I wouldn't have wanted it to be anyone else. Good times. He's a crazy little guy and I loved it. He played 4 of my 5 favorite songs of his. I was hoping he'd play San Francisco and he played it second. Very enjoyable. Went home very happy. It was a memorable night.

Once again, Brett Dennen stunned the crowd. The House of Blues - Chicago is a great venue for an up and coming artist like Dennen. Brett, who plays every song with heart and emotion, simply takes over the crowd with his love and passion for music. I would tell anybody who enjoys live performances(Folk, Pop, Rock) to check out BD!!!

I went to see Brett Dennen and was absolutely blown away by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Unbelievable. Brett was on point as usual though, aside from the overtly sexual and bizarre dance moves. Perhaps with losing all the weight he finds himself sexy now nonetheless one of my favorite performers. Keep doing your thing Brett, Grace Potter I'll see you next time you're in Chicago.

By far, the WORST show I've ever attended. Rotten tomatoes to the whole performance. I only regret that I have to give him one star as zero stars isn't an option. I love Brett Dennen's music: the lyrics are meaningful and his voice is unique. I attended his concert at the Beachland Ballroom in Euclid, OH last winter and loved every second of the concert, but the show I saw at the House of Blues in Cleveland was a totally different story. Brett's weight loss was the first noticeable difference; if it's an intentional attempt to be more healthy I applaud him. The second noticeable difference was his inability to hit certain notes in his music or to project those notes with his usual bravado. At this point, I was willing to say "he's having an off night--it happens to everyone and I'm willing to cut him a little slack". But then came the weird hand gestures, the uncalculated movements all over the stage where he's practically knocking things over, the awkward conversations with the audience: now I felt uncomfortable. Was he trying to be something he isn't by entertaining instead of singing? Was he drunk or high? Then came the final straw for me, when he's telling the audience "Repeat after me" followed by the weirdest bunch of crap that I've ever seen or heard. I didn't come to hear the audience sing "Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo", "aah, aah, aah, ahh". Put your shoes on. stay at the microphone, and sing Mr. Dennen. If you're drinking, sober up; if you're getting stoned, go get help; if you're trying to play to the audience more, just sing--that's all that you audience wants from you. Lousy singing, stage performance remeniscent of junior high school, and just plain bizzare behavior on the part of Mr. Dennen. He's no longer on my "favorites" list and I won't be back to any of his future concerts. I'm so disappointed in him. On a positive note, his band was right on the money and kept things moving for what must have been a very uncomfortable time for them. Please relay my deepest sympathy to them for having to live through such humiliation.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are a high-energy band with awesome songs - why were they the warm-up group? If you have never seen or heard of them, you are missing out. What an incredible bunch of musicians!! The only reason I give 4 stars is because A) they should have been the main act and B) you could not hear Grace sing when she moved over to play the organ. The four stars are all for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals!

We drove almost three hours to attend the show, and were not disappointed. You never know what to expect of an opening act, but we were blown away by Grace potter and the Nocturnals. We had high expectations of Brett Dennen and he more than lived up to them. His music is a terrific combination of conscience, melody and a beat that keeps you moving as you absorb the lyrics.

The show was absolutely incredible!! No other way to describe it really. Me and my friends got there early to get front row, and we were absolutely blown away. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are great performers and so passionate about what they're doing. It puts you in a trance and completely engulfs you. Brett Dennen and his band were amazing of course too, as always. They actually hung out in the parking lot after the show and talked with fans. Foy Vance opened and "Be the Song" was and is awesome. Brett sounded great and performed ok, but fell short in showing appreciation for his supporters. He literally sang every song without saying a word to the patrons and turned his back in between each song. Everyone has moments, but it would have taken only a couple seconds of BS thankfulness to make paying fans feel valued.

Having seen Brett perform as a solo act, I was particularly impressed with how well he used his band. Never did the band's power overshadow the lyrical content. Never did the music seem disconnected from the lyrical direction of each song. Brett is a brilliant communicator. He becomes the lyrics of each song and he drew me in from the first syllable of the night and never once faltered. His focus was laser-like in its intensity, but natural and unforced. What can I say about his songs? They're brilliant and instant classics. His new material blew me away and his old material was played with the commitment of an artist that writes relevant material, and is just as alive today as it was when it was first written. Brett Dennen is becoming the voice of the underdog, the Dylan of the New Age, and I can't wait to see him when he comes back again!

