I went to see Metric , but didn't know their would be so many bands? I didn't think Metric was as good as they were a few years ago when I saw them? Not sure if it was the sound system, the Venue or the lead singer?

My husband and I have caught the last 3 Boston shows Metric has put on, and they have only outdone themselves each time. The buzz at the Orpheum was fantastic and it is the best venue for them to throw down... Also, whoever runs Metric's lighting for the show really nailed it. Kickass concert start to finish, lucky to have seen the last stop of their tour.

Another great show from a great band in a great venue! METRIC rocked Philly's Fillmore on Tuesday night covering tracks from their entire recording history. Starting with Old World Underground was a treat which didn't let up for the rest of the show. Visually the band weren't afraid to try stuff. The light show was very good for this size of venue but beyond that highlights included the band's use of silly light-up robe-glasses (fun!) and Emily's variety of capes, the luminous green one being a particular highlight. The band were not afraid to be close to their fans as demonstrated by their bringing of 20-30 fans up on stage with them for a group singalong. That reflects their comfort with who they are and how much they are appreciated by those who follow them - a great move! Their new album was well showcased and continues to show METRIC's ability to generate excellent synth pop/rock that translates well to the live medium. Emily was energetic as ever and I look forward to their return to Philly.

Its a natural progression for a band to move towards a new sound. I knew going into the show that most of the songs were going to be off of Fantasies. Her Hainess sure had her usual stage presence but too bad the music didn't come through. Be it that I am one of those fans who always likes the older stuff but I wanted to come out and support the band. Emily can put all her heart into singing the new songs but its too bad the music didn't do anything for me. My loss... I believe most of the crowd was into it. I don't blame the band for the new direction. Being in a band is also a job. And a job that doesn't pay sucks. Get more publicity, get more famous. It just means that they will be able to put out more albums. I hope they regress to the older, not so overproduced stuff. Now if Broken Social Scence could get Feist and Haines back together for a show, that would make me a very happy man.

This concert had great starting acts that complemented the band well, both with Smile Smile for the more mellow songs, and Sebastian Granger's rocking out for the more energetic Metric offerings...however, once Metric hit the stage, they blew everything else out of my mind. Emily and the band sound every bit as good live, and Emily is every bit as enthusiastic and danced around just as much as she does in all of the videos I've seen of her. And, to top it all off, she was hilarious in the inter-song banter. I went with a group of people who were nowhere near as obsessed with the band as I was, and now they're total fanatics as well, and have bought every CD they could get their hands on. Good luck with the rest of the tour, guys! This is my new favorite concert, and I've seen some greats (Muse, Ben Folds, etc.)!

Wow, wow and wow!! I've been a big Metric fan for over 5 years now and they just keep getting better and better. This show, in support of the newest albuim "Fantasies", absolutely ROCKED. Lead singer Emily Haines has always possessed a unique ability to connect with audiences on an individual level often revealing alternate strengths and vulnerabilities along the way. The end result? An authentic, deeply moving live music experience that you will seep into your pores and have you talking about for weeks after. Thank you, Metric! Can't wait to see you at Bumbershoot!

Metric 'shows cause' to striving musicians. They give encouragement to those 'garage bands' whose dream is to bring down the house! The energy was palatable and the venue was diversified. Their diversity is one of the main reasons I love their music!

The members of Metric are truly artists; instead of merely reverberating the same performance, I felt like they actually cared about what they were performing for the specific audience. I'm truly glad I went.

I've seen Metric a couple of times and they always put on a fantastic show. They just released a new album so played most of that at their most recent show (it's called Fantasies, it's awesome). But also broke out some of my older favorites like "Monster Hospital", "Dead Disco" & others. Don't miss them!

Great show. It was high energy from start to finish. If you have not seen Metric live, you are missing a great show. Band of Skulls opened for Metric, Brit band, awesome band as well. My wife and I couldn't help but dance. No CD or video could do it justice. Recommend.

Emily Haines wore a short, silver, sequined dress that would have sparkled and danced on its own had Haines simply stood still the entire performance. Luckily for us, her energy was sky high. After opening with the tranquil "Twilight Galaxy," Canadian indie rock band Metric turned it up a notch with their hit single "Help I'm Alive" and never looked back. Haines danced around the stage as though standing still for too long was physically painful. Even when she was playing her keyboards, she couldn't stop moving and gyrating to the music. Metric played a majority of songs from their most recent album, Fantasies, including the rousing "Stadium Love" and "Satellite Mind." They also played a few songs from earlier albums, like "Empty" from Live It Out, and "Grow Up and Blow Away," the title track to their first full album. I had never heard of opening act Band of Skulls before last night, but they impressed as well. A British alt rock, sometimes bluesy, trio. I'm going to search for their album.

