Craft Spells

CRAFT SPELLS IN CONCERT:For an artist who typically makes music in the solitude of his bedroom, Craft Spells, aka Justin Vallesteros, is a surprisingly charismatic performer. While he writes and records as a solo artist, on the road Craft Spells recruits a backing band comprised of guitarist Javier Suarez and drummer Andy Lum, who complement his hazy, dreamy tracks with lush guitars and crisp percussion. From the danceable dream pop tune "Party Talk" to the whispery, synth-washed single "Breaking the Angle Against the Tide", Vallesteros' wistful lyricism is layered atop blissful, meticulous arrangements to stunning effect. His songs translate beautifully to the stage -- Craft Spells concerts always charm ticket buyers with a mesmerizing blend of lush tunes, understated showmanship, and electric energy.

Frontman Justin Vallesteros will make you remember why live shows are worth going to. As good as their albums are, they do tend to keep a mellow vibe, but once you see Craft Spells live their incredible blend of sound and atmosphere will put you into another musical dimension. And for the fast and powerful songs like "Party Talk" or "After the Moment", Justin loves getting in the zone, and will move around with you if you move around to them.

Probably one of the worst concert experiences. Solicited for my email, horrible opening act. Band was unprofessional and didn't seem to care that they were playing. Audio quality was incredibly poor, I don't think that engineer could mix iced tea when asked to do so.

Honestly, I was quite underwhelmed by their studio recordings. I still enjoyed them but musically they were not very interesting. Their live shows, however, are completely different. I loved their live sound; it was purer and shoegazey.