I left after an hour. The band sounded pretty decent but Dennen has no rapport with audience and every song sounded the same. I only went to see Foy Vance, the opener, who I have seen twice before and he is amazing! We got screwed because the drive from Providence to Boston took almost three hours and we completely missed Foy. I'll never try to get up there on a Friday again.

From the wonderful Carolina Theatre to the final note, it was a fantastic evening! I can't stress enough how great the sound is in this venue. I have heard so many great musicians in poor sounding venues and it ruins the show. Not the case here. Brett was great from start to finish. After the show I searched his website for his next show and saw that he is playing almost every night from now through the end of May! If he can bring it every night like he did on Monday, you are in for a treat! All the musicians are extremely talented and had a very tight sound.

Foy Vance was unknown to me prior to this show and he blew me away. His voice was amazing and soulful. Brett has a very particular stage presence that reminds you to have fun with life and not to take things too seriously while his lyrics remind you that there are things worth fighting for. He is a marvelous entertainer and seems like the type of guy with whom you would love to sit down and discuss life over a beer.

What can I say, it was Brett Dennen and he was fabulous! But the better story is, this was the first date for my wife and I, opps gave away the ending. Dennen seemed a bit distracted when first entering the stage with his 4 man band backing him up, but after a few songs the concert really took off! The set list was completely improvised and what song to play next were decided on stage. The concert lasted for almost two hours and after two solo songs by Brett the band re-united for a powerful grand finale. Brett Dennen really knows how to entertain an audience and he really put off a show, you must see him live!

Songs 1-3 were great...typical Brett in eccentric fashion. However, he admittedly lost his voice and crapped it up for the remainder or the show. I would love to see him again when his voice is 100%, because I know he is a great singer and his performances are very entertaining.

In my opinion, the best part of this show was the opening act, Blind Pilot. They sounded excellent, with tight harmonies a wide range of emotions in their 45 minute set. Brett Dennen also performed well, given that he was feeling under the weather from lots of recent touring and was beginning to lose his voice.

I have already written to Brett's management team, commending him on a brilliant show under the toughest of circumstances. In the face of a sore throat, the ultimate gotcha for a singer with such a fantastic voice, Brett soldiered through and gave the most gutsy vulnerable performance ever! Because his voice was touch-and-go, we were treated to an impromptu acoustic part of the set. Not only did Brett not knock off early, he gave a long encore and played over an hour and a half. Way to go Brett! This is why we love you!

This was my first time attending a Brett Dennen concert, and I had a wonderful time. The opening acts, Evan Watson and Eric Hutchinson, were both very entertaining, but Brett took it to another level. He started the concert with some good news: his flight got cancelled, so we got a little longer of a show than planned. He played a great set, was very funny in between songs, rocked out on the guitar, and busted out some pretty sweet dance moves, all while barefoot! He came out after the show to greet fans, take pictures, and sign autographs. He was very personable, and I definitely recommend his show. I cannot wait to see him again.

Love Brett and Love the Neptune. Saw David Crosby there last year and was blown away. So when this show came on sale I jumped. However, sitting front and center in the balcony, the drums were so loud the bass drum distorted and overall it drowned out Brett's unique voice and the fine guitar and keyboards. I was very disappointed it wasn't adjusted after the first song or two. I'm not a sound engineer by any means, but I wasn't alone when I tried to call out "lower the drums" several times between songs, and was encouraged by those sitting around me. I regret not getting out of my seat and walking downstairs to the mixer and ask if the drums could be turned down just a little. Perhaps there was a reason? Maybe it didn't sound the same downstairs as up, but the Neptune isn't a very big place, which is one of the reasons I like it. Maybe Brett was a little worn out at the end of their 30 day tour? But it was disappointing to not hear his well-written and beautifully sung words, unlike the first time I saw him at the Moore Theater when he sounded just like his CDs. Would I go again? Probably!

Brett was fantastic. His relaxed demeanor, thoughtful and impactful lyrics and gentle calming style totally captivated the hugely mixed age range of the crowd. Brett even took the time to engage with some really young fans in with their dad. The sound at the Neptune was really good. Some venues like this echo badly, but not here. A great show all round from the opening act to the encore.

