Hadn't been to Red Rocks since 1986 when I moved away from Colorado. Went to Willie Nelson's country throwdown tour on June 21st, since we were going to be in the area anyhow. Not a big country fan, but had a great experience with staff and fellow concert goers. I actually enjoyed all of the other acts even though I really didn't know who they were. Lukas Nelson really rocked the house and I expect to see him on the main stage soon with his Promise of the Real band! Willie was awesome, but a little short on time in my opinion, but then again.....I doubt many could even take the stage at his age!! Still going strong...good for him. This was my boyfriends first Red Rocks experience and he was blown away. We even stopped back by on our way out of town so he could experience the magical space without a show going on and walk out on stage!! Way to go Red Rocks!!! Good memories!

All the bands were fantastice and awesome!!!! Of course no one can be better than Willie and his family. Lukas is a close runner though!!! Never seen so much energy in that boy or in one location!!!! Lukas played with most all the bands, I am worried about his teeth, hope he's using a pick instead of the acutal teeth!!! Micah was fantastic on the drums! The whole family is so talented and so giving to share this talent with us.

All of the performers were amazing! The only thing I didn't like was that they were separated onto 2 different stages. I got there thinking they were going to be on one side so we got really good seats. Come to find out, the other side with the not-so-known singers were starting at 3 and everyone else didn't start until 6pm. If there had been a schedule then I would have waited to come at 6 instead of waiting 3 hours in the 100 degree heat.

My lady friend almost passed out from the extreme heat before we got to see Willie and we had to leave after her being treated for heat exaustion. We got there around 2 pm and had to wait in the heat with no shade until the gates opened around three. Some of the artists started playing on the small stage around 4:30 and we heard that Willie wouldn't appear until around 9 pm. By 4:30 we were soaking wet with sweat and she was sick and close to being in real trouble so we sought EMT help and left. My tickets showed Willie Nelson and the country throwdown would start at 2:30 so we expected to see him by 4 at the latest. Very poor planning with no consideration for the concert attendees. I witnessed several people (young and old) in serious trouble with the opressive heat. The event should've started after the sun had set.....Lesson learned on my part......I would appreciate a refund but I won't hold my breath....

Willie Nelson is an absolute legend, everyone knows this. It was the combination of classic country and new outlaw country that made the Throwdown Tour unforgettable. There was something magical about the moment when Willie came on stage to perform his classics. The venue was fantastic! It was very hot and muggy, but the creek running through the property allowed some relief for the heat.

Willis is awesome. I'd see him over and over. I would not go to his showdown tour again at the Woods. The Woods is hot and crowded, and the security was AWFUL at moving people along from the front. They listened to everyone's reason why they should be able to stay up front, so while they were talking, 8 more people moved up and stayed. But again :) Willie was awesome!

I purchased the tickets so I could take my parents to see Willie Nelson, someone I grew up listening to with my parents. This was close to their home and I wanted them to experience hearing him before he stopped touring. I had seen him earlier this spring at an indoor, auditorium style venue and LOVED the concert. I wanted to replicate my wonderful experience for my parents. It was far from wonderful. First of all, it was an outdoor venue which said to have 'reserved seating' so I purchased the $70 tickets and got sixth row aisle seats. I was very excited. The problem was, the ushers and security there wouldn't keep the 'general admission' people (much cheaper tickets to bring a chair and sit on the lawn in the back) out of the middle aisle and in front of the stage. There were several pushing/shoving brawls between several women in front of us because they were so irritated that they paid so much for a front row ticket and then couldn't see the concert because of all the folks coming up to take pictures and watch the concert. My parents are older, and they, along with many other ticket holders there, had no idea that Willie Nelson wouldn't play until 9:30 p.m. Our tickets said 3:15, so we arrived in 95 degree heat and sat there listening to smaller acts until then. They would not allow us to go back out to our car and return at a later time, so we bought over-priced water and watched the pre-Willie show of numerous drunks around us. We actually left 10 minutes early and missed some of Willie's performance because I was fearful of being able to exit the facility safely with my parents because of all of the drunken idiots! Note to self. . . only pay money to see Willie Nelson at an indoor venue. By the way. . . if you haven't seen him perform, you should. At the indoor concert I went to in the spring, he played for an hour and forty five minutes straight, played the guitar like a 20 year old, then signed autographs for anyone who wanted one! He was amazing!!!

