Kassav

I didn't know what to expect since the last time I saw Kassav was more than 25 years ago. Also, I had never been to the Howard Theater. I have to say that my family and I were impressed by the venue. It was comfortable, intimate, and beautiful. The music prior to the concert was kind of a weird mix, but it all contributed to the ambiance. The food was reasonably price, the service was a little shaky once the concert started, but that was understandable. As for Kassav, they were out of this world. They still have it. They worked the crowd from beginning to end. They kept the audience entertained and moving. Most of us (concert goers) were soaked when the concert was done -- because we were all dancing nonstop :)

Best concert ever. Worth the price. Amazing group. I would recommend this concert to anyone who knows kassav or anyone who loves great music. We were all dancing from start to finish. They interact with the audience all long and are just great performers.

The show was great as always. The only glitch was that they did not play as long as they are used to like their previous concerts I have attended.

It was 1 of the best shows, it was a must see & go events. T-VICE was amazing , and kassav killed it at the end. I had a great great time. Hope to see kassav again. Please visit again soon.

the show started to late .T-vice was too loud, the sound was poor.But overall it was a good show ..good people

OUT of this world amazing, breathtaking, spectacular, almost lose my breath happy, just glorious. I love the entire event, T-Vice appreciate them so much, and surprise by Wyclef's visit icing on the cake and oh my God waited my entire life for KASSAV, everyone look amazing after all these years, strong, vivacious, explosive, I just couldn't get enough, I will come for some more on Wednesday at SOB bought my ticket already.

It was a blast. The crowd was a great mixture of Caribbean people from all over.

I wasn't too familiar with Tvice, but they did well with the konpa...and of course great eye candy. Kassav really brought the house down. the choreography, drums and oldies but goodies were incomparable. So proud of my French caribbean heritage and music. Looking forward to next year. By the way promotion needs to expand to the outer boroughs, ie Brooklyn and Queens

T vice was great and so was Kassav. There were just toooooo many people who were constantly moving. We left early because of the enormous crowd.

I have loved Kassav since I first heard them in the late 1980' on their LP (yes, vinyl) Vini Pou, and then their magnificent live double album recorded at the Zenith in Paris. Even though I did not understand a word they were singing, it was just so joyful. Even without translation, the idea that zouk means party radiated through the music. I had seen them live 4 times since, and the sound systems at each of the venues was always dreadful, draining most of the joy out of seeing them. The last time, a few years back at the Hammerstein Ballroom I actually walked out in the middle. I ran into a sound techie who told me that their plane had been delayed, so that the group went on without having done a sound check. It was painful. I therefore knew I was taking a chance going to see them in what was essentially a converted warehouse. The show was great! Even though the overmodulated bass muffled the beauty of the voices and overpowered the keyboards, and despite having only two brass pieces instead of five, the experience was sheer exuberance. 2000 french speaking black folks, and me. (I didn't see another white face in the place, other than Terminal 5 stagehands.) I still didn't understand a word, but everyone jumping up and down during the non-stop 90 minute set; people from Haiti,Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, French Africa. And I was jumping up and down with them. How sad that so few other white Americans know about this group which packs stadiums in French speaking lands.

The event was from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and was advertised as Kassav and T-Vice. From 9:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m. we were treated to recorded/hi-fi music. From 11-12 T-Vice; 12-12:30 recorded music and 12:30 - (I left at 1:45) Kassav. While the event was good I expected more live music.

T-Vice was great as usual. It was my first time seeing Kassav. My family is Hatian. I grew up hearing there music so to see them going strong 30 years later was awesome! Thy can realte to so many of us. There were So many nationalities able to come together too celebrate them. Boy can they put on a show! They truly resemble a family out there having fun; that contributed to there cohesiveness and ability to show cad e the many talents of the group resulting in a great show. The show was a little shorter than we all expected but I enjoyed!

I am going to be honest. I am not a big fan of Kassav. I actually do not even understand french. the Energy that these performers created within that building was electric. I was not able to follow along with the words but the vibe that they created was truly amazing. The trip to this show was a gift to my wife. I hope she really enjoyed herself..

Wonderful and energetic performance. I was moved seeing Kassav on stage. They were amazing. T-Vice was a great opening act.

Everything was lit! It was a fun experience!!!!! And I liked all the music from start to finish.

I have friends who have performed as part of this band in the past! I am honored to see the work they would have produced and how much fun they were having while at it. Kassav is a force to be reckoned with! They were way beyond my expectations! I totally enjoyed the entire repertoire and the overall presentation. A must see! Experience Kassav!

The crowd was so engaged as they listened to one of the best French Caribbean music group of all time. The performers interacted with the crowd in such a nice manner, speaking both native french creole, french and even english. Their performance was nothing short of amazing.

The Kassav Concert at the Howard Theater in Washington, D.C. was more than a concert.. It was a throw-down dance party...Rete, Siwo, Yelele.. Oh Wow!!! Kassav's Zouk Music is really the only medicine we need indeed. Long live Jocelyne. We need more North American tours in other cities next year.

The concert was great. They played some of their top hits and kept us dancing.

I didn't expect anything less from them and they delivered as always. It was electrifying, unforgettable, and outstanding !

One of the best entertainment I've attended at the Howard Theater this year. It was electrifying, engaging and just Wow.....! I wish they can come every six month and play at different venues, to include weekends if possible; in the metro area (DC, MD and VA) to give more people to a chance to attend their performance again. I truly enjoyed their artistic spirit which they shared generously; showing the audience their long-standing and well appreciated performance.......THANK YOU AND COME AGAIN, PLEASE:(

I've been to many concerts... Big to smaller ones. Kassav was the best one I ever went to hands down!!! I couldn't stop dancing and it made me warm inside because of songs reminding me of my wonderful happy childhood. It was AWESOME!! I'll go see them every time they'll perform in the area for sure. I couldn't believe the energy they had. They are about 30-40 years older than me and I was getting tired before them lol... Must do at least once in your lifetime!! ❤️ Them!

the performance and the sound were great. The stage the sights were on point. The band was very professional because the show started on time and performed non stop .

As always, Kassav delivered a nice performance. I never thought I would one see them, since there are my mother's and grandpa generation. I enjoyed every second of it and I would attend any concert that they have in my area.

I have been listening to kassav my whole life it was always a dream to see them in concert They where awesome I would love to see them again

Wonderful Performance last Saturday at Terminal 5 The band played all the favorite songs. They really got us going all thoughout the show, bringing us back to the good old days. Thank You Kassav. Make sure to book VIP as you are very closed to the bar and the bathroom . You are able to seat or dance at your leisure. Believe me you won't regret it. :)

I've been listening to Kassav since i was little. i had no idea a live performance would be so much fun! Extra-ordinary! the worst thing about that night was the understocked bar. Their fans were well represented from all over, a very diverse crowd. I cant wait to be able to see them again.

This event started over one hour and a half late with very little apology from the organizers. The sound was not optimum and never really sounded right. I have seen Kassav in Europe and Africa all the way back to the eighties, they are a great group and always give magnificent concerts. Had to leave early, because I work so I never got to see the opening act . I would recommend the group but not the venue.

The set they played was wonderful, drummers were incredible. If you enjoy some good melodies and great stage performers; Kassav is the group to see !!!

I grew up listening to the Zouk group Kassav and my dream was finally a reality! They are the best performers ever!!!!!! T-vice was good also, but waisted alot of our time with their personal stage complications. Overall, We loved it.