Was great to finally see them live. Emily did a great job engaging the crowd. As fun as it was to see them at the Greek, I now further regret not seeing them as a headliner at the Wiltern earlier this summer. I will not miss them next time they are headlining in/around LA.

After seeing this show, Metric went straight on to my short-list of acts I won't miss in the future. Thanks to Columbus radio station CD101, tickets were less than $10, and the show was SOLD OUT. Emily Haines completely controlled the stage, as well as her audience's attention, from start to finish. She was ultra-energy through each song, and she showed her skill in tending the synth to make sure the speakers didn't get a beat's rest between songs. The rest of the band was together at every step while Haines danced around in a very short, silver-sequined dress. Jimmy Shaw displayed his wealth of talent as he attacked the guitar, and it was great to witness live how Metric creates their fusion sound, which is far from key-and-synth-only electronic. Any chance you get, go see this band!

Hadn't been to a rock concert since Fleetwood Mac toured Seattle in '76. I heard Metric on the radio, liked their music and bought Fantasies when it finally hit the shelves. Bought tickets and told my wife we were seeing Metric in Portland in a few weeks. I have to say she was a pretty good sport about the whole thing. I think we were just about the oldest people there not escorting underage people. The band sat in the adjoining booth next to us in the Underwonder for a few minutes until they decided to dine elsewhere. They were quiet and polite. It was exciting to see them up close. Can't imagine what it's like to be on road like that all of the time. What can I say? Metric is great! The music is driving, original, and lots of fun to listen to. Both the Underwonder and bar in the loft area of the ball room are staffed with friendly people who mix a pretty strong drink, I must say. It was great time.

I must say, when I heard that Metric was coming to Philadelphia I was rather excited. I had listened to all of their EPs and I had just started to nibble a bit on their fantastic LP, Old World Underground, Where are you now? However, I had no idea that Emily Haines woud be such an exciting act to watch! I expected a performance along the lines of a Cat Power performance -- slow, methodical and concise. Haines, however, took us attendees for a ride with her mesmerizing dancing and wonderful voice. Metric is certainly a band that plays up to the potential they display on their record, unlike some others (ahem, Animal Collective, I'm looking at you!). Yet not all was perfect at this show for the band tended to focus a bit too much on the new album instead of weaving old classics in between contemporary sets. Regardless, I had a great time and I would highly, highly recommend a Metric show, even if you don't like female vocalists.

I drove from OKC to Lawrence, KS and it was well worth it. It was an incredible show! Their new album is amazing, and I think it's their best work thus far. Miss Haines has an electric presence, yet a very fun, carefree, way of interacting with the audience. I recommend seeing Metric to anyone who wants an absolutely rockin' experience.

Metric (Emily Haines) really puts on a fantastic show....the lights, her moves, everything in sync....was perfect....i took my two youngest 16 and 18....they were impressed by mom's suggestion in music, and an added bonus, i believe the band stayed at the same hotel as us, the boys got a big kick out of seeing her coming in and out of the hotel.....

Every aspect of the concert was terrible. I've probably been to about 30+ concerts over the past few years, and this was the only one I've ever left early, in the middle of their performance. Singing: flat, repetitive, uninspiring Lights and costumes: terrible, cheesy distracting It was the show that wouldn't end. It was embarrassing to watch / listen. It was literally so bad it was funny. I actually had a great time starting when my boyfriend and I looked at each other about halfway through, and we realized we were both wondering if anyone else thought it was as terrible as we did. We spent the rest of the time laughing about how ridiculously bad a concert was, then we left early. To be fair, I've seen a few other reviews mention the acoustics were bad that night, and we were listening from the back of the ballroom. I'm also not very familiar with METRIC, only knowing one or two of their songs before attending the concert, which is my usual approach. That being said, I can't think of a single positive aspect of the show, other than the fact that the screeching of the subway sounded like music to my ears for the first time on the way home that night, in comparison.