The event was disappointing. The posted start time for Willie Nel;son was 3:00 pm. He showed up at 9:15 pm so we had to listen to eardrum bursting music until he showed. Not a good way to entertain people that do not care for loud music and cussing on the stage.

The music was great and the multiple stages worked well. You had music going all day in between set changes. The venue was not prepared, it was about 95 outside at 3:00 when we rolled in and they had no cold beer or water. it was very confusing how the vendors were setup and most were not ready to serve until about 4:30. The seats we had were awesome and the outdoor setting was great for the music.

Show was advertised to start at 3 p.m. Acts didn't play until 6:30 p.m. Quite a wait in 95 degree weather! Otherwise, no complaints. All the acts preceding Willie Nelson I didn't know, but they were very good. Willie played an hour and half and was exceptionally good!

All the artists were great, Randy Houser was really really good. The first time I got to see him and I will make sure I check him out everytime he comes up to our area...superb. I have seen Jamey Johnson before, I have a few of his cds and as always thought he is incrtedible. In my eyes, one of the top songwriters in the world today. Incredible ability to pen a song. Willie is just a living legend that plays the performance of a lifetime effortlessly. His acoustic is just an extension of his body. You guys need to bring this tour into NJ next time round, the pnc art center perhaps. I look forward to catching up with all the artists in some smaller venues, so tell your booking agents to get some gigs in NJ cause we have a great supportive scene and appreciate what you all are doing. Thanks

All in all I didn't think the talent was very good. I was expecting "country" music. Most of the acts were not "country" in my sense of the word. Jamey Johnson was pretty good, but other than him, I felt like this was more of a rock concert. Willie was good, but again I was a little disappointed. He didn't play very long and never even did one encore. I don't think I've been to a concert where the artist didn't do an encore. He didn't seem into the performance.

My husband and I had an amazing time at the Throwdown. The only thing I found frustrating was that the beer was $9 a glass and warm. It was about 95 degrees that day and it would have be nice to bring your own cold beer into the concert.

when I purchased my tickets for my wife and grandson, they stated 3pm concert. When we arrived gates didnt open till 3pm.I was told at the gate I couldnot bring my camera into the concert.I was told no professional camera was allowed.(it was a canon rebel)not a professional camera. Also individual was very ignorant. When we got to our seats found little red spiders all over seats. It semed to me there was more interest in selling beer.I also feel program should have explained, there was a stage at the top of the hill besides the main stage..I finally asked an attendant when the main concert would start and was told 5pm.Afer an hout and a half killing little red spiders we left.WE have been to numerous WILLE NELSON concerts at other locations and I have to say they were organized much much better.I am a retired Marine so I dont have anything against people drinking.but when I pay to go to any type of event I expect the staff to be helpful and POLITE.

This was our first time at the Mann. Although we heard so many good things about it, we were disappointed. The box seats although had a great birds eye view, were extremely hot and had no air movement. The music on the main stage for the first two acts (Lee Brice and Randy Houser) was so loud it was distorted. We moved around the theater to hear from different angles, but no help. Fortunately when Jamey came on stage, his mellow low voice did not get too loud. Some of the jamming did and it was a shame to drown out his voice. We love Jamey, though and were happy to have the chance to see him. Willie was awesome. We tried to see him in Reading last year but the show was canceled so we didn't want to miss this opportunity. He did a nice compilation of many of his best. His music was just perfect and his voice is still strong. I am glad I got to finally see him but wish I didn't have to wait until 10. Unfortunately, people were talking so much it was a distraction from his performance.

Lots of fun to walk from stage to stage. Great music, great crowd- everyone mellow and just there to have a good time. Willie was, of corse, the BEST, and Jamie Johnson played a great set list (mowin' down the roses/color were my favorites.) New artist Brantley Gilbert put on a great show as well.