I love venues that are intimate, unique, and give you a chance to really see the artist performing. I hate massive concerts where you have to watch a big screen just o get a glimpse. These old theaters within cities are gems, not to be forgotten. The decision to renovate and reopen the Neptune was great, I'll be looking for more concerts to see here, just to experience the vibe. Bett Dennan: if you know his music and enjoy his style, he is amazing. He's truly talented, and fun to watch. He has fun with the audience, and he made sure to say hello to these sweet little boys who attended his show. He seems real and kind, it was a pleasure to watch him perform.

I have seen Brett Dennen over 6 times in various venues. I'm a huge fan, so when I got to the Somerville Theatre I was a little worried because there wasn't a clear place to dance with the music and fully enjoy the experience. So I danced anyways... and got reprimanded for it. Until the end, when a huge group of us went to the front and suddenly it wasn't an issue any more. I wish I could have seen him somewhere that does his incredible music justice.

Brett Dennen as always was first rate. I love him and his music. The sound system was mediocre. Bass too loud and vocals too soft. Sounded like a highschool gymnasium. But worst of worst: 3 young women danced in the aisle blocking my view of Brett. I was furious and management didn't handle it. It's one thing to have dancing up front next to the stage where the audience can still see the act. I paid good money for a specific seat and those insensiitve women ruined the experience for me. I found myself furious when all I wanted was to enjoy the treat of seeing Brett in concert.

We were not told that it was 21+ so we had a bit of trouble getting in, but they finally allowed us to go in. The Tralf venue is pretty dark but in a good way, and it was a nice surprise to have seating available. The opener, Andrew Belle, was pretty good, but less energetic. Once Brett and his crew came on, more people came to dance in front of the stage. Music was as great as expected, and later Brett came on to do some solo acoustic stuff.

A cool little venue with some lounging chairs and benches surrounding a large dance floor with bar upper level. Opening act was Willy Tea and a few songs were really good, brought the vibe down a bit with his darker stuff but lightened it up at the end. Brett played solo acoustic for the 1.5 hours and went by too fast. Would have liked to see him longer. Look forward to seeing Brett again!

The acoustic mix could have been improved. Vocals were drowned out by instruments

Brett Dennen is a polished musician and sounds very good live. The band was great that backed him up. The music just didn't get old. You can tell he is a great dude.

Absolutely loved this performance. This was my first time seeing Brett Dennen in concert. I didn't know any of his songs but a friend of mine urged me to go. I am SO glad I was able to see such an amazing show. Brett has moved to my top 10 list of live performances.

i'm a concert snob and there are few people i'll pay money to see. i'd never seen brett in concert before so i was super excited and had high expectations...he certainly did not disappoint!!! i'm more in love with his music than i have been over the past 6 years since i first (and thankfully) stumbled upon him. his music is ridiculously good and even more fun to listen to while watching him. :)

I had never heard of the opening band Blind Pilot, but they were really good. Loved their music and you could tell the band did too. Brett Dennon was excellent. His charm & charisma make his show one of a kind! Would see him again & again! Proud to wear his concert T-shirt & tell my friends who don't know him what they're missing out on!

The vocal acoustics for Blind Pilot were amazing!!! They sounded just like their album... but then Brett got up and I could hardly understand any of his lyrics. So I don't know if it was poor equipment adjustment, or if he just doesn't sound as good live or what. Overall though I loved the show!!!!

i loved the Brett Dennen concert - I just discovered him about 3 weeks before the concert - heard a familiar tune on the radio and announcer credited him. I ordered 3 CDs right away and couldn't stop listening. Where has he been all my life? He was wonderful in concert and played almost all my favorites and there are so many. Many fans singing along with his awesome lyrics was special too.

This is the fifth time I have seen Brett in concert. He gets better every time. He is more comfortable performing now and gives a great show. He means every word he sings.

Awesome night! Brett wow us with his new stuff and added enough of his old songs (not that any are that old) to make a great mix. Band was also sweet!

Opening act Dawes was excellent, and Brett Dennen was phenomenal. Came a long way for the show with my four year old daughter and it was well worth it.

Brett Dennen is a great dancer and is a phenomenal guitarist. The Fox Theater is a fantastic place to see a concert - or even the City of Oakland's Inauguration Festivities.
