Fun, informal presentation to the general public. Fun to hear and see young musicians working in Middle Eastern music. The featured professional, oud and violin virtuoso Simon Shaheen, was gracious with the young performers and clearly inspired them. It was a fun, inexpensive evening of music.

The students once again out did themselves. To see so many students from Palestine was so cool. Simon couldn't stop smiling just knowing this. I have seen Simon many times and really enjoyed this show. This is my second time seeing this type of show but I have gone to other with students and all were great. Best of all you can't beat the cost.

The concert featuring Simone Shaheen and Student Mid East Ensemble was one of the most memorable and enjoyable concerts I have experienced. The musicians were confident, relaxed and most proficient. Shaheen, the artist in residence, appreciated the students and was visibly showing his joy. The ensemble played a number of pieces themselves and were later joined by Shaheen who showcased the talent of each of the players, giving them plenty of space to reveal their virtuosity. Although Shaheen has recorded with musicians from various genres around the world he remained humble and respectful even when he was doing solo pieces. He was there for the music and collaborating with his fellow players not to nurture his ego. The Director who also performed was equally virtuous. Ms Karam was an unobtrusive presence bringing attention to her guest and her students in a gracious manner. I have been attending music performances for 45 years and performing myself for 16 so I have a lot to compare this to. The one word that comes to mind is joy..
