Ok, let me start with the best.....and that was with out a doubt the Bar-Kays what a show....the energy was the best and showmanship was awesome....a must see....now with the not so good...Cameo the band I actually came to see was a bit of a disappointment....show was a bit lackluster and not up to par....the band seemed a little disorganized and Larry didnt seem to be involved in the show as I thought he would...he continued to walk off the stage after introducing some of the songs...so I was pleased that taste of honey and the bar kays did such a great job that I was able to give a good review because if it was just a review of Cameo...I would not have been so generous!

A great night to see several great funk/R&B groups from the 70s & 80s. The vocalists & musicians sounded great. Opening act Lakeside, dressed in pirate gear, got things started. The set included All the Way Live, Raid, & of course the ending killer Fantastic Voyage. Next up was Con Funk Shun, complete with a horns section & killer bass player. They sang all their big hits, including Shake & Dance With Me, Too Tight, Ffun, & Chase Me. SOS Band lead singer Mary Davis sound as good as ever. Set included Just the Way You Like It, Borrowed Love and smash hits Just Be Good To Me and Take Your Time (Do It Right). Having seen headliners George Clinton-Parliament-Funkadelic four times, their show was typical...lots of musician/vocalists on stage and all the hits...Flashlight, (Not Just) Knee Deep, One Nation Under A Groove, Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker), and final song Atomic Dog. Although Clinton's vocals are not good at all, it's still great to see this 71 year old legend and the co-lead singers more than make up for it. Another criticism is P-Funk's excessively long guitar-based rock interludes in the middle or end of songs that looses the audience. However, overall this was a great show and great chance to see top acts performing so many big hits.

The show was a lot of fun. it mainly allowed us to remember where we were in our lives when these songs first came out. Was able to snag one of the grafitti posters created on stage during Funkadelic show.

Everything was great, except for the parking. The lack of security organizing the parking made it difficult to get in and because of it I missed the one part of the show I bought the tickets for Zapp.

The parking was absolute kayos. They should have had someone directing traffic on the first level before entering the garage. Cars were at a stand still and you had several different lanes trying to merge when entering the garage. Cameo's lead singer Larry was defintely on something, he was dragging & left the stage so many times. George Clinton had way to many people on the stage, it was unorganized madness. We had no idea what the female singer was even saying & unfortunately she had lots of mic time.

The other bands did a great job playing all of our old favorites however when George Clinton and his freak show consisting of about 30-40 people hit the stage, it was self-indulgent and about half of the audience left after the first 3 songs when they didn't bother to play any songs we paid to hear. What a total waste of time and money. Even when they played a song there was so much screaming going on you couldn't even tell what they were saying... i.e. flashlight. I was truly disappointed.

Song selection was weak for the openers. Zapp opened before Mary Jane Girls ??? I heard that the show was different and it sure was. Too many people on stage and too many people singing /playing instruments /hanging out to get a good feel for the music.

My Husband and I heard about this concert on the radio, we really wanted to see the mary jane girls. We left 1 hour early to park and walk (usually something you have to do when you go to a concert in vegas) But we missed them because the parking at planet hollywood was HORRIBLE We left one hour early 7pm and got there at 9 due to the horrible parking at planet hollywood. Then when we got there there was only 1 bar open so lines were so long, I would have had to miss the whole concert. They had other bars there but they were closed??? Considering the event "Funkapalooza" they should have had at least 2 bars open. When I did get a drink, towards the end of the show it was $16.00 for one not so good sex on the beach. Oh my gosh I have never paid that much for a drink even at the most expensive casinos in vegas. The performers were great !!! We loved all of them, the ones we got to see, to me it got repetative and I got bored at times. My husband said thats what "funk" is he loved it. To me I have been to many concerts and this one wasn't my best or my worst.

After seeing George several times. This is the second time he brought out his family to sing . We go to hear old Parliment not his grand children sing. Badly by the way. The venue did not open all the bars, the lines were so long you would miss an entire act waiting to get a drink. They only allowed two drinks. If there were two people and one stayed by the seats, you would wait in line for twenty minutes to get one drink each. Bad setup.

The concert was good but not great and I'll tell you why.....first of all the in between breaks to switch up bands took way to long! And Parliament totally and absolutely ruined it for me they were the main attraction and ended it with a BUST! They looked like they were entertaining themselves instead of us they didn't play alot of their greatest hits and it just looked like kayos on stage and a big party going on but we weren't invited! People were walking out I stayed until the very end hoping to hear those hits but no and it just totally rained on my parade, Cameo, ZAPP, Confuksion were great but Parliament and George Clinton I'll just stick to the CD, what a disappointment and I paid good money for good seats and brought a friend from San Diego bragging how we do it over here and it was a flop at the end. Boo hoo shame on you Parliment you really let me down!

George clinton sang about 3 words the entire set, they were fun to look at, lots of characters but they never even sang One nation !!! Most of the audience left, it was very rockish......