It was something to do and the price was not bad. Death Cab for cute was not bad but the guy who did the sound should have been fired. It times it sounded like a 16 year old who cranked up the car speaker all the way. The Death Cab was fine. The sound quality was horrible. Metric was horrible. We walked out soon as they started.

Great bands, great music, great venue, and great times. I would have liked to have been a little closer to the stage, but that's my fault for buying tickets later than I should have. Joywave was a lot of fun. I hadn't heard a lot from them beforehand, but they played really well and engaged the audience a lot for a great opening act. Metric was fantastic too. They could tour as their own light show if they wanted. I wish they played more from their recent album, but it was still awesome. And Boston was the last stop of their tour, so I was glad we were able to see them finally. This is the second time I've been to the Orpheum and it was still great. I think I had better seats last time, but this was also a much more crowded concert than what I went to last time. Looking forward to coming back for more music sometime!

I've seen Metric four or five times, and they've always put on a terrific show. This time, even more than most, they shifted instruments and moods and speeds and light effects really effectively. Lots of us in the crowd were super fired up, and the band really responded to that. One especially cool feature was that sometimes they played or sang just a fragment of a really old song in-between the songs on the set list. Almost like a reminder or teaser of songs that maybe the band really _wanted_ to play, but just didn't have time. Also, the band brought a series of "VIP" fans on stage -- mainly girls and parents -- for an acoustic crowd-participation song, and Emily singled out three young girls to help her finish the last lyrics. It was an amazing moment for the crowd. i can barely imagine what it meant to them! The band's encore set was terrific, and they wound up with an acoustic duo with Emily and Jimmy. The venue was great. The crowd was great. i went with two friends who hardly know Metric at all -- we all had a terrific time.

In retrospect, I wish I had familiarized myself with their catalog a little more. I have only really listened to their last 3 albums and not in a while so a lot of the time I couldn't really sing along. Despite this the show was very good. Highlights for me were Youth Without Youth and Cascades (with a pretty cool light show) from their most recent album. Their best stuff is when they go electronic l but it was a mixed show between some of their more basic rock songs to their electronic/new wave tracks. I would definitely go see them again (and maybe prep a little more beforehand).

Worst accoustics of any concert I have ever attended! Don't know if it was the Hammerstein Ballroom or Metric but it was 1 1/2 hours of utter noise. Why have a lead singer when her voice is drowned out by the instruments.

I was extremely worried during the opening song. The sound was awful and her voice could be barely heard and sounded so flat. However, the second song started and it sounded great from then on out. I have seen Emily and Metric three times now and each time has been pure pleasure. They were fantastic this week again, as always. I was with a friend who has been a fan for years, but had never seen them live. He loved them also, to say the least. He had also never been to the gorgeous Masonic, so that only added to the enjoyment. There truly isn't a bad seat in the house. First time seeing them and their first Vegas show ever! They were every bit as wonderful as I thought they would be. First of all, I am a relatively new Metric fan, so I won't reference their entire discography and how this concert stacked up to past concerts. I will say this, though, I am a much, much bigger fan now after seeing this outstanding concert band perform. These guys are no studio band and Emily Haines puts on a non-stop, high-energy stage show (she must own an elliptical and have calves of steel to do what she does). The show was flawless technically, with sharp crisp sound that was not too loud once things got rolling. The band performed the music so expertly, it was like having the album wrapped around you or being in a video or something. Alot of the music they played was from SYNTHETICA mostly, followed by several from FANTASIES, so for those looking for older classics, you may be a bit disappointed in that regard. However, the show is really set up to create an entire SYNTHETICA mood. This is where I have to give some props to the guy running the AMAZING LIGHT SHOW. I had the good fortune to sit right next to his station and was able to watch him and the sound guy work. His programming of the lights and manual control during the performance really made the music come to life. Emily, don't let that guy go. Bottom line, if you want a concert that is put together to create the mood of the album and get the crowd really amped and into the show, this is it. Metric fans will not be disappointed and new listeners will probably walk away wanting to download some Metric. This is a band that really seems to have kept their independence and invested in making their performances something special. I know I am sitting here listening to SYNTHETICA right now and enjoying it oh so much more after seeing them perform it. Get your tickets. Now. P.S. Metric, please come back to Tampa soon.

i saw metric at the electric factory in philadelphia, amazing show! i saw them again acouple months later at the newport center in columbus ohio, they cut the concert extremely short! even after the fans chanted for them to come back on stage and play an encore.. they still left the crowd wanting more... i'm not sure the reasoning behind the two shows, but i can asure you that i was displeased with the second in the newport. one example is 'poster of a girl' - one of their classic songs, was performed in philly but not in columbus... i hope they are not getting to big of an ego with their increase in fan base. bottom line, it was a great show as always, just wished there was more to the second perfomance in columbus

I don't think I can really describe how epic and amazing this concert was. Deff a favorite and I would do it all over again if I could. They were just so awesome and had the crowd in the palm of their hands.