All of the music was great. I really liked Willie's son too. His sister was awesome on the piano. Willie was on very late. The venue was out in the sticks so it was a long 1 1/2 drive home on a winding road very late at night. The wait for Willie was too long but it was a good show.

It was an amazing show, the venue at Ironstone was beautiful. I was not impressed with the crowd. For God's sake the people could of smiled or been happy they where at a concert on such a wonderful day. Lee Brice even commented remind me not to play at another winery. The performers would say how's it going out there and it was pretty much crickets... REALLY??? I had one lady tell me that I need to quite down cause she came to watch Willie. I replied to her, I did too, this man is 78 years old, you don't think he wants people to get up and cheer and be excited he's there... LAME-O. I loved all of the performances, Jamey Johnson and Willie where phenom!

"Anger" is the only adjective I can come up with to describe this event! My husband and I began the ticket quest with much excitement. We saw the event was coming to Red Rocks Amphitheatre and we LOVE Willie and his music. All we needed were the tickets. We ordered the tickets through Ticketmaster as we've done in the past. The tickets were reserved seating, rain or shine, Tue Jun 21 2011 3:00 PM Row 43 Seat 58 and 59 $64.00 each plus $12.50 handling charges each. They arrived promptly in the mail and our day was planned. The disappointment began when we arrived at the park around 2:00 PM for the 3:00 PM show. Many attendees were lined up waiting to get into the park. The gate guards told us the gates weren't opening until 3:00 PM. A lot of ticket holders expressed the same frustration regarding the lack of information on the tickets. Some folks even left not intending to return. The tickets only said 3:00 PM. Then we found out that Willie Nelson wouldn't even be on stage until approximately 9:55 PM. My husband and I felt duped along with many other people in line! We were told we could go home and come back if we only wanted to see Willie Nelson seven hours later. We drove 35 miles to get there. Imagine our disappointment. And we weren't the only unhappy ticketholders. We did stay for about 4 hours and enjoyed the Main Stage and the Blue Bird Cafe Stage shows. We were just unable to stay all those hours because of later commitments in the day. In any event, we did not get to see our beloved Willie due to the time misinformation both in the advertisement in the newspaper and on the tickets. Unfortunately we were told we should have checked the website for the show details before we even bought the tickets.

the ironstone venue was great! beautiful outdoor arena, good food, and cold beer. we had never heard of most of the other guys playing but we warmed up to them quickly as they were pretty good (some better than others) and a whole lotta fun. we went to see willie (of course) and jamey johnson and willie was great, a little mellow, but he is 78. we were let down by jamey. only played a couple of songs off his first album (ya know, the one that made everyone crazy for him) and he had little to no crowd interaction. don't know if we would go out of our way to see him again. but overall, it was a great time. even if some jackass did tell us to sit down because they couldn't see. it's a concert! get up a dance!!!

Willie was great even though he is getting much older his performance was great. Jamey Johnson was also good. The rest however was not. Event promoters should not mix OLD Country with Country Rock. The two crowds do not mix well. We are old country folks and the first 4 or more entertainers were far too loud obviously appealed to a much younger crowd. We really wish we had attended only the last two hours.

Although we love the Ironstone Amphitheater venue, this concert was not our favorite. After listening to band after band and waiting what seemed to be forever for Willie Nelson to come on stage, we were disappointed that Willie only played for less than an hour. Also, by the time he came on stage at 9:50 pm we noticed that many people had packed up and left - presumably because of the time. We thought that the concert could have been shortened by a couple of hours especially if Willie Nelson was only going to be onstage for an hour. The other bands were good - we especially liked Jamie Johnson - but all in all it was too long (approx. 6 hrs.) in the hot sun.

