Rod Picott

I was not familiar with Rod Picott's work when I walked into this show, but by the time I left his songs felt like old friends. He writes about the harder side of life, for the most part - struggling with living in small towns with little money and few prospects. He also writes a lot about his tough but loving father. His songs are filled with closely-observed details, and the dark side is balanced with warmth and humor.

Rod is a great song writer. He is also a very gifted story teller. He shared some very interesting and often very humorous stories about his songs, family, and other musicians.

A Rod Picott concert is always a guarantee of a great performance - heart - soul - pain and satisfaction all rolled up into that unforgettable voice. He was solo at this performance and the audience very interactive. Go see Rod - you will kick yourself for not having done so sooner!