This was one of the best concerts that I have been to in awhile. I had so much fun and the music was mind blowing. All of the groups was just outstanding and they sound as if the same as they did in the 80's.I really enjoyed myself all night... Thanks Funk-A-Palooza for doing an outstanding job with the performance and hats off to Cameo and Parliament Funkadelic. They ALL still got it going on...........

I really enjoyed the show. Descent seats but would probably have been better sitting in the middle. The people to my left could not stop crossing us. Zapp, Cameo and Con Funk Shun could have had more time for performance. I really enjoyed them. Mary Jane Girls were ok. I like George Clinton but some of his time could have been given to one of my first Three artis's. Clinton should just come out and play the hits. Spent to much time on one songs. And what happened to One Nation, Aqua Boggie, Dr. Funkenstein. Not that I mind the songs he performed but he could have played more hits if he reduced the time on the songs he did play.

It was hot in the venue and very crowded when you went to the bathroom or to get a drink. It was a very long night. They should have published the order of the acts. Didn't make it to see George because the night was long and hot. Zapp, Confunkshun and Cameo were great. MaryJane Girls...less than average....George Clinton....musically fantastic....BUT!....the stage became cluttered with non-partipants that drew the focus away from the artists. I think the term is "overkill" on Parliaments and George Clintons chorus repetition. The audience lost interest and the exodus began halfway through their segment. other than that...we enjoyed ourselves. Maybe it was the sound techs blowin the skirb...You could see the singer mouthing the lyrics but no sound out of the mains. Monitor feedback was more than I've heard at any other venue. I like the skirb theory....

Zapp & Con Funk Shun busted out with great songs but were cut off too soon. Cameo stole the show! Cameo can still play tunes just like back in the day! The best! On the other hand I cannot say this for George Clinton & Parliment Funkadelic> They were a complete dissapointment to the fans! They played horrible! George Clinton cannot sing a tune anymore! His vocals are fried! The band was totally off sync. The lead female singer cannot sing. Her voice sounded like one of the Chipmunks! It was obvious she was completely under the influence of a substance. The band was so bad the fans began leaving during their performance. I am a huge old school funk fan. Overall I would NOT pay to see George Clinton & Parliment Funkadelic again.

Con Funk Shun was outstanding and deserved more time. They sound as great has they did 25 years ago. Cameo sounded great and played a lot of their hits. Seemed to have the appropriate amount of stage time. Although they no longer have their horns they are still formidable band. Parliament-Funkadelic was a train wreck! The band is still very good, but stage show was a mess. Their were too many people on stage and their song we unrecognizable. The signing droned on for too long and the only person I recognize on stage was George Clinton after someone announced him. I left before Parliament-Funkadelic finished the stage show. I did not see Zapp.

I go back 40 years as a Funkadelic fan. I first found them in a record store in Niles, Michigan and it was the album cover that first caught my eye. The artist who did the album art was phenominal. I remember reading the names of the songs and asked the guy working to play it for me. After a few minutes I told him I'd take it. The album was America Eats Its Young. To this day I still have and play that album among many others. Funkadelic became my favorite all time band. I've seen them 4 times over the years prior to March 19th 2011, even saw them last year, made a special trip to LA and the Funk was spot on, tight as ever, the crowd was mixed mostly young (I was suprised). I, my wife and the rest of the crowd stood most of the show singing along with the band and dancing, it was fantastic. Everyone was completely Funked up heck, I talked about the show for weeks. On March 19th the songs were unrecognizable, I didnt hear those sweet soulful voices, the lead guitar playing wasnt even close to true to the original recordings, just screaming for one and a half hours. I would have left early like most everyone else except I'd invited 8 others, one couple came from as far as Indiana. Sad and, that night I decided to never see Funkadelic live again, I would rather keep the memories of the 4 times they did great live shows. And when I want the Funk I will play a record on my turntable or listen to my Ipod. Too bad, they werent good to my earhole. Let the Funk Live On Forever!

The evening was a wonderful trip back into my yesteryear's. I was on my feet dancing the majority of the time! Lakeside opened up the evening righteously, then Con Funk Shun continued. I wish that the S.O.S. Band could have sung two more of my favorite songs, but I still enjoyed myself. Lakeside. SOS band were amazing! Confunktion excellent! Headliner George Clinton sadly is a shell of what he once was. His beloved music was performed by no name protégés. He sat in a chair and occasionally said a few things into the mic. I saw him 3 years ago and he still had some spark left, now I fear old age and maybe something worse, health related has taken over what was once pure genius. I'm sad for him more than disappointed with the show. However no one has $100 bucks to throw away. He can't retire because he was swindled out of the rights to his songs, but be true to the public, they should know Clinton no longer Sings.