Whoever was responsible for the volume of the concert inside did a terrible job. I know concerts are normally loud. But the sound was so very loud, the voices were distorted and you could not distinguish what they were singing. The lead guitar and drums were almost painful. It became unbearable especially when Jamey Johnson came on. . . by that time the volume was deafening. I had to get up and leave for the last 4 songs, because I found it painful. Finally, when Willie Nelson came on, they seemed to have lowered the volume some. I truly enjoyed Willie Nelson. . . . he is definitely a legend and I am glad that I went because of him. I was surprised to see how the younger groups music was more Rock and Blues slanted. If the volume were not so loud. . . I would have really enjoyed this concert. Please turn down the VOLUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I love Willie Nelson but there was so much information that was not provided to us like that Willie would not be on until 10:00 that night. We got there at 3:00 and they didn't even let us in until 5:00 to the arena. When the music finally started, it was so loud we could not stand it without earplugs. In a different setting, this might have been a great concert. I gave it 3 stars because of the setting, the misinformation and the loudness. As for watching Willie, even for only that hour, priceless

Nothing in the material on the web gave a description of what to expect, other than naming Willie and some other performers. We arrived at 3:30PM, the time shown on the tickets. From then until 5:00PM there was only outdoor performances. Doors opened at 5:00P but there was not performance until 6:15P. None of the next 3 groupds were Willie. There was no announcement made as to when we would see him, Following Randy Hauser, at 8:30P we learned from an usher Willie woiuld not be on until 9:55P. We did not stay to see Willie, nor did a lot of other folks. There should have been some explanation as to how this event would play out.

The posted event hours were deceiving. We had no notice that Willie would not perform so late in the evening. The start time inside the Arena was 1/2 hour late, therefore delaying Willie's start. The early groups did not seem very "country". :( We left very early, as the sound was vibrating and painful to our ears. Perhaps another concert will be something we attend.

Of course I went to see Jamey, but my daughter had never seen Willie. I bought tickets for her birthday. She absolutely loved Willie. We were both very happy with the concert.

This is one of the tours I have seen this year! With 13 bands how can you go wrong! The headliners Lee Brice, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, and Willie of course could not have put on a better show! Also got to see Brantley Gilbert for the first time and he is an awesome preformer with great music!

Love the new amphitheatre at The Fontanel. 3 idividual opening acts...Lee Brice ( very happy to be there with lots of energy), Randy Houser ( even more energy, worked the crowd)and Jamey Johnson( didn't speak to the crowd when he came on stage or thank them when he left the stage) All were pretty good. I think the biggest surprise was Lukas Nelson, Willie's son. He is an amazing performer. Very talented guitarist. Willie sang a lot of his hit songs and was loved by the crowd. This event is recommended.

Willie and all the bands were absolutely awesome! Willies son Lukas is a great singer and musician and really put on a show. We really enjoyed Jamey Johnsons show too. Look for Lukas Nelson and The Promise of The Real...they are outstanding.

First the venue was horrible. They split the performances between two stages one of which was no where near the seats we paid for. Second I thought this was a country throwdown not two country singers and alot of bad rock, pop, fake country stars. Crowd interaction on both sides sucked. The artist would say something and get no response so then they just stopped talking. Jamey johnson was just ok which is the only reason I went to the concert. If they every come back I think the radio stations need to do a better job of promoting.

If you're a big country music fan this is a great opportunity to see lots of great acts! I enjoyed all the different styles of the bands. I was a little disappointed for two reasons....first I thought there would be more vendors and second I thought Willie Nelson cut his songs short and spoke many of the lyrics. I loved Willie's music growing up and was sad to see his performance taking a back seat to the other artists. It was still a great time and I would go again next year :-)

It was the first time we attended this venue, and I must say, it was awesomre. Very neat layout, and easy to move around. All the bands were interesting, and you could see the main stage from anywhere. We had a great time.

Word to the wise.... Not a kid friendly event. It would be nice if the beer vendors would not serve to severely intoxicated people. Other than sitting behind the most obnoxious people at the venue, it was nice.

This was my second time attending throwdown. This year it was at the Citizens Bank arena in Ontario. During Jamey Johnson's performance, I was asked by security to sit down and remain seated until the show was over. I was extremely irritated since Jamey Johnson was the artist I was looking forward to seeing the most. When someone behind me asks me to sit down at a concert, which is a regular occurence at concerts, my response is always the same polite "no." Unless they are handicapped, or over the age of 75, there is no rule against standing at concerts. I kindly explained myself to the security guard, but she didnt care how amazing Jamey Johnson was, she threatened to kick me out. Jamey Johnson gave an unbelievable performance. If the people behind me were true fans, they would have been standing too. The security guard ruined the concert. Sitting down during a performance is lousy and shows no appreciation or grattitude towards the artist.