I absolutely had the greatest time at this concert and was fortunate enough to be in the front row. I think they were just as great, if not better, live, which you can't really say for most bands. I plan on going to any other Metric concerts in the city from now on, that's how much I enjoyed it.

This was well worth more than the$25. This was an awesome performance, the band was full of energy, very unique . Emily Haines is extremely talented, sounds great live, amazing voice , creative and fun dance moves that keep that crowd pumped . The concert opened with a bang as Bear in Heaven whose performance was also memorable ( amazing drums, kept crowd wanting more of it) and had a perfect closing with a softer more intimate song with Emily and James.

Metric put on one of the best live performances that I have seen in a long time. It was worth the wait to see them perform. They were absolutely wonderful and Emily Haines (lead singer) is so talented. The light show was great and the band produced an energy in the crowd that was so fun and warm. Emily was really great on the keyboard, guitar, tamborine, and all vocals. She had so much energy and every song she perfomed was so different and unique. I have been to many concerts in big and small venues and I would really rate this show as Magically Amazing! 5 Stars! I really would love to see Metric perform again and I have already recommended this band to all my friends. Thanks Metric for such a wonderful show, you really made my holidays this year a good one!

I grew up in Dallas and organized a trip so that I could see Metric while I was there. The band was amazing, the crowd enjoyed them, they were clearly having fun. Though this performance pales in comparison to the performance I saw in my local city Portland- though I blame the crowd's reaction for this. The venue was changed last minute- but that is not Metric's fault.

The band as a whole clearly enjoyed themselves. The crowd was, for the most part, getting along together well (at least in my immediate area). No sound difficulties, everything went smoothly. Music was amazing.

Metric hadn't played a show in DFW in years, but this show made the wait completely worthwhile. I've been to a lot of shows in my time, but I've never seen anyone as engaging and energetic onstage as Emily Haines was last night. Honestly, even if you don't like Metric, you would like seeing a musician jump up and down, headbang, play the keyboard, and sing all at once. Metric is pure talent onstage and not until seeing them live can you truly appreciate their art. Their live show is a must see for any music lover.

This was an awesome show! I am so grateful Metric added this to their last tour. I love Metric and am very familiar with their discography so I was very excited to see them, but I would definitely still recommend this show to anyone who is even vaguely familiar with them- they will give a great performance. I brought my boyfriend with me, he likes a few Metric songs but doesn't really listen to them, and we both enjoyed it a ton. I will absolutely see them again on their next tour. Emily is the bees knees!

Openers Royal Teeth were amazing, energetic, and will soon have a new LP out, looking forward to that. Metric were beautiful, sound was perfect for such a unique venue, like everyone else I wish they were playing again in NY somewhere this year, stage lights were perfect silhouetting performers at key moments, closing song was moving, performers used all of the minimal stage they had to work with

Metric is one of my favorite bands to see live when they're in town. Always put on a good show, fans are enthusiastic to say the least. Had to the opportunity to buy balcony seats this time but I feel as though the raw energy is downstairs in GA.

I am a huge fan of the band and have been for a long time. I was very excited about seeing this show, especially since hearing their newest song, Breathing Underwater. But the show itself was superbly lackluster. There was hardly any performing... she vaguely moved across the stage, and there was little to know special effects or show with the exception of a couple blinking lights. We left early, wishing we had our money back. I would have had a better experience and spent less to sit on my couch, have a drink and watch the YouTube video. I would pass on this concert if I had the choice to do it again.

Emily Haines and Metric put on an energetic enthusiastic show. The fragile strength of the vocals and lyrics make Metric one of my favorites. The closing acoustic version of Gimme Sympathy was especially well done. The closing bows from the band gives me the feeling they enjoy performing. Also, the Mondavi Center was a great venue

The concert was just the best thing I've ever experienced. Metric brought it! Setlist was perfect, Emily Haines was too funny and sexy. Her legs omg! Not to forget her flawless vocal delivery. It felt like I was listening to the actual record, but live! Metric mainly played music from Synthetica and Fantasies, but I was glad they also played "Black Sheep", "Monster Hospital", "Dead Disco", and te highlight of the night had to be "Empty" damn that performance made the crowd go insane!!! Unforgettable. Totally recommend Metric for anyone who loves music.