Well let me start with the first 3 groups, Con Funk Shun, Zapp, and Cameo. They all tore it up! It was my first time seeing Con Funk Shun and Cameo, and they were really good. It was my second time seeing Zapp, and of course they rocked it. The only thing with Zapp though, they tend to get the crowd into it too much when they don't need to. Hey is the party over here or over there! C'mon now your Zapp, everybody will be into it just play the MUSIC. Doing all that just takes up time and leaves out some good jams...no "Heartbreaker"???? Are you kidding me? Reminds me when I saw the Gap Band, Charlie Wilson left out "You Dropped the Bomb On Me." I'll tell you one thing though, Cameo should have headlined that show, they were badd! Larry Blackmon and Charlie Singleton really funked it up that night!...Now, for my first time seeing GC and Parliament Funkadelic, I thought for sure I was gonna see the works. Well maybe not the spaceship ha, but definitely everything else I've seen on video, you know just the crazy onstage performance that is GC and Parliament Funkadelic. My uncle, having seen them way back when, told me everything about experiencing them live, and I was pumped. But instead, we got a practice session for the most part, or at least that's what it was like to me. Man they just went on and on, GC brought up this chick twice singing I don't know what, then his niece I guess. They must have been doing just nonsense for at least a good 30-40 min just eating up time..I thought for sure they were gonna bust out all the jams. I think I only actually seen GC but twice, mixed in with all kinds of people onstage that didn't need to be there. Just before an hr you could see the crowd start to dissipate, but we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. We kept saying oh watch they're gonna bust out right now..never happened. I think we left with about 20 min left, maybe a little less, and the only good song I heard was "Flashlight," and it was not long at all. I was so disappointed, when they played it I couldn't even get into it. I'm not sure what GC did in the last 20 min or so, he probably busted out "Atomic Dog" for sure, but he had to have put it into a melody because there wasn't much time left. I probably wouldn't have been into it anyway. Walking out, some dude having a smoke said the same thing man. I feel bad for GC though man, after hearing his story on Unsung, things are hard...but that should be all the more reason why you should play like you've always played. Still, I should have known when they said this is the "new" Parliament Funkadelic....If I go again this year, which I do really want to, it'll be mostly for Lakeside, Con Funk Shun, and especially the SOS Band. But I will try and give GC and company another chance...

Cameo and Confunshion two thumbs up!. Zapp? They was running tracks. I love Zapp, but I can listen to their records at home. They should have announced that it was a tribute to the Mary Jane Girls cause they were not the originals. Their show was kind of weak too. What I didn't understand is why they would have a knock off Mary Jane group on a Funk-A-Palooza concert, and not the Brides of Funkenstein. I saw the Brides last year at the Long Beach Funk Festival and they were amazing. I forgot how incredible their voices were , and those ladies sang on all those P-Funk hits. I was hoping I'd see them again with Parliament. They really needed them too, cause the weakest performance, I'm sad to say, was Clinton & Company. They influenced bands like Cameo and Zapp. But without the Brides and original band members, they were nothing more than a weak sounding cover band.

Really enjoyed ZAPP, CAMEO, CONFUNKSHUN and the MARY JANE GIRLS... But George Clinton and P_FUNK got lost in translation. Even though GC always has a lot of people on stage at his concerts he always stood out. Now he looks like a "old Rick Ross" and kept disappearing into the sea of people. (Literally 50+ people on the stage doing nothing.) His voice was raspy and garbled and Flavor Flav was running around the stage as a annoying pitchman. He had his granddaughter come on stage and do some rap about t*tties and p*ssy. I was VERY DISSAPPOINTED. We left about 5 minutes into his performance. I am a huge fan of FUNK so if he has another concert I would probably buy tickets in hopes of seeing the REAL GEORGE CLINTON. Overall, I would still recommend this concert. Even the "headliner" failed, the other groups ROCKED THE HOUSE and the DJ was superb!

The selection of artists was good. The music was really good. But we just didn't get what we anticipated. Expected a Parliament Funkadelic experience at the end but the 'experience' wasn't there. Expected to be 'transported', the mother-ship landed but it didn't take back off. For some reason they didn't really play the 'fan favorites' and for the first 40 minutes, George wasn't even onstage. There wasn't much of a "show", the band was great but there was no stage show, no costumes really and George kind of looked like he was at a mic check versus a performance. By the end of the show there had to be upwards of 65 people just milling around onstage. I would recommend this show for the fabulous music but be prepared if you are expecting that George Clinton/Parliament showmanship.

I was disappointed in George Clinton's performance. He didn't go on the stage until about midnight and his voice was so raspy by that time. The show should have started at 6pm and then all of the bands could have been enjoyed. The best music was between the bands setting up. We did enjoy Confunction, they were a fun, interactive, not annoying band that came to play music and entertain. Cameo couldn't find "where the ladies were at" the whole time he was on stage. I say that because there was just so much going on during that performance and the music and singing wasn't great at all. Very unusual because G. Clinton has phenomenal music. During the performance people were walking out because how bad it sounded. I left the venue at 12:45am and the show was still going. I will say Zapp, Mary Jane Girls, Confunction, and Cameo all put on amazing performances!!!!

The show was great. I loved Cameo the best. Mary Jane Girls sang a tribute to Rick James.