Overall, the venue and evening made this an absolutely perfect show. The crowd was cool and the music was fantastic. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a chance to see Willie Nelson and Family really put on the dog. They are all great musicians. You don't have to be a country music fan to enjoy this show.

We were expecting a mellow country songs but i guessed it was not for elderly audience. Waiting from a 3:30pm ticket, Willie showed up at 10pm to perform. Not a good idea at all to let us wait till the end.

The venue was great as always, the hosts delightful, however, some of the other ticket holders believed they could stand up and disturb the rest of the audience's enjoyment of the performance. It was unfortunate. I did not enjoy the concert for that reason.

Great show with amazing artists topped off with a living legend. It doesn't get better! Jamey Johnson was just awesome to see live. He rarely comes to California so he was the reason we wamted to see the show and he didn't disappoint! Seriously.. If you can catch the end of this tour and see a throwdown show, it will be totally worth it! I wish I could see them all!

hello the event at Murphy's with Willie and the gang was really great. The grounds where or are beautiful. The food was a great surprize on howw good it was,. I have been telling all my freinds to go check them out. I just lost my husband and my oldest son took me. We sat in the second row and the view was fantastic. Some of the songs seemed to be of dealing with death , life and how much more one could do before our body's fail. This brought tears to my eyes and memories of my marriage. It will be a very sad day when we lose Willie and his style. = Unfortuantely we left early and did not see Willie till the end. The row in front of us had some guest whom where trying to take over seats. The pepole controlling the event had to take or escourt them several times. We could see that things could get ugly so I asked my son for us to go before the drunks started being crazy. Although Willie himself sings of these things It is not what I wanted to exsperience during this difficult time of mine. My son says no one walks out on Willie , well I have to say some one had to . Not because it wasn't good It is just a very difficult time for me at this time in my life. My husband was as important as Willie to allot of pepole . He would have whooped it up

After Judds, Eric Clapton, Kenny Chestney&Billy Carrington, Trace Adkins& Merle, Then that list of stars at Ironside, I would have to say the Throwdown( &musicians there) & hospitality of the venue had to be the best concert yet. The amazing thing is on this date i have been most impressed with Willies son Luke, I beleive I saw and heard our next superstar of the following decades, God bless him and his father.

I have been going to 7-10 concerts(no fairs) these past several years and this one stands out as unforgettable!!!! Willie Nelson will always be on my Mind!!! His sons are ultra talented and because I am much younger than Willie look forward to seeing them in many years to come. Lucas Nelson is outstanding and his brother Michael is multi talented! I would be soooo proud if these were my children. I couldn't ask for a better concert. Lee Brice, Randy Houser and Jamey Johnson ( always excellent) were absolutely fantastic. Worth every penny, Can't wait until next year!!!!!! I would LOVE to go to this again! Willie was very personable with the audience, He made eye contact with quite a few of us! Was 100 times better than Merle Haggards concert in Napa (PRETTY MUCH SUCKED) last year. This aged man is still picking up new fANs all the time!! He is a living legend!

We came out late mainly to see Willie but found all the opening bands to be great and purchased most of their cd's .Seats were 8th row center . The show was incredible Willie Nelson still rocked a house filled with older, middle aged and young fans. The event center was the most people friendly place I had ever entered for any event. the free parking was a bonus.

Beautiful day and great talent! It's too bad it wasn't well publicized. The venue wasn't full by a long shot. I hope that doesn't deter any of the artists from coming back. These guys can really deliver. Lee Brice was really good. We were fortunate enough to get 'back stage' and take pictures/get autographs with him. What a nice guy! Every time I see Randy Houser, I like him more and more. He has such a strong voice and knows exactly who he is. Jamey Johnson and Willie Nelson were great too! Overall, well worth the money.

I'm not a huge Willie Nelson fan but this was amazing. Must have been the combination of his presence, the venue and the beer. LOVED "You Were Always On My Mind" - a real classic. His son, Lukas, plays a mean guitar too. Sorry he didn't do City of New Orleans, though.