I haven't been to a show this boring in years... The energy from the crowd was dismal at best. The band sounded fine, but when the singer went on some sort of a rant against social media (did she even realize she was in tech central SF???) and how's she's afraid to talk to the audience now, made NO sense... Not sure why she thinks she's so relevant and news worthy....

My first time seeing Metric live. I have been nuts about the band since first discovering them on Pandora a few years ago. Great songs, cool music, and Emily! Having seen some other shows at Mondavi, I had some concerns about seeing the full electric band in such a small and acoustically live room. When the opening act came on it was worse than worst case. I like loud music and will choose front and center seats anytime I can. At this show I was seated rather far to the back, but it was still WAY TOO LOUD. I also thought the band (never did catch their name) was extremely mediocre - they played their instruments nicely, but their songs were anything but compelling (especially when I came to hear METRIC). Adding to my annoyance: the opening act came on half an hour late, and then droned on for another hour. Then another too-long break while the crew milled about the stage. I could have avoided at least some of this mess if the opening act had been billed, which it was not. By the time Metric hit the stage we had been in our seats for 2 hours. I ll leave it to someone else to post the set list, but it was a broad selection of favorites not especially promoting any new release. Emily is a true star singing, dancing, sampling, keyboards, guitar\u2026 and her beguiling stage presence. Unfortunately the sound level overwhelmed that little room. If anyone doesn t get what I mean here it s not just about the volume. With all the reverb added by the room, the result was a muddy mess. Perhaps this is just not the right venue for full-on rock and roll? Speaking of over-the-top, the festival-grade lighting system was also serious overkill. Up this close, the super-bright-backlight-in-your-face effects were not just bright, but blinding. I spent too much of the show looking away from the stage, so what s the point of that? Another bit of rock-and-roll culture that seemed out of place in the Mondavi Center fine arts atmosphere: everyone standing for the whole show. This is admittedly my preference, but this turns into all-or-nothing proposition. I ended up standing the whole time too, just so I could see the show. This was really a shame in this beautiful room where there are no bad seats. I will admit that the people standing in front of me were sometimes useful for blocking the stage backlighting when I had too much of that and wanted to sit down. Near the end, Metric came back with a short acoustic set. Typically I m not much of an unplugged fan, but in this case it was a relief to finally hear Emily s voice, and the words to the songs. Not sure who gets the blame for this debacle. You could tell the band was pretty fired up, this being the Wednesday between the two weekends of Coachella, where they take the stage in a few hours as this is being written. I wish I was there :-(. I also wish they had left the festival equipment behind when they came to Davis. I'm giving 2/5 stars not about the band, but for the whole experience. Sorry, it just wasn't what I was hoping for.

I got to see my two favorite bands, Metric and Tegan and Sara, play! Both were awesome, as was Youngblood Hawke. The seats were awesome too! And for that price? Probably the best concert I've been to. The seats were good enough to stay at when everyone else rushed to the stage. Since I'm so short I knew I'd have to do a lot of hopping in order to see the stage. The Arlington Theater is a great venue. Really beautiful and massive. There were only two things that kinda sucked. We couldn't bring our drinks past the bar area and during the show we had two groping couple that kept bumping into everyone. All in all, though, we had a great time!

Overall, it was a fantastic show: first time for me hearing Beware of Darkness and Youngblood Hawkes, but they both put on great shows. Tegan and Sara had a very crowd-pleasing set, I thought (at least for me): played all of my favorites from them. And Metric totally killed it! Also have to give some props to the incredible lighting during the Metric set. The only thing is that I wish I could have had more Metric! Emily seemed a little miffed (understandably) because we weren't cheering very loud for the encore, but I think we are all a little confused by the short set.

Metric was incredible. They have been one of my favorite bands for a while and it was so exciting to finally have seen them live! Emily Haines has some of the best showmanship of any frontman (or woman) out there. She connected with the crowd during every song and provided a beautiful acoustic cover of 'Gimme Sympathy' to close the show. Can't wait to see them next time around.
